James and Alice Collection Report – 14 Days

Prithviraj seems to be travelling from a good phase to the bad phase. His recent film James and Alice also did not made any impact in box office. The film directed by Sujith Vasudev had released on May 5 and ended up getting only below average reviews from all over. That affected its box office collections as well as expected.

The film had took only an average opening collecting below 1 crore from day one here in Kerala. It never really picked up after that. As per the latest reports coming in from Trade Pandits here, the film had grossed around 6.3 crore from 14 days of its run here. It is not at all a healthy figure considering the star value of Prithviraj

The share of this film is below 3 crore rupees and it is not a success at all when we consider the box office response of the film. Prithviraj’s last film Darwinte Parinamam also ended up as only an average grosser at box office. He had cruised with continuous success from last year.

He had started his winning streak with Ennu Ninte Moideen and later came super hits like Amar Akbar Anthony, Anarkkali and Pavada. Pavada was released in this year January. Even though he had begun with a super hit this year, the rest of 2016 till now is a disappointment for him.

School Bus Review

School Bus Review

School Bus is the major release this Friday in Mollywood. This flick has been directed by none other than popular director Roshan Andrews and written by the most popular script writing duo in Kerala now, Bobby Sanjay. Kunchacko Boban and Jayasurya playing the lead characters in this movie which has artists like Aparna Gopinath, Aakash Muraleedharan (child artist) and Angelina Roshan (Child artist) etc as well. Angelina Roshan is the daughter of director Roshan Andrews and she is playing the major character in this film along with Aakash Muraleedharan. School Bus is produced by AV Anoop under his banner of AVA Productions and it is distributed here by Central pictures.

The plot of the film revolves around the characters named Ajoy, Angelina, Gopakumar, Joseph and Aparnna played by Aakash, Angelina, Kunchacko Boban, Jayasurya, Aparna Gopinath respectively. Gopa Kumar is a Sub Inspector and Joseph is a sales executive. He is a very strict father as well. The story begins with showing the life of the family of joseph. Ajoy and Angelina are his children. One day Ajoy creates a problem in school and one boy was admitted in hospital. To escape from punishment from parents and teachers, both Ajoy and Angelina begins to bunk school. There the story takes off.

We have to say that Roshan Andrews had again came up with a superb cinematic experience. We all know what he is capable of as a director. He once again showed the quality he has when it comes to the narration of a story. School Bus is a completely different film from him. It is a family subject and at the same time a thriller as well. He narrated the story from the perspective of the children and never lost his grip on the proceedings. He kept it simple and at the same time never let the intensity of the plot down.

Screenplay by Bobby and Sanjay once again contributed big time to the success of Roshan Andrews as a director. The chemistry between the writers and director was evident in the film. Each characters were given their own clear identity and each situation was logical and convincing for the viewer. The dialogues also were very natural as for most part children took the center stage. When it comes to the side of the performance from artists we have to say that the two children, Aakash and Angelina had given a fabulous performance. They really given a cool performance and never let the artificiality to come in to their dialogue delivery and movements.

Kunchacko Boban was as usual given a very good performance and Jayasurya once again showed us the growth he had as an actor. He had given a really matured performance as Joseph. Aparna Gopinath did her part neatly as well. The technical side was superb as well. CK Muraleedharan is known for his works in Bollywood films like PK and 3 idiots. He had made his debut here in Mollywood superb. The visuals were fabulous and really captured the atmosphere of the plot with his frames. Gopi Sundar’s music and Vivek Harshan’s Editing also become the plus points for this movie as both had did a fine job. Specially, the background scoring by Gopi sundar was very good.

In total, School Bus is class thriller for families. It conveys a message as well for the parents and it will never let you down as a visual experience as well.

B Rakesh will produce this flick under the banner of Universal Cinemas.

When the name of popular stars feature in a news, people attracted more towards it. The latest example of this is the fake news related to Kabali, the Rajinikanth starrer Tamil film directed by Pa Renjith. The news that doing its round in social media says that Mollywood Super Star Mammootty is playing a suspense role in Rajni Kanth’s upcoming film Kabali.

The news tells that Mammootty is playing an extended cameo in it and some says he plays the role of a police officer in the movie. But the news is an absolutely fake one and there is no truth in this news. Kabali is all set to release on July 1.

Mammootty is busy with his works for Thoppil Joppan and his film Kasaba will hit the screens here on July 7.

We had reported earlier that Dulquer Salmaan film Kammatipaadam directed by Rajeev Ravi in Malayalam is all set to be remade in Hindi and Telugu. Sources also told us that Arjun Kapoor and Akhil Akkineni will be the front runners to do the male leads in those remakes in Hindi and Telugu respectively.

Reports also said that the Hindi version of this film will be directed by Rajeev Ravi himself as he had connections with some popular production studios there at Bollywood because he had worked there in some films. As per the earlier reports, he had already started working on the Hindi remake as well.

But, now he is making things clear about this report that doing its round in social media. He said that talks are going on related to the remake of Kammatipaadam in Hindi and Telugu. But he is not going to direct the remake of this film in Hindi as he has no interest to direct a Hindi film now.

Rajeev Ravi had earlier worked as the cinematographer of acclaimed Bollywood films such as Dev D, Gangs of Vasseypur etc and film like Udtha Pnjab is on its way in which he worked as cameraman. He got Film Fare award for best cinematographer in 2010 for Dev D as well. But as of now he has no plans to make a film in Hindi and he want to concentrate only in Malayalam Cinema. Kammattipadam is going well now here in Kerala with good reports from all over.

Pranayam was one of the finest films ever made in Mollywood and the performance of Mohanlal in that film as the paralyzed character named Mathews is regarded as one of the best ever performance by an Indian actor. Mohanlal had won great critical appreciation and many awards as well for that performance. Pranayam was considered as one of Blessy’s best films as director.

Blessy- Mohanlal team had given us 3 films and all of them become classics in Malayalam Cinema. Thanmathra was the first association of this team which had won several state film awards and Mohanlal had won best actor award in State level. He had also reached the final round of National film awards as well that year. Pranayam also helped him to contest at the final round of national film awards. But, Blessy says that Mohanlal and Anupam Kher was not the first choice to do the characters of Mathews and Achyutha Menon in the movie.

Mammootty was in the mind of Blessy to do the character of Achyutha Menon and SP Balasubrahmaniam was approached by the director to play Mathews. Mammootty opted out from the movie due to some problems related to the age of the character and SP Balasubrahmaniam was not sure if he can do the character of Mathews which was a challenging one. Achyutha Menon’s character has more importance in the story than that of Mathews’s.

So Blessy not thought about a legend like Mohanlal to play the character of Mathews as it is not the most important character in the story. But when Mohanlal heard the story from Blessy while they were travelling together, he asked Blessy’s permission to do the role of Mathews. Blessy says that Mohanlal’s great observation to realize the depth of that character had just stunned him.

Blessy said that Mohanlal’s performance as Mathews was just amazing and he elevated that character to another level with his unbelievably natural performance. Even doctors asked Blessy about how they made use of certain mannerisms like scratching the nose by Mathews to establish the character’s paralyzed condition. But Blessy said that it was not told by him to Mohanlal to do that way. It was his own improvisation and it came naturally to him. That is what making this actor better than anyone else.

Mohanlal never prepares for any characters and when the camera get starts he becomes the character. No one know how it is possible and Blessy says Mohanlal himself doesn’t know how it happens. Blessy gives all credit to Mohanlal’s performance and he says that it is because of the marvelous performance by Mohanlal, Thanmathra and Pranayam still remembered and celebrated.

Family members of Kalabhavan Mani to go for hunger strike

The issues related to the death of popular actor Kalabhavan Mani is not yet over and it is getting worse as well. Kalabhavan Mani passed away two months back and there was doubt over his premature death. Police started investigation and at a point there has been rumors that Kalabhavan’s Mani’s death was homicide. But, later the investigation not went forward smoothly and reports came in that there was deliberate efforts going on to stop the investigation.

Kalabhavan Mani’s brother Rama Krishnan and many other came out through Media to express their protest over this, publicly. But, the pace of the investigation gradually died out. Now, the family member of the Late Actor is all set to go for a hunger strike against this attitude by police.

RLV Ramakrishnan, Kalabhavan Mani’s brother told to Media that there is no development in the police investigation and they are not showing any interest to find out the truth behind the suspicious death of his brother. Police had sent the samples taken from Kalabhavan Mani’s body to a lab in Hyderabad for further analysis. But, the report not yet reached here and they are doing nothing to increase the pace of the investigation.

So, as a protest against this, the family members of Mani will be going for a hunger strike on this coming Saturday. The place of the strike will be under the South Fly over Chalakkudy. The strike will start on 7 AM in the morning and it will go on till 7 PM in the evening. This will be conducted as a warning to the police and if they not got ready to move forward with proper investigation, then the family members will think of more hard ways to protest publicly against this.
