Mollywood superstar Mohanlal and super actress Urvashi had acted together in a lot of films in their career. Many of them are evergreen and super successes as well. But now it is almost 20 years that they had acted together and as per reports this artists are going to share the screen space again after 20 years.
As per reports Urvashi is playing a key role in the bilingual film directed by Chadrashekar Yeleti. It will be one of the Telugu project Mohanlal will be doing next as he had another Telugu film lined up for him as well, which will be directed by Koratala Siva and had Junior NTR as well in the lead along with Mohanlal.
Mohanlal and Urvashi joined together in many super successful and classic films in Mollywood and most of their association end up successes. They were the hit pair of late 80’s and 90’s. They had done together, films like Soorya Gayathri, Bharatham, Kalippattam, Lal salam, Sphadikam, Yuvajanotsavam, Midhunam etc. Their last association was in 1995 and it was really an epic film in Mollywood. It was Bhadran directorial film Sphadikam, which is even now, the most followed mass entertainers of Mollywood. Mohanlal’s character Aadu Thoma and Urvashi’s character Thulasi is still fresh in the hearts of Malayalees.
In the bilingual film which is Chandrashekhar Yeleti is making, Gauthami is the heroine of Mohanlal. Nedumudi Venu and S P Balasubramaniam also playing key roles in the film. The film had begun its filming. Chandrashekhar Yeleti is a national award winner as well.
Dulquer Salmaan starrer flick named Charlie is getting ready for the release and as per the latest report, the film will hit the screens on December 18th. The flick has been directed by Martin Prakkatt and scripted by Unni R. It has been finance by Martin Prakkatt, Joju George and Shebin Bucker under the banner of Finding Cinemas and it’s their first production venture as well.
The movie took a great time to get complete and already become the most awaited film of this year. The beard look of Dulquer Salmaan also become viral in social media circles and without even a trailer or teaser the film is generating great hype. We can say that it is the career hype film of Dulquer Salmaan as well. But there are some reports came that mega Star Mammootty is playing a guest role in this film and it had made the hype of the film to raise higher as well. But the fact is that Mammootty’s participation in this film is a fake news created by fans.
From the production side of the film itself, they told Onlookers Media that all the news that coming which says about the participation of Mammootty in this film is fake and baseless. There is no such surprises in store for the audience as well. Charlie is a musical love story and it is a family entertainer as well. Other than that it is not at all a mass action thriller or something like that. The news is spreading that way as well.
These news are really affecting the film in a bad way that each of this news creates great hype around the film and the anticipation level and expectation level going higher and higher each moment. So they clarified that there nothing in the film as per these fake reports that is doing its round in Social Media.
There is a talk in the town that it may well be the biggest hit of Dulquer Salmaan and can become one of the all-time blockbusters as well. There is also an anticipation among Dulquer Salmaan fans that the film will create a new first day collection record in Mollywood breaking Mohanlal’s film Loham’s record of 2.16 crore on first day from Kerala alone.

Today was really a proud day for Mollywood as the Malayalam film named ottal had won the best film award in the IFFK which concluded today. It also got best film in Asia award ( Netpac) and FIPRESCI Award as well. The film has been financed by Mohan and directed by Jayaraj. They will share the award which has got a Prize money of 15 Lakhs for the best film award. It had also won the people’s choice film award and in total it had won 4 prestigious awards in Film Festival. The two actors in the film also won awards as well. But now another popular Malayalam cinema director had come out against the award given to Ottal.
Sanal Kumar Sasidharan who had become famous for the acclaimed film named Oralpokkam posted in his facebook profile that the best film award in IFFK was deserved by Iranian film Immortal rather than Malayalam film Ottal. He said that it just feels like an award was given to a Malayalam film just because the film festival is happening Kerala.
He also indirectly criticized Ottal by saying that it does not get international standard even if it was awarded at an international film festival. Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s film named Ozhivu Divasathe Kali has got the FIPRESCI Award for best Malayalam film as well. He had expressed his happiness on that recognition and said that he is very happy that the first award of his film is the FIPRESCI Award at the IFFK.
The 20th International Film festival of Kerala has been concluded today and in the competition category, the best film award went to Mollywood director Jayaraj’s film named Ottal which made news in last National awards as well. The Golden Crow Pheasant award was presented to the film in the concluding function of IFFK. 15 lakhs rupees is the prize money of this award. The film had also won the Silver Crow Pheasant award for the film which had got most number of votes from common audience. 2 lakhs rupees is the prize Money for the award.
In the competition section the film had also won the Netpac award for the best film in Asia. It won the FIPRESCI Award for the best film chosen by the Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique as well. Two actors in Ottal also got the awards in the film festival. Justice P Sadasivam, who is the Governor of Kerala distributed the prizes at the concluding function held at Nishagandhi auditorium, Trivandrum. The IFFK award for the life time achievement was given to Iranian director Dariyush Mehayurji. International acclaimed Jury chairman named Julian Brasan Edwardo declared the awards at the concluding function. The award for Ottal will be shared by the financer Mohan and director Jayaraj.
The Silver Crow Pheasant Award for the best director, with a prize money of 4 lakh rupees is awarded to Philippine director Jun Robleslana for his film named Shadow Behind the Moon. The award for best debutant director is given to Bangladeshi director Abushahid Imon for his film named Jalal’s story. The prize money for this award is 3 Lakh Rupees.
Anyway Ottal shined at the award function with most number of Prestigious awards and got the attention of every acclaimed film personalities and also got applause from common audience as well.
John Honai, the latest release in Mollywood and the name is very popular among all malayalees. John Honai is popular villain character in the classical comedy super hit named In Harihar Nagar, directed by Siddique-Lal team in 1990’s. The character was played by Rizabawa. In the climax of that film we have shown as the character John Honai is dead. But now a character with the same name appears once again through this film titled as John Honai. The film has been directed by TA Thoufeeq and written by Fazal. The film has the four heroes of the In Harihar Nagar film, Mukesh, Siddique, Ashokan and Jagadeesh. Ansiba Hasan played a key role in this film as well. The flick has been financed by Shiju Sudhevan, Madhu and BKS Panicker.
Even though the film has Mukesh, Jagadeesh, Siddique and Ashokan, they are not playing the characters from the film In Harihar Nagar. They are playing different characters in this flick. The story revolves around 3 men named John, Jaffer and Janardhanan. They get 3 crore rupees like a fortune quite unexpectedly and they decided to go to Dubai for a pleasure trip and spend that money there. At Dubai they had to face some serious troubles and the film tells how those problems come to them and how they resolves it. The film is almost 2 hour length and it is touted as a comedy entertainer.
Sreekumar and Kalabhavan Navas portrayed the characters of Janardhanan and Jaffer respectively and a newcomer played the character of John. Siddique comes in the film as the villain named John Honai. Mukesh comes in the film as an investigation officer named Sreenivasan. Jagadeesh comes as a bank manager in this film who had some problems with his speech. Ashokan plays the character named Johny Valookkaran as well. Mamukkoya acting in this as travel agent Gafoorkka and Malavika Menn comes in the film as a tourist guide. Kottayam Nazeer also a part of the film as the assistant of John Honai. Rizabava also acting in this film as Devanarayan.
Have to say honestly that the film disappointed to the core. There was no plot at all for the film and the so called comedy numbers and the performance of actors as well is a flop show. Music by Alex Paul gave nothing as well. The film had many artists from mini screen and the comedy number they showed us reminded us some third rate comedy shows in mini screen. There is nothing in it for the viewer. It neither make you laugh and nor make you cry. It will make you numb with the thought, that why you chose this movie to watch and wasted your valuable money.

2015 is almost over and only Christmas films are here to grace the silver screens of Kerala and Mollywood box office as well. It is the time to analyze the stars of this year and in Mollywood the competition for that title is between Nivin Pauly and Prithviraj this year. This is a year in which super stars like Mammootty and Mohanlal not shined well and youngsters like Prithviraj and Nivin Pauly shined as stars, actors etc.
The box office battle was really between Nivin Pauly and Prithviraj to say honestly. Through 4 releases of this year, Nivin Pauly films had earned almost 98 crores from Kerala Box office as a total business. On the other hand Prithviraj films in total had earned 100 crore rupees and it is from 6 releases of him this year.
Nivin Pauly had releases such as Mili, Oru Vadakkan Selfie, Premam and Ivide. His last release this year was on May 29. It was on that day that his Premam and Ivide released. Mili was a critical and commercial failure. Oru Vadakkan Selfie was the first blockbuster of this year which had done a total business above 30 crore. His Premam had become the 2nd highest grosser here after Drishyam and it had done a total business around 60 crores. Ivide was also a disaster at box office. In total, from his 4 films , there was a business around 98 crores approximately had done in Mollywood.
Prithviraj had 6 releases this year. They are Picket 43, Ivide, Double Barrel, Ennu Ninte Moideen, Amar Akbar Anthony and Anarkkali. Picket 43 was a hit and average grosser at box office which grossed around 5 crore. Ivide was a disaster as we mention above, which has Nivin Pauly as well. Double Barrel is also a disaster at box office and grossed only around 3-4 cr from box office. But Ennu Ninte Moideen had become one of the all-time blockbusters here and done a business around 50 crore. Amar Akbar Anthony also done a business around 30 crore and the last one Anarkkali also had done something around 7-8 crores as of now. In Total, his films had done almost 100 crore business approximately as well.
After Rajinikanth, if you ask, who is the biggest star in Kollywood, there may be two answers for that. Some will say it is Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay and some will say it is Thala Ajith. Both these actors had such a huge fan following and the box office collection their film earns is also a proof for that. That may be the reason why the fans of both these actors is at loggerheads in online medias.
Recently online medias and troll pages in Tamil said that they are stopping the fan fight and there will not be fights anymore between Vijay and Ajith fans specially. With that happy news, another one is also coming to the way of the fans of both these actors. Unconfirmed reports says that Director Shankar is planning a film with both these actors after he completes Enthiran 2.
Reports said that Shankar had plans to do a Vijay film after he had done with him named Nanpan, which was a great success. But now he wants to rope in Thala Ajith in it as well. Multi star films are now a trend in almost all film industries and the main reason is that when two or more big stars comes together on screen, the business possibilities of a film increases in such way that it can create real wave in Box office status. In Kollywood, only small actors does Multi star films. If this Vijay-Ajith film materializes, then it will be sure that a new multi-star trend will start in Kollywood also.
Shankar is now busy with the pre-production works of his upcoming Rajinikanth starrer flick named Enthiran 2. This one is the sequel of his blockbuster Enthiran with Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai in the lead. Vijay is now doing Their directed by Atlee and after this he will do a film with director Bharathan who had earlier directed Azhakiya Tamil Makan with Vijay. Ajith is now fresh from the success of Vedhalam
The IFFK award selection seems to have created a new controversy in Mollywood as film makers started criticizing each other from the moment Jayaraj’s Ottal had won the best film award and other 4 major awards in the International Film Festival of Kerala. In the 20 years of IFFK history, this is the first time that a Malayalam cinema gets the best film award in the Festival.
But director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan came out against that selection of award through his facebook page saying that it was undeserving and the real deserved winner was Iranian film Immortal. He said that it just feels like an award was given to a Malayalam film only because the center of film festival is at Kerala. He also indirectly said that the film Ottal lacked international standard when compared to the other films that competed in the film festival. But now popular director Dr. Biju had come out in support of Ottal and slammed the criticisms by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan.
Dr. Biju said that Ottal had got two national awards, awards in Mumbai International film festival, got Indian Panorama selection and only after that now it had got 4 prestigious awards at IFFK. He reminded the people who criticizes the award selection that it is foolishness to think that only one’s perspective about cinema and its standard is best. If one thinks Ottal is not up to international standard, it’s only his personal view but don’t try to force it on others and say that the film not at all good like an Almighty. He said that director Jayaraj’s many films were selected and screened at many popular film festivals like Berlin, Locarno, Carlo Vivari etc. One has to think before criticizing Jayaraj that whether any single film of his was ever screened at a film festival outside India or not and whether he have the eligibility to criticize a film maker like Jayaraj.
Dr. Bju says that first these criticizers have to make a mark in any corner of the map of world cinema. Then come and criticize a film and film maker who created history. He said that the jury members who decided the award dies not have a Malayali in it and still they chose a Malayalam film as the best one in the 20 year history of IFFK. It’s a proud moment and we all have to feel happy for that. Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s film Ozhivu Nerathe kali also won the award for best Malayalam film.
