Kunchacko Boban-Jayasurya starrer Enthada Saji begins

Kunchacko Boban and Jayasurya are teaming up for a new film titled ‘Enthada Saji’. The film produced by Listin Stephen of Magic Frames started rolling on Friday. It is written and directed by debutant Godfy Xavier Babu. The makers have shared a poster, which gives the vibes of a fantasy film. It also has the tagline ‘Montpellier to Illikkal’.

‘Enthada Saji’ has Nivetha Thomas as the female lead. Jithu Damodar is the cinematographer and William Francis has been assigned as the music director. Editor Ratheesh Raj, makeup artist Ronex Xavier, and costume designer Sameera Saneesh are also part of the technical team.

‘Enthada Saji’ marks Kunchacko Boban and Jayasurya’s reunion after a brief gap. The two have acted together in several films before. They have shared screen space in films like ‘Swapnakoodu’, ‘101 Weddings’, ‘Four Friends’, ‘School Bus’, ‘Three Kings’, ‘Gulumal: The Escape’, ‘LollyPop’ and ‘Kilukkam Kilukilukkam’.

‘Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum’ directed by Boban Samuel was their last film together.

Here’s a list of new Malayalam films coming out on OTTs

A bunch of Malayalam films are coming out on OTTs in the next couple of weeks. The much-acclaimed ‘Pada’ has started streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The film starring Kunchacko Boban, Dileesh Pothan, Vinayakan, and Joju George is a political-thriller based on a real-life incident.

Mammootty’s recent blockbuster hit, ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ is set to premiere on Disney + Hotstar on April 1. The release date was announcing by sharing a trailer cut of the film on the OTT platform’s official YouTube page. The multilingual Prabhas-starrer ‘Radhe Shyam’ is set for release on Amazon Prime Video on the same day.

The Tovino Thomas-starrer ‘Naradhan’ is scheduled to have its digital release on April 8 on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Aashiq Abu, the film is a journalism-based thriller that is intended as a commentary on the state of media and journalism in India.

Shane Nigam’s Veyil is another Mala film scheduled for release on Amazon Prime Video. It is slated to premiere on 15 April.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the Arjun Ashokan-starrer ‘Member Rameshan 9am Ward’ will be out on Zee5 on April 1. ‘Thirimali’ starring Bibin George, Dharmajan and Johny Antony is also likely to start streaming on Manorama Max on April 1.

Apart from this, Dulquer Salmaan’s Tamil film Hey Sinamika is releasing on March 31 on Netflix and Jio Studios.

Mammootty’s ‘Puzhu’ is set to have a direct release on SonyLiv in April. But the makers are yet to officially announce the date.

Vijay’s Beast trailer release date announced

The makers of Vijay’s ‘Beast’ have announced that the film’s much-anticipated trailer will be out on April 2 at 6 PM. With the film gearing up to hit screens on April 13, fans are highly excited for the trailer. Written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Beast’ is touted to be an action entertainer made on a lavish scale.

Vijay is reportedly playing a con-agent’s role in the film. Pooja Hegde plays the female lead. Director Selvaraghavan essaying an important role role. Others in the cast include Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko, Aparna Das, Ankur Ajit Vikal, VTV Ganesh, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley and Liliput Faruqui.

‘Beast’ has music by Anirudh Ravichander. The makers have so far released a couple of singles, ‘Arabic Kuthu’ and ‘Jolly O Gymkhana’. Both the songs have got tremendous reception from fans as well as the general music lovers.

Produced by Sun Pictures, ‘Beast’ is set for release one day ahead of the Yash-starrer ‘KGF: Chapter 2’. The box office clash between both these biggies have become a talking point in trade circles.

Ajith visits Kerala for temple visit

Tamil superstar Ajith is currently in Kerala for a temple visit. The actor was spotted offering prayers earlier today at a temple in Peruvamba. Ajith is prepping up for his next film, AK 61, with director H Vinoth. It is the actor-director duo’s third film successive film after ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ and ‘Valimai’. The film, produced by Boney Kapoor, is set to go on floors shortly.

After completing H Vinoth’s film, Ajith will be teaming up with director Vignesh Shivan. Tentatively titled ‘AK 62’, the film will be produced by Lyca Productions. Anirudh Ravichander, who has earlier composed music for Ajith’s ‘Vedalam’ and ‘Vivegam’, has been signed as the composer. As per the makers, the film’s shoot will begin by the end of this year and will hit screens by mid-2022.

Vignesh Shivan is currently awaiting the release of ‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’, starring Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Samantha. The film is scheduled to be released on 28 April, 2022.

Director Vignesh Shivan’s new film ‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’ is scheduled for theatrical release on April 28. Last day, the makers called it a wrap by filming the final song sequence. Touted to be a rom-com with a triangular love story at its core, the film has Vijay Sethupathi, Samantha and Nayanthara as the leads.

Vijay Sethupathi plays a character named Ranjankudi Anbarasu Murugesa Boopathy Ohoondhiran aka Rambo in it. The film has Samantha playing a role named Kathija and Nayanthara as Kanmani. All the three lead actors are expected to have equal importance in the film.

Jana Gana Mana trailer is highly intriguing

The Prithviraj-Suraj Venjaramoodu starrer ‘Jana Gana Mana’ is set to hit screens on April 28, 2022. The film is directed by Dijo Jose Antony, of ‘Queen’ fame. Last day, the makers released a 4-minute long trailer online. An unusually long trailer, it begins with Prithviraj holding a walking stick and waiting to meet a politician. We learn that he has suffered a lot due to police brutality and is now looking for compensation. The trailer then cuts to flashes of protests in colleges. Suraj Venjaramoodu is also seen as a police officer. From the trailer, it looks the film will be an intense socio-political drama.

The film first caught attention when the makers shared a gripping promo video last year. It had Suraj as a cop who interrogates Prithviraj, the convict. Recently, during the film’s promotions, Prithviraj revealed that ‘Jana Gana Mana’ will be released in two parts and that the scenes shown in the teaser and trailer are that from the second part.

Sharis Mohammed has scripted the film with Supriya Menon and Listin Stephen jointly producing under the banners of Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames.

The cast includes Mamta Mohandas, veteran actor Shari, Dhruvan, Vincy Aloshious and ‘June’ fame Vaishnavi Venugopal. The technical crew has Sudeep Elamon of ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ fame as the cinematographer and Jakes Bejoy as the music director.

Vijay Deverakonda announces his next, Jana Gana Mana

Last day, a massive announcement about Vijay Deverakonda’s next with director Puri Jagannadh got made. The two, who are currently working on ‘Liger’, a boxing-based action film, are next planning an army-based thriller. Titled ‘Jana Gana Mana’, it is planned as a big-scale, pan-Indian project. Popular actress Charmme Kaur, filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally and Puri Jagannadh are jointly producing the film under the banner of Puri Connects.

The announcement was made in grand fashion in Mumbai with Vijay Deverakonda making his entry in a chopper as an army officer. Puri Jagannadh, co-producer Charmme Kaur and a few army officers accompanied Vijay during his grand entry.

The makers also released a motion poster online in which a war field is seen. In the background Vijay’s voice over is heard saying, “Indians are tigers, Indians are fighters, Indians can rule this world… Jana Gana Mana”. They also announced August 3, 2023 as the release date.

Meanwhile, ‘Liger’, which also stars Mike Tyson and Ananya Panday is scheduled for release on August 25, 2022.

First schedule of Mari Selvaraj’s Maamannan wrapped up

‘Karnan’ director Mari Selvaraj’s new film ‘Maamannan’ went on only floors recently. The film starring Fahadh Faasil, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Vadivelu and Keerthy Suresh as the leads is produced by Red Giant Movies. It is learnt that the makers have successfully wrapped up the first schedule of shoot. Portions involving Vedivelu and Udhayanidhi were shot in this leg of shoot.

‘Maamanithan’ is set to be a rural-based mass entertainer. It is expected to be a strong content-oriented film like Mari Selvaraj’s previous works, ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ and ‘Karnan’. The makers however have so far been tight-lipped about the film’s genre or its storyline. Maestro AR Rahman is composing music for the film and cinematography is by Theni Easwar.

Mari Selvaraj is currently one of the most sought-after filmmakers in Tamil industry. After ‘Maamannan’, he will be teaming up with Dhruv Vikram for a sports-based film. Mari’s mentor Pa Ranjith is producing the film. Mari has also committed for another film with his ‘Karnan’ actor Dhanush.

KGF: Chapter 2 trailer smashes multiple records

Earlier this week, the makers of ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ launched the film’s trailer in a grand event in Bengaluru. The trailer also got released online in multiple languages — Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. Within 24 hours of its release, the trailer smashed all pre-existing records for an Indian film by crossing 109 million YouTube views. Interestingly, it is the Hindi version that got the most traction with a whopping 51 million views. While the orginal Kannada trailer got 18 million, Telugu did 20 million, Tamil fetched 12 million and Malayalam had 8 million views.

Earlier, the makers had released the first single from the film. Titled ‘Toofan’, it is a high-on-energy song that sounds similar to the ‘Salaam Rocky Bhai’ song from the film’s first chapter. It has already got over 50 million views. The staggering figures prove the massive expectations pinned on the film.

‘KGF 2’, directed by Prashanth Neel, has Yash reprising the lead role of Rocky. The film traces his journey from a dreaded criminal and his desire to rule the gold mines of Kolar which results in a war with the villain, Adheera. Sanjay Dutt plays the antagonist’s role. Prakash Raj, Ranveena Tandon, Srinidhi Shetty, Anant Nag, Rao Ramesh, Achyuth Kumar, Vasishta N Simha and Malavika Avinash are part of the film’s supporting cast.

Amidst huge expectations, the film is set to hit screens worldwide on April 14, 2022.
