Sreenivasan who is popular among Malayalees as a prolific and successful actor, writer and director is always noted for his social criticisms in a witty manner. He had always responded to the things happening in our society and he has also done a lot of social criticism through his films. Malayalees still remember every satirical criticism he had made about our political parties and politicians through his films.

We have to say one film specially and it was Sandhesham written by him and directed by Sathyan Anthikkad. It was considered as the best political satire ever made in Mollywood. We still remember all the dialogues from that film and we still use it in every political situation to criticize it and bring out the follies of our system. Nowadays Sreenivasan is actively responding to each and every social problem and political scenarios in our state personally than through his films. Recently in an interview with Manorama channel he said that popular Police officer Rishiraj Singh should be appointed as Kerala’s next Chief Minister.

Rishiraj Singh is known for his firebrand attitude in his official life and he is always ready to go all out against corruption. When he was the head of traffic department in Kerala his revolutionary ideas brought about a great change in our traffic system. And in each and every department he was posted to serve he had made his mark. He is always on a mission to clean up the corruption in our system and never fears about political pressure and succumbs to any type of influences. Sreenivasan says that lots of youngsters is our state is following this great man and if he will be the next Chief Minister of Kerala, each and every youngster in our state will be with him for implementing each and every movement he begins to clean up our system.

He said that nowadays the politicians in our country has made politics just like a mud lane and that people like Rishiraj Singh is necessary to bring back young force to politics. Sreenivasan also said that if Rishi Raj singh becomes the Chief Minister of Kerala, he will have to control the home department as well to execute his visions.

Chemban Vinod in title role in Prithviraj’s Darvinte Parinamam

Prithiviraj starrer film named Darvinte Parinamam had started filming in Kochi from October 1st. The flick is directing by Jiju Antony who had earlier got good critical appreciation through is film named Konthayum Poonoolum starred by Kunchacko Boban. But the interesting thing about this film is that actor Chemban Vinod is playing the title character Darwin in this film. He and Prithvi Raj playing the male leads in this flick. Prithviraj playing the character named Anil Anto in this film and Chemban Vinod is playing the character named Darvin as we said above.

Anil Anto is a youngster who is a native of Kottarakkara. He is a married man and very much attached to his family as well. But some problems in his family made him to leave his native place Kottarakkara and he comes to Kochi in search of a Job. He started working as a Dish TV operator in Kochi. There he met a character named Darvin played by Chemban Vinod. Darvin is a very rich man and he says Kochi city is fully under his control. If you ask him what is his job then he will say he is a smuggler. He is a sort of powerful person and once Anil had an issue with Darwin and then the film kicks starts with some interesting events that happening both Anil’s and Darwin’s life. The flick will be an out and out entertainer which has nothing to do with the great Darwin who formulated the theory of evolution.

The film will have lot of real life situation we encounter in our life and will have many real life characters we meet in our daily life. As per reports the film will have all the elements for Prithviraj and Chemabn Vinod to have a blast on screen. Other major actors in this film is Saiju Kuruppu and Mamuukoya and there will be many humor actors as well acting in this film.

Screenplay of this film is written by Manoj Narayanan in association with director Jijo Antony and music will be by Shankar. Abhinandan Ramanujan will crank the camera and August films is financing the flick.

Dulquer Salmaan playing the lead in Pratap Pothen’s directorial

The new talk of Mollywood is Pratap Pothen directing a film with Dulquer Salmaan in the lead. And this wonderful news is shared by Pratap Pothen himself in his official Facebook account today. In the long detailed post, Pratap Pothen conveys about his days and dreams he has to fulfill in his future. Along with this post, he also posted a photo with Dulquer Salmaan. In the post he also confirms that the project will have talented people joining hands in various sections like Anjali Menon, Rajeev Menon etc. Anjali Menon will be writing the script for the film and Rajeev Menon will do the Cinematography. Pratap Pothen also confirms that the movie will be produced by Global United Media.

In the post Pratap Pothen shares his 80’s where he saw Mammootty, who was then an upcoming actor and following the post he also confirms that he knew that Mammootty will be going places etc and that’s what exactly happened. He also shares his experience as a director. Towards the end he also says that after his directorial venture with Dulquer Salmaan he is planning to do a bio-pic with Mammootty which will fulfill his dream. In this Facebook post he also confirms that he selected Dulquer for the role not because of Mammootty but because of Dulquer’s performance in Usthad Hotel and Ok Kanmani. And he ends the post by thanking everyone who is joining him in this venture.

As a director, Pratap Pothen has directed Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu films starting with the Tamil movie Meendum Oru Kaathal Kathai. He did three Malayalam movies which were Hruthubhetham, Daisy and Yathramozhi. These movies were great movies which saw performances of artists like Thilakan, Kamal Haasan, Shivaji Ganesan and Mohanlal respectively. After a long break now Pratap is back into his director role, hope this movie would bring out some splendid piece of art that people like Anjali Menon, Rajiv Menon and Dulquer is joining Pratap Pothen to make it look outstanding on the silver screen.

Prathap Pothen’s previous directorial venture was in 1995, Yathramozhi. Mohanlal Sreenivasan combo to return through Priyadarshan film

If reports are to be believed we can see the most celebrated actor pair in Malayalam cinema history once again on silver screen next year. Yes we are talking about the magical combination of the complete actor Mohanlal and Sreenivasan. As per the latest reports Mohanlal will do two films directed by Priyadarshan in the coming one and half year and the first one in that will begin filming this November itself. And that film will have Sreenivasan in key role as well along with Mohanlal. The film will have many prominent actors from our industry and as per reports Mukesh will be also a part of the film which will be a comedy thriller financed by Ashirvad Cinemas.

If this happens we can once again see two of the most successful actor combinations in Mollywood history. One is Mohanlal-Sreenivasan and another one is Mohanlal and Mukesh. But the prominence is here on the Mohanlal- Sreenivasan rejoining because it is happening after years and there was some problems between them too in recent years. Puli Collection Report – 30.5 cr in 3 days

Chimbu Deven directorial starring Ilayathalapathy Vijay titled Puli was released on last Thursday and unfortunately got negative word of mouth from all over. The flick had come with lots of hype and expectation but failed to rise up to the task of satisfying the viewers. The pre-release issue around the film also affected it in a financial way as they had to cancel all fans shows and special shows on the day of its release as well. Even after all this issues the film had showed the power of Vijay at box office in its first 3 days.

As per unofficial reports from trade guides of South India, the film had collected above 30.5 crore in just 3 days from India alone. The total worldwide collection is not available right now but it will be updated soon as we get it. After the first day which generated negative word of mouth the film showed a drop in collection. But the second day collection was fairly good as well because of the National Holiday due to Gandhi Jayanti. But third day again showed another drop. From its 3rd day (Saturday) it had grossed around 10.20 crore from India.

The flick has been doing great in Tamilnadu box office even after the negative word of mouth and that is the reason behind its strong gross even after it experienced a considerable drop all over India. The flick has been doing great in overseas market too with the great welcome it had got in markets like US, France, UK and Malaysia positively affecting the gross. As per trade guides the 2 day gross of the film from overseas market may be around 10 crore and the total gross from outside India will be updated on Monday after adding the weekend collection of the film.

In North India where the film is released in Hindi as of now has grossed around 2 crore and Akshay Kumar’s Singh is Bling is ruling the North India like a boss. Bahubali had collected rupees 37 crore from India in 3 days and Puli got left behind by a fair margin. Now we have to see how the flick will perform in the box office after the weekend even with the not so positive response it received from the audience.

Padmakumar directorial and Suresh Babu scripted film Kanal is all set to release on October 21 or may be on 22 and it is their second association with Mohanlal after the super success they got through the 2010 film named Shikkar. It was a revenge thriller which offered Mohanlal a mass as well as a class character to perform. When it comes to Kanal, reports suggesting that this will be another class act from Mohanlal and the writer-director team had really given a class character for Mohanlal to perform at the same time will have elements to thrill the audience. Kanal also seems to be a revenge thriller kind of films as per the reports. Apart from these factors, another factor which attracts the attention of the audience to this film is the Mohanlal-Anoop Menon pair.

Whenever these two actor come together on screen we got some class films. They came together first time in a film long years back. It was a film scripted by Anoop Menon and directed by Rajeev Nath titled as Pakal Nakshatrangal. The film had won great critical appreciation for Mohanlal as his performance in the film was astonishing. Anoop Menon also played a fairly good role in the film as the son of Anupam Kher. Then Mohanlal and Anoop Menon acted together in B Unnikrishnan directorial box office hit film Grandmaster and in that too Mohanlal got critical appreciation for his acting skills.

Now Kanal is coming, this time both has almost equal screen space and as per sources both are playing one of the best characters they played recently in their career. Anoop Menon openly said that he is very much influenced by Mohanlal in his acting side. So it will be interesting to watch his performance with Mohanlal from whom he got influenced.

Parvathy Menon is the newsmaker in Mollywood recently with her epic performance as Kanchanamala in the recent blockbuster in Mollywood titled Ennu Ninte Moideen. She had already made a lot of followers here with her performance as Sarah last year in the film named Bangalore days which was a blockbuster. In Tamil also she got a great character in Dhanush starrer film Maryan and her character had won critical appreciation and many awards to her.

But recently some online medias published a news that said that she is all set to quit from her acting career and not taking up films anymore. But that was all fake as she in an interview to Manorama Online said that she is not quitting from her acting career and the news that was spreading is wrong. She says that this kind of fake news spreading is really painful. Parvathy said that she did not give any statements like that to any medias. Then why the hell should they publish such news and why other following it up even without confirming it with her.

She said that media who works with professional ethics should have to check the authenticity of the news before they publish it. Because the news is about a living person and it can affect that person badly. That kind of journalism is without any ethics and irresponsible too. Parvathy said that when she first saw it in an online page she ignored it. But even reputed online media took up that news and spread it without even checking the authenticity of it with her. They all can contact her and check whether it is true or not. But they never did it and these kind of activities will result in the situation that people will never trust media again. S

he said that she had completed 10 years in cinema and doing her job very quietly as well. Then why these fake news makers targeting her. Parvathy says that cinema is an art and she is an artist who belongs to that art. If she chose to go away from it then it will be her who tell it to the viewers not any media. Oralpokkam Review

Oralpokkam, the film that became well known to everyone when it had won state recognition this year. The film was directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan. He is the one who had written the story and screenplay of this award winning film as well. The movie has been financed through the online crowd funding program and it is the first of that kind in Malayalam cinema history. Sanal Kumar Sasidharan had won the best director award for his efforts behind this film. This is his debut feature film as a director as well.

The film did not have much length and it is only 1 and half hour of length. But tells something which has relevance and ideas which make the audience think about it even after watching the film. The storyline of the film is such that Mahesh and Maya are two people who are in living together relationship. They chose to be with one another because they both think that they were very progressive in their thinking and they share similar thoughts and ideas. But later their relationship began to follow the usual pattern but at that point Mahesh separates from Maya. She leaves him not letting him know about to where she was going.

The film then shows his search for her and his journey for searching her. The people comes into his life while he is on his way to find her. Their dreams etc makes the story move forward. He reaches a flood affected area of Himalayan mountain valley on his way as well and the plot revolves around that backdrop.

Mahesh’s inner conflicts as well as many relevant subjects such as impacts of human’s mountain invasion are discussed in this film. It also showed us the pattern in human behavior with the help of the backdrop of the calamity. The director had narrated the story in a realistic manner and the emotional conflicts in the film is told impressively. The cinematography of the film is also very good. Prakash Bare’s performance as Mahesh was superb and the conflicts faced by the character is portrayed really well by him. Meena Kandasamy also done her part neatly.

Oralpokkam is a realistic yet uncomplicated narrative of the human emotions, his mental conflicts. It has so many ideas which makes us think about it and explore it. It is a worth watch for you if you want to see films that make you think rather make you laugh and thrill.

Sidharth Bharathan to do a Mohanlal film next

Actor/director Sidharth Bharathan who was in hospital for few days following a serious injury after he had met with a car accident some weeks back. He was critical in his health condition at first and by God’s grace and prayers from his well-wishers he had recovered well and came back to his normal life. Sidharth had left the hospital last day with his mother, the popular actress KPAC Lalitha.

He was in Medical Trust hospital in Ernakulam. Sidharth Bharathan had undergone a surgery in his leg which had multiple fractures following the accident and now undergoing physiotherapy as well to get back his normal movements. Doctors had advised him 3 months rest before he starts working again. And the latest news about him says that Sidharth Bharathan is all set to do a Mohanlal film next and he is taking this 3 month rest period to script something very special for Mohanlal.

Sources close to them revealed to media that before the accident he was planning a film aiming to rope in Mohanlal as the male lead and they had discussed many ideas to bring him in. They also fixed a meeting with the legend to discuss a screenplay with him as well. But then the unfortunate car accident happened and then they were not able to follow up the idea. But now as doctors advised him 3 months of rest, he wants to use that time to make the idea into a perfect script and then meet Mohanlal with a full script.

Now he has only the problem of walking properly and that will be perfectly alright in another 6 weeks and in the meantime he and his team is all set to perfect their ideas keeping in mind the aim to rope in Mohanlal. If that happens then it will be a very interesting combination in Malayalam cinema. Because Mohanlal had acted in Sidharth’s father Bharathan’s films early in his career and now it seems that the son is all set to direct the legend. That will be very unique in Mollywood as it happens very rarely in our industry.
