Salman Khan’s Sultan all set to join the 100 crore club

Salman Khan’s latest release Sultan released to positive reviews all over the world. Sultan has also got the box office opening trade as expected. Sultan collected 36.54 crores from the first day itself. Simce Sultan was released on Wednesday, a day before Eid, the 2nd day collections are expected to be anything between 38-40 crores. According to trades the film is expected to reach 100 crores comfortably in 3 days. Sultan waa released in 4500 screens all across the globe.

Eid was always reserved for Salaman Khan releases and was no different this year. His movies cash in on this festive season and box office records are more often rewritten. In 2015 Salman’s Eid release was the Bhajrangi Bhaijaan which went on to become the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema history. In 2014 his Eid release was Kick another 100 crore movie.

Sultan directed by Ali Abbas Zafar is an Indian sports drama produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj films banner, the film has Salman playing Sultan Ali Khan, a wrestler who has problems in his professional and personal life. From a small town wrestler in Haryana, Sultan achieves global fame winning bouts at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, the 2011 FILA Wrestling World Championships in Istanbul and the 2012 London Olympics. Anushka Sharma is the lead lady playing an equally important role of Arafa, a woman wrestler. She is playing the love interest of Sultan Ali Khan.

Sultan is not a typical Salman Khan mass masala movie. It is a sports drama with a tight script and excellent performances from the lead cast. In terms of biggest first-day openings, Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express with Rs 44.9 crore is the biggest. It is followed by Salman’s Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo with Rs 40 crore. Trade is said that Sultan has made Rs 36.54 crore on day one and the number only went up on day 2. Records are expected to tumble in the coming days.

Trade is counting on Sultan to earn over Rs 150 crore in the first weekend. A five-day weekend, the second day of its release being the Eid holiday, a bumper opening and solid word of mouth are big factors that are favouring Sultan to hit the 150 core mark in the first weekend itself. Also, Sultan is getting good reports form critics and common man alike. Till now, the biggest weekend grosser is Prem Ratan Dhan Payo that managed Rs 129.7 crore business despite being slammed by critics. So Sultan is all set to become one of the biggest blockbusters in Bollywood ever and box office collection records are surely to be written.

It is for the diehard fans of Mammootty and not aimed at family audience as well. Anuraga Karikkin Vellam is directed by debutant Khalid Rahman and scripted by Naveen Bhaskar. Asif Ali and Biju Menon played the lead roles in it. The film is produced by August Cinemas and got great reviews from all over. It is a family feel good entertainer aimed at the youth and family audience alike. The film is by far the best movie which released in this Eid season as per reviews from critics and common mass.

As per the latest report coming in from trade guides, the flick had recorded the biggest opening of movie in India this year and it also recorded the second best ever opening by a movie here in Indian Cinema history. The film had got more than 36.5 crores from its day 1 in India.

This year, the previous best openings were Sharukh Khan’s Fan which got 19 crore+ and Akshay Kumar’s Houseful 3 (15crore+) and Airlift (12 crore+). But Salman Khan thrashed all that by a big margin and proved that when it comes to box office, he is the real Sultan in Bollywood. The flick also set the record of second best ever opening got by an Indian Movie here. The record is with Salman Khan himself, as his last year movie named Prem Ratan Dhan Payo had got more than 40 crore rupees on its first day from India.

Even though Megastar Mammootty was giving us some quality films like Pathemari, Varsham, Munnariyippu etc in the last few years, his films did not got the desired box office successes. Specifically from the year 2011, only a very few films of him had made ripples in box office and that too not in a great manner. There were rumors spread that he had lost his fan power and his crowd pulling capacity is dipping miserably. But the Megastar is now back with a bang by creating a flurry of records in YouTube and box office with his film named Kasaba which released last day.

Kasaba had created a new first day record here in Mollywood by breaking the record set by Kali, which was directed by Sameer Thahir and Dulquer Salmaan played the lead in it. Kasaba got a whopping amount near 2.48 crore by surpassing Kali’s 2.33 crores. It shows that the fans are still with the mega star if they are given what they want from him.

This film had made another 4 records as well. At first it broke Mohanlal starrer Puli Murugan movie’s 24 hour teaser view record. Then it had become the fastest Malayalam movie teaser to cross the 1 Million views in YouTube, surpassing Puli Murugan teaser record again. After setting that record, it went on to become the first Malayalam movie teaser to cross 15 Lakh views in YouTube. Kasaba made another record as well last day when it had almost 36 extra shows in the night after the second shows got over.

Thus Mammootty had back on to the track of records and it seems like he got back the fans power of his, which is said to be lost few years before due to some continuous failures. Let’s hope that he will continue this good form for a long period from now.

As per the reports that coming in, the film had grossed 2.48 crore on its first day from Kerala and previous best was 2.33 cr+ grossed by Kali this year March.

This is the first time that a Mammootty movie is entering the 2 crore club on the opening day and when it happened, it was in a grand style as well. Last day the film had set another record as well by playing 36 extra shows after the second shows in Kerala.

The Telugu teaser had become the fastest Telugu movie teaser to reach 1 million view mark in YouTube and the Malayalam version of the teaser had recorded close to 580K estimated views in 24 hour time.

In real time views as well it had surpassed all existing dubbed teaser records in Mollywood. Earlier, the record was with Baahubali teaser when it comes to the 24 hour view count of a dubbed movie teaser in Mollywood. Janata Garage Malayalam teaser had thrashed it by a huge margin. The Mohanlal impact was in fact unbelievable and the Malayalam teaser of the movie is going to create the fastest 1 million views here in Mollywood as well.

The film is getting mixed reviews and the first report says that it is a film for the fans of Mammootty, who can celebrate the mega star show. The movie had come after creating great hype in social media before release and that hype had helped the movie to get a great reception all over Kerala on the first day.

Yesterday, it had made a record here in Kerala, as the film had 36 extra shows after the second Shows in Kerala and it is for the first time in Mollywood that a film had got this much extra shows, after the second shows on first day.

Tollywood hit maker Koratala Siva had directed this movie which is produced by Mythri Movie Makers. They will release the Malayalam version of this film as well along with the Telugu version.

Farhan Fazil, the younger brother of actor Fahad Fazil and the son of master director Fazil is all set to come with his second project. He had made his debut here in Mollywood as a hero through the movie Njan Steve Lopez directed by Rajeev Ravi. That movie had got great critical reception. Now he is coming up with his second movie and it is titled as Basheerinte Premalekhanam. The movie will be directed by Aneesh Anwar and scripted by a trio named Shinod Shivam, Shamseer Ahammad and Bipin K Paulose.

Aneesh Anwar had earlier directed movies like Mullamottum Munthiricharum, Zakariyayude Garbhinikal and Kumbasaram. Kumbasaram and Zakariyayude Garbhinikal had got great critical reception and the latter one has got Kerala State Award for best story. Sana Althaf who made her debut through Vikramadithyan is playing the female lead in this movie, which will be a period film set in 1980’s.

Kammattipadam fame actor Manikandan also will be playing an important character in this movie. As per reports, the evergreen romantic pair of Madhu and Sheela will also be roped in to the movie to play pivotal characters.

This will be a romantic movie as the title suggests and will start rolling very soon as well. Hoping that Farhan Fazil will make a grand return with Basheerinte Premalekhanam and become a popular actor here in Mollywood like his brother.
