Sobhita Dhulipala pens a note of gratitude after Kurup wrap up!

Dulquer Salmaan’s ambitious film ‘Kurup’ got wrapped up recently. The Srinath Rajendran directorial which is based on the life of Kerala’s infamous criminal, Sukumara Kurup. The team shoot for the film over multiple schedules in Kerala, various parts of North India, Mangalore and in Dubai. After wrapping up shoot, Bollywood actress Sobhita Dhulipala, who is playing a crucial role in the film penned a long note on her social media handle. According to her, it was a very intimate experience that caused a growth spurt in her, both emotionally as creatively.

Sobhita has written,

It’s a wrap on #Kurup, my first full-fledged Malayalam film that is eccentric and endearing at once.
As I type this, it occurs to me that this is the first ‘wrap post’ I’m documenting so I’ll just do it here online.
This film is special for it’s obvious reasons like the astute direction by happy hippie Srinath aided by prodigies Nimish, Benglan, Praveen, the most wonderful, buoyant co-actor Dulquer Salmaan and the rest of the lovely team (love you most Sweety Chechi). What makes my experience intimate is that it caused/coincided with – perhaps unknowingly, a growth spurt in me as much emotionally as creatively.
I have had distinct landmark moments in my life that have been character building. This is one such affair.
Immense beauty, learning and joy in my heart as we call it a wrap on #Kurup.
Cheers to cultural diversity,
cheers to the truth of imagination,
cheers to courage that stays consistent.

Sobhita made her acting debut in 2016 with the Anurag Kashyap film ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’. She later played notable roles in films like ‘Kaalakaandi’, ‘Chef’ and ‘Goodachari’. It was the Amazon Prime orginal series ‘Made In Heaven’ that established her as an actor with solid potential. ‘Kurup’ is actually Sobhita’s second Malayalam film. Her Malayalam debut was ‘Moothon’, in which she played the role of a sex worker.

‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ primarily revolves around the conflict between Ayyappan Nair, a soon-to-retire policeman and Koshy Kurian, a retired havildar. Though the plot might sound very thin, it is an intricately woven tale of revenge with a lot of important socio-political issues addressed.

Mysskin has now demanded Rs 40 crores more than the initially planned budget for the next schedule, which hasn’t gone down well with Vishal.

A recent discussion between the two ended in Mysskin opting out of ‘Thupparivalan 2’. It is being widely reported that Vishal will be directing the remaining portions of the film. When asked about the fallout over budget, Mysskin’s response to Times of India was hilariously sarcastic.

He is quoted saying, “No, I didn’t ask for 40 crores. I’ve asked 400 crores. I have finished 50 per cent of the film in 100 crore. I have asked for another 100 crores for the rest of the film. For the climax portion alone, which will feature a scene of Vishal jumping from a satellite, I want an additional 100 crores. So yes, I have asked for 400 crores.”
