Here’s Mohanlal, Trisha and Jeethu Joseph from the sets of Ram

Shoot for Jeethu Joseph directorial ‘Ram’ is progressing at a rapid pace. Mohanlal and popular South Indian actress Trisha play the lead roles in the film. A photo of Mohanlal, Trisha and Jeethu Joseph from the film’s sets is currently doing the rounds in social medias. Mohanlal is seen in a new hairstyle in the photo as opposed to the one who he was spotted sporting earlier. There are already talks among fans about the star appearing in two different looks in the film.

‘Ram’ is touted to be an action thriller made on a big scale. Trisha plays a doctor named Vineetha in the film. Indrajith Sukumaran, Durga Krishna, Chandhunath and Leona Lishoy are also part of the cast.

After the ongoing schedule in Kerala, the team of ‘Ram’ will be heading to foreign locations like Egypt, London and Istanbul. Ramesh R Pillai and Sudhan S Pillai are jointly producing the film under the banner of Abhishek Films.

Vijay Sethupathi to star in ‘C/O Saira Banu’ fame RJ Shaan’s directorial debut

Popular RJ Shaan, who made his debut as a scenarist with the Manju Warrier starrer ‘C/O Saira Banu’ is all set to turn a director. His debut film will have Tamil cinema’s Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. Last day, Shaan had shared a selfie taken with the ‘Vikram Vedha’ star in his social media handle. Along with that, he also hinted that shoot will begin this year itself.

Of late, Vijay Sethupathi has been very open to doing other language films and multi-starrers. He made his debut in Malayalam last year with the Jayaram starrer ‘Marconi Mathai’. For Shaan’s directorial debut, Manju Warrier and Biju Menon have also been approached to star alongside Vijay Sethupathi. Moreover, it is learnt that the film has been planned as a bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam.

If things turn out as per plans, the film will go on floors by April. A formal announcement is expected to be made after finalizing the remaining cast and crew.

96 Telugu remake: Watch Jaanu trailer here!

As we already know, Tamil blockbuster ’96’ is getting remade in Telugu as ‘Jaanu’. While Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha played the lead roles in the original, the remake stars Sharwanand and Samantha. C Prem Kumar, who directed ’96’, is helming the Telugu version as well. The official trailer of ‘Jaanu’ got released online last day. Just like the teaser, the trailer is almost exactly similar to the Tamil one with identical cuts.

From the trailer, ‘Jaanu’ looks like a scene by scene remake of ’96’. Since the story has an universal appeal, the Telugu version is also expected to do well. The film tells a poignant tale of two childhood sweethearts who get to meet after two decades for a school reunion.

Gouri G Kishan, who played Trisha’s younger version in the original, is reprising the same role. Similarly, the same technical team from ’96’ comprising of cinematographer Mahendiran Jayaraju, composer Govind Vasantha and editor Praveek KL have been retained.

Disco: Indrajith, Mukesh and Chemban Vinod to star in Lijo Jose Pellissery’s next

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s new film has been titled as ‘Disco’ and it will have Indrajith Sukumaran, Mukesh and Chemban Vinod Jose in the lead roles. S Hareesh, who co-scripted Lijo’s last film ‘Jallikattu’, is penning this one as well. The film will be shot extensively in Los Angeles. Hareesh has scripted the film with the famous Burning Man festival as the backdrop.

As per Wikipedia, Burning Man is an event held annually in the western United States at Black Rock City, a temporary city erected in the Black Rock Desert of northwest Nevada. It is a thriving year-round culture generated by a global community of participants. The event is an experiment in community and art, influenced by ten main principles: radical inclusion, radical self-reliance, radical self-expression, communal effort, civic responsibility, gifting, decommodification, participation, immediacy, and leave no trace.

More details regarding the supporting cast and crew of Lijo’s ‘Disco’ are expected to be announced soon. Shoot is scheduled to begin in August.

Official: Dhanush and Akshay Kumar team up for Atrangi Re

It has been a while since reports about Dhanush’s new Hindi film started emerging online. The actor is reuniting with director Aanand L Rai for a new film titled ‘Atrangi Re’. Along with Dhanush, the film also stars Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan in lead roles.

Director Aanand L Rai is well known for his films like ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu: Returns’ and ‘Zero’. It was also Rai who launched Dhanush in Bollywood with the 2013 hit flick ‘Raanjhanaa’. His new film ‘Atrangi Re’ is scripted by National award winner Himanshu Sharma.

‘Atrangi Re’ will have equal prominence to all the three lead actors – Sara Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar and Dhanush. Akshay Kumar is said to be playing a very challenging role in the film. Hrithik Roshan was the first choice for this role but he could not commit to the project as he had other commitments.

AR Rahman has been signed as the music director. T Series, Colour Yellow Productions and Cape of Good Films will be presenting the film. Shoot is scheduled to begin on March 1.

As ‘Mariyam Vannu Vilakkoodhi’ is all set for release this coming Friday (January 31), the makers have released a new song online. The track which has been conceived as a youth tribute song is composed by Prashanth Pillai.

‘Mariyam Vannu Vilakkoodhi’ is written and directed by debutant Jenith Kachappilly. The film stars the ‘Premam’ gang of Siju Wilson, Krishna Shankar, Shabareesh Varma and Althaf Salim in the lead roles. The film is said to be a complete fun entertainer, the story of which happens over a single night when a gang of friends get together. The supporting cast also includes Sethulakshmi, Basil Joseph, Sidhartha Siva, Shiyas, Baiju Santhosh and a forgein actress named Irene Mihalkovich.

The technical crew of ‘Mariyam Vannu Vilakkoodhi’ includes DOP Shinoj P Ayyappan, editor Appu Bhattathiri and art director Manu Jagadh. Newcomers Wazim-Murali have composed the music with additional songs by Prashanth Pillai. It is produced by ‘Ithihasa’ fame Rajesh Augustine in association with Captain Bipin Rajendran, Sunil Kumar Vakeel and Srijith Babu.

With just over two weeks left for release, the makers of ‘Trance’ have released the first video content. It is a song video featuring the lead pair Fahadh Faasil and Nazriya Nazim. Rex Vijayan’s brother Jackson Vijayan has composed the track. He has also lent his vocals along with Pradeep Kumar and Mohammed Maqbool Mansoor. Vinayak Sasikumar has penned the lyrics.

‘Trance’ has Fahadh playing a Kanyakumari based motivational trainer named Viju Prasad. The narrative is centred around his mental and emotional growth at different phases of his life. Anwar Rasheed is directing the film and is scripted by debutant Vincent Vadakkan.

Nazriya Nazim plays the female lead. Interestingly, this is the first time Fahadh and Nazriya are acting together after getting married in 2014. Nazriya plays a character named Esther Lopez. It is said to be a character that will be totally different from the bubbly roles that she is normally associated with.

Gautham Vasudev Menon, Soubin Shahir, Vinayakan, Chemban Vinod Jose, Dileesh Pothan, Sreenath Bhasi, Jinu Joseph, Joju George, Unnimaya, Arjun Ashokan, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Arushi Mudgal and Aswathi Menon are also part of the cast. Songs are set to tunes by Jackson Vijayan and Sushin Shyam has joined him in handling the background score.

After the completion of ‘Soorarai Pottru’, Suriya has committed for new projects with directors Hari, Vetrimaaran and Siva. Hari’s film is most likely to be the next to go on floors. The ‘Singam’ combo of Suriya and Hari have worked together multiple times in the past. However, it is heard that the two are planning to reunite next for a film out of the ‘Singam’ franchise. It will be a family entertainer with the regular dose of action and other commercial elements.

Latest buzz is that the makers are in talks with Malavika Mohanan to play the female lead. If she signs the film, it will be her third outing in Tamil. Malavika, who is the current internet sensation, made her K-Town debut with superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Petta’. She is also the heroine in the upcoming Vijay-Vijay Sethupathi starrer ‘Master’.

Official announcement regarding the Suriya-Hari film will be made very shortly. Kollywood’s leading production house Sun Pictures is said to be producing the film.

“Anjaam Pathira is mind blowing”, Vineeth Sreenivasan heaps prise on Midhun Manuel Thomas

‘Anjaam Pathiraa’ directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas continues to do well. The film that hit screens on January 10 has already emerged as a huge blockbuster. Critically also, the film has been well receive with the majority rating it as one of the finest crime thrillers made in Malayalam cinema in recent years.

Actor-filmmaker Vineeth Sreenivasan recently got to watch the film and wrote about it on his official social media handle. Vineeth had worked with Midhun Manuel in his debut film as a scenarist ‘Om Shanthi Oshana’, is glad to see the director’s growth. His Facebook post reads,

Anjaam Pathira is mind blowing.. kept me hooked on to it from the first scene to the last shot. Midhun Manuel Thomas, I am happy u started making the films that u spoke about, almost 7 years back when we met!! Churn out more thrillers.. I know u have a lot in ur pocket!!

‘Anjaam Pathiraa’ is a crime thriller centred around a series of killings of policemen. Kunchacko Boban plays the lead role of a criminologist. Unnimaya, Jinu Joseph, Harikrishnan, Jaffer Idukki, Sharafudheen, Divya Gopinath and Remya Nambeesan play the other key roles. DOP Shyju Khalid, composer Sushin Shyam and editor Saiju Sreedharan form the core technical team. It is produced by Aashiq Usman.

Gokul Suresh’s next is Karnan Napoleon Bhagat Singh; Here’s the title poster

The title poster of Gokul Suresh’s new film got unveiled last day. Titled as ‘Karnan Napoleon Bhagat Singh’, the film is written and directed by debutant Sarath G Mohan. Young star Antony Varghese launched the title poster through his official social media handle. He also wished the team luck. Monu Pazhedath is producing the film under the banner of First Page Entertainments. Shoot for the film kick-started in September last year.

However, nothing much is known regarding the film’s genre or details about the supporting cast. A bunch of newcomers were selected through audition for the film. On the technical front, Prasanth Krishna will be handling the cinematography and Ranjin Raj of ‘Joseph’ fame has been signed as the music director. Reckson Joseph is in charge of the edits. Costume designer Sameera Saneesh, make up artist Shaji Pulpally, art director Thyagu Thavanoor and many others are part of the crew.

Now that the title poster is out, official announcement regarding the release date is expected to be officially announced soon by the makers.
