Anarkali Marikar plays an alien in Gaganachari

Gokul Suresh and Anarkali Marikar are teaming up for a new film titled ‘Gaganachari’. The film is directed by ‘Saajan Bakery’ fame Arun Chandu and produced by Vinayaka Films. Its shoot commenced in February and is currently nearing completion. The film is a science-fiction comedy set in the 1950s. It is learnt that Anarkali plays an alien in the film.

Reportedly, Anarkali’s character in the film visits the Earth to study about human culture. The alien arrives at an apartment complex where some Malayalis live. Along with Gokul Suresh, veteran Ganesh Kumar and Aju Varghese essay the other important roles in it. The film has a very intriguing concept and it will be interesting to see how it gets translated on screen.

‘Gaganachari’ is Arun Chandu’s third directorial venture. His debut film ‘Sayanna Varthakal’ stars Gokul Suresh and Dhyan Sreenivasan in the lead roles. The film has been delayed for over two years now and there is still no updates regarding its release. Arun then made ‘Saajan Bakery Since 1962’ with Aju Varghese and Lena as the leads. Ganesh Kumar played a prominent role in that film as well.

Rajisha Vijayan’s Kho Kho gets a release date!

It has been announced that Rajisha Vijayan’s new film ‘Kho Kho’ will be hitting screens on April 14 as a Vishu release. The film is written and directed by Rahul Riji Nair of ‘Ottamuri Velicham’ fame. His last film ‘Kalla Nottam’ recently won the National award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam.

‘Kho Kho’ is a sports-based film that has Rajisha playing the role of a Kho Kho coach. It is a traditional Indian sport, which is also played across South Asia and some parts of South Africa and England. It is probably the first time that a film based on Kho Kho is being made in mainstream Indian cinema. Some original Kho Kho players are also acting in the film.

‘Kho Kho’ has cinematography by Tobin Thomas and music by Sidhartha Pradeep. Editor-turned-filmmaker Appu Bhattathiri is the post-production supervisor and edits are done by Christy Sebastian. The film is being produced under the banner of First Print Studios.

Sara Ali Khan, Dhanush and Akshay Kumar starrer Atrangi Re wrapped up

‘Atrangi Re’ is an upcoming multi-starrer Hindi film directed by Aanand L Rai. Dhanush, Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan play the lead roles in the film. After a 1-year-long shoot that saw various breaks, the makers have finally called it a wrap.

Both Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan have shared photos in their social media handle to inform about the completion of shoot. Sara has also thanked director Anand K Rai for the opportunity and her colleagues Dhanush and Akshay Kumar for being such great co-stars. She has written,

‘Atrangi Re’ is scripted by National award winner Himanshu Sharma. Dhanush is said to be playing a Tamilian’s role in the film. Apart from playing one of the leads, the star has also sung a track under AR Rahman’s composition. Pankaj Kumar is the cinematographer and Hemal Kothari handles the edits. T-Series, Colour Yellow Productions and Cape of Good Films are jointly producing the film. The makers have announced that the film will be hitting screens on August 6, 2021.

Arya is teaming up with Pa Ranjith, one of the most promising filmmakers in Tamil cinema, for a new film titled ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’. It is a boxing based film set in the 70s and 80s. As part of promotions, the makers have released a new video introducing the world of ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ and the characters in it. Arya plays a boxer named Kabilan in the film. John Kokken seems to be essaying his main rival, Idiyappa Paramabarai Vembuli. The video shows how the actors hitting the gym and training hard in boxing. Both Arya and Kokken look stunning as they flaunt their ripped physique.

‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ tries to showcase the boxing clubs culture of North Madras during the 70s and 80s. The story majorly revolves around the long-lasting rivalry between two groups. The cast also includes Kalaiayarasan, Dushara, ‘Game Over’ fame Sanchana Natarajan, John Vijay, Pasupathi, Anupama Kumar, Santhosh Prathap and Kaali Venkat among others.

On the technical front, cinematographer Murali G and music director Santhosh Narayanan, both of whom are regulars in Pa Ranjith’s films, have been retained. Stunt master duo AnbuAriv have handled the action choreography.

Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions is backing the film along with K9 Studios.

Mohanlal’s hugely hyped directorial debut ‘Barroz’ got launched only recently. It was one of the biggest launch events in recent times as it saw the presence of several big names like Mammootty, Prithviraj, Dileep, directors Priyadarshan, Fazil, Sibi Malayil and Sathyan Anthikad.

For his directorial debut, Mohanlal has assembled a highly efficient technical crew. Multiple national award winner Santosh Sivan is cranking the camera for this film. Just a while ago, he shared a photo taken with Mohanlal from the sets of ‘Barroz’.

It is worth a mention that Santosh Sivan was not the first choice for ‘Barroz’. KU Mohanlal was supposed to wield the camera. He was even part of the team during the initial pre-production stages. However, he had to opt out due to the delay in the project going on floors. It was only later that Santosh Sivan stepped in. Sivan and Mohanlal go a long way back as they have worked together in films like ‘Yodha’, ‘Nirnayam’, ‘Kalapani’, ‘Iruvar’.

Scripted by ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’ director Jijo Punnoose, ‘Barroz’ is a fantasy film set against the backdrop of the maritime history of Portugal, Spain, India and Africa. Mohanlal plays the titular role and a 13-year-old child artiste named Shayla McCaffrey essays the other lead. Prithviraj Sukumaran and Prathap Pothen are the only other Malayalam actors to have confirmed so far in the cast. Foreign actors from US, Spain, Portugal and Ghana are said to be part of the film.

Sasikumar and Jyothika to play siblings in Suriya’s next production!

Suriya’s own production house 2D Entertainment is producing a new film with Jyothika and Sasikumar as the leads. Ra Saravanan of ‘Kathukutti’ fame is directing the film. It is learnt that Jyothika and Sasikumar play siblings in it. Samuthirakani essays the role of Jyothika’s husband. The film is about how Jyothika tackles her upright husband and ruffian brother. As confirmed by the makers, it will be an emotional drama.

The cast also includes Soori, ‘Madras’ Kalaiyarasan, and Nivethitha in supporting roles. On the technical front, the film has music composed by D Imman, who recently won the National award for his excellent work in the Ajith starrer ‘Viswasam’. Velraj has cranked the camera and Ruben is in charge of the edits.

Shoot for this yet-to-be titled film has already been completed. Major portions were shot in Tanjore and surrounding locales. Reportedly, the film will be releasing in the second half of this year.

Murali Gopy confirms teaming up with Prithviraj for a Mammootty project!

Ever since the smashing success of ‘Lucifer’, Malayali cinephiles have been eagerly waiting to know when the writer-director combo of Murali Gopy and Prithviraj will be making a film with Mammootty. Though there have been multiple speculations in the past, neither of them had given an official confirmation.

However, in a recent interview, when asked about the possibility of such a project, Murali Gopy assured that it is definitely on the cards. He added that they have already planned to make a film which will be a tribute of sorts to the actor and megastar that Mammootty is. They will start working on it after completing their prior commitments.

Meanwhile, Murali Gopy is scripting another film with Mammootty as the lead. Shibu Basheer, a journalist-turned-filmmaker is making his directorial debut with it. Vijay Babu of Friday Film House is producing the film, which is planned to be made on a huge scale. Since is Murali Gopy’s first outing as a scenarist with Mammootty, expectations will be huge. More details are expected to be revealed in the coming days.

Pathrosinte Padappukkal shoot completed

‘Pathrosinte Padappukal’ is an upcoming Malayalam film starring Sharafudheen, Dinoy, Naslen, Grace Antony and Ranjitha Menon in the lead roles. After a month-long shoot, it got wrapped up last day. Debutant Afsal Abdul Latheef is directing the film. It is scripted by Dinoy Paulose, who was the co-writer of the blockbuster film ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’.

During the film’s announcement of ‘Pathrosinte Padappukal’, the makers had shared an interesting title poster. From that, we could make out that it is a family drama revolving around Pathrose and family comprising of his wife, three sons and a daughter.

Sharafudheen plays the eldest son’s character named Sony Pathrose. Dinoy Paulose plays the second one named Tony and Naslen will be seen as the youngest one named Bony. The film has cinematography by Jayesh Mohan and music department handled by Jakes Bejoy. Marikar Entertainments is producing the film.

Release plans are expected to be announced soon.

The trailer of Siju Wilson’s new film ‘Innu Muthal’ has just been released in social medias. The film is written and directed By Rejishh Midhila. The 1.42-minute long trailer looks intriguing with an unique concept. It seems like the film has elements of magical realism. From the trailer, it is presumed that ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ fame Suraj Pops appears as the incarnation of God in the film.

The supporting cast also includes Indrans, Uday Chandra, Smrithi Sugathan, Gokulan, Navas Vallikkunnu, Kottayam Ramesh, Leji Joseph, Anil Perumbalam, Dileep Lokre, Hhary Jo, Alex Parappuram, Kaushik Menon, Jofi Tharakan, Uthara, Master Achun, Mohanan Panavally and many others.

Rejissh Midhila has previously directed the Jayasurya starrer ‘Lal Bahadur Shastri’ and ‘Vaarikuzhiyile Kolapathakam’ that had Amit Chakkalakkal as the lead. He has also produced his new film ‘Innu Muthal’ along with Mejjo Joseph and Lijo James under the banner of The Great Indian Cinemas.

Eldho Issac is the cinematographer and music department is handled by Mejjo Joseph. Editor Jamseel Ibrahim, production designer Shamjith Ravi, makeup artist Sinoop Raj, costumesr Ann Sariga and sound designers Nikhil Sebastian and Rebish KR form the technical crew.

‘Innu Muthal’ is releasing tomorrow directly in Keralam Channel at 5 PM.
