Fahadh Faasil’s Malik wrapped up!

Shoot for Fahadh Faasil starrer ‘Malik’ has finally been wrapped up. The ambitious film directed by ‘Take Off’ director Mahesh Narayanan has been on the floors for around four months now. Anto Joseph Film Company is producing it and is said to be made on a budget of close to Rs 30 crores. Fahadh plays the lead role and the cast also includes actors like Joju George, Nimisha Sajayan and Vinay Forrt in major roles.

‘Malik’, scripted by director Mahesh himself, is based on a true incident that occurred few years back in Kerala. The film is a political thriller centred around a sensitive coastal area where there was a resistance against the constant threat of displacement of a minority community.

Mamangam fame Prachi Tehlan to play a police officer in Mohanlal’s Ram?

Shoot for Mohanlal’s new film ‘Ram’ is currently progressing. According to director Jeethu Joseph, the film is an unusual mass entertainer; an action-thriller with a realistic touch. Trisha, Adil Hussain, Indrajith Sukumaran, Durga Krishna, Leona Lishoy, Chandhunath and many others are part of the cast. Latest to join the team is Prachi Tehlan of ‘Mamangam’ fame.

Prachi had recently visited the sets of ‘Ram’ and had even shared a photo taken with Mohanlal on her social media handle. Reportedly, she will be seen in a police officer’s role in the film. It is said that it was Mohanlal who suggested her for the role after watching ‘Mamangam’.

Prachi Tehlan, a North Indian by birth, is the former captain of the Indian national Netball Team which represented the country in the 2010 Commonwealth Games. She made her debut in Malayalam with ‘Mamangam’, in which she played a crucial role alongside Mammootty.

Meanwhile, ‘Ram’ team is working at a brisk pace. Touted to be a big budget action thriller, the film will be shot in foreign locations like Egypt, London and Istanbul. Ramesh R Pillai and Sudhan S Pillai are jointly producing it under the banner of Abhishek Films.

Fahadh Faasil-Nazriya starrer Trance confirmed as Valentine’s Day release

Fahadh Faasil’s much awaited film ‘Trance’ has finally got a release date. The film has been in the making for almost 2 years and has seen multiple postponing. Finally, the makers have announced that it will be hitting screens on February 14 as a Valentine’s Day special. The release date got announced along with a beautifully designed poster featuring the lead pair, Fahadh and Nazriya.

‘Trance’ is a highly ambitious project with a huge budget involved. It is directed by Anwar Rasheed, who is making his comeback after a long gap. He is also producing the film under his own banner. Big names like cinematographer Amal Neerad and sound designer Resul Pookutty are part of the technical side.

Vincent Vadakkan has scripted the film but as of yet, nothing much is known regarding its genre or plot details. The cast includes Gautham Vasudev Menon, Soubin Shahir, Chemban Vinod Jose, Vinayakan, Dileesh Pothan, Arjun Ashokan, Sreenath Bhasi and many others

Confirmed: Vijay Sethupathi to play the antagonist in Allu Arjun’s next

Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi, popularly called as ‘Makkal Selvan’, is celebrating his birthday today. Fans, well wishers and colleagues have been wishing the star through social medias. Meanwhile, here comes a big news. It has just been confirmed that Vijay Sethupathi will be playing the antagonist opposite Telugu superstar Allu Arjun in his next film. Hit maker Sukumar is directing the film, which is yet to be titled. Rashmika Mandanna has been signed as the female lead.

Tentatively titled as ‘Allu Arjun 20’, the film marks Allu’s reunion with Sukumar after ‘Arya’ and ‘Arya 2’. The huge success of these two films made Allu a household name in the South. When the actor-director duo reunite for a third time, expectations will naturally be on the higher side. With Vijay Sethupathi also joining the cast, the hype has just skyrocketed. Mythiri Movie Makers is bankrolling the film.

Of late, Vijay Sethupathi has been open to take up character roles in other language films. He has already acted in a couple of Telugu films. He also impressed everyone by playing a negative role in the Rajinikanth starrer ‘Petta’. Besides that, he is also playing the villain role in Vijay’s upcoming film ‘Master’. It will be interesting to see how his face off with a charismatic star like Allu Arjun turns out on screen.

Dulquer Salmaan and Kajal Aggarwal team up for dance choreographer Brinda’s directorial debut

Recently, Kajal Aggarwal had spilled beans that she would be acting with Dulquer Salmaan in a new film soon. While there we’re speculations regarding the project, we now hear that the two would be coming together for popular dance choreographer Brinda’s directorial debut. Details regarding the film’s genre or its other team members are not yet known. Reliance Entertainment is producing the film, which is slated to go on floors from February end.

Brinda is unarguably one of the most accomplished dance choreographers in Indian cinema. She has worked in over hundred films across various languages with almost all the leading stars in the country. So it will be interesting to see a veteran like her turn a filmmaker. Dulquer and Kajal have also not acted together before; hence their on-screen chemistry will be something exciting to watch out for.

Dulquer is currently prepping up to shoot for the final schedule of ‘Kurup’. He also has a political thriller with Joy Mathew and a cop flick with Rosshan Andrrews coming up. His next release will be ‘Varane Avashyamund’, Anoop Sathyan’s directorial debut, which also stars Suresh Gopi, Shobhana and Kalyani Priyadarshan.

Kajal Aggarwal meanwhile is working on the prestigious Shankar-Kamal Haasan film, ‘Indian 2’. She is also part of a multi-starrer in Bollywood that will be directed by Sanjay Gupta. The film titled as ‘Mumbai Saga’ also stars John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar, Gulshan Grover, Rohit Roy, Sharman Joshi and Pankaj Tripathi.

I’ve always been a huge Lalettan fan, says ‘Aruvi’ fame Aditi Balan

Aditi Balan who shot to fame with her debut film ‘Aruvi’ is currently in Kerala shooting for her maiden Malayalam film ‘Padavettu’. She is paired opposite Nivin Pauly in the film which is being directed by debutant Liju Krishna. Interestingly, not many know that Aditi is a half Malayali.

In a recent interview to TOI, she revealed that her mom is a Mavelikkara native and her dad is from Chennai. During her childhood days, Aditi’s family was based in Kerala and she has some fond memories of watching Malayalam films from theatres. Aditi divulged that she is a huge fan of Mohnalal and also has a soft corner for Jayaram, as he resembles her dad.

After garnering widespread acclaim for her performance in ‘Aruvi’, Aditi took everyone by surprising by not signing any other film for three films. She finally took up ‘Padavettu’ after being impressed by the script, which she calls simple but impactful. Actor Sunny Wayne is making his feature film production debut by funding this film.

Besides ‘Padavettu’, Aditi is doing another Malayalam film in which she will be seen alongside Kunchacko Boban. It will be directed by Shaheed Khader, a former associate of late Rajesh Pillai.

Gauthamante Radham trailer: This Neeraj Madhav starrer looks fun!

Last day, the trailer of Neeraj Madhav’s new film ‘Gauthamante Radham’ was released online. Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier and a few other celebs shared the trailer through their respective social media handles. From the trailer, the film looks like a fun family ride. Apparently, Neeraj plays the titular role of Gauthaman, whose long time wish is to own a car. The story seems to be centered around the events that occur after his family buys a Tato Nano car.

‘Gauthamante Ratham’ is directed by debutant Anand Menon. Renji Panciker, Basil Joseph, Devi Ajith, Biju Sopanam, Valsala and many others are part of the supporting cast. Besides playing an important character, Basil is also associated with the film as the creative director.

Vishnu Sharma of ‘Godha’ and ‘Velipadinte Pusthakam’ fame is the cinematographer. Music department is handled by Ankit Menon and edits are done by Appu Bhattathiri. Kichappus Entertainment is presenting the film in association with ICL Fincorp.

Funtastic Films headed by Aju Varghese, Dhyan Sreenivasan and Visakh Subramanian will be releasing the film in Kerala.

It is not often that filmmakers release a song before the teaser or trailer release. But team ‘Varane Avishyamundu’ has opted for the route less traveled by releasing the song first. A fun track titled ‘Nee Vaa En Arumukha’ has been released online. The legendary KS Chithra and Karthik have sung this track which is set to tunes by Alphons Joseph. Santosh Varma has penned the lyrics.

‘Varane Avashyamund’ is the directorial debut of Sathyan Anthikad’s son Anoop Sathyan. The film has Dulquer Salmaan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Suresh Gopi and Shobhana in the lead roles. All the lead actors feature in the just released song video. Anoop Sathyan himself has scripted the film, which is said to be a family entertainer. Urvashi, Lal Jose, Major Ravi, KPAC Lalitha and many others are part of the film’s supporting cast.

Dulquer Salmaan is also producing the film under his banner of Wayfarer Films. M Star Communications is also associated with the production.

As informed earlier by the makers, the second look poster of Thalapathy Vijay’s new film ‘Master’ has been released today, on the occasion of Pongal. The film written and directed by Lokesh of ‘Kaithi’ has huge expectations. ‘Master’, as assured by the makers, will be completely different from Vijay’s earlier films. It is scheduled for release only in April, but the film has already locked a pre-release business which itself is worth around Rs 200 crore.
