The Body: Release date announced for Jeethu Joseph-Emraan Hashmi film

As we had reported earlier, Jeethu Jospeh is making his Bollywood debut with a thriller film starring Emraan Hashmi and Rishi Kapoor in the lead roles. The film titled as ‘The Body’ is the remake of a popular Spanish flick named, ‘El Cuerpo’. Shoot for the film was wrapped in July last year and it will finally be hitting screens on December 13. The official announcement was made just a while back.

Jeethu is well known for helming thriller films and this new film also belongs to his favourite genre – thriller. As per the makers, it is a crime thriller with elements of mystery. Reportedly, the producers had approached Jeethu after acquiring the remake rights of ‘El Cuerpo’.

Along with Rishi Kapoor and Emraah Hashmi, the film also has Vedhik and Sobhita Dhulipala in important roles. It is being produced by Sunil Kheterpal and will be presented by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. Trailer and other promos are expected to be out soon.

Kaduva will be one of the biggest projects in Prithviraj’s career

Recently on Prithviraj’s birthday, it was announced that the star would be teaming up with veteran Shaji Kailas for a mass entertainer titled ‘Kaduva’. It is scripted by Jinu Abraham, who has earlier penned ‘Masters’ and ‘London Bridge’ and also directed ‘Adam Joan’. The actor’s own banner Prithviraj Productions is producing the film jointly with Magic Frames.

We hear that ‘Kaduva’ has been planned to made on a big budget. It will be one of the most expensive films in Prithviraj’s career so far. Apart from him, another popular star from South Indian cinema will also be part of the cast but the makers are yet to reveal the name. According to scriptwriter Jinu, ‘Kaduva’ is inspired from a real life story. It is conceived as a mass action flick set in the 90s.

On the technical front, the makers have signed efficient technicians like ace cinematographer Ravi K Chandran, art director Mohandas and editor Shameer Muhammed. The film also marks the entry of popular South Indian composer S Thaman to Malayalam film industry. If things go as per plans, shoot will be commencing by March, next year.

Jayasurya’s new film Vellam launched!

The customary pooja and switch on function of Jayasurya’s new film ‘Vellam’ was held today at Anjumana Devi Temple in Ernakulam. It is written and directed by Prajesh Sen, who made his debut last year with ‘Captain’ also starring Jayasurya. Samyuktha Menon has been cast as the female lead. The two lead actors have not shared screen space before, so there is definitely a freshness in casting.

‘Vellam’ is said to be the story of a mysterious drunkard based in Kannur. Jayasurya’s character is said to be a very challenging one and we can expect to see another solid performance from him. Roby Varghese Raj will be cranking the camera. More details regarding the other cast and technical crew members will be officially announced shortly. It is being produced by Friendly Productions.

Jayasurya recently wrapped up shooting for ‘Thrissur Pooram’. The Rajesh Mohanan directorial is mass entertainer scheduled to hit screens next month during the Christmas season.

The team of Karthik Subbaraj’s new film had been camping in London for over two months now. After working together for around 70 days, shoot finally got wrapped up shoot last day. The film starring Dhanush in the lead is a gangster thriller set entirely in UK. Malayalam actress Aishwarya Lekshmi is paired with Dhanush.

As per reports, this yet-to-be titled film has Dhanush playing an Indian gangster. He will be seen locking horns with a much powerful gangster from Europe. This latter role is supposedly played by Hollywood actor James Cosmo, who has acted films like ‘Braveheart’, ‘Troy’, ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion’ and the popular TV series ‘Game of Thrones’.

Malayali actor Joju George and ‘Madras’ fame Kalaiyarasan are also playing very important roles in the film. On the technical front, Santhosh Narayanan is the composer, Shreyaas Krishna, the DOP and Vivek Harshan handles the edits. S Sashikanth of Y Not Studios is producing the film.

The new office building of Kamal Haasan’s production house, Raaj Kamal International was inaugurated today in Chennai. Superstar Rajinikanth, ace director Mani Ratnam, lyricist Vairamuthu and several other prominent personalities from Tamil film industry attended the function.

Speaking to the medias present, Rajinikanth and Kamal opened up about their mutual respect for each other and how they continue to remain such close friends even after all these years. Rajinikanth also talked high of Kamal Haasan’s genius. The superstar revealed that there are only three films that he keeps watching in his free time and Kamal’s ‘Hey Ram’ is one among them. He added that he must have seen that film like 40-50 times.

On his part, Kamal congratulated Rajinikanth on being honoured with the Icon of the Golden Jubilee award IIFI 2019. He said it was a delayed honor as Rajinikanth had become an icon right from his first year in the industry. About how their friendship lasted for so long despsite being in a competitve industry, Kamal said that it is because they don’t pay heed to gossip mongers and clarify issues between them directly.

Jeethu Joseph’s next with Karthi titled as Thambi?

Malayalam filmmaker Jeethu Joseph’s new Tamil film with Karthi is getting ready for release next month. If reports are to be believed, the film has been titled as ‘Thambi’, which means younger brother in Tamil. Said to be a family-oriented thriller, the film also stars Jyothika, Nikhil Vimal and Sathyaraj in major roles.

This is the first time Jyothika and Karthi are acting together. They will be seen as siblings in the film and Sathyaraj essays the role of their father. Nikhila is paired with Karthi. Anson Paul, Hareesh Peradi, Seetha Sowkar Janaki, ‘Ratchasan’ fame Ammu Abhirami and Ilavarasu are also part of the supporting cast. On the technical front, RD Rajasekhar is the cinematographer and Govind Vasantha handles the music department.

Parallel Minds is producing the film and it will be presented by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. Though an official announcement is yet to be made, it is said that the makers are planning to release the film for December 20 with an eye on the Christmas holidays.

Last day, the theatrical release date of ‘Chola’ was officially announced by its makers. It will be hitting screens on December 6. Apart from the original Malayalam version, the film also has a Tamil version, which has reportedly been titled as ‘Alli’. Both the films will be releasing simultaneously on December 6. Popular Tamil filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj is also involved in the film’s production. It must be noted that Joju is making his Tamil debut with Karthik’s upcoming gangster thriller starring Dhanush in the lead.

‘Chola’ directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s first grabbed when this year’s Kerala State awards were announced. Both the lead actors, Joju and Nimisha, won awards for their performance in the movie. Sanal Kumar Sasidharan also got a special jury mention for direction as well as sound design.

‘Chola’ premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, becoming only the third Malayalam film to be screened there. The film is said to be a dark thriller that revolves around a school going girl’s journey with a middle-aged man. Director Sanal has scripted the film jointly with KV Manikandan. Ajith Aacharya is the cinematographer and music is by Basil CJ and Sergey Cheremisnov.

Shylock first look to be released tomorrow!

Mammootty’s next release will be the Ajai Vasudev directorial ‘Shylock’. The film is slated to hit screens next month during the Christmas season. As the release date is closing in, the makers have decided to start the promotional activities. To begin with, the first look poster will be out tomorrow (November 09) at 7 PM.

‘Shylock’ has been planned as a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual. The Tamil version has been titled as ‘Kuselan’ and its first look poster was out recently. Scripted by Bibin Mohan and Aneesh Hameed, the film is touted to be a complete mass entertainer.

Mammootty plays a financier’s role in the film and it is said to be a grey shaded character. Veteran Tamil actor Raj Kiran is making his Malayalam debut with this film. He has also penned the dialogues for the film’s Tamil version. Meena, Bibin George, Baiju Santhosh, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Arthana Binu, Arjun Nandakumar, Hareesh Kanaran and many others are also part of the cast. Joby George of Goodwill Entertainment is producing the film.

As informed earlier, the motion poster of superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Darbar’ has been shared online. Apart from the original Tamil version, the poster has also been released in Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi languages. Birthday boy Kamal Haasan released the Tamil poster. The Malayalam poster was unveiled by Mohanlal, Hindi by Salman Khan and Telugu by Mahesh Babu through their respective social media handles.

‘Darbar’ is written and directed by AR Murugadoss. It is a cop action flick that has Rajinikanth playing a cop’s role after nearly two decades. Nayanthara is paired with him and Nivetha Thomas will be seen as his daughter. Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty plays the villain role. The supporting cast also includes Prateik Babbar, Sriman, Yogi Babu, cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s Yograj Singh and many others.

‘Darbar’ also has a good technical crew headlined by ace DOP Santosh Sivan, music director Anirudh Ravichander and veteran editor Sreekar Prasad. Ram-Laxman and Peter Hein are choreographing the action sequences.

Lyca Productions is producing the film, which is slated to hit screens during the Pongal season in January.

Director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s ‘Chola’ starring Joju George and Nimisha Sajayan has been eagerly awaited by many. The first first grabbed when the Kerala State awards were announced. Both the lead actors won awards for their performance in the movie. Sanal Kumar Sasidharan also got a special jury mention for direction as well as sound design.

‘Chola’ was later selected for screening at the Venice International Film Festival, becoming is only the third Malayalam film to be screened there. Finally after all the waiting, the film is set for its theatrical release on December 6. Director Sanal has confirmed that the film will have a wide release in a good number of theatres.
