Andrea Jeremiah shares video of training in archery for Master

Vijay-Vijay Sethupathi starrer ‘Master’ continues to rock the box office and with the weekend coming, the numbers are only likely to go up. Despite the 50% cap in theatres and the pandemic situation, fans and commoners are flocking theatres in large numbers for the big screen experience. It is the first major release in around 10 months and the whole industry seems to have got the much-needed booster.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, ‘Master’ is an action-packed mass entertainer. The clash between Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi is unarguably the film’s USP. The cast also includes actors like Arjun Das, Malavika Mohanan, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and Gouri Kishan.

Andrea Jeremiah appears in a brief cameo role in the film. Though her screen time is short, she has a proper whistle-worthy moment towards the film’s climax. The actress has shared a throwback video of her training in archery for the film. It is commendable on her part to have put in the efforts to get the basics right to look authentic on-screen as a professional archer.

‘Vakeel Saab’, the Telugu version of acclaimed Hindi film ‘Pink’, is gearing up for release. The film has Pawan Kalyan, Shruti Haasan, Nivetha Thomas, Anjali and Ananya Nagalla playing the major roles. The film’s teaser got released last day on the special occasion of Sankranti. From the teaser, it is evident that the makers have tweaked the original script to give importance to Pawan Kalyan, the superstar.

‘Pink’ directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury is a social-drama that had Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang in lead roles. The film discussed sensitive issues about women’s rights and dignity. It won widespread critical acclaim and even bagged the National film award for Best Film on Other Social Issues.

Earlier, ‘Pink’ was successfully remade in Tamil as ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ (NKP), with Ajith reprising Amitabh Bachchan’s role. The same role is now being essayed by Pawan Kalyan in ‘Vakeel Saab’. Sriram Venu is directing the film and it has music by Thaman S.

Teaser of Mammootty starrer The Priest released

As announced by the makers, the teaser of Mammootty’s ‘The Priest’ has dropped online. Fans had been eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse of the film and as it turns out, the teaser looks promising. The film directed by debutant Jofin T Chacko is said to be a mystery thriller. It does not reveal much about the storyline and thus retains the mystery element.

The makers have not yet revealed any details regarding the film. From the promos, it looks like Mammootty plays a priest’s role. Manju Warrier plays the female lead’s part. It is her first film with Mammootty and their on-screen chemistry will be something interesting to look forward to.

The cast also includes Nikhila Vimal, Jagadheesh, Ramesh Pisharody, Ameya Mathew, Baby Monica of ‘Kaithi’ fame, ‘Nayika Nayakan’ fame Venkitesh and Tony Luke. Cinematographer Akhil George, editor Shameer Muhammed and music director Rahul Raj form the core technical team. The film is jointly produced by Anto Joseph, B Unnikrishnan and VN Babu.

Jakes Bejoy is excited to join Mammootty’s next

As already reported by us, Mammootty has signed a film with debutante director Ratheena Sharshad. The trio of Harshad, Suhas and Sharfu are scripting the film. Harshad had previously scripted ‘Unda’, also starring Mammootty. The two other scenarists, Suhas and Sharfu, made their debut with ‘Varathan’ and later co-wrote the multi-starrer ‘Virus’ with Muhsin Parari.

Ratheena Sharshad’s directorial debut already has a strong technical crew comprising of cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, editor Deepu Joseph, art director Manu Jagath and costume designer Sameera Saneesh. The team recently got one more addition in the form of music director Jakes Bejoy. Interestingly, this is Jakes’ first opportunity to score for a Mammootty starrer and he seems really excited about it.

Last day, the composer shared a photo with Ratheena and team in his social media handle. He also wrote,

Jakes Bejoy is noted for his work in films like ‘Queen’, ‘Ranam’, ‘Ishq’ and ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’. He has also done other language films like ‘Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru’ and the Vijay Deverakonda-starrer ‘Taxiwala’.

As a Pongal special, the makers of Simbu’s new film ‘Maanadu’ have released a new poster. It features Simbu and SJ Suryah, who is said to be playing the antagonist role in the film. ‘Maanadau’ is a political thriller written and directed by Venkat Prabhu. The film has Simbu playing a Muslim character named Adbul Khaaliq.

Kalyani Priyadrashan plays the female lead. Bharathiraja, and Manoj Bharathi will be seen essaying important roles. On the technical front, Richard M Nathan is the cinematographer and Praveen KL handles the edits. Venkat Prabhu’s frequent collaborator Yuvan Shankar Raja has been retained as the music director for this film as well.

Dhanush’s new film helmed by his brother Selvaraghavan has been titled as ‘Naane Varuven’. On the occasion of Pongal, the makers revealed the title along with a couple of posters featuring a stylish-looking Dhanush. Kalippuli S Thanu of V Creations is producing the film, which will have cinematography by Arvind Krishna and music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

The same combo of Dhanush, Selvaraghavan, Arvind Krishna and Yuvan Shankar Raja had earlier worked together in films like ‘Thulluvadho Ilamai’, ‘Kadhal Kodein’ and ‘Pudhupettai’. So expectations will be on the higher side for ‘Naane Varuven’. After this, the duo will also be teaming up for the ambitious ‘Aayirathil Oruvan 2’, which is planned as a 2024 release.

As reported by us earlier, Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi is making his full fledged Malayalam debut with 19 (1)(a). It is a film that grabbed attention right from its announcement. The film has a stellar star cast lead by three extremely talented actors — Vijay Sethupathi, Nithya Menen and Indrajith Sukumar. Debutant Indu VS is directing the film. The makers have now successfully wrapped up the entire shoot.

Director Indu has also scripted ’19 (1)(a)’. As per the makers, the film has a pan-Indian subject that demands efficient performers like Vijay Sethupathi, Nithya Menen and Indrajith. Veteran Indrans also will be seen essaying an important role. Others in the vast include Bhagath Manuel and Deepak Parambol.

On the technical side, Govind Vasantha is the music director and Kerala State award winner Manesh Madhavan is handling the cinematography. The film is produced by Anto Joseph Film Company. Release date is expected to be announced soon.

Vijay-Vijay Sethupathi starrer ‘Master’ hit screens on Wednesday (January 13) amidst huge expectations. The film’s dubbed Telugu version also got released on the same day while the Hindi version is slated for release today (January 14). The film is getting largely positive reviews with critics rating it as a proper mass entertainer with equal importance to the two lead stars. Several celebs have also heaped praise on the film.

Ace filmmaker Mysskin tweeted,

Fahadh Faasil-Dileesh Pothan film Joji shoot wrapped up

We had earlier reported about the trio of Fahadh Faasil, director Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran teaming up for a new film titled ‘Joji’. After nearly a two-month long shoot, they have called it a wrap.

‘Joji’, as confirmed by the makers, is inspired from Willaim Shakespeare’s famous play, ‘Macbeth’. According to them, it is an independent adaptation that is set in the modern era. Fahadh Faasil had lost some weight for the film as his character demanded it. Along with him, the film also has Shammy Thilakan, Baburaj and Unnimaya Prasad playing major roles.

‘Joji’ has Shyju Khalid as the cinematographer. Music is by Justin Varghese of ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’ and ‘Thaneer Mathan Dhinangal’ fame. Editor Kiran Das, costume designer Mashar Hamsa, production designer Gokul Das and make up artist Ronex Xavier form the core technical crew.

The film is backed by Dileesh Pothan-Syam Pushkaran duo’s production company, Working Class along with Fahadh’s banner, Fahadh Faasil And Friends.
