Biju Menon-Parvathy-Sharafudheen starrer wrapped up; Release date announced

As reported by us earlier, Biju Menon, Parvathy and Sharafudheen are playing the lead roles in cinematographer Sanu John Varughese’s directorial debut. After around a month-long shoot, the makers have called it a wrap. It has also been officially announced that the film will be releasing in theatres on February 4, 2021.

This yet-to-be titled film has Parvathy and Sharafudheen playing a married couple. The story set during the pandemic time is about a couple who travel from Mumbai to Kerala just before the nationwide lockdown is announced. Biju Menon essays a character who the couple encounter during their journey. Saiju Kurup and Arya Salim are also essaying crucial roles in the film.

The film’s technical department comprises of G Srinivas Reddy as the cinematographer and Neha Nair- Yakzan Gary Pereira duo as the composers. Filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan has been assigned as the editor. The film is being produced jointly by Aashiq Abu’s OPM Dream Mill and Santhosh T Kuruvilla’s Moonshot Entertainment.

Mohanlal’s Aarattu starts rolling today!

Superstar Mohanlal’s new film ‘Aarattu’ with director B Unnikrishnan goes on floors today. Udhayakrishna is scripting the film, which is basically a mass-masala entertainer set in a rural backdrop. The makers are planning a widely appealing film with action, comedy and all essential commercial ingredients in it.

‘Aarattu’ is Mohanlal’s fifth film with B Unnikrishnan after ‘Madambi, ‘Grandmaster’, ‘Mr Fraud’ and ‘Villain’. The star is also teaming up with scribe Udhayakrishna after the mega blockbuster ‘Pulimurugan’. Fans are pinning high hopes on the film as they expect to see a high voltage mass entertainer with Mohanlal in full form.

Mohanlal will be seen playing a larger-than-life character named Neyyattinkara Gopan in ‘Aarattu’. Shraddha Srinath of ‘Vikram Vedha’ fame has been signed as the female lead. She has been cast in an IAS officer’s role in the film. The supporting cast includes Sai Kumar, Siddique, Nedumudi Venu, Indrans Vijayaraghavan, Swasika, Neha Saxena, Rachana Narayanankutty and Sheela. Vijay Ulaganath is the cinematographer and edits will be handled by Shameer Muhammed. Rahul Raj is the music director. He has already started composing for the film.

Working with Mammukka is a joy every time: Sudev Nair

Sudev Nair shot to fame with his State Award winning performance in ‘My Life Partner’. He followed it up with notable roles in films like ‘Anarkali’, ‘Karinkunnam 6’S’, ‘Ezra’, ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’ and the Hindi film ‘India’s Most Wanted’. Sudev will be next seen in an important role in the Mammootty starrer ‘One’. It is his third film with the megastar after ‘Abrahaminte Santhathikal’ and ‘Mamangam’.

In ‘One’, Sudev’s character comes at a crucial point and triggers a big twist in the plot. In a recent interview with TOI, when asked about working with Mammootty, Sudev said, it is a joy working with him every time. Thanks to his vast experience, the veteran makes it easier for the co-stars.

‘One’ is directed by ‘Chirakodinja Kinavukal’ fame Santhosh Viswanath. Bobby and Sanjay have scripted the film that has Mammootty playing the lead role of Kerala Chief Minister Kadakkal Chandran. It is a political thriller inspired from certain real life incidents. The film with a huge supporting cast comprising of actors like Joju George, Murali Gopy, Nimisha Sajayan, Suresh Krishna, Shanker Ramakrishnan, Alencier Ley Lopez, Mammukoya, Siddique, Balachandra Menon, Salim Kumar, Madhu, Ranjith, Mathew Thomas, Ishaani Krishna, Gayathri Arun and many others.

Vijay Babu teams up with Kammarasambhavam duo!

We had earlier reported about the ‘Kammarasambhavam’ combo of Murali Gopy and Rathish Ambat reuniting for a new film. Murali is scripting the film and Rathish Ambat will be directing it. The two are also jointly producing the film along with Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House. Murali has shared a selfie of the three, which is probably taken during one of their discussion sessions, in his social media handle. He also informed that the film will go on floors in February.

Murali Gopy has written,

Joining hands with Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House for my first production venture, with Rathish Ambat as a partner. Written by yours truly and directed by Rathish Ambat, the movie would go on floors, by Feb 2021. Watch this space for the title poster release on Jan 2, 2021.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Prithviraj will be playing the lead role in the film. It is said to be an action flick, that will be different from the regular mass entertainers. A formal announcement with full details regarding the cast and crew is expected to be out on January 2.

After the lukewarm response to the first look poster, the makers of Simbu’s new film ‘Maanadu’ released another poster last evening. As it happens most often, the second poster has grabbed more eyeballs than the first one. Simbu in his new lean physique with a peculiar beard style is the center of attraction.

‘Maanadau’ is a political thriller written and directed by Venkat Prabhu. The film has Simbu playing a Muslim character named Adbul Khaaliq in the film. Kalyani Priyadrashan plays the female lead. SJ Suryah, Bharathiraja, and Manoj Bharathi will also be seen in important roles. On the technical front, Richard M Nathan is the cinematographer and Praveen KL, the editor. Venkat Prabhu’s frequent collaborator Yuvan Shankar Raja has been retained as the composer.

‘Maanadu’ was announced over a year back. Last August, due to Simbu’s unavailability, the makers were even forced to remove him from the project. Later, after holding talks with his family and the involvement of various other industry veterans, Simbu rejoined the team. After going through a stunning physcial transformation, the actor recently resumed shooting for his portions.

Ajith injured while shooting for Valimai; To take a month-long break!

Thala Ajith has been injured while shooting for his new film ‘Valimai’ in Hyderabad. It is reported that the star is returning back to Chennai and has decided to take an one month-long break. This is not the first time Ajith has suffered an injury on sets. Earlier this year in February, while shooting for bike chase sequence, and the actor suffered minor bruises.

‘Valimai’ is written and directed by H Vinoth of ‘Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru’ fame. This is his second successive film with Ajith after the success of ‘Nerkonda Paaravai’. ‘Valimai’ is said to be a cop-action thriller made on a lavish budget. It is said to be Ajith’s first pan-Indian film with a Hindi release as well.

Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi has been roped in as the female lead. Telugu actor Karthikeya Gummakonda will be seen as the antagonist in the film. ‘Valimai’ has Yuvan Shankar Raja as the music director and Nirav Shah as the cinematographer.

Nayanthara celebrated her 36th birthday last Wednesday (November 18). Wishes poured in for the actress from fans, general cinema audience and fellow celebs. She also had a birthday party at home, which she celebrated along with her boyfriend Vignesh Shivan and family.

The makers of her new Malayalam film ‘Nizhal’ also organized a brief cake cutting ceremony on sets. The other lead actor Kunchacko Boban was also present along with the crew members. Earlier on her birthday, the makers have released a special poster featuring her. The big Ms, Mohanlal and Mammootty shared the poster through their respective social media handles.

‘Nizhal’ marks the directorial debut of editor-turned-filmmaker Appu N Bhattathiri. It is scripted by debutant S Sanjeev. Nothing much is known about the film, which includes its genre. Kunchacko Boban plays the role of First Class Judicial Magistrate John Baby in the film. Details about Nayanthara’s character have not yet been revealed.

‘Lal Singh Chaddha’, Aamir Khan’s Hindi version of the English classic ‘Forrest Gump’, has been in the making for over a year. The film was originally planned as a Christmas 2020 release and everything was on track with swift progress in shoot. But due to the pandemic, shoot had to be put on hold for around six months, which forced a change in release plans. The film has now been pushed to December 2021. Shoot is now progressing at a brisk pace.

It is learnt that the makers of ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ have got Shah Rukh Khan to play a cameo role in the film. If reports are to believed, the star will be appearing as the character Raj Malhotra from his iconic film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ (DDLJ). He had shot for his portions in Delhi last month. It is worth a mention that Shah Rukh and Aamir have shared screen space only once before — 27 years back in Ashtoush Gowraiker’s debut film ‘Pehla Nasha’.

As per a report in Mirror, the screenplay of ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ weaves in iconic moments from each decade and Aamir’s character Chaddha would be encountering top film stars during his journey of self-discovery. Shah Rukh’s scenes appear when Chaddha lands on the sets of ‘DDLJ’ and have a fun-filled interaction. Since the year is 1995, SRK will look like a younger version of himself with the help of prosthetics and VFX. The makers are also trying to rope in Salman Khan, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ is directed by Advait Chandan of ‘Secret Superstar’ fame. Veteran actor Atul Kulkarni has scripted the film. Kareena Kapoor plays the female lead and Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi is also said to be playing an important role.

As reported by us recently, Malayali actress Nazriya is making her debut in Telugu cinema. She has signed a musical rom-com that also stars Nani in the lead. The makers have unveiled the title with a curtain raiser video. Titled as ‘Ante Sundaraniki’, the film is written and directed by Vivek Athreya of ‘Mental Madhilo’ and ‘Brochevarevarura’ fame. Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar Y are jointly producing the film under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers.

On the technical front, Vivek Sagar is the music director and Niketh Bommi of ‘Soorarai Pottru’ fame is the DOP. Editor Raviteja Girijala, production designer Latha Tharun and sound designer Varun Venugopal are also part of the technical crew.

Ever since getting married to Fahadh Faasil in 2014, Nazriya has been very choosy with her films. Despite her popularity in the South, the actress has not signed a Telugu film till now. So it will be very interesting to see what prompted her to take up Vivek Athreya’s film.
Her chemistry with Nani will also be something exciting to look forward to.

Sreenath Bhasi signs a new film titled Mutham Nooruvidham; Makers release a ravishing title teaser!

Sreenath Bhasi is teaming up with director Gireesh Mano for a new film titled ‘Mutham Nooruvidham’. Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran officially announced the project last day through his social media handle. The makers have also released a very interesting title teaser which features various kinds of kissing — ranging from a woman kissing her pet cat to two men kissing passionately. It is an unusually stylish teaser for a Malayalam film and has already managed to grab eyeballs. Lakshmi Marikar, a former assistant to Aashiq Abu in ‘Virus’, has directed the teaser. Neeraj Ravi has shot the visuals and it is edited by Sangeeth Prathap.

‘Mutham Nooruvidham’ is director Gireesh Mano’s third film after ‘Nee Ko Njaa Chaa’ and ‘Lava Kusha’. The filmamker himself has penned the script and it will be produced by Sky Films. Dani Raymond has been signed as the cinematographer and music department will be handled by Munna PM.
