Here’s a new poster of Bigil; Audio launch on Thursday

The makers of Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Bigil’ have formally announced the audio launch date by releasing a new poster. Every year, Vijay fans across Tamil Nadu eagerly await for the audio launch to catch a glimpse of their beloved matinee idol. The star also makes sure it’s a memorable event with his trademark power packed speeches.

This time for ‘Bigil’ also, there is a huge excitement about the audio launch. Add to that, there are also talks able maestro AR Rahman performing the songs live on stage. Bigil’s grand audio launch event has been planned to be held this Thursday (September) 19 in Chennai. It is worth a mention that Vijay has sung a track in the film. The highly energetic track, ‘Verithanam’, that has ‘thara locals’ penned by Vivek has already become a sensational hit.

‘Bigil’ directed by Atlee is a mass entertainer with woman’s football at its crux. The film has Vijay in a double role as a gangster father and his son, who is a footballer-turned-coach. Nayanthara, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Yogi Babu, Vivek, Induja, Varsha Bollamma, Reba Monica John, Daniel Balaji and Anand Raj are also part of the cast. The film is scheduled for a grand Diwali release in October.

It has been a while since Dulquer Salmaan’s Tamil film ‘Vaan’ got announced. The makers even held had a formal pooja function in January but there has been further updates about it since then. Debutant Ra Karthik was announced as the director, with Selva Kumar producing it under the banner of Kenanya Films.

However recently, there were rumours about the film getting dropped as a result of such long delay. It was also reported that the film will be revived later with a new team. Dulquer then came out out with a tweet dismissing all these as baseless rumours. Along with sharing the fake news, the star also urged everyone not to spread such news. His tweet reads,

This is fake news ! Guys kindly don’t spread hearsay or create news just for the sake of it. If there is any announcement along with the makers of any of my films I’ll announce it. And please don’t tag or drag actors or technicians into these false news items.

‘Vaan’ was originally planned as a romantic travelogue with three female leads. Kalyani Priyadarshan, Kriti Kharbanda and Priya Bhavani Shankar were the names associated with the film but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Nayanthara’s new film ‘Netrikann’ went on floors last day in Chennai. Milind Rau of ‘Aval’ fame is directing the film. It is being produced by the actress’ boyfriend and promising filmmaker Vignesh Shivan. His newly launched banner Rowdy Pictures is backing the film.

Interestingly, ‘Netrikann’ is the official remake of ‘Blind’, a popular Korean thriller film. The story is about a talented woman cadet at the police academy who loses her eye sight after a horrific car accident. Years later, she solves a murder case with the help of her dog and her strong skills in detecting senses.

Kim Ha-neul played the lead role in ‘Blind’ and her performance was widely appreciated. She received Best Actress honors at the 48th Grand Bell Awards and the 32nd Blue Dragon Film Awards for her performance.

‘Netrikann’ as been adapted to suit the sensibilities of the native Tamil audience. It is still a very challenging role for Nayanthara and it will be interesting to see how she performs it. The film has a bunch of talents in the technical side. It has cinematography by Karthik Ganesh, music by Girishh and edits by Lawrence Kishore.

After doing its rounds at the film festivals, Shane Nigam starrer ‘Olu’ is finally set to have its theatrical release on this Friday (September 20). Directed by theegendary Shaji N Karun, this fantasy film has Shane and Esther Anil in the lead roles. Olu, which means she, is the tale of a Gypsy girl who mysteriously survives under the backwaters where she has been sunk by her rapists.

Only during full moon nights, can she see the world above the water. It is on such a night that she happens to ‘meet’ Vasu, a young untalented painter, rowing his boat. Out of love, she empowers him to create paintings that will change his life. But their contrasting inner visions of love may remain unbridgeable.

It is a fascinating story that has several layers like most of Shaji N Karun’s earlier acclaimed films. TD Ramakrishnan has scripted the film. The cast also includes Indrans, Kani Kasthuri and Maya Menon. Late cinematographer MJ Radhakrishnan has shot the film. His outstanding work in the film had won him a National award this year.

Last day we had reported about Jayasurya and Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari coming together for a musical love story. The film has been titled as ‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ and it will be directed by debutant Naranipuzha Shanavas. Vijay Babu of Friday Film House is producing the film, shoot which is scheduled to begin on September 20.

‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ has been scripted by director Naranipuzha Shanavas himself. He is the twelfth director to be introduced by Friday Film House. Vijay Babu has pinned high hopes this film. He believes that ‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ has the potential to be the best film to be produced by his banner.

Announcing the film by sharing the title poster through his social media handle, Vijay Babu has written,

It has a wonderful script . A good writer / director ( our 12th introduction ) . The best music director , highly talented DOP & editor along with a super team .

‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ is Aditi Rao’s second film in Malayalam. Her acting debut was in Malayalam with the Mammootty starrer ‘Prajapathi’, which got released back in 2006. She is popular for her roles in films like ‘Murder 3’, ‘Kaatru Veliyidai’ and ‘Padmaavat’.

‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ also stars Siddique, Hareesh Kanaran, Vijay Babu, Mamukkoya, Manikandan Pattambi, Kalaranjini and ‘Thamaasha’ fame Navas Vallikkunnu in supporting roles. ‘Athiran’ fame Anu Moothedath has been signed as the cinematographer, Deepu Joseph as the editor and veteran M Jayachandran for handling the music department.

As reported by us earlier, Tovino Thomas will be teaming up with cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Sujith Vaassudev for a new film titled ‘Forensic’. The film has been in the pre-production stage for some time now and is now getting ready to go on floors next month. The makers have signed Mamta Mohandas as the female lead. The actress, who is known to be selective with her projects, will be sharing screen space with Tovino for the first time in ‘Forensic’.

This is Sujith’s third film as a director after ‘James and Alice’ and ‘Autorsha’. He had earlier worked with Tovino as a cinematographer in ‘7th Day’ and ‘Lucifer’. ‘Forensic’ is basically the reunion of the ‘7th Day’ trio of Sujith, Tovino and scriptwriter Akhil Paul. Akhil has scripted this movie jointly with Anas Khan.

‘Forensic’ is being produced by Navis Xavier and Siju Mathew under the banner of Juvis Productions in association with Raju Malliath of Ragam Movies.

It seems like the makers of ‘Kurup’ are pulling off a massive casting coup. The Srinath Rajendran directorial already has Dulquer Salmaan, Indrajith Sukumaran and Shine Tom Chacko as part of the cast. Tovino Thomas and Sunny Wayne are also said to be acting in the film. Latest to join the team is Bollywood actress Sobhita Dhulipala.

Sobhita made her acting debut with the Anurag Kashyap film ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’. She later acted in notable roles in ‘Kaalakaandi’, ‘Chef’ and ‘Goodachari’. It was the Amazon Prime original series ‘Made In Heaven’ that made her a big star with solid acting skills. ‘Kurup’ is actually Sobhita’s second Malayalam film. Her Malayalam debut was ‘Moothon’, in which she played a prominent role as a prostitute.

‘Kurup’ which has Dulquer Salmaan in the titular role is based on the the life of Kerala’s most wanted criminal, Sukumara Kurup. It is being produced by the star’s own production house, Wayfarer Films and M Stars.

Veteran Malayalam actor Sathar passes away

Malayalam actor Sathar passed away at a private hospital in Aluva on Tuesday morning. The 67-year-old was undergoing treatment for liver related ailments for some time now. His funeral will be be held on Tuesday evening at Padinjare Juma Masjid, Kodungallur.

Sathar was one of the most busiest Malayalam actors in the 1970s and 80s. He made his debut with ‘Bharyaye Avashyamundu’ in 1975 and became a hero next year in ‘Anavaranam’. Though Sathar started his career as a hero, he was more famous for his negative roles. He has also produced a few films.

Besides Malayalam, Sathar has acted in a few Tamil and Telugu films as well. He has acted in almost 300 movies across all three languages. Sathar was last seen in ‘Onnum Onnum Moonu’, an anthology film released in 2015. On his comeback, he was noted for his role in the Aashiq Abu directorial ’22 Female Kottayam’.

Sathar got married to popular actress Jayabharathi in 1979 but later got seperated. Their son Krish J. Sathaar is also an actor, who made his debut with the Mohanlal starrer ‘Ladies and Gentleman’.

Talented young filmmaker Karthick Naren of ‘Dhuruvangal 16’ fame is teaming up with Arun Vijay for a new film titled ‘Mafia’. Its teaser has just been released online and it looks highly promising. Recently, superstar Rajinikanth had watched the teaser and appreciated Karthick Naren for his work.

‘Mafia’ is a reportedly crime thriller that features an extremely stylish looking Arun Vijay in the lead. Along with him, the movie also stars Prasanna in a major role. Priya Bhavani Shankar, noted for her roles in movies like ‘Meyaadha Maan’, ‘Kadaikutty Singam’ and the more recent ‘Monster’, plays the female lead.

‘Mafia’ has been conceived as a franchise, as is evident from the tagline ‘Athiyayam- 1’, which means ‘Chapter- 1’. Lyca Productions, one of the leading banners in Kollywood, is producing the film. Shoot has already been completed and the makers are planning to release the film this year itself.

‘Soorarai Pottru directed by Sudha Kongara is loosely based on the life of GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan, who is also a retired captain of the Indian army.
