Madhavan’s son Vedaant wins silver representing India at Asian Games

Actor Madhavan’s son Vedaant has won silver medal at the Asian Age Group Swimming Championships. The team of Vedaant, Madhavan, Utkarsh Patil, Sahil Laskar and Shoan Ganguly bagged the medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay for group II boys. Vedaant Madhavan (55.27s), Utkarsh Patil (57.10s), Sahil Laskar (54.83s) and Shoan Ganguly (54.29s) clocked a total time of 3:41.49 seconds. They finished behind Japan, who won the gold with a time of 3:34.60 seconds and also set a New Meet Record (NMR). The bronze medal was won by Chinese Taipei.

An elated Madhavan took to his official social media handle to share the happy news. He has written,

Earlier this year, Vedaant had won 3 golds and a silver medal at Junior Nationals Swim. Last year, the 14-year-old Vedaant won his first International medal for India when he bagged a Bronze at Thailand Age Group Swimming Championships in the 1500 m freestyle race.

Meanwhile, Madhavan is working on the post-production of his directorial debut, ‘Rocketry’, the Nambi Narayanan biopic, in which he is also playing the lead. It is an ambitious film made as a multilingual in Tamil, English and Hindi.

As we get closer to the release date of ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’, the makers have been aggressively promoting the film. A new trailer was released online last day and it looks even better than the other one. The highly anticipated period film is also set to hit screens worldwide on October 2.

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ is an epic period film directed by Surender Reddy. It is based on late freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, who fought the British valiantly much before the Sepoy Mutiny. He was eventually hanged to death by the British government.

While Chiranjeevi plays the titular role, the film’s massive star cast also includes popular stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Tamannaah, Ravi Kishan, Niharika, Jagapathi Babu, Brahmaji and Kiccha Sudeep. The film is releasing in four languages – Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi.

Noted writer duo Paruchuri Brothers have written the story and Sai Madhav Burra has penned the dialogues. Screenplay is by director Surendar Reddy himself. Cinematography is handled by Rathnavelu and music is composed by Amit Trivedi. Veteran Sreekar Prasad is the editor.

The big budget film is being produced by Chiranjeevi’s son, actor Ram Charan under the banner of Konidela Production Company.

As ‘Ganagandharvan’ gets ready to hit screens on Friday, the makers have released a new song online. Deepak Dev has composed the song and it is rendered by Jeenu Nazeer and KS Harisankar. The film directed by Ramesh Pisharody is touted to be a fun filled entertainer that has Mammootty playing the lead role of a ‘ganamela’ singer named Kalasadhan Ullas.

Ramesh Pisharody has jointly scripted ‘Ganagandharvan’ with Hari P Nair. Newcomer Vanditha Manoharan plays the female lead. The film also has an elaborate supporting cast comprising of popular actors like Mukesh, Manoj K Jayan, Suresh Krishna, Ashokan, Innocent, Johny Antony, Abu Salim, Salim Kumar, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Hareesh Kanaran, Maniyanpilla Raju, Kalabhavan Prajod, Sunil Sukhada and Arya.

Veteran DOP Azhagappan, music director Deepak Dev and editor Lijo Paul handle the core technical aide. The film is being produced jointly by Anto Joseph, Sree Lakshmi R and Sankar Raj under the banners of Ichais Productions, Anto Joseph Film Company and Ramesh Pisharody Entertainments.

Kalidas Jayaram’s new film ‘Happy Sardar’ is gearing up for release. The movie which marks the debut of writer-director couple Sudip Joshy and Geethika Sudip is shaping up as a fun entertainer. The makers have released the trailer online and it indicates the same. Kalidas plays a Punjabi Sardar named Happy Singh in the film.

‘Happy Sardar’ is a fun entertainer that is centred around a love story between a Punjabi and a Malayali Christian girl. Debutante Merin Philip is paired with Kalidas in the movie. Bollywood actor Javed Jaffrey will be appearing in a prominent role as Kalidas’ father. There is also an elaborate supporting cast comprising of Siddique, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Shanthi Krishna, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Maala Parvathi, Siddhi Mahajankatti, Vishak Nair, Ramesh Pisharody, Dharmajan, Praveena, Baiju and many others.

DOP Abhinandan Ramanujam, composer Gopi Sunder and editor Shameer Muhammed form the movie’s core technical crew. Release date is yet to be announced officially.

‘Oru Kadath Naadan Kadha’, directed by debutant Peter Sajan, revolves around Shanu, a jobless engineering graduate. The story happens in a single day between morning 8 AM and evening 6 PM. Director Peter has scripted the film jointly with Anoop Madhav. Joseph C Mathew has cranked the camera and Alphons Joseph is handling the music department. Project designer Ramdas Thiruvillamala, production controller Sreekumar Chennithala, costumer Sameera Saneesh and makeup man Ranjith Ambady are also part of the technical crew.

Ridesh Kannan is producing the film with Neeranjanam Cinemas.

Shoot completed for Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru

After just around four months of shoot, Suriya’s new film ‘Soorarai Pottru’ has been wrapped up. The film is directed by Sudha Kongara of ‘Irudhi Suttru’ fame. Academy award winner Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment is producing the film with Suriya’s 2D Entertainment. Last day, the team had a small wrap up party, photos of which have been shared online.

‘Soorarai Pottru scripted jointly by Shalini Usha Nair and Sudha Kongara is loosely based on the life of GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan, who is also a retired captain of the Indian army. Suriya appears in multiple looks in the film, which includes a closely cropped hairstyle that reminds of an army man.

Malayali actress Aparna Balamurali is paired with Suriya in the film. Veteran actors Paresh Rawal, Jackie Shroff and Mohan Babu will also be seen essaying prominent roles. The film has camera cranked by Niketh Bommireddy, music by GV Prakash and stunts handled by Hollywood action choreographer Greg Powell. It is expected to hit screens in January during Pongal holidays.

Veteran director Kamal’s new film ‘Pranaya Meenukalude Kadal’ starring a bunch of newcomers is gearing up to hit screens. The makers have confirmed October 4 as the release date. It is a romantic film set in the serene isles of Lakshadweep. Director Kamal has scripted the film along with the company of veteran John Paul.

Gabri Jose, Ridhi Kumar and some other debutants play the lead roles. Vinayakan is also essaying a very prominent role in the film. Dileesh Pothan, Saiju Kurup, Kailas and many others are part of the film’s supporting cast. Its trailer and recently released songs were well received by cinephiles in social medias.

‘Pranaya Meenukalude Kadal’ has Shaan Rahman as the music director and Vishnu Panicker as the cinematographer. Shameer Muhammed is handling the edits. The film is being produced by John Vattakuzhi under the banner of Dani Productions.

Rajeev Ravi to crank camera for Srikanth Murali’s next directorial

Of late, Srikanth Murali has become a familiar face to the Malayali audience. Though he started his career in cinema as an associate to veteran Priyadarshan, he is now a very busy actor. His performance in films like ‘Action Hero Biju’, ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ and ‘Kakshi Amminipilla’ were particularly praiseworthy. Even between his acting commitments, Srikanth is still active as a filmmaker by doing ad films frequently.

After making his directorial debut couple of years back with ‘Aby’, Srikanth Murali is now set to make his sophomore film. We hear that his next film will be the based on Kendra Sahitya Akademi award winner PV Shaji Kumar’s popular short story ‘Katha’. Ace cinematographer Rajeev Ravi will be cranking camera for this film.

Vineeth Sreenivasan’s ‘Manoharam’ has been censored with a clean U certificate. The film is now all set to hit screens this Friday (September 27). The film’s trailer and songs have been well received and has pretty high expectations. ‘Manoharam’ is being directed by Anwar Saddiq, with whom Vineeth Sreenivasan had worked previously in ‘Ormayundo Ee Mukham’.

‘Njan Prakashan’ fame Aparna Das plays the female lead in the film. It also has a good set of supporting actors. Indrans, Basil Joseph, Deepak Parambol, Hareesh Peradi, Kalaranjini, Sreelekshmi, Jude Anthany Joseph, Ahmed Siddique, Nisthar Sait, Manju Sunil, VK Prakash, Delhi Ganesh, Veena Nair and Nandini are part of the film’s cast.

‘Manoharam’ has cinematography by Jebin Jacob and songs composed by Sajeev, who is a former associate of maestro AR Rahman. Samuel Aby is handling the background score and edits are being handled by Nithin Raj. The film is being produced by Jos Chakkalakal of Chakkalakal Films.
