It is already a popular news that Mohanlal had joined hands with Peter Hein for his latest film which is filming now titled as Puli Murugan. The film directed by Vysakh and scripted by Udaya Krishna of the Sibi-Udayan duo is already become the most anticipated movie in Mollywood right now. The film tells the story of man who is fighting with nature, specially, wild animals to earn his living by cutting and collecting wood from forests. The fight master of this action packe film is Peter Hein who is known as the most popular action director in India who had composed epic action sequences for films like Bahubali, Enthiran, Annyan, Sivaji etc.

In Malayalam Cinema, when it comes to performing in action sequence, Mohanlal is the champion even at this age. Even young stars cannot match Mohanlal’s timing, body flexibility, courage and energy while is doing stunt sequences. We had already seen many examples for that as well. But Peter Hein may have seen many super fighters all around India as he had worked with many young actors from Tamil and Telugu who can do fight sequence with great perfection. But the fact of the matter is that after seeing Mohanlal fight in Puli Murugan, Peter Hein had become a fan of Mohanlal as he was amazed and stood stunned after seeing Mohanlal’s stunt in the film.

Peter Hein told that when he composed a special action sequence, he was doubtful that whether Mohanlal can pull it off in this age of his and his physique is also not like an athlete. Even young and dynamic stars like Allu Arjun from Telugu had took more than 5 take to make that shot ok when that sequence was given to him for a film. But Mohanlal had just done it amazingly well and the shot was ok with the first take itself. Jumping above the fighters and landing in perfect balance of Mohanlal was just awesome.

Peter Hein can’t control his happiness as he ran towards Mohanlal and gave him a kiss at his cheek after a long hug. Peter Hein says that Mohanlal is simply awesome. In this film Mohanlal fights with Leopards as well and that will be the highlight of this flick.

Premam completed 200 days in Tamil Nadu !

Premam cinema is still making news and the impact it had on youngsters here is unarguably big. The film had completed its 200 days run in Sathyam Cinemas Multiplex. The film had become a big impact in Tamil Nadu as well and as per reports they dropped the plans to remake it into Tamil as well. Because popular filmmaker Selva Raghavan himself said that it will be very tough to find artists to replace Nivin Pauly and all others in Premam. He also said that only Alphons Puthran can do justice to the film and no other can do as good as he did in Premam as a director, writer and editor. Dhanush was the one who interested in remaking the film to Tamil with Vijay Sethupathy in the lead. But later he said that he did not have plans to remake it as of now.

The success of the film in Tamil Nadu had given a great market for Nivin Pauly there as well. His earlier Mollywood releases such as The Metro were dubbed and released there as he has some market there with the successes like Neram, Bangalore Days and now Premam. Not many Malayalam films had made much impact in Tamil Nadu box office.

In 1990’s Mohanlal and Mammootty films had released there with its Tamil dubbed versions and they had done good business as well. But later that trend vanished there. Recently the film that had made huge impact there was Mohanlal starrer Drishyam which ran above 100 days in Chennai as well. Premam had also had a theater run of 150+ days here in Kerala as well. It is very surprising that a Malayalam film which only ran around 150 days here in Kerala had ran above 200 days in Tamil Nadu.

Premam is now remaking to Telugu as well with Naga Chaithanya, Sruthi hasan, Anupama Parameshwaran, Disha Pattani in the lead roles. The still from the Telugu version shootinf spot is already viral in Social Media. The film is titled as Majnu in Telugu. Anyway the Premam Mania is still not over and its continuing to make new milestones for Malayalam cinema.

Charlie starring Dulquer Salmaan is all set to release all over this coming Friday and the hype around the film is increasing day by day. The flick directed by Martin Prakatt and Scripted by Unni R is said to be a musical romantic movie which has Dulquer Salmaan and Parvathy Menon playing the male and female lead. Aparnna Gopinath who made her debut with Martin Prakkat-Dulquer film ABCD is also playing a key role in this film.

The trailer released yesterday had creating records in number of views in YouTube and now the question in everyone’s mind is about one thing. The trailer shows a room which is numbered as 66 and we hears a voice only which saying “Yes”. There are many speculations about who may be that character or will it may be a surprise guest role by Mammootty or Mohanlal. And the director Martin Prakkat himself speaks about that and clarifies.

Martin Prakkat says that there will be no Mammootty or Mohanlal, or in that case Prithviraj is playing a guest role in this film. It is not a suspense thriller or not an action mass film. It is a light romantic film which has importance to music. There were rumors earlier that Charlie the title indicates a drug and the film is a suspense thriller based on Drug Cartel. But Martin Prakkat clarifies that as well. He said that Charlie is the name of the character played by Dulquer Salmaan and there is nothing like drug cartel or something associated with that.

Martin said that he is happy that people are waiting for the film eagerly but at the same time he is anxious as well because of the over expectation of the people. From the moment it had started filming, various news spreads about the film and everything ended up in raising the hype of the film. He said that Dulquer Salmaan and Parvathy had done a great job in this film and both of them had worked hard to be the characters. The time and energy they all gave for the film is priceless and he believes that all their effort will pay off once the film reaches the screens all over.

Christmas releases in trouble as A class theater owners decided to close down all screens from today !

Few days back, we saw a Facebook post by someone and it said that the real thing that kills Malayalam cinema is not Piracy but in fact it is the attitude of our theater owners and that post was specially aimed at Liberty Basheer who is the head of Exhibitors Federation in Kerala.

They are again started strike from today by closing down all screens under their federation and now the Christmas releases of this year had landed in trouble. The main films which are all set to come as Christmas releases this year are, Dulquar Salman starrer Charlie, Dileep starrer Two Countries, Manju Warrier starrer Jo and the Boy, Dhyan Sreenivasan starrer Adi Kapyare Koottamani and Unni Mukundan starrer Style etc. Now the release of them will be in jeopardy due to this theater strike that had started from today.

Already there was 3 or 4 strikes had happened in this year as the theater owners went for strike demanding action against wide release of Malayalam films. Even before Onam release as well they had declared a strike. But now the reason for strike is not wide release problem really. The latest issue is about the government decision to not to seal the ticket if the theaters were not ready to pay the money to the welfare fund in advance. The amount is calculated as 3 rupees for each ticket in a theater. The theater owners says that the advance payment is not possible at all as the case related to this welfare fund issue is still in court and it’s not right to take money from them before there is a verdict by court in this issue.

They had 330 theaters under them in 75 centers. So it is a clear cut pressure tactic using by the Exhibitors Federation just before the Christmas release. Because it will be great loss to the films if they had only multiplex screens to release and single screens under the federation still remains a great source of revenue for each and every film here.

This was Mammootty’s first release this year and was directed by Deepu Karunakaran. The film which told the life of a fire force officer bagged average reviews and performed moderately well at box office. There was a difference of opinion between the theater owners and producer of the film about is success. Theater owners said that the film is a loss for them but the financer says it had been a profitable venture for them. Anyway the final gross of the film is around 7 crore rupees as per trustable sources.

This Siddique directorial film had given Mammootty, a blockbuster after 5 years. The film released in summer vacation had become a mass hit by collecting around 17 crore rupees in total. This is the one that really saved the year for Mammootty, as it was accepted by the audience as well as the critics with both the hands.
