First look poster of Siju Wilson starrer Varayan is here!

The first look poster of Siju Wilson’s new film ‘Varayan’ has been released online. Lady superstar Manju Warrier shared the poster through her official social media handle just a while back. The film is scripted by Dany Capuchin and directed by debutant Jijo Joseph. Premachandran AG is producing the film under the banner of Satyam Cinemas. This is the banner’s second film after last year’s Jayaram-Vijay Sethupathi starrer ‘Marconi Mathai’.

‘Varayan’ had formally gone on floors in December. We hear that the film s a fun filled entertainer. Leona Lishoy plays the female lead in the film. The supporting cast also includes Maniyanpilla Raju, Vijayaraghavan, Joy Mathew, Bindu Panicker, Jayashankar, Jude Anthany Joseph, Aristo Suresh, Adinad Sasi, Baiju Ezhuppunna and many others.

On the technical front, Rajeesh Raman is the cinematographer and Johnkutty has been assigned as the editor. Music department will be handled by Prakash Alex. Lyricist BK Harinarayanan, stunt master Alwin Alex, art director Nathan Mannur and dance choreographer Prasann Sujith are part of the crew.

Trisha starts shooting for Mohanlal-Jeethu Joseph film Ram!

As we already know, Mohanlal and Trisha are coming together for the first time in ‘Ram’. Jeethu Joseph is directing the film which is touted to be a big budget action thriller. Trisha has joined the film’s sets in Kochi. Her character is named as Vineetha and she is said to be playing the role of a doctor. The actress had earlier said that she is highly excited about the film as it was her long time wish to act alongside Mohanlal. ‘Ram’ is her second film in Malayalam after making a memorable debut in 2018 with Shyamaprasad’s ‘Hey Jude’. Her performance in the film alongside Nivin Pauly was widely praised and won her quite a few awards.

‘Ram’ shoot is progressing at a brisk pace. Apart from Kerala, the film will be shot in foreign locations like Egypt, London and Istanbul. As per the makers, it will be an unusual mass entertainer. Indrajith Sukumaran, Durga Krishna and Leona Lishoy are also part of the cast.

Satheesh Kurup is the DOP and debutant Vishnu Shyam will be handling the music department. VS Vinayak is the editor. Ramesh R Pillai and Sudhan S Pillai are jointly producing the film under the banner of Abhishek Films.

Rama Sethu: Jayasurya’s film based on Metro Man E Sreedharan to begin in October

Aa reported by us earlier, Jayasurya will be starring in ‘Rama Sethu’, a film based on the life of Metro Man, E Sreedharan. VK Prakash will be directing the movie and it is scripted by S Suresh Babu. Arun Narayan is producing the film and the makers have roped in veteran Ravi K Chandran to wield the camera. Pre-production works for this ambitious film is currently progressing and the makers are planning to start shooting in October.

E Sreedharan is credited for changing the face of public transport in India. He is well known for his efficient leadership in building the Konkan Railway, Delhi Metro and Kerala’s own Kochi Metro. Interestingly, scenarist Suresh Babu had earlier planned another film titled ‘Arabi Kadalinte Rani – The Metro Woman’ with Rima Kallingal as the lead. It was about Lalitha, an ordinary textile worker, and her attempts to meet her idol E Sreedharan. M Padmakumar was supposed to direct the film but it got dropped.

Suresh Babu later adapted the screenplay to develop it as a full fledged biopic. In ‘Rama Sethu’, the focus will be on Sreedharan’s professional journey and since it has a biopic nature, the movie will traverse multiple timelines. Jayasurya will be portraying his life from the age of early 30s to 80s. The story will be told from the perspective of two characters – Uthaman, a railway canteen employee, and his daughter Lathika, the same old textile worker. The story will explore how Sreedharan inspired Uthaman and his family.

Jayasurya meanwhile has a couple of exciting projects in his kitty like ‘Vellam’, ‘Aposthalan’ and an ambitious two-part film based on ‘Kadamattathu Kathanar’. Third instalment in the ‘Aadu’ franchise is also in the pipeline.

Mohanlal and Mammootty to do the honours for Fahadh Faasil’s next

Superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty will be releasing the first look poster of Fahadh Faasil’s upcoming film ‘Malik’. The poster will be out tomorrow (January 18) morning at 11 AM through their respective social media handles. ‘Malik’ is directed by ‘Take Off’ fame Mahesh Narayanan. Shoot for the film got wrapped up only recently.

‘Malik’ is based on a true incident that occurred few years back in Kerala. The film is a political thriller centred around a sensitive coastal area where there was a resistance against the constant threat of displacement of a minority community. Along with Fahadh Faasil, the cast also includes Joju George, Nimisha Sajayan, Vinay Forrt and Dileesh Pothan in major roles.

Anto Joseph Film Company is producing the film, which is said to be made on a budget of close to Rs 30 crores. The makers are planning to release it in April during the Vishu season.

The second look poster of Vijay Sethupathi’s new film ‘Laabam’ got released online last day on the occasion of his birthday. He appears with long hair and unkempt beard in this new poster. National award winning filmmaker SP Jhananathan is helming the film. The director is notef for his films like ‘Iyarkai’ and ‘Peranmai’. Like his earlier films, ‘Laabam’ will also be a socially relevant one that discusses about the plight of the farmers in the country today.

Vijay Sethupathi plays a character named Pakkiri, who is the leader of farmers association. Shruti Haasan is the female lead and she essays a character named Sriranjani, who is a singer who travels to different places to educate people.

‘Laabam’ has a bunch of good talents in the cast and crew. ‘Madras’ fame Kalaiyarasan, Sai Dhansika and Daniel are there in prominent roles. Jagapathi Babu will be seen as the antagonist. D Imman is handling the music department and the film has cinematography is by Ramji.

Director Arumugakumar and Vijay Sethupathi are jointly producing the film that is expected to hit screens very soon.

On the eve of MGR’s birth anniversary, the makers of ‘Thalaivi’ have released a new teaser which features Arvind Swamy as MGR. Swamy is seen nailing it as the late actor-turned-politician as he gets the body language and the looks spot on. Some new stills have also been released and Swamy bears a striking resemblance to MGR.

‘Thalaivi’ directed by AL Vijay is the biopic of former Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa. Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut plays the lead role. ‘Baahubali’ writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Rajat Arora have jointly scripted the film, which is being made as a bilingual in Tamil and Hindi.

The film will be centered around Jayalalithaa’s rise from a South Indian actor to one of the most powerful political leaders in the country. The story, which spans several decades, will shed light on how MGR became Jayalalithaa’s mentor as she forayed into the world of politics through his party. MGR and Jayalalithaa were very close to each other right from their acting days. They had starred in 28 hit films during the 60s and 70s.

Shoot for ‘Thalaivi’ is progressing at a brisk pace. The film has Vishal Vittal cranking the camera and music composed by GV Prakash. Vishnu Induri and Shaailesh R Singh are jointly producing the film, which is slated to hit screens worldwide on June 26, 2020.

After the blockbuster success of ‘Ratchasan’, while everyone thought that Vishnu Vishal would become the next big thing in Kollywood, he moved into an oblivion. He has had only one release till then – ‘Silukkuvarupatti Singam’. After a long gap for over a year, he came back to limelight thanks to his amazing makeover. In the first look poster of his new film ‘FIR’, he was seen sporting a lean, toned look. But a lot has gone behind that transformation and Vishnu himself has opened up about it.

Last day, Vishnu took to his social media handle to reveal about tough the last two years had been for him, both phsyically and mentally. An unfortunate divorce with his wife after being together for 11 years, separation from his son, financial losses and a major injury he suffered during shoot all moved him to a state of depression and he found solace in alcohol.

After a months of nothing going his way, Vishnu decided to seek help, physically and mentally. Six months after that, the actor is all charged up now. He has lost around 16 kilos and is currently in a happy state a mind. On the professional front, he has a handful of promising projects coming up.

Vishnu has posted a long note on his social media handle recounting the worst days of his life. He also urged everyone who are going through a similar phase to stay positive and disciplined. He firmly believes that physical health always improves mental health. In his own words, Vishnu went the ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’ (VA) way of battling depression and alcoholism to emerge all rejuvenated. Gautham Menon, the director of ‘VA’, even tweeted back to Vishnu. He has written,

Director AL Vijay is currently biopic on the biopic of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. The film titled as ‘Thalaivi’ has Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is playing the lead. The makers had earlier released a first look and teaser which were subjected to severe trolls for the shoddy makeup. Kangana’s face did not have any resemblance to the late leader and the awfully done makeup and bad prosthetics did not help either.

The makers of ‘Thalaivi’ seem to have learnt a lesson as they have got Arvind Swamy to play the role of MGR, the legendary actor-turned-politician. A couple of his photos from the sets have been released and Swamy bears a striking resemblance to MGR. Add to that, the veteran’s solid acting skills, the character seems to be in safe hands.
