Nivin Pauly’s Kanakam Kamini Kalaham launched

Nivin Pauly’s new film ‘Kanakam Kamini Kalaham’ got launched today with a pooja function. The film is written and directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval of ‘Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25’ fame. Nivin’s own production house Pauly Jr Pictures is backing the film.

According to director Ratheesh, ‘Kanakam Kamini Kalaham’ is a family drama that also has dark humour and satirical elements. Like his debut film ‘Android Kunjappan’, this is also a movie about ordinary people and their lives. The makers have planned to shoot the film completely in Ernakulam.

Grace Antony has been signed as the female lead. Vinay Forrt is also there in an important role. Joy Mathew, ‘Vikruthi’ fame Vincy Aloshious, Jaffer Idukki, Sivadas Kannur, Rajesh Madhavan and many others are part of the cast.

Nivin Pauly also has a few other projects coming up. He has signed an action flick titled ‘Gangster of Mundanmala’. It is scripted by debutant Aneesh Rajasekharan and will be directed by newbie Ronnie Manuel Joseph. Nivin himself is producing the film along with Ravi Mathew Productions.

‘Bismi Special’ is another project in the pipeline. Newcomer Rajesh Ravi is directing the film. He has co-cripted the film along with two other scenarists, Rahul Ramesh and Sanu Majeed. Sophia Paul of Weekend Blockbusters is producing it. The film reunites the ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’ pair of Nivin and Aishwarya Lekshmi.

Nivin still has a few portions left to be shot for ‘Padavettu’. His much-hyped ‘Thuramukham’ is awaiting theatre release.

Salman Khan to play a cameo role in Pathan?

It is almost confirmed that Shah Rukh Khan’s next film will be with director Siddharth Anand. Speculated to be titled as ‘Pathan’, it is an action-packed entertainer that will also have John Abraham in a major role. Deepika Padukone is said to be cast as the female lead.

Latest buzz is that Salman Khan will be appearing in a cameo role in the film. It must be noted that this is not the first time Salman is doing a guest appearance in Shah Rukh’s film. The two were last seen together in ‘Zero’, which was also SRK’s last release.

As per reports, ‘Pathan’ is planned on the lines of Sidharth Anand’s last film ‘War’. The Hrithik Roshan-Tiger Shroff starrer was a massive blockbuster at the box office. Apparently, the makers are planning a similar action-packed flick in which SRK and John Abraham will be seen locking horns. The film will be produced by Yash Raj Films.

Official announcement is expected to be made soon.

Vijay Sethupathi’s new Malayalam film ’19 (1)(a)’ was launched recently with a customary pooja and switch on ceremony. The star has joined the sets and the makers have shared photos of the same in social medias. Clad in a mundu and blue shirt, Sethupathi does look like an average Keralite. It is not yet known if he plays a Malayali character in the film. In his debut Malayalam film ‘Marconi Mathai’, he appeared as himself in an extended cameo role.

’19 (1)(a)’ is written and directed by debutant Indu VS. The film has Nithya Menen as the female lead. Indrajith Sukumaran and veteran Indrans will be seen in other pivotal roles. As per the makers, the film has a pan-Indian subject that demands strong performers like Vijay Sethupathi, Nithya Menen and Indrajith. On the technical side, Govind Vasantha is the music director and State award winner Manesh Madhavan is handling the cinematography. The film is backed by Anto Joseph Film Company.

Dulquer Salmaan resumes shooting for Hey Sinamika

After almost a 7-month long break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Dulquer Salmaan has finally got back to work. The actor has resumed shooting for his Tamil film, ‘Hey Sinamika’, which marks the directorial debut of popular dance choreographer Brindha Gopal. The makers had originally started shooting in March this year but were forced to be on a break due to the virus outbreak.

‘Hey Sinamika’ is said to be a rom-com entertainer. Kajal Aggarwal and Aditi Rao Hydari will be seen as the female leads. Since this is the first time that the three lead actors – Dulquer, Kajal and Aditi – will be sharing screen space with each other, it will be interesting to see their on-screen rapport.

On the technical front, Govind Vasantha of ’96’ fame is in charge of the music department and cinematography is being handled by Preetha Jayaraman. Jio Studios is producing the film, which is also their maiden production venture in Tamil. The team is planning to wrap up the entire shoot by December.

Malayalam filmmaker Omar Lulu has had a golden opportunity to witness the IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Sharjah cricket stadium. The director was invited and hosted by Khalaf Bukhatir, Managing Director of Bukhatir Group and CEO of Sharjah cricket stadium.

Due to the pandemic, the IPL tournament this year is conducted following several restrictions. All the games are being played without the presence of audience. Omar Lulu is among the very few people to have got an invitation to watch the game live from the stadium. The director has photos and videos from his visit in his social media handle. He also expressed his gratitude to Khalaf Bukhathir for the invitation.

On the work front, Omar Lulu is gearing up to start the shoot of his much hyped action film ‘Powerstar’. Babu Antony plays the lead role in the film and it is scripted by veteran Dennis Joseph. Riyas Khan, Baburaj and several others are part of the cast. Omar had also recently finished shooting for his maiden hindi music album, which is backed by T-Series. It is expected to be out soon.

Eeswaran first look poster out; Simbu stuns with his makeover!

The title and first look poster of Simbu’s upcoming film with director Suseenthiran has been unveiled. Titled as ‘Eeswaran’, the film has a lean and fit Simbu as the lead. The actor seems to have shed a good amount of weight. For the last few months, the actor was in Kerala for a weight loss program along with learning Kalarippayattu.

In the first look poster of ‘Eeswaran’, Silambu is seen holding a snake around his neck. A motion poster has also been released in which he is seen holding a cricket bat. Niddhi Aggarwal is paired with Simbu in the film. Veteran Bharathiraja will be seen essaying an important role. The film also has a solid technical crew. Thaman is composing the music and Tirru is handling the cinematography.

Madhav Media and D Company are jointly producing the film. The makers have announced that the film will be a Pongal 2021 release.

The multi-faceted Dhyan Sreenivasan is scripting Manju Warrier’s 50th film. Titled as ‘9 MM’, it will be directed by debutant Dhinil Babu. Along with Manju, the cast also includes Dhyan, Sunny Wayne and Dileesh Pothan. Fantastic Films, owned by Aju Varghese and Vishak Subramaniam, is producing the film. It must be remembered that the banner’s last film, ‘Love Action Drama’, marked the directorial debut of Dhyan.

Announcing ‘9 MM’, Aju Varghese wrote on his social media handle,

The core technical team ‘9 MM’ is mostly from outside Malayalam industry. Vetri Palanisamy, who has cranked the camera for Ajith’s films like Viswasam’, ‘Vedhalam’ and ‘Vivegam’, is making his Malayalam debut with this film. Sam CS of ‘Vikram Vedha’ fame is the music director. Yannik Ben, who has worked in various Bollywood and Hollywood films, has been roped in as the action director.

Today, on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadhashami, Unni Mukundan’s new film ‘Meppadiyaan’ has started rolling. It is written and directed by debutant Vishnu Mohan. The film is touted to be a complete family entertainer. Indrans, Saiju Kurup, Aju Varghese, Anju Kurian, Vijay Babu, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Aparna Janardhanan, Nisha Sarang, Kundara Johny, Major Ravi, Sreejith Ravi, Kottayam Ramesh, Pauly Valsan, Kishna Prasad, Manohari Amma and many others are part of the supporting cast.

Unni Mukundan has pinned high hopes on ‘Meppadiyan’. The story is about how Jayakrishnan, a commoner, overcomes the unexpected turn of events in his life. The film will be shot extensively across Erattupetta and Pala. Neil D’Cunha is the cinematographer and Rahul Subramanian has been assigned as the music director. Shameer Muhammad is the editor and art department is handled by Sabu Mohan

Unni Mukundan is producing the film under his own banner of UMF. The makers are planning the film as a theatrical release.

After all the speculations, it has finally been confirmed that Suriya’s next film will be directed by Pandiraj. Production giant Sun Pictures is backing the project, which has been tentatively titled as ‘Suriya 40’. Pandiraj is a National award winner known for helming hit films like ‘Pasanga’, ‘Kadaikutty Singam’ and ‘Namma Veettu Pillai’. Suriya had earlier collaborated with the director in ‘Pasanga 2’. The star did an extended cameo role in it.

Though the makers are yet to confirm it, buzz is that Suriya will be playing a politician’s role in Pandiraj’s film. Last year, the actor had played a grey-shaded politician’s role in the Selvaraghavan directorial ‘NGK’. Unlike ‘NGK’, which was an abstract attempt, Pandiraj’s film is expected to be a proper commercial entertainer that appeals to all sections of the audience.

‘Suriya 40’ was supposed to do be directed by Hari next but that project seems to have been dropped as the star was not pleased with the script. Suriya has also committed for films with directors Vetrimaaran and Siva. His ambitious film ‘Soorarai Pottru’ is scheduled to premier in Amazon Prime during the Diwali weekend.

Soorarai Pottru trailer: Suriya’s Nedumaaran Rajangam is a man on a mission!

The much-awaited trailer of Suriya starrer ‘Soorarai Pottru’ has dropped in online. Just like the teaser and the other promo clips, the trailer is also super promising with Suriya appearing in fine form. He essays a character named Nedumaaran Rajangam, a common man hailing from Madurai who dreams of owning an aircraft business. The film is based on the life of GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan and Suriya fits in the role quite perfectly. Since the narrative is set in different timelines, the actor appears in multiple looks in the film.

‘Soorarai Pottru’ is directed by Sudha Kongara of ‘Irudhi Suttru’ fame. The film was scheduled to hit screens earlier this year during the summer holidays but due to the pandemic the makers were forced to release the film on Amazon Prime Video. While it was slated to have its world premier on October 30, even that got postponed as the makers could not obtain all the required NOCs from the Indian Airforce on time. They have now announced that the film will be out on November 12.
