Suresh Gopi’s next is an action-packed family drama!

Suresh Gopi has been out of action in Malayalam nearly four years now. The veteran star is now set to stage a comeback and he is trying to make it a memorable one. He has already started shooting for Sathyan Anthikad’s son Anoop Sathyan’s debut film that also stars Shobhana, Dulquer Salmaan and Kalyani Priyadarshan. Another film getting ready for Suresh Gopi is with Nithin Renji Panicker of ‘Kasaba’ fame.

The director was supposed to helm the sequel of Suresh Gopi’s yesteryear blockbuster ‘Lelam’. However, the project has now been shelved and instead the two will now be teaming up for a fresh subject. Nithin himself has scripted the film which has been conceived as an action-packed family drama. The story set in the high ranges of Idukki spans across two different timelines.

Along with Suresh Gopi, the film will also see Lal in a major role. Others in the cast include Alencier Ley, IM Vijayan, Sujith Shankar, Kichu Tellus, Binu Pappu, Muthumani and Pathamaraj Ratheesh. On the technical front, National award winner Nikhil S Praveen, noted for his work in Jayaraj’s highly acclaimed films ‘Bhayanakam’, will be cranking the camera. Music department will be handled by Ranjin Raj of ‘Joseph’ fame.

Joby George of Goodwill Entertainments is producing the film.

Vetrimaaran’s ‘Asuran’ continues to find admirers. The film is having a phenomenal run at the box office and is also getting critical appreciation from all corners. Even celebrities from within the industry have been heaping praise on the film. Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu has written a note on his Twitter handle congratulating the makers. His tweet reads,

‘Asuran’, which is based on the novel ‘Vekkai’, is an intense tale of revenge, caste and class violence. Along with Dhanush’s stunning performance, it is Manju Warrier who is getting widespread appreciation. The actress who played the role of Dhanush’s wife is extremely convincing as a rural Tamil woman and truly deserves all the praise that’s coming their way.

‘Asuran’ recently made its way to the elite Rs 100 crore club. Notably, it is Dhanush’s first film to cross the mark.

Chiyaan Vikram 58 launched; Irfan Pathan and KGF fame Srinidhi Shetty also part of cast

Vikram’s new film directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu was launched today with a formal pooja ceremony. Tentatively titled as ‘Chiyaan Vikram 58’, the film is touted to be an action thriller that will be made on a huge scale. 7 Screen Studio is producing the film, which will have music composed by maestro AR Rahman.

Director Ajay Gnanamuthu has previously helmed the horror flick ‘Demonte Colony’ and crime-thriller ‘Imaikka Nodigal’, both of which were hits. Naturally, his upcoming film with Vikram has high expectations among the fans. There is also an added buzz going around about Vikram sporting 25 different looks in the film, but the makers have not yet confirmed this.

Cricketer Irfan Pathan is making his acting debut with this film. Former Miss Supranational, Srinidhi Shetty, well known for playing the female lead in the Kannada blockbuster ‘KGF’, has also been signed play an important role. More details are expected to be revealed in the coming days.

As reported by us earlier, director Mari Selvaraj of ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ will be teaming up with Dhanush for his next film. Kalaipuli S Thanu of V Creations is producing the film, which is scheduled to start rolling in December. Casting and other pre-production works are under progress. Latest reports suggest that the makers have signed Malayalam actor Lal to play an important role. The veteran has acted in numerous Tamil films and is already a familiar face among the audience there.

Since Mari Selvaraj’s debut film ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ was widely acclaimed, his next with Dhanush also has high expectations. Reportedly, Malayali actress Rajisha Vijayan is in talks to play the female lead. There are reports about the movie being titled as ‘Karnan’ but there is still no confirmation on it.

Santhosh Narayanan has been signed as the composer and Kalaipuli S Thanu of V Creations is producing the film. An official announcement with details regarding the full cast and crew will be made shortly.

As we already know, Kamal Haasan and director Shankar are reuniting for ‘Indian 2’, the sequel to their own classic hit that got released in 1996. The sequel will see Kamal Haasan returning as the freedom-turned-vigilante Senapathi. After completing the first two schedules in Rajahmundry and Sriperumbudur, the team has now moved to Bhopal.

A massive action sequence has been planned to be shot there. The makers are interesting a whopping Rs 40 crore for this fight scene alone. Around 2000 junior artists will be part of the scene, which promises to be a true visual treat from Shankar and team. Famous action director Peter Hein is choreographing this scene.

Kamal Haasan will be joining the team shortly. He will be appearing as a 90-year-old in the film and the star is putting in the best of his efforts to look and perform convincingly as a nonagenarian. In a recent interview, Peter Hein is quoted saying that it was a big challenge for him to choreograph stunts for a 90-year-old. But to his pleasant surprise, he was amazed by the authenticity that Kamal brings to the table as he performs exactly like how an old man fights.

‘Indian 2’ also stars Bollywood superstar Anil Kapoor, Kajal Agarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Nedumudi Venu. Shankar has written the movie’s screenplay and dialogues are penned by Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairmuthu and Lakshmi Saravanakumar. Composer Anirudh Ravichander, cinematographer Rathnavelu, editor Sreekar Prasad and production designer Muthuraj form the core technical crew.

Lyca Productions is producing the film and it is reported that they are investing a lavish budget of over Rs 200 crores.After wrapping up the Bhopal schedule, the team will be heading to Taiwan and later to Europe.

It has been 27 years since the release of Mammootty’s ‘Johnnie walker’. The Jayaraj directorial was a trendsetter in the 90s that got noted for its different style of filmmaking and was also a big hit at the box office. After nearly three decades, the director is planning to make a sequel to the film.

‘Johnnie walker’ ends with the unfortunate death of Mammootty’s character, Johnny Varghese. The second part apparently unfolds from the viewpoint of Kuttapayi, Johnny’s acquaintance Reports suggest that, Jayaraj had approached Dulquer Salmaan with the project but the actor seemed not very interested with the offer. Jayaraj is now expected to do the film with some other young star. An official announcement regarding the same is expected to be made very shortly.

The director is currently making a film titled ‘Backpack’ with Kalidas Jayaraj in the lead. Newcomer Karthika plays the female lead, which we presume to be a travel flick.

Director Jude Anthany Joseph’s ambitious film ‘2403 ft’ based on the devastating Kerala floods started rolling only recently. We hear that the team has already completed a brief first schedule. Tovino Thomas and ‘Ambili’ fame Tanvi Ram were part of this leg of shoot. ‘2403’ ft is inspired from several real life events that occurred during the floods of 2018. Director Jude is scripting it jointly with John Manthrickal, the co-writer of ‘Ann Maria Kalipilanu’ and ‘Alamara’.

There are reports about stars like Kunchacko Boban, Jayasurya, Asif Ali, Indrajith Sukumaran and Manju Warrier also acting in the film, but the makers are yet to confirm it. Earlier in an interview, Jude had mentioned that popular stars from Tamil cinema will also be part of the film. So we are still waiting for an official announcement regarding the cast.

An efficient technical crew is part of the film which includes cinematographer Jomon T John, editor Mahesh Narayanan, composer Shaan Rahman and sound designers Vishnu Govind and Sree Sankar. Since the movie demands good amount of CG and special effects, the makers are in talks with some of the leading VFX companies. Anto Joseph Film Company is producing this big budget film.

After the debacle of ‘My Story’, director Roshni Dinaker is back with her next. Her second film has been titled as ‘2 Stroke’ and it will have Sreenath Bhasi, Amit Chakalakkal and Shebin Benson in the lead roles. From the title poster, we presume that it’s a story about motocross racing. Babu Vallarpadam has scripted the film.

On the technical front, the makers have signed CD Jinan, a five-time consecutive winner of Indian National Motocross Championship, to choreograph the racing sequences. Vinod Perumal will be wielding the camera and edits will be done by Don Max. Sam CS, well known for his score in ‘Vikram Vedha’ has been roped in as the music director. This is his second outing in Malayalam after he made his debut last year with the Mohanlal starrer ‘Odiyan’.

‘2 Stroke’ will have sound design by Renganaath Ravee, stunts by Kanal Kannan and costumes designed ny director Roshni. She is also producing the film jointly with with her husband Dinaker OV. Shoot is expected to begin very shortly.

The official trailer of ‘Helen’ has been released online. Mohanlal, Dulquer Salmaan, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Pranav Mohanlal shared the trailer through their respective social media handles. ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ fame Anna Ben is playing the lead in the film and it is directed by debutant Mathukutty Xavier. Vineeth Sreenivasan is producing the film under the banner of Habit Of Life and Big Bang Entertainments.

‘Helen’ has Lal, Aju Varghese, Rony David Raj, Binu Pappu and a bunch of newcomers as part of the supporting cast. Director Mathukutty has scripted the film jointly with Noble Babu Thomas and Alfred Kurian Joseph. Noble is also playing a major role in the film. It is worth a mention that he was one of the producers of ‘Jacobinte Swargarajyam’, which was directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan.

‘Helen’ has cinematography by Anend C Chandran of ‘Premam’ fame, music by Shaan Rahman and edits by Shameer Muhammed. Funtastic films, owned by Aju Varghese, Dhyan Sreenivasan and Vishak Subramaniam, will be distributing the film in Kerala.
