Loham to screen in Malaysia too

Loham starring Mohanlal directed by Ranjith is making tremendous business in Kerala as well as in other places like Gulf countries and European countries where it has released. In Kerala the film already booked a mega hit status from the tremendous box office response it had got and as of now the film had earned more than 10 crore rupees from just 12 days of its theatrical run from the state. It has also completed above 5000 shows as well in Kerala.

A film which got only above average review from the common audience as well as from the critics is making this great business due to two main reasons. One is the Mohanlal factor whose star value can turn any average film to a super success in Kerala. Second is the fact that other than Kunji Ramayanam all other Onam releases got bad opinion and failed to click in box office.

Now the success Loham has got prompted Distributors from various parts of the world to release the film at their places as well. As per the latest information Loham will release in Malaysia this weekend and will have two shows on Saturday and Sundays there at Malaysia. The film screen in the Federal Theater at Jalan Raja Laut. The show will be on Saturdays and Sundays at 2.45 pm and 6 pm.

Usually only mollywood films which gets big success got release in Malaysia and after Drishyam now it’s the time of Loham to have a Malaysian release from Mollywood and Mohanlal does it again by taking Malayalam films to all around the world. Mohanlal’s drishyam had not only becomes the biggest hit in Kerala alone but also at many other places it had released when it comes to the status of other Mollywood films.

Drishyam is the biggest hit in American release centers and UK centers when it comes to the release of Mollywood films. It had also become the highest grosser and runner at Gulf countries as well as Australian releasing centers as well. In All India level as well it is the record holder for Mollywood films and now Loham is following it even though it will not be a record breaker or so because of its only above average response.

Manju Warrier to play 20 year old girl !

It has been from the beginning of the film era actors and actresses strive to cop as ideal as the role demands. We have seen people reducing weight, cutting hair etc to become apt for the role. The latest on this list is Mollywoods own actress Manju Warrier who is reportedly to reduce her weight for her latest movie Jo and  the Boy. As the reports says, Manju is about to portray the role of a 20 year old girl in the movie. Stunned??

Of course we should be. Because a versatile actress like Manju Warrier to do a twenty year old girl at her thirties is not something ordinary. If it comes out in light, it would be something spectacular. For instance we have seen forty year old Aamir Khan as a 20 year old boy in Rajkumar Hirani’s all time blockbuster 3 Idiots.

Jo and the boy is a movie from the team of 2013’s surprise hit Philiphs and the Monkeypen with Master Sanoop in the lead. The movie was directed by the duo of Shanil Muhammed and Rojin Thomas. The movie grabbed both critical acclamation and commercial success. It also won three state awards of that year. They were awarded in the categories like Best Children’s Film, Best Children’s Film Director and Best Child Artist.  This motion picture from the same team, but will be directed by Rojin Thomas alone. The movie has already started shooting months before and now is joining Manju Warrier to the league.

For Jo and the boy Manju is about to reduce 10 kilo, which is not an easy task. As an actress unparalleled Manju will be able to deliver her role in full efficiency we hope. Even for Manju, this second innings is so important and hence is very selective. Manju after a long break returned to Mollywood with a dashing hit How Old Are You and again delivered a hit with Mohanlal and Sathyan Anthikad in Ennum Eppozhum. Her third movie about to release with Rima Kallingal named Rani Padmini directed by Aashiq Abu. As of now, more news about this is yet not out to the desk.Wait for more.

Director Ram Gopal Varma who is very popular in India with some of his classic films as well as due to the fair bit of controversies in which he has been involved in over these years has been fined by the Delhi High Court for destroying the evergreen classic of Indian Cinema Sholay. Ram Gopal Varma had remade the classic film Sholay with the title Aag few years back with a star cast of Amitab Bachchan, Mohanlal and Ajay Devgun.

Ram Gopal Varma had tried to tell the story in a different perspective based on Sholay and the highlights of the film was two things. One is that Amitab Bachchan and Mohanlal, the actors who were considered among the greatest actors in India, acted together for the first time in their long career and the second thing is that Amitab Bachchan who was the hero of the original version of Sholay Released in 1975 played the villain in this new version named Aag. Mohanlal had played the central character played by the great Sanjeev Kumar in the original version.

The flick was a failure at box office and even critics do not spare the film as well. Critics and audience were found only one positive in the whole movie and that was the stunning performance of Mohanlal as Thakkoor and popular media like CNN IBN told in its review that Mohanlal is like the boy in the burning deck when the plight of the film is concerned.

But now after all these years the film’s plight did not seem to spare Ram Gopal Varma. The son of the producer of sholay named Vijay Sippy had filed a case against Ram Gopal Varma saying that Ram gopal Varma had violated copyright issue while remade the film. He had used the background music, dialogues, character names and also twisted the original story on his own without seeking permission and at last destroyed the original version. Delhi high court considered the case and found Ram Gopal Varma guilty and fined him 10 lakhs rupees for playing with a masterpiece work and make it look ugly.

There has been a lot of news came before you about the film Baahubali from the time of its release. From the reviews to its theatrical collection, the records it had created and broken in Indian cinema and also the impact it had made and specially in the film industries in India. The film has already broke many collection records and it had entered the 600 crore club in total as well. It had almost ran 50 days as well in theater all across India. Now the director of the film himself says that the flick has almost terminated from its theatrical run and now only runs in a few theaters across India.

SS Rajamouli says through a tweet that Baahubali has almost completed it’s run and it will not be in theaters blocking the run and release of other films. He says that a film which runs in 50 or 100 days or may be 150 days is an old story now. In the latest scenario a film releases in almost 1000 screens and it will only get a run of 3 to 4 weeks and if it is a hit film it will make it’s maximum collection during that period of time. Rajamouli says Baahubali had terminated at almost all places except some main centers which even now gives it’s shares.

But now the problem is that some fans are requesting theaters to run the film again and they are even ready to spend their own money to do it. They are asking the same thing to the distributors as well. They are doing this to make the film run the so called 50 or 100 days and to create some record or something to boast off. But Rajamouli says that it’s not at all fair and it is not right to mislead or make people believe anything by creating a false record or giving some false information.

The veteran director Rajamouli said that the film had gave an evergreen yet memorable success to us and what else we want other than that. Now the film will run only in theaters which gives shares and that is only a few ones.

Philips and the Monkey Pen was one of the surprise hits of 2013 which was directed and written by the duo of Shanil Muhammed and Rojin Thomas. The film had Master Sanoop Santhosh and Jayasurya in lead roles along with Remya Nambeesan, Vijay Babu and Joy Mathew. It was financed by Vijay Babu and Sandra Thomas under their banner named Friday Film House. The film got both critical as well as commercial success and got 3 awards in the State Film Awards as well. They were awarded in the categories like Best Children’s Film, Best Children’s Film Director and Best Child Artist. Master Sanoop Santhosh with his sterling performance became the darling of the masses in Kerala and later he acted with Mohanlal and Mammootty as well in films like Peruchazhi and Bhaskar the Rascal which were also Box Office successes.

Now the latest news is that actress Manju Warrier has joined this Monkey Pen team to do their next movie titled as Jo and The Boy and the filming has already begun in several locations at Kodaikanal. But this time Rejin Thomas alone is directing the film in which Master Sanoop Santhosh playing the lead character along with Manju Warrier. Manju Warrier and Master Sanoop Santhosh plays the titular characters Jo and The Boy respectively.

Rojin Thomas himself has scripted for this film. Other than Manju Warrier and Sanoop, actors like Lalu Alex, Pearle Maaney are playing key roles in this film. It will have almost 25 days of shooting at Kodaikanal and later will have 5 days of shooting at Ladak. Manju Warrier celebrated her Onam this year with the crew of this film in the location.

Neil D’cunha is the DOP of the film and the director has said that this one will be a complete Manju Warrier film. She has acted in 3 films after her re-entry to Mollywood and the 3rd one is all set to release in this October. The other two films, How old are you with Kunchacko Boban and Ennum Eppozhum with Mohanlal were super successes at the Box Office and the 3rd one is with Rima Kallingal which is titled as Rani Padmini directed by Aashiq Abu.

Mohanlal’s Onam release film Loham helmed by none other than the master writer and director Ranjith has emerged as the Onam winner with its superb run at the Box Office. From just 8 days it had earned a profit of fifty lakhs from the theaters of Kerala alone. In Gulf countries also the flick has received great response from the audience and there also it has been running with packed houses. The mixed word of mouth it had got from its very first day seems to be nothing in front of people’s trust towards Mohanlal and Ranjith and the main factor which is holding the film in the theaters is the acceptance of the family audience.

After the reception from the youngsters in the first few days of the film, the family audience accepted it with both hands and now the flick has been doing great in the weekends and going steady in the working days. From 8 days it has grossed above 8 crores and now as per trade analysts the flick has earned an awesome amount around 9.8 crore from just 11 days. The Saturday and Sunday shows had gave it a great business at theaters with continuous houseful shows and in multiplexes it is going great still. From the multiplexes of Ernakulam alone it had grossed above 65 lakhs in just 11 days.

The flick has grossed around 1.80 crore from its 9-11 days making it a great weekend by amassing almost 60 lakhs per day. The 9.80 gross has now made its Kerala share alone to almost 4.20 crore and now the film’s profit from theaters alone from Kerala is more than 1 crore. Loham continues to be a money spinner at Box Office and will emerge as one of the biggest hits in Mollywood this year.

The film had also completed over 5000 shows in just 11 days and still has above 300 shows per day in Kerala. There will be a drop in collection for the next few days for sure as it is continuous working days and also a strike is on its way as well. But it will hold steady till the next weekend and continue its success saga at the Box Office.

Big B returns on September 6

Bilal John Kurishinkal aka Big B is one of the most stylish character ever played by Megastar Mammootty and one of the best in Mollywood as well. It will hit the silver screens once again this year on September 6th in various theaters in Kerala. It is re-releasing only for one day and only one special show will occur in the selected theaters here in the state. Megastar Mammootty is celebrating his 64th birthday and it is actually on September 7th. There is a reason why the show was planned on September 6th.

September 7th is a Monday and it is a working day as well, if the special show is planned on that day the participation from the spectators will be very less. So they decided to make it on September 6 as it is a Sunday and people can come and watch the special show. The show is primarily for the hardcore fans of Mammootty who wants to celebrate the birthday of their star.

Big B re-release special posters and stills

The show will be at the theaters like Cherthala Paradise, Kottayam Abhilash, Perumbavoor Ashirvad, Thalassery Chitravani, Palakkad Sreedevi Durga, Karunagappally Tharangam, Kasargod Sree Krishna, Kodakara City Cinemas, Perinthalmanna Vismaya, Mukkam Pee Cee and Thodupuzha Laya or Aishwarya. At these theaters special shows will be around 9.30 am in the morning even though the show time is not yet confirmed.

The film directed by Amal Neerad was released during the Vishu season of the year 2007. But at that time the film did not make it big at the box office as the Mohanlal starrer Chotta Mumbai and Dileep Starrer Vinodayathra won the Vishu battle with mega success.

Later when the film had come on the mini Screen, it gave the film its deserved recognition. Through the screenings on mini screen it had become a trendsetter among Mammootty fans. There is another reason for this special screening of Big B as well. Mohanlal starrer blockbuster Narasimham was also re-released in many centers across Kerala and even in Dubai after 15 years as a celebration of the 15 years of Narasimham as it was the Industry hit of Mollywood at that time. The re-release of the film Narasimham became a great success and that also prompted the fans of Mammookka to set up a re-release of their star’s trendy film.
