Theri First Day Collection Report-Tamil Nadu

Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay had done it again as his latest film Theri had opened big at box office. The film helmed by Atlee had released yesterday all over the world had got positive reviews mostly. The fans of Vijay and film lovers had accepted the film with both hands and from Kerala it had got around 2.40 crores from first day. It was the third best first day collection in Kerala by any movie released here.

In Tamil Nadu also the film had made an earth shattering opening. From Tamil Nadu the film had earned 13.1 crore from first day and now it is the second biggest first day grossing film in Tamil Nadu. Ajith’s Vedalam remain at the first position with 15 crore+ gross.

Anyway Vijay had his record better with Theri as his last biggest opener was Kaththi which had made above 12 crore+ from Tamil Nadu on its first day. Theri had released in 425 screens in Chennai and had 270 shows in Chennai alone on its first day.

From Chennai alone, this film had raked in more than 1 crore rupees. Ajith’s Vedalam had 520 screens in Tamil Nadu and Theri got almost 100 screens less. That might have made the difference. Otherwise the first day record of Vedhalam might have been in great danger for sure.

Theri First Day Collection Report – Kerala

The Kollywood film Theri starred by Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay had released yesterday and opened to positive reviews from all around. This Atlee directorial film had got a grand welcome from all releasing centers and had got great applause from fans of Vijay. The box office collection also shows the fabulous reception got by this film on its first day here in Kerala.

As per official reports, the film had grossed over 2.4 crore on its first ay from Kerala alone and with this figure, another Vijay film made it to the list of top first day grossing films in Kerala. The record was set by I last year by grossing over 3.10 cr. The second one in the list is Jilla starred by Mohanlal and Vijay.

Now Theri grabs the third sport in the list by grossing 2.40 crore plus. Dulquer Salmaan starrer Kali with 2.33 crore, Vijay’s Kaththi with 2.24 crore, Mohanlal’s Loham with 2.19 crore, Mohanlal’s casanova with 2.10 crore and Dulquer Salmaan’s Charlie with 2.06 crore are the other films which had got more than 2 crore in its opening day here in Kerala. While Mohanlal and Dulquer are the only actors who done it so far, Vijay had done it three times here.

As per reports the shows today also getting great response and Theri is on its way to become a blockbuster success here in Kerala. Friday Film House had distributed the film here in association with Carnival motion pictures.

Vineeth Sreenivasan directorial and Nivin Pauly starred latest release Jacobinte Swargarajyam had released on April 8 and got great reviews from the common mass as well as the film critics. The film is said to be the best film released in this summer and also the best from Vineeth Sreenivasan till now in his career as a director.

Now, the film is making merry at box office as well. It is getting a great run at Ernakulam Multiplexes specially and had created a new collection record there. It had broken the record created by Dulquer Salmaan-Martin Prakatt film Charlie which released last year.

As per the latest collection report that came from Ernakulam Multiplexes, Jacobinte Swargarajyam had grossed 85.77 lakhs in 7 days from there and broken Charlie record. Charlie had grossed 85.53 lakhs from 7 days from there. The 7th day collection of Jacobinte Swargarajyam from there is 12.60 lakhs, which means the percentage of occupancy there is 98%.

This will be Nivin Pauly’s second success of this year as his Action Hero Biju which released in February also become a success and this young star is continuing his success streak which he had begun in 2014. Vineeth Sreenivasan-Nivin Pauly pair is maintained their 100% success record as well with this one.

The state award controversy still continues with more and more people from film industry coming in to it directly and indirectly. Yesterday we reported about Jury Chairman Mohan’s words about Premam and its making and the reply given by Alphonse Puthren, who had written, directed and edited Premam. Mohan had said that Premam is a lazy work and it seems a careless work from the director who does not even follows the structure of cinema grammar.

Alphonse Puthren gave a reply to that as he said that he do not like to play safe and makes film for making people happy. He does not care for the so called structure of cinema till the time people are enjoying what he makes. He does it for the love and passion for cinema and also for hope and freedom. He also told that he don’t want any awards from award committee if this so called structure is their criteria for deciding awards. Now B Unni Krishnan, the writer/director came out and supported Alphonse Puthren.

B Unnikrishnan said in his Facebook post that he saw Premam yesterday also in mini screen and enjoyed it a lot. He said that he did not want to take any sides in this issue and never ever want do it as well. But when he read the comment by Mohan and the reply by Alphonse Puthren to it, he just wanted to give his humble opinion on that. Unnikrishnan said that he was really surprised to see such a comment from Mohan about Premam. Unni Krishnan said that awards is only based on the convictions of a group of people called jury and the value of it is limited to that level. He does not understand how an experienced film maker like Mohan said Premam had no structure, focus and also a carelessly made flick etc.

He said if this is a careless effort and then Alphonse Puthren should do films with more careless attitude and he had to do films more lazily than this one. He also said in a funny manner which resembles the lyric of one of the songs in Premam that we don’t need these kind of awards as the situation here is not at all good.

Fan Review

The much awaited Bollywood flick Fan, directed by Maneesh Sharma and starred by Shahrukh Khan is released today. The film arrived among a lot of expectations as Shahrukh Khan’s last two films Dilwale and Happy New Year were not raised to the level of expectations. Happy New Year had become a box office success nevertheless, but Dilwale was a disaster at box office as well. So this Maneesh Sharma directorial thriller in which Shahrukh Khan played dual role created lot of hype as fans believed that this one will make the grand return of the King Khan to the success track.

The plot of the flick reveals around Gaurav Chandna who is a big fan of super star Aryan Khanna. His dream is to meet Aryan Khanna personally and spent 5 minutes with him taking some photographs and just give a hug to him. He is known by the name of Junior Aryan Khanna in his colony as he walks, talks and does everything in the style of Aryan Khanna. Even his face has great resemblance to Aryan Khanna. One day Gaurav went to Mumbai to meet Aryan on his birthday and there some unexpected incidents happens. He even though met Aryan there, it was not a friendly meet at all. Some events happened there made Gaurav the biggest enemy of Aryan and then the film follows the path of a thriller which shows Gaurav’s revenge on Aryan and film also shows how Aryan trying to resolve this situation.

Maneesh Sharma did a decent job by making an emotional thriller. But we have to say that it is no way near his debut movie Band Baaja Baaraat, When it comes to the way he controlled the film. The narration lagged at many parts and the makeup of Gaurav was looking really weird at times. The dialogues were good but the film had lost its flow many times. The film does not have a great number of songs and mostly riding on background music. But we have to say that the background scoring was not too good as well. Andrea Guerra is the one who tuned the background score.

When it comes to performance, Shahrukh Khan had really gave his best as Gaurav and also as Aryan. It was he who shouldered the burden all alone and it was only for him that people sit throughout the movie. There film can be a good one if they went for a more realistic way of narrating the story. They tried to give heroism to Gaurav in the second half and when Gaurav does heroic things, Aryan naturally became like a super hero kind of character, specially, in the scenes when he chased down Gaurav at London. That felt a little awkward as they are showing the real life of a super star, but he does things as he is doing it in reel life. Manu Anand’s DOP was good and really created the atmosphere that needed to tell this story.

On the whole, Fan is a onetime watchable flick. It will not disappoint you if you are a Fan of Shahrukh Khan. The high expectation can lessen your enjoyment when it comes to this film. So go without much expectations, it will not disappoint you.

Two Countries, directed by Shafi and written by Rafi was indeed a milestone in Dileep’s career and it was a turning point as well. Because it had released when Dileep was going through a bad patch as a star here in Mollywood and the film released in last year Christmas season had really helped him to be back on the track of big successes for which he is known for and that is why he is been called the popular actor. The film had completed 100 days and now completed its run here in Kerala. So it’s time to check its final collection report from Kerala.

The film had grossed around 37 crore rupees from Kerala alone and it had become the 4th highest grosser in Malayalam cinema history from Kerala. The first one in the list is Mohanlal starrer flick Drishyam which had a Kerala gross around 44 crore. Then comes Prithviraj starrer film Ennu Ninte Moideen which has a gross around 42 crore from Kerala and then comes Premam starred by Nivin Pauly on the 3rd position. The flick had a gross around 41 crore from Kerala.

Two Countries had a worldwide gross around 55-56 crore as well and in that list too it is occupying the fourth spot after Drishyam (66 cr), Premam (65 cr) and Ennu Ninte Moideen (58 Cr). Dileep’s new film King Liar had released on April 2 and it is also going great business in box office. But it was Two Countries which had made Dileep to be back at his best in terms of his star value.

At last the much awaited Amal Neerad-Dulquer Salmaan movie is going to start its shoot and the date is confirmed. As per reports the film will begin shooting at Bharananganam, Pala, on 20th of April. Unlike, previous Amal Neerad films, this one will be a lighter movie which has prominence to romance and fun. It is a romantic movie says the director. Shibin Francis in writing the screenplay for this film, who had earlier wrote the story of Prithviraj starrer Pavada directed by Marthandan. It was a success in box office.

Apart from that another interesting thing also coming out related to this film. Fir the first time, Amal Neerad is going to work with actor Siddique in his career. Amal had worked with legends like Mohanlal and Mammootty and many young guns like Prithviraj, Fahad Fazil, Jayasurya, Dulquer Salmaan etc. But he had not got the opportunity to cast Siddique in his movie. Now, in this film Siddique will play a prominent role, says the director. He did not revealed much about the film and the characters.

Siddique had earlier acted as Dulquer Salmaan’s father in the Anwar Rasheed directorial film Usthad Hotel, which was Dulquer’s second film. Anu Immanuel who become popular through the film named Action Hero Biju is playing the female lead in this Amal Neerad-Dulquer Salmaan movie.

Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay had strike again winning gold at box office as his latest release Theri directed by Atlee released today getting great reports from all over. The film had got a grand reception from worldwide and fans are celebrating the comeback of their super star after the disaster of Puli, which he faced last year.

This film Theri, in which he plays a cop named Vijay Kumar IPS have all the elements to make his fans thrill and enjoy in the cinema halls. The film expected to break records and create new ones is surely on its way to another big success in Kollywood and in Vijay’s career. The first day collection report will come tomorrow and let’s wait for the stats to come out. Today our cinema halls are getting houseful shows with heavy returns and crowd is building in large numbers for each shows.

Atlee had included emotional elements as well which touch your heart and family audience also accepting the film with both hands. The only negative which is coming out from the reviews so far is the songs by G V Prakash Kumar, which did not raised up to the mark. But the stunt sequences and visual were superb and the comedy part also worked out very well.

Vijay’s powerpacked performance is the soul of this film. Amy Jackson, Samantha and also the Baby Nainika had played their part to perfection as well.

Malayalam film lovers are very much disappointed because this Vishu season will not have a movie from their biggest super stars Mammootty and Mohanlal . The Big M’s are staying away from this year’s Vishu season due to the delay of the post-production works of their projects. Mammootty’s Film White by Udaya Ananthan had charted for a Vishu Release but later postponed to May. This is indeed a rare Vishu season for Malayalam film lovers and it is rare because of the absence of Mohanlal and Mammootty films.

But a happy news is coming as they will be going to witness the clash of the titans at box office on this coming Eid. Mohanlal and Mammootty will fight it out at box office on this Eid as their film Pulimurugan and Kasaba is charted for an Eid release.

Mohanlal’s big budget film Pulimurugan directed by Vysakh is all set to make a record breaking release here in Mollywood as it will come in and around 230 screens in Kerala. The film scripted by Udaya Krishna is produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam and India’s number one stunt director Peter Hein is choreographed the stunts for this film which focuses on Human and as well as animal emotions. Mohanlal playing the character named Murugan in this film who is popularly known as Pulimurugan.

Mammootty film Kasaba is directed by debutant Nithin Renji Panicker and it is written by him as well. It is also a big budget film and expected to release in and around 100 screens in Kerala. The film will have Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar, Neha Saxena, Sambath etc too along with Mammootty who plays the character of a circle inspector named Rajan Zakariah.

As per reports, both films are charted on July 7 and if it happens as per charting, then it will be a big fight at box office. Both films will be releasing among great expectations and hype and it will be something very special for the audience also. We hope that both films will do well and will take Malayalam cinema to another level.
