Here’s the making video of Omar Lulu’s Dhamaka!

Director Omar Lulu’s new film ‘Dhamaka’ is gearing up for release. The film has been scheduled to hit screens on December 20. Meanwhile, the makers have been promoting the film by releasing the songs. Recently, a making video was also released online. From the 3-minute clip, we can make out that this ‘Dhamaka’ is a colorful entertainer on the lines of the director’s earlier films. The typical Omar Lulu style wedding song feature in this film as well.

‘Dhamaka’ has its story penned by Omar Lulu, while screenplay and dialogues are written jointly by Sarang Jayaprakash, Venu OV and Kiran Lal. As per the makers, it is a full-on comedy entertainer revolving around the hero’s impotency issue. Arun Kumar, well known for his performance as a child artist in ‘Olympian Antony Adam’, plays the main lead in ‘Dhamaka’.

Nikki Galrani has been paired with him. Senior actors Mukesh and Urvashi will be also seen in prominent roles. Neha Saxena, Sabumon Abdusamad, Hareesh Kanaran and many others are part of the supporting cast. The technical crew comprises of Sinoj P Ayyappan as the cinematographer, Gopi Sunder as the composer and Dilip Dennis as the editor.

MK Nassar is producing the film under the banner of Good Line Productions.

The Kung Fu Master: Abrid Shine’s next to hit screens in January

While everyone was wondering what Abrid Shine was upto after ‘Poomaram’, the director has just made a startling revelation that he has already finished shooting for his next film and it is getting ready to hit screens in January. Titled as ‘The Kung Fu Master’, the film is an action-drama shot in the Himalayas.

According to Abrid Shine, his first three films – ‘1983’, ‘Action Hero Biju’ and ‘Poomaram’ were all based on his personal experiences or the things that he has seen in his film. However, ‘The Kung Fu Master’ is a completely fictitious film that is inspired from the action films of Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Bruce Lee.

Neeta Pillai, who garnered attention for her performance in ‘Poomaram’, plays the lead role along with debutant Jiji Scaria. It is heard that both the lead actors had undergone intense training in martial arts before shooting for the film. Major Ravi’s son Arjun, a former associate of Jomon T John, is making his debut as an independent cinematographer with this film. It is being produced by Shibu Thekkumpuram.

First look of Tovino’s Forensic grabs attention!

Recently, the first look poster of Tovino’s new film ‘Forensic’ got released online and it has grabbed attention in social medias. The poster features Tovino performing a chemical test in a laboratory. The film has him playing the lead character named Samuel John Kaattookaran, who is a medico legal advisor working in the Kerala Police’s Forensic Science Lab.

‘7th Day’ scriptwriter Akhil Paul and Anas Khan are jointly directing the film. The duo have also scripted the film, which is based on some real life inspired events. Forensic science is an area least explored in Malayalam cinema. So the film is certain to have a lot of freshness in it.

‘Forensic’ has a talented bunch of actors and technicians. Mamta Mohandas plays the female lead. ‘Bigil’ fame Reba Monica John, Renji Panicker, Saiju Kurup, Giju John, Dhanesh Anand, Anwar Shereef, Anil Murali and many others are also part of the supporting cast. DOP Akhil George, music director Jakes Bejoy and editor Shameer Muhammed form the film’s core technical crew.

‘Forensic’ is being produced by Navis Xaviour and Siju Mathew under the banner of Juvis Productions and Raju Malliath’s Ragam Movies.

Leading celebrities wish luck for team Velleppam!

The formal launch event of ‘Velleppam’, an upcoming Malayalam film directed by Praveen Raj Pookkadan was held last day in Kochi. Filmmakers Anil Radhakrishnan Menon, Pramod Pappan and many others are part of the launch event held at 3 Dots Studio. The film’s first look poster was also unveiled there. Celebrities like Mammootty, Prithviraj, Indrajith, Sunny Wayne, Unni Mukundan and Aju Varghese also shared the poster and wished the team through their respective social media handles.

Askhay Radhakrishnan, who came up with a notable performance as Ayyappan in ‘Pathinettam Padi’, plays the lead role in ‘Velleppam’. Noorin Shereef, well known for her role in ‘Oru Adaar Love’, plays the female lead. Vaishak Rajan, noted for his performance as Dennis in the blockbuster ‘Thaneer Mathan Dhinangal’ will also be seen in an important role.

Newcomer Jeevan Lal has scripted ‘Velleppam’, which is said to be a fun rom-com with fantasy elements. The story is set in and around Thrissur. On the technical front, the film has Shihab Ongallur as the DOP, Shameer Muhammed as the editor and Leela Girish Kuttan of ‘Poomaram’ and ‘Thottappan’ fame as the music director. It is being produced by Jos Chakkalakal under the banner of Chakkalakal Films.

Check out Dulquer Salmaan’s new look from Kurup!

After a short break, the new schedule of Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Kurup’ commenced recently in Ahmedabad. Dulquer is sporting a new look for this leg of shoot. A photo of him in his new look has leaked online. As informed earlier, the star will be appearing in multiple looks in the film and this is expected to be one among them.

‘Kurup’ is one of the biggest Malayalam films in the making currently. Srinath Rajendran is directing the film, which is based on the life of Kerala’s infamous criminal, Sukumara Kurup. The film has its story penned by Jithin K Jose and screenplay written jointly by KS Aravind and Daniel Sayooj Nair.

While Dulquer Salmaan essays the titular role, the cast also includes other big names like Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Sunny Wayne, Sobhita Dhulipala and Shine Tom Chacko. Dulquer plays Sukumara Kurup’s part and Indrajith essays a police officer’s role.

On the technical front, Nimish Ravi of ‘Luca’ fame is cranking the camera and Sushin Shyam handles the music department. National award winners Vivek Harshan (editor) and Vinesh Banglan (art director) are also part of the crew.

‘Kurup’ is being produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s own banner, Wayfarer Films, and M Stars.

Joju George pens a note of gratitude on the first year anniversary of Joseph

Today marks the first year anniversary of the release of ‘Joseph’ – a film that turned out to be the biggest surprise hit of 2018. The film’a huge success changed fortunes for its lead actor Joju George, who soon was flooded with projects. Just a while back, Joju took to his social media handle to thank the audience and all the team members of ‘Joseph’.

Directed by M Padmakumar, ‘Joseph’ is a crime drama that exposed the organized organ mafia operating in the state. Shahi Kabeer, a real-life policeman, scripted the film that had Joju as an efficient police constable. His stellar performance was unanimously praised and won him the Kerala State Award for next character actor and a special mention at the National level.

Though ‘Joseph’ was originally planned with some other leading stars, none of them materialized and the offer eventually reached Joju’s hands. At the half way stage, he also took up the film’s production due to financial constraints. But it now looks like all that proved to be advantageous for Joju.

Post-Joseph, Joju’s career saw a steep rise as offers started pouring in and he was signed to play lead roles in big projects. He was also roped in by Tamil filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj to do a prominent role in his upcoming film alongside Dhanush. ‘Joseph’ will always be remembered as the film that showed the true potential of Joju.

Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham to be released in IMAX format?

The Priyadarshan directorial ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ is scheduled to hit screens only in March 2020 but talks regarding its release have already started online. Since it is the most expensive Malayalam film ever made, there are a lot of expectations on it. Currently, there is a buzz around that the makers are planning to release the film in IMAX format.

If the news turns out to true, it will be a first in Malayalam. However, it must be noted that there are only 15 IMAX screens in India and none so far in Kerala. If the makers can pull it off, Malayalam movie lovers outside the state and in overseas countries can enjoy the epic film in all its glory. A Chinese version is also in the planning, which is also likely to be released in this same format.

Though ‘Marakkar’ was shot on floors only for 3 months, it’s post-production has lasted over 9 months now. Such is the scale of the project that it requires over a year to complete the VFX and CG works. The film is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief of Zamorin of Calicut in the 16th century, whose duty was to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army. Superstar Mohanlal plays the lead role of Kunjali Marakkar IV.

The cast also includes several other big stars from across the country. Suniel Shetty, Arjun Sarja, Keerthy Suresh, Ashok Selvan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Prabhu, Mukesh, Suhasini Maniratnam, Fazil, Siddique, Manju Warrier, Baburaj, Nedumudi Venu, Hareesh Perady, Nandu, Innocent, Ganesh Kumar, Suresh Kumar and many others are part of the film. National award winning cinematographer Tirru and production designer Sabu Cyril are some of the big names in the technical crew.

Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are jointly producing the film, which is said to be made on a budget of over Rs 100 crores.

After unveiling the title and first look poster last day, the makers of ‘Thambi’ have released the teaser online. Actor Suriya shared the teaser through his official social media handle. Malayali filmmaker Jeethu Joseph is directing the film which has Karthi and Jyothika in the lead roles. It looks like a family-oriented thriller with a good dose of action. Parallel Minds and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures are jointly producing the film.

‘Thambi’ marks the first time coming together of Jyothika and Karthi. From the teaser, we can make out that they play siblings in the film and Sathyaraj essays the role of their father. Malayali actress Nikhila Vimal is paired with Karthi. Anson Paul, Hareesh Peradi, Seetha Sowkar Janaki, ‘Ratchasan’ fame Ammu Abhirami and Ilavarasu are also part of the supporting cast.

Venu to direct Parvathy and Asif Ali in his next!

Nearly two years after the release of his last film ‘Carbon’, cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Venu is all set to start works on his next. He along with directors Jay K, Rajeev Ravi and Aashiq Abu are teaming up for an anthology film. Venu’s segment will have the ‘Uyare’ pair of Parvathy and Asif Ali in the lead roles. Shoot is scheduled to begin on the first week of December.

We hear that all the four films in this upcoming anthology will have women as protagonists and that is the common theme. Jay K, who previously made the horror-thriller ‘Ezra’ fame, has already completed the shoot of his film. Scripted by Santhosh Echikanam, the film is set in the 50s and has Samyuktha Menon and Joju George in the lead roles

Aashiq Abu meanwhile is busy with the shoot of his film, which has been titled as ‘Pennum Cherukkanum’. Basil Joseph and Roshan Mathew are part of the cast. Unni R has scripted the film and it has cinematography by Shyju Khalid. Rajeev Ravi is likely to start works on his film only after the completion of ‘Thuramukham’.
