Sathyan Anthikad’s next with Mammootty set to begin soon

As reported by us earlier, veteran director Sathyan Anthikad will be teaming up with Mammootty for his next film. Iqbal Kuttipuram, who has penned superhit films like ‘Niram’, ‘Arabikatha’, ‘4 The People’ and ‘Diamond Necklace’, is scripting this new film. Central Pictures will be producing the film, which is yet to be titled. The project is currently in the initial stages and the makers are planning to start shooting by the end of this year. If things go as per plans, the film will be hitting screens for summer next year.

Sathyan Anthikad is fresh from the success of ‘Njan Prakashan’. He is expected to stick on to his regular feel-good formula that most often not works for the family audience. It must be noted that the director had worked with Mammootty in films like ‘Sreedharante Onnaam Thirumurivu’, ‘Artham’ and ‘Kalikkalam’ to name a few. .

‘Oraal Mathram’, which got released in the year 1997, was their last film together. So it will be interesting to see them collaborate after a long gap of over two decades. Likewise, Sathyan Anthikad and Iqbal Kuttippuram had collaborated previously for ‘Oru Indian Pranayakatha’ and ‘Jomonte Suvisheshangal’. Both the films did well at the box office. So they will be hoping to continue their successful this time around as well.

Mammootty starrer ‘Ganagandharvan’ continues to do well in theatres. Directed by Ramesh Pisharody, the film has proven successful in attracting family audience in good numbers to theatres. It is expected to have a longer run in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the makers have released an interesting new scene from the film online.

Ramesh Pisharody has jointly scripted ‘Ganagandharvan’ with Hari P Nair. Newcomer Vanditha Manoharan plays the female lead. The film also has an elaborate supporting cast comprising of popular actors like Mukesh, Manoj K Jayan, Suresh Krishna, Ashokan, Innocent, Johny Antony, Abu Salim, Salim Kumar, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Hareesh Kanaran, Maniyanpilla Raju, Kalabhavan Prajod, Sunil Sukhada and Arya.

Cinematographer Azhagappan, music director Deepak Dev and editor Lijo Paul form the core technical crew. The film is being produced jointly by Anto Joseph, Sree Lakshmi R and Sankar Raj under the banners of Ichais Productions, Anto Joseph Film Company and Ramesh Pisharody Entertainments.

Thala 60: Ajith sports a new look for his next!

After the success of ‘Nerkonda Paaravai’, the trio of Ajith, director H Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor are teaming up once again. Tentatively titled as ‘Thala 60’, the film is touted to be an action thriller. Ajith reportedly plays a cop in the film. Recently, the actor was spotted in airport sporting a new look, which is presumed to be his avatar for Vinoth’s film. The actor was seen in a new clean shaven look with a short crew-cut hairstyle.

‘Thala 60’ is planned as an action thriller that will be shot extensively in foreign countries. Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor, daughter of late Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, is likely to make her Tamil debut with this film. Rumours are also afloat about Ajay Devgn playing the antagonist. However, the makers are yet to confirm any of this.

Full details about the film’s cast and crew are expected to be officially announced soon.

Jayaram starrer ‘Pattabhiraman’ is still running in a few screens in Kerala. After over a month from its release, the makers have now released a new video song online. Releasing on August 23, the film opened to positive reviews that highlighted the relevant social message discussed in it. Despite a slew of releases including the big star films that hit screens for Onam, ‘Pattabhiraman’ managed to hold steady. It is Jayaram’s first commercial success after a string of failures. .

‘Pattabhiraman’ directed by Kannan Thamarakulam is a light hearted film that also brings to light food adulteration and its harmful effects in detail. Jayaram plays the role of a health inspector in the film, while Sheela Abraham essays the part of his wife. The supporting cast also includes Baiju Santhosh, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Hareesh Kanaran, Miya George, Parvathy Nambiar, Ramesh Pisharody, Devan, Prem Kumar, Sai Kumar and many others.

Abraham Mathew has produced the film under the banner of Abaam Movies.

Shoot wrapped up for superstar Rajinikanth’s Darbar

Superstar Rajinikanth had been working continuously for his new film ‘Darbar’ for the last few months. Shoot finally got wrapped up last day in Mumbai. Written and directed by AR Murugadoss, the film is touted to be an action-packed mass entertainer. Nayanthara is paired with Rajinikanth and Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty plays the villain role.

‘Darbar’ has Rajinikanth as a Mumbai based IPS officer. Wearing the khakis, the 68-year-old star looks fit as ever in the photos shared from the film’s sets. This is his first cop role in nearly two decades and fans are highly excited about it.

‘Darbar’ cast also includes Prateik Babbar, Nivetha Thomas, Sriman, Yogi Babu and many others are part of the cast. The film also has a strong technical crew headlined by ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan, composer Anirudh Ravichander and veteran editor Sreekar Prasad. Ram-Laxman duo is choreographing the stunts.

Lyca Productions is producing ‘Darbar’, which has been slated for a Pongal release, next January.

The official teaser of Tovino Thomas’ upcoming film ‘Edakkad Battalion 06’ has been shared online. The film is directed by debutant Swapnesh K Nair, a former associate of Omar Lulu. Actor-writer P Balachandran has written its screenplay. Shrikant Bhasi, Thomas Joseph Pattathanam and Jayant Mammen are jointly producing ‘Edakkad Battalion 06’ under the banner of Ruby Films.

The film has Tovino Thomas playing the role of an army officer. As per the makers, it is an entertainer that has a strong social relevance. It touches upon topics like family relationships and religious brotherhood. Samyuktha Menon, who has earlier starred with Tovino in ‘Theevandi’, ‘Uyare’ and ‘Kalki’, plays the female lead in this one as well. The romantic song ‘Nee Himamazhayayi’ featuring the lead pair has got already great response..

The supporting cast of ‘Edakkad Battalion 06’ includes Divya Pillai of ‘Oozham’ fame, P Balachandran, Rekha, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Nirmal Palazhi, Sankar Induchoodan, Shalu Rahim and many others.

We had earlier reported about Rajeev Ravi roping in Asif Ali for his next directorial. It is a crime story inspired from a true incident. Sibi Thomas, a real life police circle inspector, is scripting the film. Arun Kumar VR will be producing it under the banner of Film Roll productions. Along with Asif Ali, we hear that Sunny Wayne will also be a part of this film. An official confirmation is still awaited in this regard.

It is worth a mention that the two actors had earlier worked together in ‘Mosayile Kuthira Meenukal’. Sunny has also worked with director Rajeev Ravi in ‘Annayum Rasoolum’. Apparently, Rajeev Ravi decided to make this new film after being intrigued by a investigation story that Sibi Thomas had narrated during a television chat show.

It was a well-planned jewellery robbery incident that occurred in Kasargod. Sibi Thomas’ part in real life, as the police officer, will be brought on screen by Asif Ali. Sibi Thomas is noted for his cop role in the widely acclaimed, ‘Thondimuthal Driksakshiyum’.

Rajeev Ravi is currently working on ‘Thuramukham’ which has Nivin Pauly, Nimisha Sajayan, Indrajith Sukumaran, Biju Menon, Poornima Indrajith, Arjun Ashokan and Manikandan Achari in major roles.

Maverick filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Jallikattu’ has hit screens in Kerala today and as expected it has opened to outstanding reports from all corners. If we go by the initial response in social medias, the film has definitely lived up to the sky high hype that was created following the screening in Toronto International Film Festival.

Meanwhile, we hear that Lijo’s next after ‘Jallikkattu’ has been titled as ‘Chuzhali’. Even before the theatrical release of ‘Jallikattu’, the director had started shooting for this film. Joju George, Chemban Vinod Jose, Soubin Shahir, Vinay Forrt and Dileesh Pothan are playing the major roles in it. Shoot for this film is still progressing in Idukki district.

It is said to be a crime thriller story with an unique LJP touch to it. Just like how ‘Jallikattu’ was shot, this one is also filmed with a lot of secrecy with hardly anyone being aware of such a project happening. We hear that vetran Madhu Neelakandan is cranking the camera.

It seems like Aju Varghese is eager to explore new avenues of filmmaking. Despite being a busy actor, Aju had assisted Vineeth Sreenivasan in ‘Jacobinte Swargarajyam’. He had also recently forayed into production with Nivin Pauly-Nayanthara starrer ‘Love Action Drama’. He produced the film jointly with his friend Vishak Subramaniam under their banner Funtastic Films

We hear that Aju Varghese is now set to turn a script writer. Details about his maiden film as a scenarist is not yet known but it is said that Aju is scripting an out and out fun entertainer. An official announcement is expected to be made very shortly.

Meanwhile on the acting front, Aju has some interesting films coming up. He is playing the lead in director Ranjith Sankar’s upcoming thriller ‘Kamala’. He is also playing a grey shaded performance oriented role in ‘Vritham’, directed by actress Gauthami Nair. His new film ‘Adhyrathri’, in which he plays a major role alongside Biju Menon has hit screens today and has opened to good reports.
