Malavika Mohanan to play the female lead in Thalapathy 64?

As we already know, Vijay’s next after ‘Bigil’ will be directed by the two-film-old Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film is said to be a completely different attempt from the usual mass entertainers that Vijay does. The makers of ‘Thalapathy 64’ are currently in talks with actors like Vijay Sethupathi and Malavika Mohanan to play important roles in the film. While Sethupathi is being considered to play the villain’s part, Malavika has apparently been approached to pair up with Vijay.

Malavika is the latest Indian sensation in the internet world. Though she has done a very few films, Malavika enjoys a tremendous fan base courtesy her gorgeous looks and her seductive Instagram photos. The actress was recently cast in the Vijay Deverakonda starrer ‘Hero’, but it is now learnt that the film has been shelved due to some creative differences within the time.

Meanwhile ‘Thalapathy 64’ is getting ready to go on floors next month. Malayalam actor Antony Varghese is also said to be a part of the film. Anirudh Ravichander has been signed as the composer and Xavier Britto is producing the film. It is scheduled as a summer release next year.

Sobhita Dhulipala starts shooting for Kurup!

Srinath Rajendran’s ambitious film ‘Kurup’ based on the life of Kerala’s most wanted criminal, Sukumara Kurup is currently under progress. The film already has Dulquer Salmaan, Indrajith Sukumaran and Shine Tom Chacko as part of the cast. Tovino Thomas and Sunny Wayne are also said to be acting in the film. Bollywood actress Sobhita Dhulipala is the latest addition to the cast and she has already started shooting for the film.

Sobhita made her acting debut with the Anurag Kashyap directorial ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’. She later did notable roles in ‘Kaalakaandi’, ‘Chef’ and ‘Goodachari’. It was the Amazon Prime orginal series ‘Made In Heaven’ that made her a big star courtesy her solid acting skills. ‘Kurup’ is actually Sobhita’s second Malayalam film. Her maiden outing in Malayalam was ‘Moothon’, which is getting ready for theatrical release.

‘Kurup’ is being produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s own production house, Wayfarer Films and M Stars. Nimish Ravi of ‘Luca’ fame is cranking the camera and Sushin Shyam handles the music department. National award winning editor Vivek Harshan and art director Banglan are also part of the technical crew.

The eagerly awaited trailer of Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi’s 151st film ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ has just been released. The trailer is our in four languages – Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. The trailer is packed with powerful moments that has glimpses of the extraordinary scale at which the film has been made.

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ is an epic period film directed by Surender Reddy. It is based on late freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, who fought the British valiantly much before the Sepoy Mutiny. He was eventually hanged to death by the British government. While Chiranjeevi plays the titular role, the film’s huge star cast also includes Amitabh Bachchan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Tamannaah, Ravi Kishan, Niharika, Jagapathi Babu, Brahmaji and Kiccha Sudeep.

Noted writer duo Paruchuri Brothers have penned the story and Sai Madhav Burra has written the dialogues. Screenplay is by director Surendar Reddy himself. Cinematography is handled by Rathnavelu and music is composed by Amit Trivedi. Sreekar Prasad is the editor. The film is being produced by Chiranjeevi’s son, actor Ram Charan under the banner of Konidela Production Company.

Unakaga: Check out this new romantic song from Bigil

As announced earlier, the grand audio launch event of Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film ‘Bigil’ will be held tomorrow (August 18) in Chennai. Meanwhile, the makers have released the third single from the film online. Titled as ‘Unakaga’, it is a romantic track featuring the lead pair -Vijay and Nayanthara. It is after a long gap that the duo is acting together but they still look fresh. They previously shared screen space a decade back in the Prabhudeva directorial ‘Villu’.

‘Bigil’ directed by Atlee is a mass entertainer with woman’s football at its crux. The film has Vijay in a double role as a gangster father and his son, who is a footballer-turned-coach. The film also has a big star cast comprising of Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Yogi Babu, Vivek, Induja, Varsha Bollamma, Reba Monica John, Daniel Balaji, Anand Raj and many others.

‘Bigil’ is scheduled for a grand Deepavali release in October.

Sudha Kongara, Gautham Menon and Vetrimaaran will be helminh the othee segments in the four-part anthology film. Vignesh Shivan is expected to start working on his SivaKarthikeyan film once the star is free from his other commitments.

Tamil cinema is witnessing some interesting collaborations of late. South superstars Mohanlal and Suriya recently came together for ‘Kaappaan’. Rajinikanth’s ‘Petta’ had a plethora of stars. Now it looks like Vijay’s next film (Thalapathy 64) is also shaping up as a star studded one. The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial already has high expectations among the Tamil audience.

Apparently, the makers are in talks with Vijay Sethupathi to play the antagonist’s role in the film. The ‘Pizza’ actor is yet to sign the dotted lines but it will be quite huge if he indeed comes on board. Vijay Sethupathi has done negative roles in several films in the past including ‘Petta’. So he won’t be really bothered about sharing screen space with another big star.

Also, Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi have not acted together yet. If things turn out well, the audience will get to witness a truly mouthwatering contest where the stars will be locking horns with each other. ‘Thalapathy 64’ is reportedly a gangster flick that will be completely different from the usual mass entertainers that Vijay does.

Shane Nigam to team up with Thaneermathan Dhinangal makers!

Promising young Malayalam star Shane Nigam has some very exciting projects coming up. One of them is ‘Khalb’, which will be directed by Sajid Yahiya. Shane revealed this during an exclusive chat with Onlookers Media. Jomon T John, Shameer Muhammed and Shebin Becker will be jointly producing the film. The trio last produced the teenage-comedy ‘Thaneermathan Dhinangal’, that has emerged as a sensational blockbuster.

Sajid Yahiya had previously directed ‘Inspector Dawood Ibrahim’ aka ‘IDI’ and ‘Mohanlal’. Both the films were flops that failed to impress both the critics and the common audience. So the director will be hoping for a change in fortunes this time. Apparently, Shane has pinned high hopes on the film. More details regarding ‘Khalb’ is expected to be officially announced soon.

Shane meanwhile has ‘Olu’ set for theatrical release this Friday (September 20). His long delayed ‘Valiya Perunnal’ is also getting ready to hit screens next month.

Its first look poster was released just a while back and one can easily say that it’s one of the best poster designs to come out for a Malayalam film. Along with Soubin, ‘Android Kunjappan Version 5.25’ also stars Suraj Venjaramoodu and Saiju Kurup in major roles. Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval has previously worked as a production designer in Bollywood films like ‘Force’, ‘Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota’ and ‘Badhaai Ho’. For his directorial debut, he has got a formidable technical crew.

Sanu John Varughese, who has worked in films like ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’, ‘Wazir’ and the ‘Vishwaroopam’ series is handling the camera. Bijibal is the music director and Saiju Sreedharan is editing the film. Santhosh T Kuruvilla of Moonshot Entertainment is producing the movie.

Shane Nigam starrer ‘Olu’ is set release this Friday (September 20). Directed by the legendary Shaji N Karun, this fantasy film has Shane and ‘Drishyam’ fame Esther Anil in the lead roles. Olu, which means she, is the tale of a Gypsy girl who mysteriously survives under the backwaters where she has been sunk by her rapists. Only during full moon nights, can she see the world above the water. It is on such a night that she happens to ‘meet’ Vasu, a young untalented painter, rowing his boat.

Shane plays the role of this painter who is in search of his muse. Out of love, she empowers him to create paintings that will change his life. But their contrasting inner visions of love may remain unbridgeable. It is a fantasy story written by Shaji N Karun and has several layers like most of the director’s earlier acclaimed films. TD Ramakrishnan has penned the screenplay.

The cast also includes Indrans, Kani Kasthuri and Maya Menon. Late cinematographer MJ Radhakrishnan has shot the film. His outstanding work in the film had won him a National award this year. Issac Thomas Kottukapally is the music director and Sreekar Prasad has handled the edits.

Acclaimed filmmaker Bala to produce Joseph in Tamil

Joju George starrer ‘Joseph’ was one of the most talked about films in Malayalam last year. Directed by M Padmakumar, the film was about a retired policeman finding out the mystery behind his ex-wife’s death. Joju’s performance in the film was widely appreciated and he deservingly won a Special Jury Mention in National Awards and the Kerala State award for Best Character Actor.

As per latest reports, ‘Joseph’ is getting remade in Tamil. Producer-turned-actor RK Suresh will be playing the lead role in the film. M Padmakumar, who directed the Malayalam version, will be helming the Tamil remake as well, thus marking his K-Town debut. The film will be produced by acclaimed filmmaker Bala.

It is worth a mention that RK Suresh debuted as an actor with the Bala directorial ‘Tharai Thappattai’. He has acted in a few Malayalam films as well like ‘Shikkari Shambu’ and ‘Madhura Raja’. For the Joseph remake, Suresh will be appearing in two looks and will be gaining lot of weight to suit the demands of the character.

The makers have planned to start shooting in November and it has been scheduled as a March 2020 release. More details are expected to be revealed along with the formal announcement.
