The recently released Vijay-Vijay Sethupathi starrer ‘Master’ is set to be remade in Hindi. The film’s rights have been sold to Endemol Shine India, Murad Khetani of Cine1 Studios and 7 Screen Studio for a huge amount. Leading trade analyst has confirmed the same by tweeting,

Meanwhile, there is a buzz in social medias that Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi will be starring in the Hindi version of ‘Master’. Though the makers have not confirmed it yet, fans are highly excited about the news. Another section of netizens feel that Hindi actors like Manoj Bajpai or Nawazuddin Siddiqui would be perfect to reprise the villain role, played by Sethupathi.

‘Master’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is an action-packed mass entertainer. The film’s USP is the clash between the two top stars, Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi. Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha director Nissam Basheer’s next is with Mammootty

Mammootty, who is known for working with young, promising filmmakers, has committed a film with Nissam Basheer of ‘Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha’ fame. It is scripted by Sameer Abdul, who has earlier penned Asif Ali’s ‘Ibilis’ and ‘Adventures of Omanakuttan’. Production controller Badusha and Wonder House Cinemas will be producing the film.

Nissam Basheer’s debut film ‘Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha’ was a successful film that dealt with the highly relevant theme of marital rape. The film was well received and it was recently selected in the ‘Indian Panorama’ section at the Indian Film Festival, Goa. It will be very interesting to see what kind of film the young director makes with Mammootty. More details regarding the genre, crew members and when shoot begins are not yet known.

Mammootty, meanwhile, is set to return back to sets after a 10-month long break. His new film with director Amal Neerad is set to go on floors later this month. He also has 2 days of shoot left for his political film ‘One’, directed by Santhosh Viswanath. The star has also signed for films with debutant Ratheena Sharshad and Ranjith. The long awaited ‘CBI 5’ is likely to begin in May.

Chiru 153: Nayanthara to star in Lucifer Telugu remake

Mohanlal’s blockbuster Malayalam film ‘Lucifer’ is getting remade in Telugu with Chiranjeevi playing the lead role. Mohan Raja of ‘Thani Oruvan’ fame is directing the film, which has been tentatively titled as ‘Chiru 153’. Casting and other pre-production works are currently underway.

It is learnt that the makers have roped in Nayanthara to play the female lead’s role. She will be seen playing the character essayed by Manju Warrier in the original. Though there were names like Suhasini and Priya Mani doing the rounds initially, the makers felt that the character demanded an actor of the stature of Nayanthara. She has already given her nod and will soon be signing the dotted lines.

Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan had acquired the remake rights of ‘Lucifer’ right after its release. Since Mohan Rajan is known for successfully remaking several blockbuster films, expectations will be on the higher side. The Telugu version is expected to have a few changes from the original.

Ottakkomban set to begin soon, informs Tomichan Mulakuppadam

Suresh Gopi’s 250th film titled ‘Ottakkomban’ is gearing up to go on floors. It will be directed by debutant Mathew Thomas and produced by Tomichan Mulakkupadam. Last day, the latter took to his social media handle to share a photo taken with Suresh Gopi and Mathew Thomas. With a brief note, he also informed that shoot will be beginning shortly. He has written,

On this occasion when theaters are open and the Industry gets its breath back, I am happy to announce that my dream project ‘Ottakkomban’ starring superstar Suresh Gopi is all set to begin. By God’s grace, the film will start rolling soon.

The project, which was initially tentatively titled as ‘SG 250’, was first in the news when the makers of Prithviraj starrer ‘Kaduva’ filed a court against them alleging that there were similarities between both the films. The lead characters in both the films were named as Kaduvakunnel kuruvachan. The Kerala high court then ordered a stay on the shoot and promotional activities of Suresh Gopi’s film. It is learnt that they have reworked the script now.

Pa Ranjith, who is one of the most distinctive political voices in Tamil cinema, is trying to showcase the boxing clubs culture of North Madras during the 70s and 80s. The story majorly revolves around the long-lasting rivalry between two groups. The cast also includes Kalaiayarasan, Dushara, ‘Game Over’ fame Sanchana Natarajan, John Vijay, Pasupathi and Santhosh Prathap

On the technical front, cinematographer Murali G and music director Santhosh Narayanan, both of whom are regulars in Pa Ranjith’s films, have been retained. Stunt master duo AnbuAriv have handled the action choreography. Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions is backing the film along with K9 Studios.

Meanwhile, talks have emerged about the film getting remade in Hindi.

Bollywood medias like Pinkvilla and Koimoi have reported that remake rights of ‘Master’ have been sold to ‘Kabir Singh’ producer Murad Khetani and Endemol Shine. It is reported that the rights have been bagged for a hefty price. Apparently, the makers are trying to rope in two big stars, just like the original, to play the lead roles. A confirmation regarding the remake is still awaited.

Salaar: KGF director Prashanth Neel’s next with Prabhas launched

After the humongous success of ‘KGF: Chapter 1’, Hombale Films and director Prashanth Neel are teaming up for another mega-budget film titled ‘Salaar’. ‘Baahubali’ star Prabhas plays the lead role in the film. The project got launched today (January 15) with a customary pooja ceremony. Prabhas, ‘KGF’ star Yash and many others were present for the launch held at Hyderabad.

Last December, the makers announced ‘Salaar’ by releasing a first look poster that had an intense-looking Prabhas with a gun in his hand. From the tagline, ‘The most violent men.. called one man.. the most violent’, it was evident that it will be a full-on action flick. It has also been confirmed that ‘Salaar’, similar to ‘KGF’ and ‘Baahubali’, will be a pan-Indian film with a multi-lingual release.

Master makers share Pongal celebration video

Vijay-Vijay Sethupathi starrer ‘Master’ got released on January 13 and the film has taken an excellent opening despite the pandemic situation. Considering the Pongal season, the film is expected to attract more crowd this weekend. Meanwhile, the makers have shared a video of their Pongal celebrations on sets last year. The entire crew including Vijay, director Lokesh and lead actress Malavika Mohanan are all seen wearing traditional attire for the holy occasion.

‘Master’ is an action-packed entertainer that has Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi locking horns. While Vijay plays a professor named John Durairaj aka JD Vijay Sethupathi essays the role of a ruthless gangster named Bhavani. It is the clash between these two main characters that take the film forward. Both the actors have delivered excellent performances, with Vijay Sethupathi gaining unanimous appreciation. Another best thing about the film is Anirudh’s chartbuster music.

Operation Java release date announced

As theatres have resumed functioning with 50% occupancy, release dates of new Malayalam films are being announced. The makers of ‘Operation Java’ have informed that the film will be hitting screens on February 12. They have not yet divulged any other details regarding the film, including its genre. From the first look poster, which comes with the tagline, ‘Stories of Unsung Heroes’, it looks like a cop flick.

The film is written and directed by debutant Tharun Moorthy. Vinayakan, Balu Varghese, Irshad, Binu Pappu, Sudhi Koppa, Deepak Vijayan, Lukman, P Balachandran, Dhanya Ananya, Mamitha Baiju, Parvathy Nena Mouli and Prashanth Alexander play the major roles. On the technical front, the film has cinematography by Faiz Siddik, who has also cranked camera for the upcoming films ‘Aanaparambile World Cup’ and ‘Adi’. Nishadh Yusuf is handling the edits and Jakes Bejoy has been trusted with the music department. Sound designers Vishnu Govind and Sree Sankar (Sound Factory), costume designer Manjusha Radhakrishnan and art director Dhundhu Renjeev Radha are also part of the crew.

V Cinemas, the banner that earlier backed the Tovino-starrer ‘Oru Kuprasidha Payyan’, is producing this film as well. Sree Priya Combines will be presenting the film.
