This movie directed by debutant Khalid Rahman and scripted by Naveen Bhaskar had once again proved that if a film has life in it, then there is no matter whether it has a big star in it or not. It will enthrall the audience.

Anuraga Karikkin Vellam which released along with some big releases in this Eid season is still going strong in Kerala when other Eid release had bowed out from the scene. As per the latest collection report, the movie had grossed over 9.40 crore from its 23 days of run here in Kerala. The movie is showing steady performance in the box office and going great at small screens.

Even though it had a slow start, the great appreciation from people helped it to pick up the pace in box office and now it is finished as the Numero Uno at box office in the Eid race. Prithviraj had produced this flick and this film definitely is a jewel in the crown of August Cinemas.

The film also helped Asif Ali to make a grand comeback and the performances from artists like Biju Menon, Asha Sharath also helped the movie. The standout performer in this flick is none other than the debutant female lead of this movie and her name is Rajisha Vijayan.

Few days back, a fake news had spread against Mohanlal that, his Telugu dubbing is not at all good and the Telugu director Koratala Siva who had directed Mohanlal starrer Telugu movie named Janata Garage is quite upset with Mohanlal’s dubbing. But, when we Onlookers Media contacted the team behind the movie, they said that it was a fake news and Mohanlal not even started the dubbing for his parts in the movie. He will only start it after completing the Jibu Jacob movie in August, in which he is acing now.

Now, director Koratala Siva himself had come out through Media and said that the report which is spreading against Mohanlal is absolute fake. He said that Mohanlal had only dubbed a few dialogues for the teaser of this movie and he had not started the dubbing of main sequences. Koratala Siva said that it was him who insisted that Mohanlal should give his own voice in the Telugu version too.

He said that Mohanlal is a perfectionist and he never makes any error relates to his work. Koratal Siva told to media that he is clueless about the origin of this fake news. According to him, Mohanlal possess a unique voice and his dialogue delivery style is also a masterpiece. That is why he insisted Mohanlal to dub for himself in Telugu as well.

Koratala Siva says that he is in touch with Mohanlal and talks to him every day and everything related to this movie. Mohanlal is a man who takes into account every minute details while dubbing his parts. He gives utmost care to the diction, sound modulations and he had learned the Telugu language to dub in this movie and for that effort alone we have to salute him. As Telugu is a completely new language for him, he will take some time to control it at his own will and he can’t finish it as easily as he does in his mother tongue and it is natural, says Koratala Siva.

Mammootty starrer White directed by Uday Ananthan had released all over on 29th July and opened to negative reviews from all around. The film touted as a romantic movie failed to attract and satisfy the audience and even the fans of Mammootty is dissatisfied with this product that come out from their star. The box office performance of the movie too reflects this worse situation in which the movie is in.

As per the reports coming in from trade guides in the industry, the first day gross of this movie from Kerala is just around 29 lakhs and it was one of the poorest openings a super star movie ever took in Mollywood. Last year Mammootty starrer Acha Din, which released in the Eid season had took the lowest ever opening for a Super Star movie by grossing just 18 lakhs on its first day. Now with White, Mammooty had hit another low in his career.

Film lovers and fans are of the opinion that if Mammootty does this kind of movie, it will kill the expectation and trust on him by the viewers here in Kerala. Eros International had produced this movie and Bollywood beauty Huma Qureshi played the female lead in it.

The multiplex collection of the movie is also going down in great pace. On its first day, the multiplex gross of the movie from Ernakulam was 4.59 Lakhs and on its second itself it dropped down to 3 lakh+.

Mega Star Mammootty to come up with some big movies in the coming future. He will do movies in Tamil and Malayalam and had committed to a handful of projects as per reports. His upcoming release will be Thoppil Joppan directed by Johny Antony and it will hit the screens on this coming October. He is now acting in a Tamil movie named Peranbu directed by Ram and it will also release this year as per reports.

His next movie will start filming in this coming September and it will be directed by debutant Haneef Adeni. Young superstar Prithviraj’s August Cinemas will produce this movie and as per reports, Nayan Thara is roped in to play the female lead in it.

Then he will have a project from Shyam Dhar, who had directed the movie 7th day in 2014. In that movie, Mammootty will play an Idukki Native. Popular Kollywood director Linguswamy also will do a project with Mammootty in the lead and it will start by the end of this year. There were reports that Tamil director Seenu Ramasamy also planning a movie with him in Tamil.

In Malayalam he will have a project from a debutant director named Sarath and it will start in 2017. A project named One Two Three also announced for him by a debutant named Saji, which will be scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam. There are reports that Mammootty will have projects from Shafi as well next year and his Madhupal movie Karnnan is also in the pre-production stage as per reports.

Few days back there were reports that Happy Wedding director Omar is also planning a movie with Mammootty in which he may play a goonda from Kochi.

Prithviraj to star in Detroit Crossing

Prithviraj who is of late on a signing spree has officially confirmed his new project through his social media page. The movie is apparently titled Detroit Crossing, a another crossover movie after Ivde. Nirmal Sahadev who earlier assisted Shyamaprasad in Ivde, another Prithviraj starrer, is directing this crime drama which is again set in the US. It was during the shooting of Ivde that Nirmal Sahavdev narrated the story to Prithviraj and together they have been working on the project for over an year now.

Detroit Crossing will be entirely shot in the city of Detroit, Michigan. The director informs that the story is inspired from certain true events, and happens around the street gangs in the cities of Detroit and Toronto. These areas were notorious for Tamil street gangs as well. Prithviraj is playing a character who gets involved in such a gang, and how gets out from these gangs. There will also be a lot of romantic elements to it as well. The makers are yet to zero in on a female lead.

The film will be a bilingual and will be made in Malayalam and Tamil, probably English as well. Since there are a lot of Tamil elements in the movie,the makers are trying to rope in some big names from the Tamil film industry. Detroit Crossing is proposed as a big budget project. The shooting is set to begin only by the end of this year or early next year.

Meanwhile the director who also worked as the chief associate director in the Fahad Fazil starrer Monsoon Mangoes, is all praise for Prithviraj. Nirmal considers him as an amazing mentor and a great friend who is straightforward and dedicated.

Prithviraj’s upcoming release is Oozham,a crime thriller directed by Jeethu Joseph, expected to hit the screens on September 9th. Ezra, My story, Tiyaan ,Beautiful Game, Karnan are his other projects waiting in the pipeline.

Even after getting mixed reviews from all around, Rajinikanth starrer Kabali is making new records in box office. As per the reports coming in from official sources, the film had earned around 380 crores from its 7 day run from worldwide. From India alone it had grossed near 200 crores and from overseas market as well the flick had got great figures.

Now, a latest update coming from Kollywood which says that Kabali will have a sequel as well. Director and writer of this movie, Pa Ranjith himself had indicated about this plan while talking to media during the success celebration of the movie in Chennai.

The film is ended in such a way that there is a scope for the sequel of this movie. It kept a suspense at the end of the climax portion. Earlier reports came in that Kalaipuli S Thanu who produced this movie showed his interest in making its sequel and reports also said that he even asked Pa Renjith to do it as his next movie. Rajinikanth not came for the success party due to some personal inconvenience and people are waiting for his reaction on this news. He is busy with Enthiran 2 by Shankar now.

Reports also said that Kabali may be remade to Bollywood and Amitab Bachchan will play the title character in the Hindi version. As of now, it is only a rumor and no confirmation had come yet. The film had made waves in Kerala as well by collecting more than 13 crore from just 7 days.

Popular Kollywood director Lingusamy is all set to join hands with Mollywood Super Star Mammootty for a movie. It will be their second association, as earlier they had joined together for a movie named Anandam which released in the year 2001. It was the first venture of Lingusamy as a director. Mammootty had heard the screenplay recently and agreed to do the movie as per reports. The shooting of this movie will start in this coming December and other details of this movie will be revealed later.

Linguswamy had directed movies like Run with Madhavan, Sandakozhi with Vishal, Bheema with Vikram, Payya with Karthi, Vettai with Arya and Anjan with Suriya as well. There were reports that Lingusamy is planning Sandakozhi 2 with Vishal.

But now there is no information about that Vishal movie and it looks like that was postponed because Mammootty had given his dates to Lingusamy  for this upcoming project. We are not yet sure that it will be a bilingual movie or not.

Mammootty is now acting in a Tamil movie named Peranbu which is directing by Ram, who shot to fame through the critically acclaimed national award winning movie named Thankameenkal. Suraj Venjarammoodu also playing an important role this movie in which Anjali plays the female lead. There were reports that he will do another Tamil movie with Seenu Ramasamy as well next year.

Kabali, the film released here on July 22 is now going down in box office and the drop in its collection after the first weekend is consistent. This Pa Ranjith directorial Rajinikanth starrer had got mixed response from the audience, but made a terrific start at box office here. It had grossed near 10.45 crores from its first 3 days and this was a new weekend record here in Kerala.

Then the collection started to drop down once the working days are started. The 4th day figure was around 82 lakhs and then it dropped consistently. But the film hold on to its major share of screens in its first week and as per the latest reports coming in from trade guides here, the movie had grossed around 13.40 crores from its first 7 days run here. This is also a record when we consider the first week figures of movies released in Kerala till now.

The share got by the movie is 6.23 crore and it was indeed a great achievement for Aashirvad Cinemas to get this amount in just one week time. They bought the rights of this movie for 7.5 crore and they now has a good chance to earn profit comfortably.

In Ernakulam multiplexes, the movie had grossed more than 1 crore from just 6 days and there too it had set a new record by surpassing records set by Charlie and Jacobinte Swarga Rajyam which crossed the 1 crore mark from there in 9 days.

Mollywood Super Star Mohanlal was busy with some big budget projects in his career and had no releases till now this year. His last release here was in last year October. But in the meantime he had completed 4 movies and doing his 5th movie now. He had completed two Telugu movies and Two Malayalam movies in this time gap. Now those films are getting ready for release here.

There are two class ones among those four movies and two of them will be mass entertainers as well. He had really mixed it up well this time. Vismayam/Manamantha, directed by Chandrashekhar Yeleti and Oppam directed by Priyadarshan are the films which said to have used Mohanlal as an actor more than as a star. In Vismayam, he plays an ordinary man who works in a super market. In Oppam, he plays a blind man who is a lift operator. Vismayam will hit the screens on this coming August 5th and Oppam will be his Onam release.

His mass films are Janatha Garage and Puli Murugan directed by Koratala Siva and Vysakh respectively. Janatha Garage is the Telugu movie in which he is playing the lead along with Jr. NTR. Puli Murugan will be the biggest budget movie in his career till now and he is playing a wild hunter in this movie. Janata Garage will hit the screens all over on this September 2 and Puli Murugan said to be releasing on October 7.

Thus, Mohanlal is all set to conquer the Kerala Box office with his class and mass avatars and all set to make this year his own.
