A mass May is coming for Mollywood

Mollywood is now moving in the right track after getting two super Hits in the Vishu season name Ennum Eppozhum and Oru Vadakkan Selfie which released on 27th of March. Later release  Mammootty’s Bhaskar The Rascal also getting promising start at box office made the April Month a prosper one for Mollywood after a sluggish start to this year with little hit films in the first 3 Months of 2015. The story of mollywood this year is that Many films got promising beginning but failed to sustain it later and the above mentioned two movies were done it successfully with promising start and sustaining it beautifully till now.

Even in the fourth week of its release both the films still have above 150 shows per day and still getting houseful shows every day at many theaters. Sathyan Anthikkad’s Ennum Eppozhum had become the number one choice for the families and Oru Vadakkan Selfie was took up by the younger ones. Siddique film Bhaskar the rascal also had begun well with mixed opinion and we have to see whether it will sustain it or not as recent Mammootty films such as Varsham and Fireman had failed to sustain the promising beginnings it had got at the start.

And the month of May will be of a Mass Month for Mollywood as many highly expected entertainers is going to hit the screens. Kavya Madhavan-Anoop Menon team’s film She Taxi, janapriya Nayakan  Dileep- Sidharth Bharathan team’s Chandrettan Cvideya and Kunchako Boban’s film Chirakodinja Kinavukal will hit the screens on May 1 itself. Asif Ali starrer film Driver On Duty will be on May 4 and Mohanlal-Amal Paul starring Joshiey film Laila O Laila, Laljose film Neena, Mohanlal’s Kannada blockbuster Mythri’s Malayalam Version and Vineeth Sreenivasan Starrer Oru Second Class Yathra etc will grace the silver screens on May 8.

Just two days after it there comes Kumbasaram starring Jayasurya on May 10 and May 15 is technically also a mass day as Suriya starrer Tamil film Mass is going to hit the screens on that day and from Malayalam also one of the biggest mass film conceived by Lijo Jose Pelliserry titled Double Barrel will be here to compete with Suriya’s Mass. And films like Nivin Pauly’s Premam and Prithviraj-Nivin Pauly team’s Ivide also comes in the last part of May month.

Drishyam team again to rock Mollywood, but not this year

Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph, they had done only one film and from that one film itself they become quite a team to watch out for as the only one film they did named Drishyam has now have the title of the biggest ever success in Mollywood and the only molylwood film to do the business above 40 crore in the box office and to be precise it is almost 75 crores. After that success there was many rumours that this team will unite again and in an award function Mohanlal himself declared that he and Jeethu Joseph will be doing a film in the near future. But that time too we not get any details about the film.

Later Jeethu was got busy with the remake of Drishyam in Tamil language named Papanasham for which he roped in none other than Ulaganayakan Kamal Haasan and Kamal Haasan’s wife Gauthami to play the lead roles. After completing the remake he soon started a mollywood film named Life Of Josootty as well with Dileep. Interestingly in both Papanasham and in Life of Josootty, Mohanlal’s son Pranav Mohanlal was Jeethu’s assistant director and both of them really shared great bond over that period.

Mohanlal also was very busy as he had no dates available for at least two years as many producers are waiting for his dates for their venture. And he had films such as Renjith’s Loham, Vysakh’s Puli Murugan, M Padmakumar’s Kanal, Harikar Das’s Sanskrit film Kama Mohitham, Anil’s Bharatha Ratna and has many more films to do as well. And also his previous release Ennum Eppozhum was going to get hit status very soon as the film is already got super hit status and still going strong in all the centers.

And about the rumour of their coming together Jeethu Joseph said that he will do a Mohanlal film for sure but not this year. He had to complete the second schedule of Life of Josootty and also had to complete two other films and he is writing that films. Mohanlal film also will be written by him and it may be a next year last project. Rumours are also heard that Joy Thomas Skhathi Kulangara will produce that film and he was the producer of Mohanlal’s mega hit film Hello and Jeethu Joseph’s hit film Mummy And Me.

Actor/ director and Writer Vineeth Sreenivasan had directed Young star Nivin Pauly in two films till now and both are super successes at box office. It was Vineeth Sreenivasan who found Nivin Pauly and gave him the lead role of his first directorial venture produced by actor Dileep named Malarvadi Arts Club which was scripted also by Vineeth Sreenivasan. That film was a surprising success and from then on Nivin Pauly, Bhagath Manuel and Aju Varghese etc become very bust artists in our industry. And among them Nivi Pauly become a popular hero and Aju Varghese is now one of the most sought after comedians in mollywood.

Vineeth sreenivasan’s second film starring Nivin and Aju is Thattathin Mrayathu which went on to become much better hit than their first association and had become a romantic trendsetter in Kerala and that was the film that made Nivin more popular and gave him more acceptance among youth of Kerala and among family audience as well. Vineeth Sreenivasan and Nivin Pauly had acted together as well in films like Om Shanti Oshana conceived by Jude Antony Joseph and the latest one being Oru Vadakkan Selfie helmed by Prajith for which Vineeth Sreenivasan had wrote the script. They had become a trusted pair in mollywood which can attract people in large numbers to the cinema halls.

And the latest from the M-town is that this team is again joining for a new project which is untitled and will be directed and scripted by Vineeth Sreenivasan. Not many details are out yet and they are not finalized much details too. Shan Rahman will create the tunes for this film which only start after the filming of Kunji Ramayana” in which Vineeth Sreenivasan and his younger brother Dhyan Sreenivasan will be seen together on screen and the flick is helmed by Basil Joseph. Aju Varghese also a part of this film. Director of this film named Basil Joseph is a good friend of Vineeth Sreeniavasan and it will be his debut film as well.

This pair’s latest union named Oru Vadakkan Selfie got many positive reviews and already a super hit and become one of the summer hits along with Sathyan Anthikkad- Mohanlal- Manju warrier team film named Ennum Eppozhum.

Mani Ratnam as we all know one of the best ever directors India has ever produced and his films were always been a source of inspiration for youngsters and aspiring film makers as it has its own unique nature and way of story- telling which is very different from that of all others. Mani Ratnam had always a liking towards characters from our Puraanas and specially from Mahabharatha and Ramayana. He always took stories from them and changes it to suit the modern society and there are many films of him like Thalapathy and Ravan which took its inspiration from stories of Maha Bharatha and Ramayana respectively.

In those above mentioned flicks Thalapathy is the most popular one and that was well received too. Ravan was not so successful and well received. Thalapathy was popular for another factors too and they are the presence of Mammootty and Rajiaikanth together on screen and also another unique rumour that Mani Ratnam had shot two climaxes for that movie. And the known thing is like this as Thalapathy was the story written based on the Maha Bharatha story of Karnna- Duryodhana relation and in this film Mammootty plays the character similar to Duryodhana (his character name is Deva) and Rajinikanth plays the character similar to Karnna ( his character name is Surya).

As per the original story of Maha bharatha Karnna dies in the Kurukshetra war and as per the story in this film Rajinikanth’s character Surya dies at the climax portion and Mani Ratnam shot it that way as well. But Rajinikanth had a great fan base in Tamilnadu who can’t accept the death of their star on screen and they become violent after the first show of the film and burned down the theaters here and there. So Mani Ratnam have to reshoot the climax and made Mammootty’s character Deva to die at the end portion to make the fans of the super star Rajini happy.

But in a recent interview with behindwoods, Mani Ratnam reveals that there was no such things happened with that film and he had only shot one climax which we saw in the film as Deva dies. Mani Ratnam also  said that he don’t have enough money to shoot a single climax at that time and how would have shot two climaxes then.

Mammootty to put on police uniform again

Mega star Mammootty is reportedly all set to put on the police uniform again in an upcoming flick which will be directed by a newcomer. And the newcomer is none other than the son of writer/director/actor Renji Panicker. His name is Nithin Renji Panicker and he is all prepared to debut with a big film starring Mammootty in which he will play the character of a police officer which will have some eccentric mannerisms which will define the character.

Mammootty is always keen on giving his dates to young and new directors and we can say without any doubt that he is the one in south India who had given chances to new directors more than anyone. Almost 90% of them where very successful film makers now and people like Blessy, Amal Neerad, Anwar Rasheed, Laljose, Vysakh, Ashiq Abu etc are among them who had made their first films with Mammootty and later become successful film makers here.

So Nithin Renji Panicker also seems to be on the way to a successful career with the lucky factor associated with the debut film with Mammootty in the laed. As per reports Mammootty’s character in this film is very different who will be a betel chewing man and that too in very strange ways which add to the interest of the film lovers who is waiting for the flick to roll. Nithin Renji Panicker had the experience of being the assistant and associate of his father Renji Panicker and Shaji Kailas in many films and Nithin is a very talented short story writer too with some notable works.

Mammootty has a lot more projects to finish before he joins the sets of this film by Nithin Renji Panicker. Mammootty is now finishing up the works of Marthandan’s Acha Din after that he will be seen in kamal directorial film after a long gap. Then another film also there titled White which will be helmed by another new comer Uday Ananthan and then only he may start this Nithin Renj Panicker Venture and which may begin in the last part of the month of June this year.

OK Kanmani is double ok at overseas market

Mani Ratnam’s latest offering with Dulquer Salmaan as the male lead and Nithya Menon as the female lead and titled OK Kanmani had hit the screens worldwide on the 17th April this year. The film had got mixed reviews from different critics and also from common people but the box office response was just terrific all around.  Specially the report from overseas market was superb to say the least and the distributors named Prime Media who released OK Kanmani in the United states said that the response from the audience there has been superb.

In United states the movie was released in around 73 places and in almost all the centers almost all the shows were houseful with heavy returns and the houseful shows still continuing. Prime Media, the distributors tweeted that there is HouseFull shows everywhere at United states. And they also said thanks to the director Mani Ratnam for giving them the biggest hit of their distribution career and they said that they are very much overwhelmed with the response they are getting from all the centers

The popular trade analyst named Taran Adarsh had shared the box office statistics of this film in the United states and he said that the collections were amazing for both the Tamil version of the film and for the Telugu version as well. Taran adarsh shared the collection and it is from Thursday and friday $ 175,795 or rupess 1.10 crore Indian money for the tamil version In the United states. And for the Telugu version named OK Bangaram from Thursday and Friday the film has got $ 73,360 or 45.89 lakhs of Indian Money.

This shows that even before the weekend days of Saturday and Sunday O Kadhal Kanmani has earned a collection of 1. 6 crore from United states from its two language versions and now the wait is for the weekend day collections which is expected to raise to a top level and may create some records as well on the way. The highlight of the film is of course it is a Mani Ratnam film and his partners such as A R Rahman and P C Sreeram. The actors also getting great applause from the audience.
