It is Telugu star Ram Charan’s birthday today and social medias are abuzz with wishes for him. As a special treat for his fans, the makers of his new films ‘RRR’ and ‘Acharya’ have also released new posters. ‘RRR’ directed by SS Rajamouli has Ram Charan playing a character named Alluri Sita Ramaraju. In the new poster, he looks fierce and powerful as he poses with a bow and arrow. Sharing the poster, Rajamouli wrote that Alluri Sita Ramaraju is a man of bravery, honour and integrity.

‘RRR’ also stars Jr NTR as the other lead. The period flick made on a massive budget is about two freedom fighters, Alluri Sita Ramaraju and Komaram Bheem who fought against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad, respectively. Jr NTR essays the part of Komaram Bheem. Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is paired with Ram Charan in the film. Ajay Devgn, Olivia Morris, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, Samuthirakani and many others are part of the cast.

‘RRR’ is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on October 13, 2021.

Extraordinary response for Kurup teaser in social medias

Amidst high expectations, the teaser of Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Kurup’ got released online last day. The teaser was released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi languages. The general response in social media has been extraordinary so far. Within 16 hours of release, the Malayalam version alone has got over 2.1 million views.

‘Kurup’ is directed by Srinath Rajendran of ‘Second Show’ and ‘Koothara’ fame. It is based on India’s most wanted fugitive, Sukumara Kurup. Jithin K Jose has written the story and screenplay is penned jointly by KS Aravind and Daniel Sayooj Nair.

‘Kurup’ teaser begins with a Hindi voiceover introducing Kurup as a notorious criminal. Indrajith, who plays a cop in the film, voices that it is the story of a man who has been absconding for 36 long years. Dulquer then makes an appearance in an extremely stylish suited look. The visuals and colour pattern in the teaser are striking and make an impression. Nimish Ravi of ‘Luca’ fame has cranked the camera for the film.

Dulquer’s own banner Wayfarer Films is producing the film along with M Star Entertainment.

‘Acharya’ is directed by Kortala Siva, one of the most successful filmmakers in Telugu industry. The film tracks the story of a social reformer, who fights against misuse of temple funds and donations. The story is about a middle-aged naxalite-turned-social reformer who launches a fight against the system. Chiranjeevi plays this lead character. Mahesh Babu was initially approached to play a crucial role but it could not materialize. Ram Charan later replaced him.

Ram Charan is also producing the film along with Niranjan Reddy of Matinee Entertainment. The film has music scored by Mani Sharma and cinematography by Tirru. It is scheduled to hit screens on May 13, 2021.

Mohanlal and AR Rahman had recently shot together for an important sequence in the upcoming film ‘Aarattu’. The film directed by B Unnikrishnan has AR Rahman appearing in a cameo role. Since the maestro is usually hesitant to act, the makers had to put in a lot of efforts to convince him to take up the role. He will be making a brief appearance as himself in a crucial scene in the film. Shoot was held last week at his studio in Chennai.

As informed earlier, the teaser of Fahadh Faasil’s highly expected film ‘Malik’ has been released online. The film is directed by Mahesh Narayanan of ‘Take Off’ fame. It is a semi-period film that spans multiple timelines. The film is inspired by some real life incidents that occurred few years back in Kerala.

‘Malik’ scripted by director Mahesh Narayanan himself is set in a sensitive coastal area where there was a resistance against the constant threat of displacement of a minority community. Fahadh Faasil plays the lead character of Sulaiman Malik who is like a leader of the community. The supporting cast includes Vinay Forrt, Nimisha Sajayan, Dileesh Pothan, Indrans, Sudhi Koppa, Chandhunath, yesteryear actress Jalaja and Maala Parvathy among others.

Apart from directing and scripting, Mahesh Narayanan is also editing the film. Cinematographer Sanu John Varughese, music director Sushin Shyam, production desinger Santhosh Raman and sound designers Vishnu Govind and Sree Sankar are part of the technical team. The film produced by Anto Joseph is set for a grand theatrical release on May 13.

Release date of Indrajith starrer Aaha announced

Indrajith Sukumaran’s sports flick ‘Aaha’ is finally set for the release. It has been announced that the film will be hitting screens on June 4. Debutant Bibin Paul Samuel is directing the film, which is based on Kerala’s own sport, ‘tug of war’ aka ‘vadamvali’. It is being produced by Prem Abraham of Zsa Zsa Productions.

‘Aaha’ scripted by Tobit Chirayath is inspired from a famous team ‘Aaha Neeloor’ from Pala. The film’s story is centred around a tug of war team’s journey that spans two different timelines. Along with Indrajith, actors like Manoj K Jayan, Amit Chakalakkal and Ashwin K Kumar will also be seen in major roles. Santhy Balachandran of ‘Tharangam’ and ‘Jallikattu’ fame plays the female lead. She is paired opposite Indrajith.

The technical crew of ‘Aaha’ comprises of cinematographer Rahul Balachandran and music directors Sayanora Philip and Shiyad Kabeer (background score). Director Bibin Paul Samuel himself is editing the film.

The official teaser of upcoming Malayalam movies ‘Djibouti’ has just been released online. Several leading stars including Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil and Jayasurya have shared the teaser through their respective social media handles.

‘Djibouti’ directed by SJ Sinu looks like an action packed entertainer. The director himself has penned the story and he has written the screenplay along with Afsal Abdul Latheef. The film is set entirely in Djibouti, a country in East Africa. During the film’s shoot last year, the cast and crew got struck there for a few weeks due to the pandemic-induced travel restrictions.

Amith Chakalakkal, noted for his roels in ‘Honey Bee’, ‘C/O Saira Banu’ and ‘Vaarikuzhiyile Kolapathakam’, plays the lead role in ‘Djibouti’. Jacob Gregory, Shagun Jaswal, Dileesh Pothan and Anjali Nair essay the supporting roles.

On the technical front, the film has cinematography by TD Sreenivas and music by Deepak Dev. Samjith Mohammed is handling the edits.
