I told Pranav Mohanlal, I can’t do anything : Mohanlal

Malayalis all over the world are waiting to see Pranav Mohanlal on screen this year. The celebrated star kid has signed for his debut as a male lead for director Jeethu Joseph’s upcoming action thriller. Mohanlal in a recent media interaction talked about his son’s acting debut and how he hopped on to the project.

Mohanlal said, “He is doing all that I wanted to do when I was his age. He travels a lot, reads many books and makes music of his own. A lot of people, even from Tamil film industry approached him with scripts. Many ad films were also offered. He told me that he’ll act in Jeethu Joseph’s movie as he feels comfortable working with him because he has already assisted Jeethu Joseph in two movies.”

“One day he came to me asked me how to act. I told him, I cannot do anything. He cannot act well just because he is my son. He has to prove that. I can help him by producing one or two movies. If that doesn’t click, I can’t do much. It’s a magic for people to like him. Let that happen.”

Pranav Mohanlal is currently undergoing training in Parkour, a kind of training in jumping, running and climbing walls to play the part perfectly. Jeethu Joseph has earlier said that the movie will be an action thriller on the lines of his superhit movie Memories. Mohanlal’s home production house Aashiravad Cinemas is producing this yet-to-be titled movie which is set to go on floors this year.

C3 : Title change for Singam 3 aka S3

Suriya fans are awaiting the release of the star’s next movie Singam 3 aka S3. It is the third installment in the popular Singam franchise. The movie recently went a title change from S3 to C3. The title change just before a week from the movie’s release has surprised everyone. It has been learnt from industry sources that the makers changed the title for for tax exemption purpose.

Suriya will once again be donning the khaki as the fearless and forthright cop Durai Singam. The movie features two female leads in Shruti Haasan and Anushka Shetty. Bollywood actor Thakur Anoop Singh is playing the baddie in this movie. Radhika Sarath Kumar, Robo Shankar, Krish, Nasser, Radha Ravi and many others are playing supporting characters in the movie.

Suriya meanwhile is busy with promotions for the movie. The actor has been visiting several cities in Tamil Nadu for the past one week. He is currently in Kerala where he will be interacting with fans and media persons in a meeting organised in Trivandrum.

Interestingly, the Kerala theatrical rights of the movie was acquired by the actor’s fans association in the state.

The movie is finally releasing on January 26 after a lot of postponing. It was initially scheduled to release for Diwali last
year but was postponed to December first week. It was again pushed to a week. Finally the makers decided to release the movie on January 26.

The film is releasing amid great hype and is expected to do well at the box-office. Harris Jayaraj has composed the music for this mass entertainer produced by KE Gnanavel Raja under the banner Studio Green and Aadnah Arts.

Dangal becomes Aamir Khan’s 8th movie to enter the IMDB Top 250 list

Aamir Khan’s latest release Dangal has been continuing its amazing run raking in huge numbers at the box office, both domestic and in the international market. Recently the movie entered the elite list of IMDB’s top 250 movies.

IMDB(International Movie Data Base) is the world’s biggest movie website where movie buffs around the world analyze the critic ratings, audience ratings, cast and crew names and other details regarding a movie.

Dangal is Aamir Khan’s eighth movie in the list currently ranked at 97 with a rating of 8.3. Other Aamir Khan movies in the list are Taare Zameen Par, 3 Idiots, Lagaan, Rang De Basanti, Dil Chahta Hai, PK and Andaz Apna Apna.

Ever since the movie was released on December 23, it has getting great response from the audience. Directed by Nitish Tiwari, Dangal is a sports drama inspired from the real life of Mahavir Singh Phogat, a wrestler from Haryana who trained his two daughters-Geetha Kumari Phogat and Babita Kumari Phogat to world class wrestlers.

Aamir Khan played Mahavir Singh Phogat in this movie and Sakshi Tanwar played his wife. The girls’ parts were played by Fathima Sana Sheikh, Zaira Wasim, Suhani Bhatnagar and Sanya Malhotra.

Dangal is currently the highest grossing Bollywood movie after it overhauled the collections of another Aamir Khan starrer PK.

Dileep is threatening Exhibitors Federation members : Liberty Basheer

There seems to be no end to the troubles between the various cinema associations even after the strike has been called off. Exhibitors Federation president Liberty Basheer has now alleged that actor Dileep is threatening the federation members to join the new union. He has written a letter to the Cheif Minister for a settlement over the issue.

Liberty Basheer’s Liberty complex in Thalassery, Federation general secretary Shaju Augustine Akkara’s Akkara Cinemas in Chalakudy, Vice president Santhosh’s Vallakalil cine complex in Mavelikara and 25 other thetares in the State have not obtained the new movies. Movies have not been distributed to Federation members in places like Edappally, Kazhakootam, Tripunithura, Parappanangadi and Manchery.

A new federation was formed with Dileep as the president with many members from the Exhibitors Federation moving to the new union. A meeting has been arranged with Minister AK Balan on 25th where further matters will be decided.

Liberty Basheer has also alleged that the new union with the backing of the producers and distributors association, is not giving new releases to theaters owners who were part of the strike.

However, the producers and distributors have maintained that they have not enforced any kind of blockade. Producers association president G Suresh Kumar has said that the producers and distributors will jointly decide on the theatres where Malayalam movies will be released.

Dulquer Salmaan’s Jomonte Suvisheshangal directed by Sathyan Anthikad will be the first to hit screens on January 19. Mohanlal’s Munthirivallikalal Thalirkkumbol will release the next day on January 20.

We had earlier told you that Dulquer Salmaan’s much anticipated family entertainer Jomonte Suvisheshangal will be releasing on January 19. The movie is directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad and written by Dr Iqbal Kuttippuram. Sethu Mannarkkad has produced the movie under the banner Full Moon Cinemas.

Interestingly, the movie will have no trailer release. Though a teaser and two song promos were released, the makers have decided not to have a trailer. In most cases especially in family entertainers, trailers tend to reveal too many things. May be that’s why the makers have decided against it. Movies like Premam have shown that trailers are not a necessary factor for the success of a movie.

Jomonte Suvisheshangal will revolve around a father-son relationship in a rich family based in Thrissur. While Dulquer is playing the title character, Mukesh is playing his father’s part in the movie. Muthumani and Vinu Mohan play Dulquer’s siblings.

Premam fame Anupama Parameswaran and Kollywood actress Aishwarya Rajesh are the female leads in this movie. A song each featuring both the heroines were earlier released.

The movie comes in with huge expectations for many reasons. This is the first time Dulquer is working with Sathyan Anthikad who is known for weaving endearing tales that are generally welcomed with both hands by the family audience. The director has spoken high of Dulquer’s performance in many interviews. Sources close to the movie inform that the actor has given his career best performance in this movie. Writer Iqbal Kuttippuram’s last three works- Diamond Necklace, Oru Indian Pranayakatha and Vikramadithyan have all been superhits.

Let’s hope that the movie lives up to the expectations and become the first superhit of the new year.

Aamir Khan’s latest release Dangal continues to do great business worldwide breaking several pre-existing box office records. It is now the highest grossing Bollywood movie ever overhauling the record set by PK.

Dangal directed by Nitish Tiwari is an inspiring story about a father who trained his two daughters to world class wrestlers. The movie was inspired from the real life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters Geeta Kumari Phogat and Babita Kumari Phogat.

Recently, Divya Rao the creative producer of UTV Motion Pictures, opened up about how this movie happened in an interview with a national daily.

“A father who transformed a cowshed into a wrestling arena for his daughters”, this striking news from an article made her suggest the idea of a scope for a movie to her creative head. The producers, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala right away accepted the idea and even agreed upon the title Dangal which she suggested.

She said that Aamir Khan was the strongest contender for the father role. The actor was upbeat and gave the thumbs up when he heard the story. If not for Aamir Khan, then they would have approached Mollywood superstar Mohanlal or Kamal Haasan.

It would have been interesting to see Mohanlal stepping into the shoes of Mahavir Singh Phogat. Like Aamir, Mohanlal would have been a great choice. The fact that Mohanlal himself was a wrestler in his early days, his physique and his impeccable acting skills would have certainly justified their choice.

Dangal girl Zaira Wasim’s shocking letter

Zaira Wasim, who played the character of young Geeta Phogat in Aamir Khan’s latest movie Dangal has posted an open letter on her official Facebook page which she later deleted. But the post soon went viral all over the social media platforms.

This was after she met the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehboob Mufti. She was trolled online for meeting the CM. Apparently, the comments did’nt go well with the actress which prompted to her post the apology letter.

The following is her letter,

“This is an open confession/apology. I know that many people have been offended and displeased by my recent actions or by the people I have recently met.

I want to apologise to all those people who I’ve unintentionally hurt and I want them to know that I understand their sentiments behind it especially considering that what had happened over the past 6 months but I hope people can also understand there are certain circumstances that emerge which one cannot control and I hope people still remember that I’m just a 16 years old girl and I hope you treat me accordingly. I’m sorry for what I did but it was not a deliberate decision and I really hope people can forgive me.

There are few more things which are very important and I want to clear them as well. The first and foremost thing is that I am being projected as a role model for Kashmiri youth. I want to make it very clear that I do not want anyone to follow my footsteps or even consider me as a role model. I’m not proud of what I am doing but I want everyone, especially the Youth to know that there are real role models out there whether they be in this time or in our history.

To even consider me as a role model would be disgracing them and their disgrace would be OUR DISGRACE! I do not wish to start an argument here, this was just a mere confession from my end which I really wanted people to know. May Allah bless us and guide us.”

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s latest release Bairavaa relased on January 12 has touched the 100 crore mark in just four days of its release. The makers have officially announced the news through their official Twitter handle attaching an official poster also.

This is truly a phenomenal record considering the mixed response from critics. Though the collections have been affected by the piracy issues, it has still managed to run with packed audiences in almost all the theatres. Bairavaa had some added advantages as it was released during the Pongal festival season with absence of other big movies. That has certainly helped the movie reach the three figure mark within the first four days itself.

Bairavaa, directed by Azhagiya Tamizh Magan fame Bharathan, is a typical Tamil mass entertainer with the usual commercial elements. The movie has equal ingredients of humour, songs, action sequences, punch dialogues and goosebumps inducing moments that is enough to please the actor’s massive fan base.

The movie deals with a very relevant social issue- corruption in medical colleges and the plight of students, who have no assurances even after paying huge sums of money for a seat.

Keerthy Suresh has played the female lead in this movie. Other supporting actors include Tollywood actor Jagpathi Babu, Daniel Balaji, Sathish, Thambi Ramaiah, Sija Rose, Aparna Vinod, Vijaraghavan, Seema G Nair, Harish Uthaman etc.

The cinema strike called by the exhibitors federation destroyed what could have been an exciting Christmas season with some highly anticipated movies releasing back to back. Nevertheless, the movies will start hitting the screens from this week. Dulquer Salmaan’s Jomonte Suvisheshangal is the first to release on January 19 followed by Mohanlal’s Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol on the next day.

Among the two movies, expectations are higher for the Dulquer Salmaan starrer. The movie marks the first time union of Dulquer with veteran director Sathyan Anthikkad. Sources close to the movie inform that Dulquer has given his career best performance. The director also rated Dulquer’s performance very highly sharing some experiences during the shoot.

The movie is written by popular scriptwriter Dr Iqbal Kuttippuram whose last 3 movies-Diamond Necklace, Oru Indian Pranayakatha and Vikramadithyan all enjoying a theatrical run of over 100 days. Mukesh is also playing a very prominent character in this movie as Dulquer’s father.

On the other hand, Munthirivallikalal Thalirkkumbol is directed by one film old Jibu Jacob who has proved his mettle with his debut movie Vellimoonga. We can expect some fun moments between Mohanlal and Meena, who are playing a couple once again. If the trailer is any indication, then it is a family entertainer that deals with family values and relationships.

The movie is written by M Sindhuraj based on the short story Pranayopanishad. It is a story based on a middle aged couple, but we have seen a similar one recently in Anuraga Karikkin Vellam in the portions between Biju Menon and Asha Sarath. We believe that the movie has more to offer than the usual family drama scenes.

Let’s hope that both the movies can achieve box office success and officially kick-start a great year for Malayalam cinema.
