Super Saranya: Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal fame Girish AD’s next starts rolling

After the blockbuster success of ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’, director Girish AD has begun works on his next. Titled as ‘Super Saranya’, the film has Anaswara Rajan in the titular role. Arjun Ashokan plays the other lead. The film got launched today in Palakkad. Director Girish is also producing along with Shibin Backer.

According to the makers, ‘Super Saranya’ is a campus based romantic film told from the female lead’s perspective. The team was supposed to start shooting in April last year but decided to postpone it due to the pandemic. It could not be filmed then in a controlled environment.

Just like ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’, Girish AD’s new film will also have a mix of fresh talents and seasoned actors. Sajith Purushan is cranking the camera and edits are handled by Akash Joseph Varghese. Justin Varghese is composing music for the film. More details are expected to be announced officially in the coming days.

Aishwarya Lekhsmi’s Telugu debut Godse starts rolling

As reported by us earlier, Malayalam actress Aishwarya Lekshmi is making her Telugu debut with a film titled ‘Godse’. Sathyadev plays the male lead in the film, which is directed by Gopi Ganesh Pattabhi. Shoot for the film kick-started today.

Since ‘Godse’ marks the reunion of Gopi Ganesh Pattabhi and Sathyadev after the success of ‘Bluff Master’, expectations are on the higher side. The film produced by C Kalyan is said to be an action packed thriller. Nasser, Brahmaji, Aditya Menon and Kishore in major roles.

Aishwarya Lekshmi meanwhile has a handful of projects lined up in Malayalam. She has already completed shooting for ‘Kaanekaane’ and her maiden solo-lead film, ‘Archana 31’ directed by debutant Akhil Anilkumar. She is also playing the main lead in ‘Ranam’ director Nirmal Sahadev’s second film, ‘Kumari’. ‘Bismi Special’, that has her reuniting with her ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’, co-star Nivin Pauly is her other Malayalam project in kitty.

In Tamil, Aishwarya has ‘Jagame Thandhiram’, coming up. Dhanush plays the lead role in the film which is directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The actress is also part of Mani Ratnam’s mega biggie, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’.

Confirmed: Malayalam actor Dhruvan also part of Valimai

Thala Ajith’s ‘Valimai’ is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Directed by H Vinoth, the film is touted to be a cop-thriller made on a lavish scale. Though it has been over a year since shoot commenced, the makers have been extremely tight-lipped about the film so far. There has been no official regarding the cast yet but we have managed to learn that Malayalam actor Dhruvan is part of the film.

The young actor who made his debut with the hit film ‘Queen’ is also noted for his roles in films like ‘Children’s Park’ and ‘Finals’. Rumours are rife that Dhruvan essays a cop’s role in ‘Valimai’ but a confirmation is still awaited.

‘Valimai’ has Bollywood actress Huma Quereshi as the female lead. Telugu actor Karthikeya Gummakonda will be seen as the antagonist in the film. Veteran actors Sumithra and Achyuth Kumar are also part of the cast. The film has Yuvan Shankar Raja as the music director and Nirav Shah as the cinematographer. It is being produced by Boney Kapoor.

‘Drishyam 2’ is getting ready for its world premiere on February 19 in Amazon Prime Video. Prior to that, the makers are busy promoting the film by releasing new updates. A new set of location stills were shared today. One of them features Mohanlal’s Georgekutty being taken to the police jeep. This naturally raises the curiosity as to whether the protagonist gets caught for the crime he had committed few years back.

From the earlier released teaser and trailer, it is evident that Georgekutty and family are not yet out of trouble as the investigation regarding Varun murder case is still continuing. Murali Gopy, who seems to be playing a high rank police officer, heads the investigation now. Asha Sarath’s cop character Geeta Prabhakar is also back in the scheme of things.

As confirmed by director Jeethu Joseph, ‘Drishyam 2’ will be more intense and emotional than the first part.

Priyanka Chopra is an international star today with several big projects in Bollywood and Hollywood lined up. But not many know that the former Miss World started her acting career with a Tamil film. PC’s debut film ‘Tamizhan’ had her paired opposite Thalapathy Vijay. Besides playing the female lead, she also lent her voice for peppy song with Vijay in the film.

In her recently published memoir ‘Unfinished’, Priyanka Chopra has mentioned about Vijay and how she was floored by his humility and generosity with fans. Explaning an incident that happened at the sets of her TV show ‘Quantico’, she has written,

“As I stood and took pictures with them through my lunch break, I thought about my very first co-actor ever and the example he’d set. Vijay’s humility and his generosity with fans made a lasting impression on me”.

‘Unfinished’ is described as a collection of personal essays, stories and observations. It chronicles important moments in Priyanka Chopra’s life and her 20-year-long career, such as working as an actress-producer and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

Operation Java releasing tomorrow amidst high expectations

‘Operation Java’ is all set for release tomorrow (February 12). It is also the opening film at prestigious Shenoys theatre in Kochi, which is reopening after four yesrs. The film has high expectations particularly after the excellent response garnered by the trailer. Cinephiles in social medias have pinned high hopes on the film.

‘Operation Java’, written and directed by debutant Tharun Moorthy, is an investigative film revolving around cyber crimes. The film is inspired from several real-life incidents. It focusses on how the Kerala Police’s cyber department functions and the various cases they crack.

Vinayakan, Lukman, Irshad, Balu Varghese, Shine Tom Chacko, Binu Pappu, Dhanya Ananya, Mamitha Baiju, Vineetha Koshy, Johny Antony and Prashanth Alexander are part of the film’s cast. It has edits by Nishadh Yusuf and cinematography by Faiz Siddik, who has also cranked the camera for the upcoming films ‘Aanaparambile World Cup’, ‘The Wolf’ and ‘Adi’.

SS Rajamouli’s next after his ongoing ambitious film ‘RRR’ will be with Mahesh Babu. As per latest reports, the film will be an action-packed adventure drama set in the backdrop of African jungles. Rajamouli’s father KV Vijayendra Prasad is scripting the film. He has written the storyline for most of his son’s films including ‘Magadheera’ ‘RRR’ and the ‘Baahubali’ series.

Meanwhile, ‘RRR’ shoot is nearing completion. The makers have announced that the film will be hitting screens worldwide on October 13. It was originally scheduled for release much earlier but got delayed due to the pandemic. Starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR as the leads, the film promises to be a treat for mass action film lovers.

‘RRR’, set in the pre-independence era, is a fictitious story that revolves around freedom fighters, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) who fought against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad, respectively. Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, Samuthirakani and many others are part of the cast.

Mohanlal reveals that Barroz shoot will begin by mid-April

Mohanlal’s directorial debut ‘Barroz’ was supposed to begin last year, but due to the pandemic, they had to shelve their plans. Pre-production works have been underway for almost a year now. It is a highly ambitious film that is planned to be made entirely in 3D format. With the pandemic situation getting slightly better now, the makers are thinking of reviving the project.

In a recent interview to Film Companion, Mohanlal revealed that they are planning to begin works from mid-April. He also added that the film got delayed as most of the cast and crew members are from abroad. Jijo Punnoose, the visionary filmmaker who made India’s first 3D film ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’, is scripting the film. Santosh Sivan will be handling the camera. Initially, KU Mohanan was part of the project but he opted out due to other commitments.

‘Barroz’ is a fantasy film set against the backdrop of the maritime history of Portugal, Spain, India and Africa. It is the story of Barroz, a mythical figure who was the gaurdian of Vasco da Gama’s valuable treasures for 400 years until his true heir comes back to protect it. Mohanlal will be playing the titular role and the supporting cast mostly comprises of foreign actors from US, Spain, Portugal and Ghana.

The first schedule of Dhanush’s upcoming film with director Karthick Naren has been completed. Tentatively titled as ‘D 43’, the film is said to be a thriller. Malavika Mohanan plays the female lead in it. Reports suggest that Dhanush and Malavika play investigative journalists in the film. It must be noted that during the announcement of ‘D 43’, the makers had shared a poster which revealed an intriguing bit about the plot. It is centred around the death of an independent journalist, Gurumoorthy, and his wife in an accident, and how their elder son tries to solve the mystery behind the deaths.

Recently, after the completion of the first schedule, Malavika shared photos taken with Dhanush and mentioned about the great time she had while woking with him. Her post reads,

So glad to have met you and worked with you, my fellow leo co-actor! Will miss your infectious laughter, learning so much from you everyday and our mutual love for ‘maggi’

Had a blast of a first schedule, and can’t wait to start the second one soon.

Karthick Naren has scripted ‘D 43’ along with the Malayali scenarists Suhas-Sharafu of ‘Varathan’ fame. Lyricist Vivek has penned the additional screenplay and dialogues. ‘Thadam’ fame Smruthi Venkat, ‘Soorarai Pottru’ fame Krishna Kumar and Samuthirakani will also be seen in major roles in the film.
