Thala Ajith starrer film directed by Siva, title Vedalam had took a great opening here at Kerala when compared to the big Tamil releases like Mass, Puli, 10 Enradhukulla etc which released in Kerala this year. Only Shankar-Vikram team’s ‘I’ had taken a fabulous opening here among the Tamil films released this year. It had grossed around 3 crore in its first day here. As per the trade analysts, Vedhalam had took an opening figure of 1 crore+ on its first day in Kerala. But the film had received mixed reports from the viewers and shoed a great drop today in all the main centers. Now it is almost confirm that Vedhalam too will eat dust in Kerala box office this year just like Puli and Mass.
But in Tamilnadu the situation seems to be different for Vedalam as there the film had already taken a record first day collection. It had broken one record hold by Vijay-Murugados team’s Kaththi till now. As per reports Vedalam had collected rupees 14 lakhs from one single theater from a single day. The theater from which the film collected this much from a single day is the popular Ram Muthu Ram Theater in Tamilnadu. Kaththi had collected rupees 13.5 lakhs from this same theater as well last year.
The Deewali Holidays had done good for the opening of the film as it had raked in almost 17 crores rupees from the Pre-release itself as per sources. But its real box office stats will depend on the collection in the coming days. Trade guides have to analyze its collection level in the working days as well in order to make a verdict on the box office status of the film. Normally films that do well on working days as well just like a holiday or an opening day will end up as successes. But films which shows considerable drop in working days or after the opening day usually end up as failures in box office.
Ajith-Siva team’s previous film Veeram was a success and they want to continue their success saga with Vedhalam as well.
