Lal Jose to pen down the script of Dulquer-Jomon T John flick
The news of cinematographer Jomon T John wearing the Director’s cap came sometime back. We also heard that young star Dulquer Salmaan will play the male lead in that upcoming flick of Jomon T John. Now the latest news coming in adding to the attraction of the film that master director Lal Jose will pen down the script for this film.
It will be Lal Jose’s second script in his long career in Mollywood. His first script was for Puram Kazhchakal (based on the short story written by renowned writer C V Sreeraman) which was one of the short films of the anthology film Kerala Cafe which was helmed by Renjith. Mega star Mammootty had played the main lead in that film scripted by Lal Jose. It is a very interesting thing to know that Lal Jose’s second script happened to be for Dulquer Salmaan, son of Mammootty. Lal Jose is not new to writing as he had written the story of the Dileep film named Meenathil Thalikettu long time back.
Lal Jose had did a film with Dulquer Salmaan and Unni Mukundan in the lead named Vikramadithyan last year which was a success as well. Jomon T John was the DOP of that film and he had also done the cinematography of Lal Jose’s latest film named Neena which is coming to hit the screens very soon. Jomon T John had become very popular cinematographer in Mollywood with his works in films like Chappa Kurishu, Thattathin Marayathu, Beautiful, ABCD, Picket 43 and his latest release is Oru Vadakkan Selfi. Chappa Kurishu was his debut film and he had done 3 films with Lal Jose which include the above mentioned Neena, Vikramadithayn and the third one is Ayalum Njanum Thammil which was his first association with Lal Jose.
Jomon T John also had done one Tamil and one Hindi film such as Brahman and Fattack respectively. The film which he is doing currently is Ennu Ninte Moideen which is directing by debutant Vimal and starring Prithviraj. Jomon T John had worked with Dulquer Salmaan in films like ABCD and Vikramadithyan respectively.
Uttama Villain Review
Uttama Villain at last hit the screens today after all sorts of controversies and confusions regarding the release of the film in last 2-3 months. From the time of the release of its first teaser people had waited for it and as always they expected a magic from the universal hero of Indian cinema Mr. Kamal Hassan. He had multiple films which was ready for release such Vishwaroopam 2 and Papanasham (trailer of the film is released the other day) along with Uttama Villain from last month. People are in the confusion that which will come first and among all these Uttama Villain seems to have more expectation as Kamal Hassan as an actor and writer is worked behind this one. The one who directed this film is Ramesh Aravind.
The story of the flick revolves around the life of an actor and the plot shows his life on screen and off the screen. His name is Manoranjan and the film shows his struggle in the private life which is the cost of his journey to stardom. Later when he come to know that he has brain tumor he wants to do a film with his mentor for the last time and from there the film travels in a way that there is a picture within a picture. The film in this film is about a person named Uthaman and the story takes place in 8th Century. Then again a twist comes as a person named Jacob Zakkariah reveals that Manoranjan had a daughter named Manonmani in his past lover named Yamini. The plot takes many twists as it ends with an unexpected climax which deserves a standing ovation.
The scenes which combines the grace of Theyyam and Villppattu is just amazing and Kamal Hassan’s unbelievably amazing performance and screen presence is the best part of this film. The part in which it shows the 8th century episode is the one which pulls down the film as it is lagging a lot and seems as a mismatch in the whole body of the flick. This was Kamal Hassan’s mentor K balachandar’s last film as well as an actor he in this film plays the mentor role of Manoranjan played by Kamal.
Jayaram plays Jacob Zakkariah and Parvathy Menon plays Mamnonmani. Andrea plays the role of doctor Aparnna and Nasser plays the character of king Mutharasan who was part of the the 8th century episode of the film. The running time of the film is 172 minutes and that is the main negative which made it a lagging affair at some parts. But apart from all the short comings it is an experience to the viewer as Kamal Hassan excels again.
Director : Ramesh Aravind
Release Date : 1/5/2015
Cast : Kamal Hassan, Jayaram, Parvathy

Bahubali poster in plagiarism trouble
S S Rajamauli is one of the best directors in South India or may be in India as a whole as he is always gives the audience something big and extravagant in terms the theme of his films and the style of making it. He can be called another version of Shankar as well as both of them gives us something beyond our imagination or makes us go towards the edge of our imagination. After the mega blockbuster hit Eega which rocked the South Indian box office and the big time player Rajamauli is coming again with another epic film named Bahubali which will have two parts. The first part of which will hit the screens this year and the first look poster of the film is out as well.
But as soon as it had released it landed into some kind of plagiarism issue as the accusation falls on it saying that the poster of the film is a copycat of an English film named Simon Birch which was released in 1998 conceived by Mark Steven Johnson. Rajamauli’s super hit film Eega released in 2012 was also landed in plagiarism issue as the accusation fell on it saying that the film was a copycat of 2 films named Cockroach and The Bee. Cockroach was an Australian flick conceived by Luke eve and it was released in 2010. It was in fact a Short film rather than a full- fledged movie and the story of Eega said to have strong resemblance with the story of the Australian flick.
Whatever may be the fact, the issue certainly had given a great publicity for the film’s first look poster and the poster is widely appreciated as well. Now we have to wait till the release of the film Bahubali to find out that if there is any resemblance of the storyline of this film with any other movies. People are waiting with anxiety and eagerness to see the epic creation of Rajamauli on the big screen as his Eega had created such an impact and influence on film lovers.
She Taxi Review
She Taxi is one of the film which hit the screens today which is in the limelight for the comeback of Kavya Madhavan after a short gap in her acting career. The film is conceived by Saji Surendran and penned down by Krishnan Poojappura who is usually the writer of all Saji Surendran film and this team had a great record as well in box office. Family audience have a trust on them as all of their works is a minimum guarantee one of the family audience with lots of fun and energy.
She taxi is a film which is a woman centric one and it tells the story of a woman taxi driver in Kerala, the role which is played by Kavya Madhavan. She is driving the taxi which she got from her father after his death and she rides it to support her family. And One day her taxi is hired by 3 ladies who wanted to go to Shimla for the work of a documentary which was about a monastery. Ansiba Hassan, Krishna Prabha and Sheelu Abraham plays the role of that 3 ladies.
On the other side 3 men played by Anoop Menon, Nobi, and Suraj who gets into some kind of financial problem happened to fled from their place with another character who is played by Tini Tom. All of the above mentioned ladies and men happened to meet at a forest region and there we understood that the ladies are on a mission to find a painting called five Tibetans and the mystery began to unfold around that painting as another comes in the search of the same painting and them arises the confusion and thrill of the She Taxi ride.
Kavya Madhavan had done a great performance as the taxi driver and it is a great comeback indeed for the talented actress. Anoop Menon was in his usual best when comes to comedy and all the supporting actors were done a great job playing there characters. Special mention have to be given to Sheelu and Ganesh Kumar who played the funny cop. Saji Surendran, the director had really made the audience to sit through the film with no lagging and the script was good enough to compliment the effort from the part of the director. This is a real fun ride in the She Taxi where you can sit and have a relaxing ride.

Chirakodinja Kinavukal Review
Chirakodinja Kinavukal is a popular phrase or title for all malayali film lovers which had become very popular with the film named Azhakiya Ravanan conceived by Kamal and the narrator of the story in that film too had become a highly popular whose name is tailor Ambujakashan, the role which was played by Sreenivasan. Even though Azahakiya Ravanan not did well at box office that time the character of Ambujakashan and his so called novel named Chirakodinja Kinavaukal had become a great hit among the audience. And when the same character returns with the same novel and title the expectation naturally go towards skywards. This flick was directed by newcomer Santhosh Viswanath and the name of the producer also add to the expectation as it was Listin Stephen who gave us lot of Good films including traffic and Ustad hotel etc.
Chirakodinja Kinavaukal has a good and interesting list of artists such as Kunchacko Boban, Sreenivasan, Joy Mathew, Rima Kallingal, Srinda, Gregory, Idavela Babu, Lalu Alex, Mamukkoya etc and all have done their part neatly. The film is a kind of spoof which ridicules the clichés in Mollywood cinemas and it may be first of its kind in mollywood. As an experiment we have to appreciate them for the risk taken by them. But the storyline is well known to everyone featuring the love affair of tailor and Sumathi and the villain of course is Sumathi’s father Viraku Vettukaran’ who decides to marry her off to a UK return new generation man. Ambujakshan gets a producer to make his novel a film and the presentation of the film is in a fresh way as well. But they had failed to blend the spoof line and the real storyline well and it ended up as an average affair.
Kunchacko Boban had done dual roles in this flick and he did the role of tailor well but not that much impressive as UK return new generation boy. Rima Kallingal and Joy Mathew were quite impressive as Sumathi and Viraku Vettukaran. Sreenivasan looks very good throughout the film as Ambujakshan but not as good as he did it in Azhakiya Ravanan. The blend of romance and humour is what they had intended but it not happened to the level as they expected it to be. It also gives us the memories of Azhakiya Ravanan here and there and that also affected this film as this one not raised up to the standard of that one from which it originated.
Chirakodinja Kinavukal is only an average affair which can only please those who can go to a film with no expectation and specially those who had completely forgotten Azhakiya Ravanan.
