Jayasurya and Aditi Rao Hydari to pair up for a musical love story!

Jayasurya and Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari are coming together for a musical love story. The film reportedly titled as ‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ will be directed by debutant Naranipuzha Shanavas. Vijay Babu of Friday Film House is producing the film, which is scheduled to start rolling later this month.

Aditi Rao Hydari is well known for her roles in films like ‘Murder 3’, ‘Kaatru Veliyidai’ and ‘Padmaavat’. ‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ is Aditi’s second film in Malayalam. It must be noted that her acting debut was in Malayalam with the Mammootty starrer ‘Prajapathi’, which got released back in 2006.

‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ also stars Siddique, Hareesh Kanaran, Vijay Babu, Mamukkoya, Manikandan Pattambi, Kalaranjini and ‘Thamaasha’ fame Navas Vallikkunnu in prominent roles. On the technical front, ‘Athiran’ fame Anu Moothedath has been signed as the cinematographer and veteran M Jayachandran will be handling the music department.

Here’s the first look poster of Shakuntala Devi biopic

As reported by us earlier, a biopic on renowned mathematician Shakuntala Devi is getting made in Hindi. Vidya Balan is starring in the film, which is set to be directed by Anu Menon. Vikram Malhotra of Abundantia Entertainment and Sony Pictures Network are jointly producing the film. Its first look poster has just been released online.

Shakuntala Devi was popularly called as the ‘Human Computer’. Her extraordinary skill in solving complex mathematical problems earned her a place in the 1982 edition of The Guinness Book of World Records. She has also written a number of books, including novels as well as texts about mathematics, puzzles, and astrology.

Shakuntala Devi wrote the book ‘The World of Homosexuals’, which is considered the first study of homosexuality in India. She treated homosexuality in an understanding light and is considered a pioneer in the field. It will be interesting to see Vidya Balan, arguably the finest female actor in the country, bring life to such a legendary person.

Anu Menon and Nayanika Mahtani have scripted the film, with dialogues by Ishita Moitra. Shoot will be beginning shortly and the film is planned as a summer release next year.

Sreenath Bhasi and Balu Varghese to star in ‘Sumesh & Ramesh’

Sreenath Bhasi and Balu Varghese, the first options for buddy characters in Malayalam, are coming together as leads for the first time. Titled as ‘Sumesh & Ramesh’, this new film will be directed by directed by Sanoop Thykoodam. Last day, its official announcement was made by releasing the title poster online.

Sanoop, one of the co-writers of ‘Chunkzz’, is making his directorial debut with this film. It is expected to be a youthful fun entertainer. Along Sanoop, ‘Sumesh & Ramesh’ is jointly scripted by Joseph Vijeesh, also one of the writers of ‘Chunkzz’. The film has Alby as the DOP and Ayoob Khan as the editor. The talented duo of Yakzan Gary Periera and Neha Nair will be handling the music department.

‘Sumesh and Ramesh’ is produced by Fareed Khan under the banner of White Sands Media House. KL 7 Entertainments is also involved in the film’s production. Shoot has been planned to begin shortly.

Here’s the first single from Shane Nigam starrer Valiya Perunnal

‘Valiya Perunnal’ is one of the most secretive films made in Malayalam recent times. Hardly anything is known about the film but there has always been a buzz around it. The movie is now gearing up to hit screens next month. Last day, the makers released the first single online. The track is sung by Saju Sreenivas and Suchith Suresan. Saju has also written the lyrics and composed the song. Rex Vijayan has mixed and arranged it.

Starring Shane Nigam, Soubin Shahir and Joju George, ‘Valiya Perunnal’ is directed by debutant Dimal Dennis. Dimal has also scripted the film jointly with Thasreeq Abdul Salam. Shane Nigam plays the lead role of a dancer in this Fort Kochi based film.

Its core technical free includes ‘Thottappan’ cinematographer Suresh Rajan, composer Rex Vijayan and editor Vivek Harshan. Monisha Rajeev is producing the film under the banner of Magic Mountain Cinemas and hit maker Anwar Rasheed will be presenting it. The makers have announced October 18 as the release date.

Vijay Antony also part of Mammootty-Nayanthara film?

For a while now, there have been several reports about Mammootty, Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara coming together for a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual. It will reportedly be directed by debutant Vipin. Latest buzz is that Vijay Antony will be replacing Sethupathi in the film. Although Mammootty and Nayanthara have acted together in a few films, Vijay Antony has not yet shared screen space with either of them. Even though an official word is yet to be made, it is said that shoot for this biggie will start by the end of this year.

Mammootty is currently shooting for Ajai Vasudev’s ‘Shylock’. After its completion, he will start shooting for ‘One’, which is to be directed by Santhosh Vishwanathan of ‘Chirakodinja Kinavukal’ fame. The star’s next release is ‘Ganagandharavan’. ‘Mamangam’ with M Padmakumar, ‘Ameer’ with Vinod Vijayan and ‘Bilal’ with Amal Neerad are some of his other upcoming projects.

Nayanthara, meanwhile, is also occupied with multiple projects. She is part of Vijay-Atlee team’s ‘Bigil’, Rajinikanth’s ‘Darbar’ and Chiranjeevi’s ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’. Recently, she also started shooting for her new film ‘Netrikann’, directed by ‘Aval’ fame Milind Raju.

There is a buzz going around within the industry that young Malayali actor Kalidas Jayaram has been approached to play a role in Tamil superstar Vijay’s next. Though there is no confirmation regarding this yet, it will be a huge booster for Kalidas if he has indeed bagged a role in a Vijay starrer. It must be noted that the youngster is a self confessed fan of Vijay and has mimicked the star in several stage shows. Kalidas has also acted in a couple of Tamil films – ‘Meen Kuzhambum Mann Paanayum’ and ‘Oru Pakka Kathai’ (unreleased).

Meanwhile, it is almost confirmed that another Malayali actor, Antony Varghese of ‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame is part of Vijay’s upcoming film to be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Tentatively titled as ‘Thalapathy 64’, the film is said to be a gangster thriller, that will be in contrast to the widely appealing mass entertainers that Vijay most often does. It is not yet known if Kalidas has been approached for this same film. Shoot for the film is planned to begin next month and it is scheduled as an April 2020 release.

Kalidas Jayaram meanwhile is working on his new Malayalam film ‘Backpack’, which is being directed by the multiple National award winner Jayaraj.

Confirmed: Shane Nigam set to make his Tamil debut with this National award winner’s next

Within a very short span of time, Shane Nigam has established himself as one of the most promising actors of this generation in Malayalam. The consecutive success of his films like ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ and ‘Ishq’ have made him a bankable star as well. He presently has a handful of projects in Malayalam, and besides that he is set to make his Tamil debut as well.

Shane Nigam’s maiden Tamil film will be directed by Seenu Ramasamy. The actor revealed this during an exclusive interview with Onlookers Media. Shane has pinned high hopes on the film and added that he will start working on it by the end of this year. Other details regarding the film is expected to be officially announced shortly.

Seenu Ramasamy is a National award winning filmmaker, known for his films like ‘Thenmerku Paruvakaatru’, ‘Neerparavai’ and ‘Dharma Durai’. His second film ‘Thenmerku Paruvakaatru’ won three National Film Awards, including the award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. The director is currently busy with the post-production works of his highly anticipated film ‘Maamanithan’, starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead.

Check out the new trailer of Suriya-Mohanlal starrer Kaappaan

While ‘Kaappaan’ gets ready to hit screens on next Friday (September 20), the makers have released a new trailer online. This much-awaited biggie directed by KV Anand has a stellar star cast, which includes two of South cinema’s biggest stars – Mohanlal and Suriya.

The film has Mohanlal playing the role of India’s Prime Minister. His character is named as Chandrakanth Varma and it is said to be a grey-shaded role. Suriya essays the role of a high-rank NSG officer, who is in charge of the PM’s security.

From the promos and trailer, ‘Kaappaan’ looks like a typical KV Anand style film with action, comedy, thrills, romance, dance. Its cast also includes Arya, Sayyeshaa, Boman Irani, Shamna Kasim and Samuthirakani in major roles. Arya reportedly plays the role of Mohanlal’s son in the film. Sayyeshaa is paired with Suriya and Shamna essays the part of Samuthirakani’s wife.

Lyca Productions is backing ‘Kaappaan’. Besides Tamil, the film is also releasing in Telugu as ‘Bandobast’. Both the versions are likely to hit screens simultaneously on September 20.

The trailer of Sivakarthikeyan’s new film ‘Namma Veettu Pillai’ was shared just a while back in social medias. The film is directed by Pandiraj and it is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures. Anu Emmanuel is paired with Sivakarthikeyan in the film, which also has a huge set of supporting actors.

Aishwarya Rajesh, who had earlier worked with Sivakarthikeyan in ‘Kanaa’, is playing his sister in this movie. Others in the cast include Bharathiraja, Samuthirakani, Aadukalam Naren, Natarajan Subramaniam aka Natty, Shanmugarajan, RK Suresh, Vela Ramamoorthi, Arundhathi, Sheela Rajkumar, Yogi Babu and Soori. The movie has music by D Imman, cinematography by Nirav Shah and edits handled by Antony Ruben.

Director Pandiraj is a National award winner well known for his films like ‘Pasanga’, ‘Kathakali’ and ‘Kadaikutty Singam’. He has previously worked with Sivakarthikeyan in ‘Marina’ and ‘Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga’. Expectations will be high when he reunites with Sivakarthikeyan, who is a much bigger star now.

Prithviraj’s next with Kottayam Nazeer will be a mass entertainer

We had recently reported about Kottayam Nazeer planning to turn a director. He had recently narrated a script to Prithviraj and we hear that the actor has committed for it. Apparently, Nazeer is planning a mass entertainer with Prithviraj. However, they have still not decided about when to start shooting as the actor has a long list of projects coming up.

It was during the recently held get together event of ‘Brother’s Day’ that Prithviraj revealed about Kottayam Nazeer pitching a script to him. He recalled it as a surprisingly good one. It is worth a mention that Nazeer had earlier directed a short film named ‘Kuttichan’. It remains to be seen how his feature film debut shapes up.

Prithviraj is currently shooting for ‘Driving Licence’, directed by Jean Paul Lal. After its completion, he will start working on Sachi’s ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’. He has also committed for a project each with Rathish Ambat, and Irshad Parari. Blessy’s ‘Aadujeevitham’ also has a bulk of portions left to be shot. Next year, Prithviraj will also start working on his sophomore directorial ‘Empuraan’, which has superstar Mohanlal in the lead.
