Charlie now at the top of the first day collection record list in Malayalam cinema
At last all the hype around film had paid off for Charlie. Even though the film had opened to mixed opinions from common audience and critics, it had created the first day collection in Mollywood breaking the record set by Mohanlal-Renjith film Loham. Loham was the highest collected Malayalam film on its first day. It had collected 2.14 crore from Kerala alone on its first day. It had surpassed the record set by Mohanlal-Roshen Andrews team’s flick Casanovva which earned 2.10 crore in its first day from Kerala. But as per reports Charlie had earned rupees 2.18 + crores from theaters in Kerala and surpassed Loham first day collection record.

Charlie had released near 100 screens in Kerala and had got great opening due to the great anticipation level it raised before the release.Multiplexes contributed handsomely to this collection of Charlie as per reports. The outside Kerala release of the film was today and from January 1st it will be screened outside India as well. Prints outside India will have subtitles as well.
The film starred by Dulquer Salmaan and Parvathy is a love story told in a very different way. The highlight of the film apart from the performance of Dulquer Salmaan and Parvathy is the screenplay by Unni R and direction by Martin Prakatt. The film had generated great hype from the beginning of its shooting and looks of the characters and their costumes as well become a trend in social media as well. The trailer of the film also got great reception as it created record number of viewers in YouTube as well. In that sense it is expected that Charlie will break the existing first day collection record.
But trade pandit says it will be a short living record as Mohanlal starrer Puli Murugan is coming next year which is expected to create a new history in its opening day collections.

Dulquer Salmaan’s Charlie took a grand opening in box office !
Charlie directed by Martin Prakatt with Dulquer Salmaan in the lead had released yesterday and generated mixed reviews among the audience and critics. Even though reviews were not all positive, the film had took a grand opening at box office thanks to the big release and great anticipation level it created before the release.
As per latest reports the first day gross of the film is above 2 crore rupees. It is one of the biggest openings in Kerala box office and only Mohanlal was able to cross that 2 crore mark in Kerala box office in the first day collection records. Now Charlie too joins that 2 crore club of first day collection records.
The flick is a musical love story with Dulquer Salmaan playing Charlie and Parvathy Menon playing Tessa. But earlier the hype was created around the film just like it as a mass film. That was the main reason for the mixed and negative reviews it had got. But at the same time it helped the film to get a grand opening as well in its first day and we have to wait for the collection of the film in the coming days to say anything about its box office success. Because sustaining good collection at box office with mixed reviews is quite difficult.
Dileep film Two Countries had released today and opened to great response as well. So it can also affect the collection of Charlie. But anyway in opening day it really rocked the Kerala box office for sure.
Adi Kapyare Kootamani Review
Adi Kapyare Koottamani is one among the new releases in Mollywood in this Christmas season and it is directed by a newcomer named John Varghese. The film is the production venture Friday Film house owned by Vijay Babu and Sandra Thomas in association with Carnival motion pictures. It’s their first production in association. The film did not generated much hype to say honestly as it had no big stars or big names associated with it. The film had young talents like Dhyan Sreenivasan, Namitha Pramod, Aju Varghese, Neeraj Madhav etc and along with them Mukesh is also playing a key role in this Abhilash S Nair and Jon Varghese scripted film.
The plot of the film revolves around a boy’s hostel and the problems occurred there when a girl enters there due to some reasons. Dhyan Sreenivasan and Namitha playing the central characters in this film. The story really kicks off when Dhyan’s character Bhanu Prasad help Namitha’s character Adhista Lakshmi to enter into the men’s hostel he is living in exchange of 20000 Rs which he needs urgently. Other inmates in the hostel does not know about this. But she got stuck in there and that makes the situation complex as well as hilarious.
The flick has been a fun filled entertainer which has elements to make you sit through till the end. The screenplay is only aimed at making you laugh and it had succeeded in it as well. But we cannot say that it is a complete entertainer with all elements worked well. The atmosphere in the boys hostel has been picturized very well and youngsters can related to it very easily. The narration is simple and does not have much complexity in it.
John Varghese had done a good job as a debutant film maker and the script by him and Abhilash Nair was a decent one as well. The film rides mostly on the comic timing of the artists and the highlight was the performances of Aju Varghese and Neeraj Madhav. Aju with Two Countries and Adi Kapyare to his credit is becoming the most valuable comedy artist/supporting actor in Mollywood. His character named Bruno had really took the audience in hand with some hilarious numbers on screen. Dhyan Sreenivasan also done a neat job as the male lead even though his speed while delivering dialogue sometime caused lessening of the comic effect of the dialogues. Namitha Pramod as usual looked cute and charming and neatly done her character along with others.
Shan Rahman’s music was superb and it was really elevated the energy level of the film big time. But the visualization of that songs not really went well and it was a negative of the film. Ajay David Kachappilly’s DOP was also very good as well. In total. Adi Kapyare Koottamani is a fun filled decent entertainer which will make you relax at the cinema hall. It’s like the comedies we saw in the 1990’s which is simple and enjoyable.

Two Countries Review
The much awaited Dileep starrer flick named Two Countries reached theaters today. The film which marks the re-union of Dileep-Shafi team who had given super successes like Kalyana Raman and Merikkundoru Kunjad had given great hope for the film lovers and admirers of Dileep with its teaser and trailer that got great reception in social media circles. The film is written by Rafi of Rafi-Mecartin duo and Rafi is the elder brother of Shafi as well. It also marks the union of Dileep- Mamta Mohandas pair who had earlier gave super hit like My Boss under the direction of Jeethu Joseph. The flick had been financed by Rejaputhra Renjith under his banner of Rejaputhra Visual Media. The flick revolves mainly around two characters played by Dileep and Mamta Mohandas and their character names in the film was Ullas and Laya.

But things take a turn when he finds out that she is an alcoholic. Shafi- Dileep association as we said above had a great box office record before and when they unites the expectation is surely for another great fun ride. And the film Two countries had succeeded in providing that fun in this Christmas season.
The film has nothing new to offer but never makes you bored ir yawn inside the theater. Many comic situations in the film had generated great response from the audience and it is a film that depended heavily on the performance of its lead actors. Dileep had really done a great job and once again showed as that when it comes to comedy he is one among the best in Mollywood. The screenplay by Rafi is also good but not anyway close to his and his partner’s classic comedies that came to us years ago. But still the first half of the film was superbly hilarious. Second half went really into the story and was thoroughly enjoying as well. Even though the climax is simple, it was sweet as well.
Mamta Mohandas, Suraj Venjaranmood, Aju Varghese, Vijaya Raghavan, Mukesh, Lena etc were superb as well. Gopi Sundar’s music was just average but most of them are entertaining songs with its colorful picturing. DOP by Santhana Krishnan was also good and the visuals from Canada was very well taken. Two Countries definitely is a complete entertainer for you in this Christmas season and Dileep -Shafi team is back with a bang this time.

Jo and the Boy Review
Jo and the Boy, is the Christmas release in Mollywood which has lady super star Manju Warrier and Master Sanoop Santhosh playing the lead roles. The film has been directed by Rojin Thomas, who is one among the director duo who had given us the successful film named Philips and Monkey Pen with Master Sanoop Santhosh and Jayasurya in the lead roles. It was a film that introduced Master Sanoop Santhosh as well. This film Jo and the Boy is financed by Alice George under the banner of Goodwill Entertainments. The screenplay and story of the film also written by the director Rojin Thomas himself.
As the title indicates, the film revolves around the characters of Jo played by Manju Warrier and the boy’s character played by Master Sanoop Santhosh. Manju warrier’s character named Jo Ann Mary and Sanoop’s character named Chris develops an emotional bond between them after they both met each other. And that is the main focus of the story as well to a sense. Jo is an animator and she wants to become the best in that. It’s her dream. The story tells how she accomplishes her dream with the support of Chris.
The film had a good star cast along with Manju Warrier and Sanoop Santhosh like Lalu Alex, Sudheer Karamana, Perale Maaney, Sunil Sugatha, Rekha Menon, Kiran etc. Manju Warrier and Sanoop had really gave a sterling performance to say the least. They had become the soul of this film with their great performance which went through all emotions. They are cute, charming, attractive in their expressions as well as fabulous when it comes to emotional scenes as well. The screenplay and direction by Rojin Thomas was an ok one. Even though he never made the audience bored, the film is filled many clichés as well. The freshness was only limited to the frames, technical brilliance and performance of the actors. Rahul Subramaniam’s music was decent and it was well supported by the DOP by Neil Dcunha who really gave great frames for the film.
On the whole, Jo and the boy is a onetime watchable feel good film which may satisfy family audience and children. How youth takes this film is still a question as it had not much fresh in it with the typical storyline. Yet, the making made it a decent one which will not be a bad experience for you.

Mohanlal-Meena pair coming again through Jibu Jacob project
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and popular actress Meena once again going to grace the silver screen as pairs in the upcoming film which will be directed by Jibu Jacob who shot to fame through the blockbuster success of his debut film named Vellimoonga last year with Biju Menon in the lead. The Mohanlal project of Jibu Jacob will be scripted by M Sindhuraj who is writing the script based on the story of James Vj titled as Pranayaopanishathu. In this film Mohanlal will be seen as a Panchayat Secretary and Meena said to be playing the character of his wife.
There are reports that the character name of Mohanlal is Ulahannan in this upcoming film which will be financed by Weekend blockbusters owned by Sophia Paul who had financed the last year blockbuster named Bangalore Days along with Anwar Rasheed, which was directed by Anjali Menon and starred by Dulquer Salmaan, Nivin Pauly and Fahad Fazil. Sindhu Raj had wrote many successful films like Elsamma Enna aankutty and Pullipulikalum Aattin Kuttiyum for Lal Jose and he is one among the favorite writers of Lal Jose as well. His recent film was Kunchacko Boban-Asif Ali starrer flick named Rajamma @ Yahoo directed by Reghu Rama Varma.
Mohanlal and Meena last seen together in Jeethu Joseph directorial film named Drishyam which is now the biggest ever box office success Mollywood ever saw in its history. Mohanlal-Meena pair is always attracted the audience and they had given many memorable characters earlier as well. The pair of Sreehari and Indhu Lekha played by these two in Renjith directorial film named Chandrolsavam is a classic example of the chemistry between these two artists and the film and the characters were celebrated even now. They had also acted together in films like I V Sasi directorial film Varnapakittu and also in Shaji Kailas directorial film named Naattu Rajavu.
Roshen Andrews directorial Udayananu Tharam also give us the chance to see this pair on silver screen and now it will be this Jibu Jacob project which will start rolling next year, give us the chance to see them together on big screen.

At the the most hyped film of Mollywood this year and in Dulquer Salmaan’s career released today. The Martin Prakatt directorial film scripted by him and Unni R had opened to mixed reviews all over Kerala. The opening of the film in box office is good as most of the centers reporting houseful shows. It is natural as well because the film had come with a lots of hype and youngsters were in great anticipation as well. The look of Dulquer Salmaan, his costumes etc were trended in social media months before the release of the film and all these add up to the level of its great expectation.
But now the film is generating only mixed reviews as the great expectation level made the common audience give only an average status to the film. Many of them don’t liked it due to high expectation and many had just like it as a feel good film. Anyway critics seems to be liked the film as they are giving good reviews to the film. But they also warning the audience that burden of expectation will kill the enjoyment. But with the hype it created before the release, its unfair to say to the spectators that they can’t expect something great from the film.

The film showcases Tessa’s attempt to find our Charlie who happens to be the one who lived earlier in a lodge room in which she came to live. His paintings, unfinished story and the viewpoints of others about him made her fall in love with him and she went in search of him. He at the other hand carries on with his never ending journey slipping away from her each time when she comes close to finding him.
People expected a mass entertainer from the team but got only a feel good film. That’s what behind the mixed response which the film is getting now.
