Baahubali 2 broke Kabali distribution rights record in Kerala !

Super Star Rajinikanth starrer movie Kabali had released here in Kerala on July 22 and it had made some new box office records here. But before that it had made a record here in Kerala related to the distribution right it got from here. Kabali is distributed here by Ashirvad Cinemas owned by Super Star Mohanlal and producer Antony Perumbavoor. They bought the distribution rights of this movie for the price of 7.5 crore which was a new record here in Mollywood.

Earlier the record was 5.6 crore, for which Vijay starrer movie Theri rights is bought by Friday Film House in association with Carnival motion pictures. Now, Global United Media which released Baahubali-The Beginning and Vikram-Shankar movie I here, had bought the distribution rights of Baahubali 2 aka Baahubali-The Conclusion, for a whopping price of 10.5 crore. The official confirmation had not yet come but reports are doing its round in film field saying so.

If it is true, then Baahubali 2 had started off here by breaking a record set by Kabali. Baahubali 2, which is the most awaited sequel in Indian Film industry right now, is in the final stages of its filming and they are planning to release it in 2017 April. SS Rajamauli is directing this movie and Prabhas is playing the lead in it.

Baahubali part one was the 3rd biggest success in Indian Cinema and the anticipation level for Baahubali 2 is damn too high.

It had grossed over 600 crores from its worldwide run and finished second behind Aamir Khan’s PK which stands at the top with close to 750 crores from worldwide run. The film Bajrangi Bhaijaan was directed by Kabir Khan and scripted by Vijayendra Prasad who is the father of SS Rajamouli and he is the one who wrote Baahubali.

Bollywood Super Star Salman Khan had played the lead in the movie and it has been regarded as one of his best performances ever in his career. Now this team of Kabir Khan and Salman Khan is uniting again for a movie named Tube Light. Kabir Khan officially confirmed the project and said that they will start the filming from this 28th July.

Kismath Malayalam Movie Review

Kismath is an emotional love story of a Hindu girl and a Muslim boy. As cliched as it can get. But there is more it. The fact that this movie is inspired from a real life love story works big time for Kismath. Kismath gained the right popularity among the audience with the intense trailer and also with the release of the beautiful audio tracks that has already topped the charts.

The story happens in Ponnani where a 23 year old boy Irfan fall in love with a 28 year old girl Anitha. They seek the help of law to protect them and end up in a police station. Kismath deals with the misleading social and cultural values of the society. There is also a subplot showing the darker side of the police station.

Shane Nigam and Shruthi Menon, the lead pair have given a terrific performance. Towards the climax portions we would start yearning for them and they really do moist our eyes at many scenes. Shane Nigam especially with his boy next door looks and sore eyes fits in perfectly for the character Irfan. The Ponnani accent sounded very authentic and real. Another stand out performer is Vinay Fort as the tough and intimidating police officer.

Director Shanavas K Bavakutty has taken a realistic approach with very few commercial elements. All credits to him for that would have spoiled the whole nature and mood of the movie. Music was really good with the heavenly “Kisa Pathiyil” used in the background aptly. The song Nilamanaltharikalil was also well shot showing how they fall in love and some candid moments. Another major asset of this movie is the running time.

Another major asset of this movie is the running time. Kismath has a running time of only 110 minutes,  so there is no real lag in the narration and thereby limiting the melodrama that is usually associated with such movies. A round of applause for Lal Jose for showing the willingness and courage to distribute a movie majorly with newcomers.

All said, the movie has its own shortcomings in the making part. Also better writing with much more depth and clarity would have made the movie more intense.

In total, Kismath is worth a watch for all those who love emotional drams.

White Malayalam Movie Review

White Malayalam Movie Review

White is the latest release in Mollywood and this film had come from the team of Megastar Mammootty and Uday Ananthan. Uday Ananthan had earlier given us the movie named Pranayakalam with Ajmal Ameer and Vimala Raman in the lead. He had also directed a segment titled Mrithyunjayam in the anthology movie named Kerala Cafe. This movie White was in the news because of its star cast. Along with Mammootty, the other artist who plays the lead in this movie is Huma Qureshi, the Bollywood beauty. White is touted as a romantic flick and it is written by Praveen Balakrishnan, Nandini Valsan and Uday Ananthan. Eros International had produced this movie and they are distributing it as well.

The film did not created any anticipation level before release and it did not even created a hype among the fans of Mammootty. The film revolves around two characters named Prakash Roy and Roshni played by Mammootty and Huma Qureshi. Prakash Roy is a middle aged businessman, financial analyst to be precise, settled in London and Huma plays a young software engineer named Roshni. The flick starts with Roshni moving to London for an overseas assignment as a part of her job. There she meets Prakash Roy accidently. At first she did not liked him, but when he followed her daily, both of them become friends. Later Roshni feels a romantic inclination towards him.

We have to say that Uday Ananthan had failed to give a decent output. Only the setting looked fresh. It was more or less like something was missing somewhere. The screenplay of the movie failed to make the audience fully convinced about the situations in the plot and dialogues too looked artificial at places. The narration was not that smooth and that resulted the movie to go in a low pace which did not went well with the audience as well. The director never really looked like he was in control of the proceedings. White moved like a tedious experience for the audience and it never really took off to make the audience curious.

The factor which made it look like a decent output at times is the performance from Mammootty. His stylish looks were the only thing that had given something to cheer about for his fans. Both Mammootty and Huma Qureshi did a very good job as Prakash Roi and Roshni. Mammootty was looking handsome as ever and he did justice to the character who has some romantic shade to it. Usually when it comes to romance, people believes that Mammootty is not that great. But this time he had done a neat job. Huma Qureshi did a decent job. She was looking beautiful and given a really matured performance as Roshni. Her lip syncing looked not that great though.

Artists like Shankar Ramakrishnan, Siddique, KPAC Lalitha, Sunil Sugatha, Sona Nair, Cristian Lazar, Daniel Eghan, Tearry Konjanthed, Lisa Ronaghan, John Millichap etc did a decent job. Amarjeet Singh’s DOP was just stunning and he really given us the beauty of London and Budapest. Achu Vijayan’s editing was not that great and if it was more crisp, then it would have been helped the movie to get more pace. Rahul Raj had tuned the songs for this movie. The background scoring was terrible and songs were just average.

IDI is the upcoming malayalam movie directed by Sajid Yahiya and Jayasurya is playing the lead in it. He is playing a police officer in this movie and his character name is Dawood Ibrahim. Inspector Dawood Ibrahim aka IDI is the title of this flick which is an action thriller which has importance to comedy. The trailer of the movie has been released and getting great response. Before that its first look poster also made big impact in social media. Now, a special poster was released by the team behind the film to honor the villain characters in the movie.

The new poster had given importance to the actors who had played the negative characters in this movie and they said that a hero is as good as his Villain. A hero looks powerful only if the villain is a powerful one. A meek or feeble villain will only weaken the hero. So the IDI team had decided to honor the villain characters in their movie by designing a special poster for them.

Rajnikanth’s new release named Kabali is showing good box office performance even after getting negative response from fans and critics. The film, which released on July 22 had got an earth shattering opening and set many collection records as well in its opening weekend. As per the latest reports that is coming in from trade guides, the film had got around 150 crores from domestic market alone, in just 5 days.

In its first 3 days or in its first weekend, it had got around 125 crores from India and from the next two working days, it got around 25 crores from here. Even though working days showing big drop, the prime time shows are doing good in main areas of South India.

The film had got around 53 crores from Tamil Nadu in 5 days. From Nizam and Andhrapradesh regions, it had got around 36 crores and Karnataka had contributed near 21 crores. From Kerala it minted over 12 crore from 5 days and from rest of India it got more than 30 crores from its first 5 days run.

From its overseas market, it had minted around 100 crores and the total worldwide gross of the movie is now around 250 crores from 5 days. In US and UK, the flick is going great and the Malay version will release soon as well. The flick had to cross 300 crores in order to earn profit for all distributors and producer.

Honey Bee was the movie that marked the debut of Jean Paul Lal aka Lal Jr as a film maker here in Mollywood. Young star Asif Ali, Bhavana, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Babu Raj, Lal, Vijay Babu, Archana Kavi etc played the lead characters in it and it was a box office success.

The dialogues in the movie had become a trend among the youngsters here and it was indeed a big break in the career of Asif Ali as well. Later Asif Ali and Lal Jr done a movie together named Hi, I am Tony. But it was a box office failure. Now, they all set to try their luck with the sequel of Honey Bee, which is titled as Honey Bee 2. The film will come to the screens this year itself.

The director says that he took enough time to come up with this project and he is very confident about this. But his last film Sahasam not really did well there and with Manamantha/Vismayam, he is looking for a grand comeback.

The teaser and trailer of the movie is getting great reception from all around. Chandrashekar Yeleti said that he chose Mohanlal to play this character named Sairam in this movie, because he felt that only Mohanlal can do justice to this character.

Actor Siddique is playing an important character in this film and it will be his first association with Amal Neerad. Amal Neerad and Dulquer Salman had earlier worked together for Kullante Bharya, which was a segment in the anthology movie named 5 Sundarikal.
