Following his brother Suriya’s footsteps, actor Karthi has also provided financial aid to fans club members affected by pandemic. While Suriya donated Rs 12.5 lakhs to 250 members, Karthi has deposited Rs 5000 each to more than 200 members of his fans club.
Last month, the brothers along with their father Sivakumar contributed Rs 1 crore towards the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund (CMPRF) for the fight against COVID-19. They personally handed over the cheque to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.

On the professional front, Karthi has ‘Irumbuthirai’ fame PS Mithran’s ‘Sardar’ and Mani Ratnam’s biggie ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ coming up. ‘Sardar’ has Karthi sporting a salt and pepper look. It is also learnt that he is playing a dual role in the film, which is a second in his career after ‘Siruthai’. Rajisha Vijayan and Raashi Khanna are the two female leads in it.

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ has Karthi sharing screen space with big names like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Trisha, Jayam Ravi etc.

Some new stills featuring a bearded Suresh Gopi has gone viral in social medias. The star’s fans are highly excited and they believe it to be his look for one of his upcoming product. Before the lockdown, he was working on ‘Paappan’, which marks his reunion with Joshiy after a long gap. Suresh Gopi plays a cop’s role in the film. During the shoot, he was seen spotted in a salt and pepper look. It is learnt that he will be appearing in a few other getups in the film. The veteran’s son Gokul Suresh, Sunny Wayne, Nyla Usha, Kaniha and Neeta Pillai will also be seen in major roles.

Suresh Gopi’s next release will be ‘Kaduva’, which got delayed multiple times due to the pandemic. Directed by ‘Kasaba’ fame Nithin Renji Panicker, it is a mass entertainer spanning two different timelines.

Suresh Gopi also has ‘Ottakomban’, a high-voltage mass flick coming up. It is to be directed by debutant Mathew Thomas and produced by Tomichan Mulakkupadam. The film has been planned to be made on a budget of around Rs 25 crores.

The trailer of upcoming Hindi film ‘Haseen Dillruba’ has been released online. The film stars Taapsee Pannu, Harshvardhan Rane and Vikrant Massey, the leads. From the trailer, we can make out that it is a murder mystery in which Taapsee and Vikrant Massey play a married couple. The film explores the three shades of love – lust, obsession and deceit

According to the makers, the film’s plot goes like this:

Under investigation as a suspect in her husband’s murder, a wife reveals details of their troublesome marriage that seem to only further blur the truth.

‘Haseen Dillruba’ is helmed by Vinil Mathew, who made his directorial debut in 2014 with ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’. It is scripted by Kanik Dhillon. She has earlier penned films like ‘Manmarziyaan’, ‘Kedarnath’, ‘Judgementall Hai Kya’ and ‘Guilty’.

Amit Trivedi has composed the music and edits are handled by Shweta Venkat Mathew. The film is scheduled for direct Netflix release on July 2. It is jointly produced by T-Series and Colour Yellow Productions Pvt. Ltd.

In a recent Clubhouse interaction, cinematographer-filmmaker Santosh Sivan made a startling revelation. He revealed that he will be next directing a Netflix film scripted by the legendary MT Vasudevan Nair. According to Santosh Sivan, it is a challenging project as it is not a regular film but one with an abstract concept. Veteran Siddique will be playing the lead role in the film, which is about a man waiting for death.

Soon after Santosh Sivan’s revelation, netizens started discussing in length about the project. Talks suggest that Netflix is planning an anthology-like project based on MT’s scripts. Priyadarshan will also be directing a segment in it. An official confirmation regarding the same is still awaited.

Meanwhile, Santosh Sivan’s directorial project ‘Jack and Jill’ continues to be under the wraps. Starring Manju Warrier, Kalidas Jayaram and Soubin Shahir as the leads, it is a multi-genre film that has Artificial Intelligence as an integral part. It is expected to release soon after the pandemic situation gets better.

Santosh Sivan is currently working as the cinematographer of superstar Mohanlal’s directorial debut ‘Barroz’. It is a big-scale fantasy film made entirely in 3D format. Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran and a bunch of foreign actors star in it

Filmmaker-actor Major Ravi is celebrating his birthday today. On this occasion, Unni Mukundan took to his social media handle to share a photo of them from the sets of ‘Meppadiyan’. Along with that, he also penned a heartfelt note wishing Major.

Years back, Unni and Major are said to have had an altercation at the sets of ‘Salaam Kashmir’. It is a poorly kept secret in the industry but the two seem to have come a long way from that incident. In his brief note, Unni has written about how he has changed for the good and shares a very special relationship with Major now. The actor also expressed his wish to work with him in an army film.

On May 31, the occasion of the birthday of his father Krishna, Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu had launched a vaccination drive in his native village, Burripalem in Andhra Pradesh. The 7-day long drive has been successfully completed.

Informing the same, Mahesh Babu’s wife Namrata Shirodkar wrote in her Instagram handle,

Successfully completed the 7-day vaccination drive in Burripalem!! Can’t be happier to have got our village vaccinated Thank you @urstrulymahesh, for always being as solid as a rock, @andhrahospitals @mbofficialteam for your relentless support and most importantly, a big thank you to all our villagers who came forward to take it! (sic)

Earlier, Mahesh Babu had tweeted,

Vaccination is our ray of hope for a normal life again! Doing my bit to ensure everyone in Burripalem is vaccinated and safe. Extremely grateful to #AndhraHospitals for helping us arrange this vaccination drive (sic)

Mahesh Babu had adopted Burripalem, his ancestral village, in 2015 after the release of his film, ‘Srimanthudu’. The star has carried out many developmental works in the village through his charity.

Last day, the website unveiled the list of the half year list of the most popular Indian films and web series of 2021. These 10 movies and web series are either released theatrically or online in India between January 1 and June 3, 2021.

Thalapathy Vijay starrer ‘Master’ has topped the list. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s ‘Drishyam 2’ is ranked fourth in the list. Another Malayalam film to have a place in the top 10 is the critically acclaimed, ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’.

‘Jagame Thandhiram’ is gearing up for its world premiere in Netflix on June 18. During a recent Twitter Spaces session, director Karthik Subbaraj revealed that the film’s Netflix version will have some cuts. Due to Netflix’s streaming policy, the makers have removed two songs as the platform has audiences from all over the world. The chartbuster song ‘Bujji’ and the romantic song ‘Nethu’ have been removed but they will be included during the TV premiere in Vijay TV, which will be two months after the Netflix release.

‘Jagame Thandhiram’ promises to be an action-packed gangster film. Dhanush plays the lead character named Suruli, a small-time thug based in Madurai who later becomes a gangster in London. Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sanchana Natarajan are the two female leads.

Hollywood actor James Cosmo, Joju George, Kalaiyarasan and many others are part of the cast. The core technical team comprises of Santhosh Narayanan, cinematographer Shreyas Krishna and editor Vivek Harsha. S Sashikanth of Y Not Studios is producing the film.

After Powerstar, Omar Lulu to team up with Jayaram for a family entertainer

Talks about Jayaram and Omar Lulu teaming up have been doing the rounds for a long time. However, there has been no official announcement yet. Last day, during a Clubhouse interaction session, the director was asked about the same. He confirmed that he is indeed planning to collaborate with Jayaram. If things turn out as per plans, Omar’s next after ‘Powerstar’ will be with Jayaram. Apparently, it will be a family based entertainer, unlike Omar’s other films, which are mostly youth-centric.

Over the last few years, Jayaram has been going through a lean phase. Though he has done meaty roles in some other-language films, he hasn’t been in any great form in Malayalam. The veteran star will be next teaming up with Sathyan Anthikad, his one-time frequent collaborator. Meera Jasmine is also making her comeback with this film. It is scripted by Dr Iqbal Kuttipuram. Central Productions is producing the film, shoot for which is expected to begin once the pandemic situation gets better.

Fahadh Faasil’s ‘Malik’ and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s ‘Cold Case’ are eyeing a direct OTT release. Anto Joseph, who is producing both the films, has written a letter to the Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation informing his decision. Though the producer tried his best for theatrical release, he was forced to opt for OTTs due to financial constraints. Talks with leading streaming platforms are currently underway and an official announcement will be made soon.

‘Malik’ directed by Mahesh Narayanan has been under the wraps for well over a year now. The film was originally planned to hit screens by mid-2020 but due to the pandemic, it got delayed multiple release. Starring Fahadh Faasil in the titular role, it is a big-budget semi-period film that spans multiple timelines. Vinay Forrt, Nimisha Sajayan, Dileesh Pothan, Joju George, Dinesh Prabhakar, Indrans, Sudhi Koppa, Chandhunath, yesteryear actress Jalaja and Maala Parvathi will be seen in supporting roles.

‘Cold Case’ starring Prithviraj as a cop is an investigative thriller. Though shoot got completed last December itself, the makers haven’t shared any promotional material so far. Cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Tanu Balak is making his directorial debut with this film. It is scripted by Srinath V Nath. Tamil actress Aditi Balan of ‘Aruvi’ fame plays the female lead.
