Poornima Indrajith set to act in an English-Hindi film Cobalt Blue

Malayalam actress Poornima Indrajith is expanding her wings as she is set to star in a Hindi-English bilingual film titled ‘Cobalt Blue’. The film is helmed by popular playwright, author and filmmaker Sachin Kundalkar. It is based on his 2006-released Marathi novel of the same name. Later, an English version, translated by Jerry Pinto, got released in 2013.

‘Cobalt Blue’ tells the story of two sisters in a house. It is a triangular love story with the sisters falling in love with a man who arrives at their house as a paying guest. Prateik Babbar, Anjali Shivaraman, Geetanjalin Kulkarni and Neelay are also part of the film’s cast. Italian cinematographer Vincenzo Condorelli will be handling the camera. Open Air Films is producing the film for streaming giant Netflix

After her marriage with actor Indrajith, Poornima had taken a long break from films. She then took up fashion designing and currently owns a popular boutique. Aashiq Abu’s multi-starrer film ‘Virus’ marked her comeback to acting. She is also part of Rajeev Ravi’s upcoming film ‘Thuramukham’, co-starring Nivin Pauly, Nimisha, Indrajith and Joju George.

Parvathy is currently busy acting in cinematographer Sanu John Varughese’s directorial debut. Shoot is progressing at a brisk pace in Pala. The ‘Uyare’ actress has shared a few stills from the location in her social media handle. This yet-to-be titled film has her acting alongside Biju Menon and Sharafudheen.

We hear that Parvathy and Sharafudheen are playing a married couple in the film. The story set during the pandemic phase is about a couple who travel from Mumbai to Kerala just before the nationwide lockdown is announced. Biju Menon essays a character who the couple encounter during their journey. Saiju Kurup and Arya Salim are also essaying crucial roles.

Srinivas R Gutha is the cinematographer and music department is handled by Neha Nair- Yakzan Gary Pereira duo. Mahesh Narayanan has been assigned as the editor. The film is being produced by Aashiq Abu’s OPM Dream Mill and Santhosh T Kuruvilla’s Moonshot Entertainment.

Tamil Nadu based cricketer Varun Chakravarthy, who represented Kolkata Knight Riders, was among the most promising bowlers in this year’s IPL season. A mystery spinner, Varun made the best of the most of the old tracks of UAE. His spectacular performance even earned him a spot in the Indian T20 team for the upcoming Australian series but an unfortunate injury has forced him to opt out.

But on the brighter side, Varun has fulfilled his long time dream of meeting his matinee idol, Vijay. Last day, he shared photos taken with the Tamil superstar in his social media handle. It was during the IPL that fans spotted a Vijay tattoo in Varun’s season arm. Later, during one of the interviews, the cricketer openly talked about his admiration for Vijay and his wish to meet him some day. Finally, his dream came true as he got to spend some quality time with the ‘Master’ actor.

Unlike most cricketers, Varun had a dramatic journey in the world of cricket. He was rejected multiple times in age-group cricket. After completing his graduation in architecture, he worked as a freelancer. He made his List A debut in the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy and became the leading wicket-taker for Tamil Nadu with 22 dismissals in 9 matches. He then made his first class debut in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season.

Varun first grabbed attention with his stellar performance in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). Subsequently, in the 2019 auctions, he was picked up by Kings XI Punjab for a massive amount of Rs.8.40 crore. However, he had a forgettable maiden edition as he featured in just one game and was sidelined for the rest of the tournament due to a finger fracture. With his excellent performance this season, the 29-year-old has high chances of making it to the Indian team soon.

Shoot for Unni Mukundan’s new film ‘Meppadiyaan’ is currently progressing at Erattupetta. Written and directed by debutant Vishnu Mohan, the film is touted to be a complete family entertainer. Actor Aju Varghese joined the sets recently. He essays a character named Thadathil Xavier and he is sporting a stylish bearded look for it. His new look has grabbed attention in social medias.

‘Meppadiyan’ has an elaborate set of actors. Anju Kurian plays the female lead. Indrans, Saiju Kurup, Aju Varghese, Vijay Babu, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Aparna Janardhanan, Nisha Sarang, Kundara Johny, Major Ravi, Sreejith Ravi, Kottayam Ramesh, Pauly Valsan, Kishna Prasad, Manohari Amma and many others are part of the supporting cast.

Aju meanwhile has ‘Saajan Bakery Since 1962’ and ‘Article 21’ eyeing release once theatres resume functioning. Both the films have him playing central characters. He is also producing two other films — ‘9MM’ that stars Manju Warrier, Sunny Wayne, Dhyan Sreenivasan and Dileesh Pothan, and ‘Prakasham Parakatte’ starring Mathew Thomas, Dhyan, Saiju Kurup and Dileesh Pothan.

As reported by us earlier, Nayanthara and Kunchacko Boban are teaming up for a new film titled ‘Nizhal’. Editor-turned-filmmaker Appu N Bhattathiri is making his directorial debut with this film. As it is Nayanthara’s birthday today, the makers have released a special poster featuring her. Superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty have shared the poster through their respective social media handles.

‘Nizhal’ want on floors last month with Kunchacko Boban joining the team first. The film marks the first time coming together of Kunchacko Boban and Nayanthara. The former plays the role of First Class Judicial Magistrate John Baby in the film. Details about Nayanthara’s character are not yet known.

Actress Nayanthara is celebrating her birthday today. On this special occasion, the makers of her upcoming film ‘Netrikann’ have released a new poster and teaser. The film directed by Milind Rau of ‘Aval’ fame promises to be a crime thriller. From the teaser, we can make out that Nayanthara’s character is a blind persons. She seems to be on the hunt for a criminal who tortures women.

‘Netrikann’ is said to be the official remake of ‘Blind’, a popular Korean thriller film. It is about a talented woman cadet at the police academy who loses her eye sight after a horrific car accident. Years later, she solves a murder case with the help of her trained dog and her strong skills in detecting senses.

It is a very challenging role for Nayanthara as she is playing a blind character for the first time in her career. It will be interesting to see how she pulls it off. The cast akso includes Ajmal, Manikandan and Saran. The film has cinematography by RD Rajasekhar, music by Girishh Gopalakrishnan and edits by Lawrence Kishore. Nayanthara’s boyfriend and filmmaker Vignesh Shivan is producing the film under the banner of Rowdy Pictures Pvt Ltd.

Suriya’s latest release ‘Soorarai Pottru’ continues to find new admirers. Ever since its release in Amazon Prime last week, the film has been getting excellent response from all sections of the audience. Many celebs have also openly praised the team behind it. Most recent is Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda. In his Twitter handle, the ‘Arjun Reddy’ actor wrote about how thrilled he was while watching the story of an outsider making a statement. He has written,

Watched it with a big gang of friends, all boys, 3 of them cried, I was just raging through the film and fired up to see the outsider make his statement ? and a statement was made!

About the performances, Deverakonda particularly mentioned the terrific acts by both the lead actors — Suriya and Aparna Balamurali.

12 years after the release of the National award winning film ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, Suriya and director Gautham Menon are coming together once again. It is for a segment in the upcoming anthology ‘Navarasa’ that will be streaming in Netflix. Shoot has started and PC Sreeram is cranking the camera. The veteran has tweeted,

It is worth a mention that PC Sreeram was also the DOP in Gautham Menon’s most recent work ‘Avarum Naanum/Avalum Naanum’, a short film in Amazon Prime’s anthology ‘Putham Pudhu Kaalai’.

‘Navarasa’ is an ambitious project that is being made for the welfare of the Tamil film industry members whose livelihood got severely hit by the pandemic. Several big names are collaborating for this project, which is a compilation of 9 films. Gautham Menon, Karthik Subbaraj, Karthick Naren, KV Anand, Ponram, Rathindran Prasad, Arvind Swami, Bejoy Nambiar and Halitha Shameem are directing a segment each.

The anthology is said to be based on Navarasas, the 9 human emotions, and each film will be based on one particular emotion. Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Revathy, Nithya Menen, Parvathy Thiruvoth, Siddharth, Aishwarya Rajesh, Poorna, Rythvika, Prakash Raj, Gautham Karthik, Bonny Simha, Vikranth, Ashok Selvan and many others are part of the cast. All of them are contributing towards the film without remuneration, with only the costs of production being associated.

In Gautham Menon’s film, Suriya will be seen sporting a new look. During the lockdown days, he hadn’t cut his hair and let it grow loose. Impressed by the look, the director had asked Suriya to retain it for the film. More details are awaited.

Joju George is a busy actor these days with a handful of projects coming up. He already has ‘Churuli’, ‘Naayaattu’ and his maiden Tamil film ‘Jagame Thandhiram’ lined up for release. He had also recently finished shooting for ‘Star’ directed by Domin D’Silva. Joju has next signed a film titled ‘Peace’. Debutant Sanfeer K is directing the film, which went on floors last day in Thodupuzha. It is produced by Script Doctor Pictures.

Along with Joju, the cast also includes Aditi Ravi, Lena, Siddique, Shalu Rahim, Asha Sarath, Vijileesh and many others. ‘Peace’ is scripted by Safar Sanal and Ramesh Girija. Details regarding the film’s genre is not yet known. Gibran Shameer is cranking the camera and Noufal Abdullah will be handling the edits. Jubair Muhammed has been signed as the music director. Badusha is the production designer, Prathapan Kalliyoor is the production controller and Sreejith Odakkali handles the art department.
