Will Dulquer’s Charlie surpass Mohanlal’s Loham first day collection record ?

Dulquer Salmaan starrer flick Charlie is all set to release on the 11th of December this year. The flick is directed by Martin Prakkat and it is his second association with Dulquer Salmaan after the success of ABCD which released few years back. Unni R written the screenplay and dialogues of the film in association with director Martin Prakkat. The film has been generating great hype in social media platforms. There are two reasons for that.

First is that it will be the first Malayalam release of Dulquer Salmaan after the film 100 days of Love which released in this year March and did not do well at box office. So naturally Charlie has become a much awaited one for Dulquer Salmaan fans. Second reason is that the look of Dulquer Salmaan in this film has already gone viral in social media. After Mohanlal’s Loham and Puli Murugan’s first look, it is Dulquer’s Charlie look with beard which went viral among the film lovers of Kerala. But now the question in everyone’s mind is that will Charlie create a new first day collection in Kerala Box office surpassing the existing record of Mohanlal’s Loham.

Mohanlal holds all the individual box office records of Mollywood starting from the first day collections, longest running film, maximum number of industry hit and also with the highest ever grosser of Malayalam cinema history. Mohanlal’s Drishyam is that special one. Till this year August, the highest first day grosser in Malayalam film history was Mohanlal starrer film Casanova directed by Rosshan Andrrews which earned 2.10 crore from its first day at box office from Kerala alone. In this year August Mohanlal starrer film Loham directed by Ranjith surpassed that record and has set a new one which is around 2.19 crore from Kerala alone.

Charlie is said to be releasing in a huge number of theaters here and may have the chance to surpass Mohanlal’s Loham if the hype which is surrounding the movie now in social media will materialize into first day collections on December 11th. Let’s wait for the day to find out whether Dulquer Salmaan has the luck to rewrite a record set by Mohanlal or not.

Kanal Collection Report – Around 4.5 crore in 14 days !

Mohanlal starrer film Kanal directed by M Padmakumar which got a mixed opinion among viewers managed around 4.5 crore rupees box office collection in the 14 days of its run in theaters from Kerala. Outside collection is not estimated till now. The previous association of Mohanlal- Padmakumar- Suresh Babu team yielded a mega success at box office in 2010 with the film named Shikkar. So, people expected such a mass film from this team again and Kanal was not like that at all.

Kanal was a slow paced class thriller which is a new kind of experimental film in Mollywood. Mohanlal, Anoop Menon and Atul Kulkarni delivered great performance in the film and it is still running with below average collections. Film will end as a flop as the collection report suggests and Mohanlal’s next release will only be in next year Vishu season as he is doing big projects.

This year was a mixed bag for Mohanlal as he had success and failures. He had begun this year with a success named Ennum Eppozhum by Sathyan Anthikkad which collected over 10 crore and ended up as super hit by showing more than 8000 shows. Then came Laila O Laila by Joshiey which was a flop as it had collected only around 6 crores. Then came Renjith directorial Loham and it had created a record opening in its first day. It also ended up as a Super hit by collecting around 13 crore rupees and showing above 8500 shows in Kerala alone.

Out of the four films which released with him playing the lead role, he had two super hits and two flops. Almost 24 crores were spend for his films this year in mollywood and it had yielded more than 36 crores in the box office. In that sense he sustains his star value and still remain as the most valuable star in Malayalam cinema. But lack of class films now-a-days making his enormous talent to sleep in him rather than coming out as well.

Arnold Schwarzenegger wants change in script to act in Enthiran 2 !

Director Shankar has been in a dilemma now according to the latest updates coming from sources close to him and the upcoming film of him named Enthiran 2. The reason for his dilemma is none other than the Hollywood super star Arnold Schwarzenegger who was roped in to play the main villain role in the film opposite Super star Rajinikanth who will play the title role in the film.

As per earlier reports Arnold had agreed to do the film as well. When he came for the audio release of Shankar’s film ‘I’ he had expressed his wish act in Tamil cinema and that is why Shankar approached this man with a powerful role opposite Rajinikanth. Shankar had finalized Arnold to the role after considering many other Indian super actors like Aamir Khan, Kamal Haasan, Vikram, Hrithik Roshan etc. But now the report coming in which says that Arnold had demanded a change in screenplay of the film to act in this project.

When Shankar met Arnold with the script of the film, Arnold found it not up to Hollywood standards. So he asked Shankar to rewrite the script or change it under the supervision of popular Hollywood script writers. He said that he will act in the film only if the script is changed and made it to up to the Hollywood standard. It was earlier a big news that when Arnold demanded 100 crore rupees to act in the film for only 25 days.

Anyway what Shankar planning to do after this set back is not at all clear as of now. There are some rumors started to do its round in online medias that Shankar is already started searching for a replacement for Arnold as it will took quite a lot of time to change the script according to the wish of Arnold and then start the shoot. But no official words has been come out till now about all this news.

The Pooja function of the film said to be fixed on the 12th of December this year as it will be the birthday of super star Rajinikanth.

A rumor is spreading now in social media that Premam fame actress Sai Pallavi is all set to do the title character of Ranjith directorial film named Leela, which is based on the short story written by Unni R in the same name. Unni R is writing the screenplay of this film as well. Reports came earlier that Biju Menon will play the male lead in the film as he is chosen by Ranjith and Unni R to play the character of Kuttiyappan. Biju Menon’s participation in the film looks like a confirmed one as there is no denial came from the writer, director or from Biju Menon about this news.

If the news coming out is true and if it is happened as per reports, then it will be one of the great news for the film lovers of South India and specially to the fans of Ulaga Nayakan Kamal Haasan. As per reports after the magnum opus film Enthiran 2 with Rajinikanth and Arnold Schwarzenegger, director Shankar is planning a film with none other than Kamal Haasan in the lead and reports says that it will be the second part of the trendsetter film Indian. The film Indian in which Kamal Haasan acted in dual role was a trendsetter all over India and Shankar had directed that film.

Indian was released in the year 1996 and considered one of the best films of Kamal Haasan in his career and one of the best in Shankar’s whole career too. That film is financed by AM Ratnam and it is he who told to the media that they are planning Indian 2 and it might happen after Shankar completes Enthiran 2. AM Ratnam is the financer of Thala Ajith’s upcoming Deewali release named Vedalam.

He said that the talks are going on and yielded positive response till now. AM Ratnam revealed that Kamal Haasan wished for the sequel of the film Indian even at the time he was shooting for the film named Hey Ram. But at that time he did not get good scripts to make the second part of the film. The producer said that he and director Shankar discussed about the possibility of Indian 2 recently as well and if things will fall in to places according to their plans, then it Indian 2 will be the film Shankar going to direct after the release of Enthiran 2.

If it happened it will be a unique thing in Shankar’s career as well because he will directing the sequels of two of his most popular films back to back and that too with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. Earlier there were reports that Shankar had approached Kamal Haasan to play the villain role in Enthiran but Kamal did not do it as he not want to play negative role.

Blessy said that what made him to choose Aadu Jeevitham was not the survival factor but the theme in which human beings and nature seems blend together quite well. Prithviraj also said that as the film needs a lot of time to complete he have to make his physique in shape for that film and he can’t o other films in this period. He said he wants to observe Najeeb as well to study the character completely.
