Kammatipaadam Review

Kammatipaadam aka Kammatti Paadam was one of the most awaited movie of this summer season and it had hit the screens all over today. This Dulquer Salmaan starrer directed by Rajeev Ravi and produced by Global United Media is making the news for sometimes. Popular actor and director P Balachandran had wrote the screenplay of this movie and the expectation were great around this one as there were reports that the film will tell an underworld story and it will be an action thriller from Rajeev Ravi. But the team behind the film not revealed much about the plot and the characters in the movie.

The plot of this film revolves around the character named Krishnan played by Dulquer Salmaan and the place called Kammatipaadam in Kochi. It is based on the goonda history in Kochi and shows us different periods of its development focusing on the life of Krishnan. The film opens with showing us a wonder Krishnan making his way to somewhere. Then shows some flash back scenes giving us the childhood incidents that shaped Krishnan. Krishnan is now a security officer at Mumbai and one day he got a call from Kochi and it was his friend Gangan. He realized that Gangan is in some sort of serious trouble. Krishnan comes back to Kochi after long years in search of Gangan.

Rajeev Ravi had earlier gave us films like Annayum Rasoolum and Njan Steve Lopez, which were realistic to the core and told love stories. Both those films got great appreciation from critics for its realistic portrayal of life, but failed to register its mark in Box office. So, this time he had tried to do a film which has some mass appeal as well. We can say that he become fully successful in that. But at the same time he kept the class which sets his film apart from usual entertainers. He narrated the film in a very different way and will be a treat for his followers.

Screenplay by P Balachandran also maitained a perfect pace and intensity throughout. The characterisation and development of plot is the highlight of the film and Rajeev Ravi’s craft is very much evident there. Dulquer Salmaan gave a great performance as Krishnan and he is really improving as a actor. He really done a great job while portraying the different phases of Krishnan’s life. He sported 3 different looks in this film and gave life to each phases with ease.

Another great performance came from Vinayakan who was terrific as Gangan, the intimate friend of Krishnan. His change over for this character was too good. The artist who played the character named Balan also amazed us with his brilliant performance. Actors like Vinay Fort, P Balachandran, Suraj Venjarammoodu, Sine Tom Chacko, Alencier, Amalda Liz as Rosamma, Shaun Romy as Anitha, Muthumani, Anjali Aneesh Upasana, Manikandan, Soubin Shaheer, Alencier le, etc also done their part to perfection. DOP by Madhu Neelakandan was one the highlights of this movie as his frames really set the atmosphere which the flick needed to tell the story convincingly. Music by John P Varkey and Vinayakan was very good as well and the background scoring was superb to say the least.

On the whole, Kammatipaadam is a realistic entertainer and those who loves these kind of films will be in for a treat.

Nivin Pauly continues his good form to the third consecutive year as his grip on box office is getting tighter and tighter with each year. This year also Mollywood box office showered blessing on him. At first, his own production Action Hero Biju had made a terrific come back like a phoenix to become the first blockbuster of the year. The film had faced serious degrading in its first week and almost become ashes.

Later his second film of this year named Jacobinte Swargarajyam directed and written by his great friend and mentor Vineeth Sreenivasan, had become the highest grosser of this year in Mollywood, till now. This film had surpassed Dileep starrer King Liar’s record to become the top grosser of the year.

King Liar had collected an amount near 18.7 crore from its 45 days of run here in Kerala. But Jacobinte Swargarajyam surpassed it in just 38 days as it got a gross around 19 crore from here. Both movies are on their way to make a place in the 20 crore club of Mollywood and we have to wait and see whether it happens or not as big releases are coming to take away the major screens in Kerala.

King Liar had released on April 2nd and Jacobinte Swargarajyam had released on April 8.

Rajinikanth’s Kabali release date fixed

Rajinikanth starrer Kabali already created history even before the release of the film. The teaser of the film which released on May 1st had become the 2nd most viewed teaser in world cinema history and broke the records of films like Jurasic World. The film directed by Pa Renjith who shot to fame through his super hit films like Madras and Attakathi, telling the life story of an underworld don in Tamil Nadu named Kabaleeshwaran.

Tamil Super Star Rajinikanth is playing this character Kabali who shifts his center of business from Mailapur, Chennai to Malaysia. The great look of Rajinikanth in this film, with a white beard and moustache, had gone viral in social media and the punch lines he uttered in the teaser also become a trend. Everybody is now eagerly waiting for this avatar from Rajinikanth to hit the screens and the release date of the film is announced as per reports.

The film will hit the screens worldwide on July 1st this year and it will have a record number of screens all over. The film produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu who also produced Theri, is in its last stage of post-production works. Radhika Apte playing the wife character of Rajinikanth and Dhansika playing his daughter. Santhosh Narayan composed the music for this film and artists like Kishore, Nassar, Dinesh Ravi, John Vijay etc playing important characters in this action thriller.

This report is not an officially confirmed one but the buzz is that this might be the release date of the film.

The much awaited Dulquer Salmaan film Kammatipaadam will hit the screens tomorrow. Rajeev Ravi had directed this film based on the screenplay written by P Balachandran, who is a popular actor and director in Mollywood. The film which telling the life story of the character named Krishnan played by Dulquer Salmaan, is based on the history of goonda gangs in Kochi.

Dulquer Salmaan sports 4 different getups in this film as the plot develops from Krishnan’s childhood to the age of 43. This film produced by Prem Menon under the banner of Global United Media will be releasing in 130 screens all over Kerala, which is the second biggest Malayalam release here in Kerala after Mohanlal’s Loham which released in 141 screens all over Kerala last year.

Kammatipaadam is expected to set a new opening day collection record by surpassing the opening day record set by the film Kali starred by Dulquer himself and directed by Sameer Thahir. Kali released in this year March and got around 2.33 crores on its first day from Kerala.
Kali had broken the record set by Mohanlal’s Loham which got 2.20 crores from Kerala on its first day.

Now, the anticipation is that Kammatipaadam which releasing in 130 screen will surpass Kali record and will set a new benchmark regarding the opening day collection in Mollywood. Kammatipaadam is an action film and got A Certificate from Censor board for the overdose of violence in it.

Kammatipaadam, the Rajeev Ravi directorial film starred by Dulquer Salmaan is all set to hit the screens on May 20. The screenplay of this action film is written by popular actor/director P Balachandran. His previous screenplay was for Ivan Megharoopan which was directed by Balachandran himself. He had written some classic films in Malayalam such as Pavithram directed by TK Rajeev Kumar and Ulladakkam directed by Kamal. In those films superstar Mohanlal played the lead role and now Young superstar Dulquer Salmaan is played the lead in his screenplay and he speaks about the experience with Dulquer.

Balachandran said that when he was writing Pavithram and Ulladakkam, Mohanlal was in his mind to play the male lead of the film. But when it comes to Kammatipadam, there was no one in his mind while he was writing the screenplay. The lead character did not even had a proper name. Then came some names such as Krishnan, Raman etc and only after that Dulquer Salmaan is selected to play the character.

He said that it was indeed a challenging character for an actor like Dulquer. The film has more reaction and counter action than pure action. Giving reaction is the most challenging aspect of acting. According to him, Dulquer Salmaan is a hardworking and disciplined actor. He is ready to learn from mistakes and tried hard to correct it.

Balachandran believes that Dulquar had done justice to the character named Krishnan in this movie. Actors like Vinayakan, Vinay Fort, Shine Tom Chacko etc also playing important roles in it and P Balachandran himself playing a character in this movie written by him.
