Shafi reveals the reason behind Hallo Mayavi getting dropped

Few years back, director Shafi had announced an ambitious film titled ‘Hallo Mayavi’. Mohanlal’s character Sivaraman from ‘Hallo’ and Mammootty’s character Mahi from ‘Mayavi’ were supposed to be the lead characters in it. Rafi Mecartin had penned the script. A spin-off like that with the two superstars of Malayalam industry was a rarity and the project created quite a buzz during its announcement. However, it never materialized and everyone involved in it went ahead with other works.

In a recent interview, director Shafi revealed the reason behind ‘Hallo Mayavi’ getting dropped. According to him, both Mohanlal and Mammootty were equally impressed by the one-liner. But it was the stubbornness of some people within the industry that put an end to that project. Shafi still believes that it would have been a superhit film.

Likewise, Shafi also had plans to make a second part to ‘Mayavi’ but it didn’t work out. The director is currently planning to make a film based on Suraj Venjaramoodu’s character Dhashamoolam Damu from ‘Chattambinadu’. Benny P Nayarambalam is working on the screenplay. Shoot is expected to begin this year end.

6 million followers for Mohanlal in Twitter!

Superstar Mohanlal is one of the most active Malayali celebrities in social medias. He makes good use of the platform for promoting films — both featuring him and his colleagues and also sharing important socio-political information. He is also one of the very few actors from Malayalam to have an active Twitter handle. The superstar’s followers count has just reached a whopping figure of 6 million. Mahesh Babu (9.2M), Dhanush (9M) and Samantha (7.9M) are the only other actors from the South to have more number of followers.

As the nation is fighting valiantly to stop the spread of the Corona virus, Mohanlal has been doing his best to spread awareness through his social media handles. With such huge number or followers, an information shared through his handle can easily reach out to a large number of people.

Personally also Mohanlal has been doing his best to help the government. He had recently donated a sum of Rs 50 lakhs to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. Last day, he also took part in an video interaction session with doctors, nurses and other staff members who have been advised to stay in isolation for 14 days. Health Minister KK Shailaja thanked Mohanlal for spending time with them and boosting up their morale.
