Soorarai Pottru first look released date announced

Suriya’s ‘Soorarai Pottru’ is eagerly awaited by many, including the actor’s fans as well as cine lovers. The film is being directed by Sudha Kongara of ‘Irudhi Suttru’ fame. Last day, on the occasion of Diwali, the makers avar announced that the first look poster will be out on November 10. Shoot has already been completed and post-production works are currently progressing at a brisk pace. The film is most likely to be a Pongal release, in January next year.

‘Soorarai Pottru is loosely based on the life of GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan, who is also a retired captain of the Indian army. Sudha Kongara and Shalini Usha Nair have jointly scripted the film. Malayali actress Aparna Balamurali plays the female lead. Paresh Rawal, Jackie Shroff and Mohan Babu will also be seen in prominent roles.

The film has cinematography by Niketh Bommireddy, music composed by GV Prakash and stunts handled by Hollywood based action choreographer Greg Powell.

‘Pathinettam Padi’ fame Akshay Radhakrishnan and Noorin Shereef to star in Vellappam

Askhay Radhakrishnan, who came up with a notable performance as Ayyappan in ‘Pathinettam Padi’, has bagged his next. He will be next seen in ‘Vellappam’, directed by debutant Praveen Raj Pookkadan. Noorin Shereef, well known for her role in ‘Oru Adaar Love’, plays the female lead. It is said to be a fun rom-com with fantasy elements. The story is set in and around Thrissur. Shoot is scheduled to commence on November 17.

‘Vellappam’ is scripted by newcomer Jeevan Lal. Though the makers are yet to reveal the cast, we hear that a leading star from Malayalam cinema will be appearing in a cameo role in the film. Vaishak Rajan, noted for his performance as Dennis in the blockbuster ‘Thaneer Mathan Dhinangal’ will also be seen in an important role.

On the technical front, the film has Shameer Muhammed as the editor and Leela Girish Kuttan of ‘Poomaram’ and ‘Thottappan’ fame as the music director. It is being produced by Rafeek TM.

Actor Krishna Kumar’s four daughters, namely Ahaana Krishna, Diya Krishna, Ishaani Krishna and Hansika Krishna, are much popular among the netizens. The four sisters have a good share of following in social medias. While Ahaana has already established herself an actor with films like ‘Njanadukalude Naatil Oridavela’ and ‘Luca’, Hansika made a brief appearance in ‘Pathinettam Padi’. Another member from the family is now set to make her tinseltown debut.

Ishaani, third among the four sisters, is debuting with megastar Mammootty’s upcoming film ‘One’. Details about Ishaani’s character in the film are not yet known. Directed by Santhosh Viswanath of ‘Chirakodinja Kinavukal’ fame, the film is shaping up as a political thriller. It is scripted by Bobby-Sanjay and produced by Ichais Productions.

‘One’ has a big supporting cast comprising of Joju George, Murali Gopy, Mathew Thomas, Gayathri Arun, Balachandra Menon, Sudev Nair, Suresh Krishna, Salim Kumar, Shankar Ramakrishnan, Alencier Ley, Mamukoya, Balaji Sharma and many others.

Veyilin Chumbanangal: Watch this new video song from Pattam!

‘Pattam’ is an upcoming Malayalam film starring a bunch of newcomers. It is being directed by debutant Rajeesh V Raja and produced by Jashim Rasheed and J Jayachandran under the banner of Big Sona Productions. The makers have released a new video song online. Ramesh Pisharody and Shine Tom Chacko shared the song through their official social media handles. The track titled ‘Veyilin Chumbanangal’ is sung by veteran Unni Menon. Sreejith PB has penned the lyrics and is composed by Prasanth Mohan.

The cast of ‘Pattam’ includes Chittu Abraham, Juhi Rustagi, Saranya K Soman, Mathew Jotty, Aparna Menon, Jashim Raheed, Jayan Cherthala, Biju Kuttan, Risha P Haridas, Sreedersh, Layana, Jishnu Raveendran, Jayan Chengamanadu and Shibu Laban among others.

‘Pattam’ has its cinematography by Vipin Raj and Gopu Prasad, and music department is handled by Prasanth Mohan MP. Akhil Raj Puthanveetil is editing the film.

The Diwali special poster of superstar Rajinikanth’s new film ‘Darbar’ has just been released online. The film directed by AR Murugadoss is gearing up for Pongal release in January, 2020. Expectations are huge on the film as Rajinikanth is playing a police officer’s role after nearly two decades. Nayanthara is paired with him and Nivetha Thomas will be seen as his daughter.

‘Darbar’ is a cop action flick set in Mumbai. Rajinikanth’s character is named as Aaditya Arunasalam and he will be seen as a high rank police officer. Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty plays the villain role. The cast also includes Prateik Babbar, Sriman, Yogi Babu, cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s Yograj Singh and many others.

As expected, Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Bigil’ is off to a box office rampage. The film has taken a massive opening worldwide with figures estimated to be over Rs 40 crore on day 1. In Tamil Nadu, the film has grossed approximately Rs 26 cr, which makes it the second biggest opener in the state. The exact figures are not yet out officially.

While Trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai has tweeted,

It clearly shows the kind of absolute dominance that Vijay enjoys in the box office and why he is the true, indisputable king of opening.

Vijay’s ‘Bigil’ and Karthi’s ‘Kaithi’ were the two Diwali releases from Tamil cinema this year. Both the films have opened to excellent response all over. While ‘Bigil’ has got a phenomenal opening at the box office courtesy Vijay’s massive popularity worldwide, ‘Kaithi’ is getting unanimous praise for its quality content. The film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is winning appreciation from critics and commoners alike. Fellow fimmakers from the new age have all been heaping praise on Lokesh for successfully pulling off such a no-nonsense mass masala film.

Meanwhile, the makers of ‘Kaithi’ have confirmed that the film will have a sequel. Director Lokesh has tweeted,

In a small success celebration event held in Chennai, Karthi also revealed the same. Apparently, Lokesh has already narrated the story of the second part and has asked for only 30 days of shoot. Karthi is also impressed by it and the sequel might materialize soon.

It is worth a mention that Lokesh’s next after ‘Kaithi’ is a mega biggie with Vijay. Said to be an action- thriller, the film also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Antony Varghese, Malavika Mohanan and Shantanu Bhagyaraj. Shoot is currently underway and the film is scheduled for summer release next year.

Dulquer Salmaan to star in dance choreographer Brinda’s directorial debut

After a long gap, Dulquer Salmaan recently made his return to his home ground, Malayalam. Even then, his quest to expand wings continues. Despite already having three Malayalam films in his kitty, the actor has committed for a new Tamil film. It is being reported that Dulquer will be playing the lead in famous dance choreographer Brinda master’s directorial debut.

Brinda is one of the most popular choreographers in Indian cinema. She has worked in hundreds of films across all languages with almost all the leading stars in the country. It will be interesting to see a veteran like her turn a filmmaker and that too with a much-loved star like Dulquer Salmaan. Other details regarding the project are not yet known.

Dulquer is currently shooting for Anoop Sathyan’s directorial debut, which also stars Suresh Gopi, Shobhana and Kalyani Priyadarshan in major roles. The ambitious mystery thriller ‘Kurup’ is also at the halfway stage. Dulquer has also signed for a political thriller with Joy Mathew in Malayalam.

Shoot for Mammootty’s new film ‘One’ is currently underway. Santhosh Viswanath of ‘Chirakodinja Kinavukal’ is directing the film. It is a political drama scripted by Bobby-Sanjay and produced by Ichais Productions. As reported by us earlier, Mammootty plays the role of a Chief Minister in the film. His character has been named as Kadakkal Chandran.

Chandran is a full-time politician who started from the grassroots level before making his way up. Along with the political angle, there also will be strong family emotions. With this film, the makers are trying to show how an ideal Chief Minister should function. Bobby-Sanjay have taken inspiration from some real life incidents to script this film.

This is the first time Bobby and Sanjay are scripting a Mammootty starrer and in addition to that, it has been ages since the star has done a political drama in Malayalam. So expectations are already on the higher side for ‘One’. Bigil becomes this year’s biggest opener in Chennai

The hugely awaited Vijay starrer ‘Bigil’ got released worldwide last day. The movie has been released in around 4200 screens across the globe and as expected it has taken a phenomenal opening at the box office. In Chennai city, the film has emerged as the biggest opening day grosser of 2019. ‘Bigil’ has grossed a whopping Rs 1.79 crore despite releasing on a working day.

It is Vijay’s second best Chennai city opener after last year’s ‘Sarkar’. Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘2.O’ tops the list of biggest openers in Chennai city box office. ‘Bigil’ achieved this remarkable feat despite the fact that it had to face stiff competition from ‘Kaithi’. The Karthi starrer has opened to unanimously positive reviews and has earned Rs 32 lakhs in the city box office.

In domestic centres like Kerala, Karnataka and the Telugu speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telengana, ‘Bigil’ has opened to huge numbers. Telugu version of the film, which has been titled as ‘Whistle’ also got released last day. A simultaneous release has definitely proved beneficial in the earnings.
