Antony Varghese and Chemban Vinod to act together once again after Jallikattu

Antony Varghese and Chemban Vinod Jose are set to team up for the next directorial of Jiju Asokan. The filmmaker’s debut film ‘Urumbukal Urangarilla’ was an interesting thriller that got noted by the audience. Chemban was a part of that film as well. Jiju’s new film is also a thriller and script works for the same are currently in the finishing stages. An official announcement with entire details regarding title, supporting cast, crew and when shoot begins is expected to be made soon.

Jiju’s new film will mark the fourth time collaboration of Antony Varghese and Chemban Vinod Jose. It was the latter who introduced Antony through his maiden script ‘Angamaly Diaries’. Later, they had also acted together in ‘Swathanthryam Ardharthriyil’ and ‘Jallikattu’.

Currently, both the actors have multiple projects lined up. Chemban is part of Lijo Jose Palissery’s new untitled film, ‘Idi Mazha Kaattu’, ‘Puzhikkadakan’ and ‘Big Brother’. Antony, on the other hand, has ‘Aanaparambile World Cup’ and a film each with Tinu Pappachan and debutant Nithish Sahadev in the pipeline. He is also likely to make his Tamil debut with ‘Thalapathy 64’.

Post ‘Joseph’, Joju George has been on a different league with several promising projects lined up for him. His recent release ‘Porinju Mariam Jose’ is getting excellent response at the box office. Meanwhile, during its promotions, Joju revealed that he has high hopes on his upcoming movie, ‘Valiya Perunnal’, also starring Shane Nigam and Soubin Shahir.

When asked about his most favorite Malayalam film this year, Joju said it was ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ but immediately added that ‘Valiya Perunnal’ has all the potential to be an even better one. It is being directed by debutant Dimal Dennis. The movie has been in the making for a long time now and was supposed to release much earlier.

Scripted by Dimal and Thasreeq Abdul Salam, it is said to be a Fort Kochi based story in which Shane Nigam plays the lead role of a dancer. Its core technical crew includes ‘Thottappan’ cinematographer Suresh Rajan, music director Rex Vijayan and editor Vivek Harshan. Monisha Rajeev is producing the film under the banner of Magic Mountain Cinemas and hit maker Anwar Rasheed will be presenting it.

The makers have announced that it will be releasing in October however the exact date has not yet been given.

The recently released trailer of Dulquer Salmaan’s new Hindi film, ‘The Zoya Factor’ has opened to excellent response all over. The actor is winning over the North Indian audience with his charm and good looks. The movie directed by Abhishek Sharma is the adaptation of Anuja Chauhan’s 2008 best seller novel of the same name. Sonam Kapoor plays the titular role of Zoya in it. Fox Star Studios and Adlabs Films are jointly funding the movie, which is slated for a worldwide release on September 20.

Anuja Chauhan’s novel has Shah Rukh Khan making an appearance at a crucial juncture. So when Sonam and Dulquer were asked if SRK is part of the film as well, both the actors hinted the same. Sonam responded positively and said, “We see a bit of Shah Rukh Khan and a bit of someone else as well”. However, Dulquer quickly stepped in to add, “I think we should leave some surprises for the audience.”

‘The Zoya Factor’ revolves around Zoya Singh Solanki, a PR executive, who was born on the exact moment when the Indian cricket team won the 1983 World Cup. She is considered as a lucky charm by the Indian team and media. While everyone around consider Zoya lucky, the team’s captain Nikhil Khoda doesn’t believe in it since he relies only on the team’s performance. Zoya keeps clashing with the Indian skipper, and what follows is a love-hate relationship between the two. Dulquer essays Nikhil Khoda’s role in the movie.

Tovino Thomas commits for a new film titled ‘Bhoomi’

Tovino Thomas’ busy days continue as he is doing back to back films. The actor already has over five projects already lined up and he has now committed for a new film titled ‘Bhoomi’. It will be directed by debutant Alby, with whom Tovino had earlier announced another film named ‘Joe’.

Alby’s debut film, ‘Starring Pournami’, which was shelved halfway, was also supposed to have Tovino in a major role alongside Sunny Wayne. The same team of ‘Starring Pournami’ comprising of music director Kailas Menon, cinematographer Sinu Sidharth and sound designers Vishnu Govind had planned to come together for ‘Joe’. But it is now reported that ‘Joe’ has also been dropped and they will instead start working on ‘Bhooomi’. Other details regarding the same are not yet known.

Tovino currently has ‘Edakkad Battalion 06’ coming up. The film is being directed by debutant Swapnesh K Nair. Actor-writer P Balachandran has scripted the film. Samyuktha Menon plays the female lead. Some of Tovino’s other announced projects are ‘Forensic’, ‘Minnal Murali’, Aaravam’, ‘563 St Charles Street’ and ‘Pallichattambi’.

After the success of ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’, director Rosshan Andrrews is back with his next. His new film has been titled as ‘Prathi Poovankozhi’ and it is based on Unni R’s book of the same name. Unni himself has penned the screenplay. It will be produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Sri Gokulam Films. The movie’s title poster has been released online.

Joju George and Anusree were earlier reported to be part of the cast. However, the makers are yet to confirm this. So let’s wait for an official word from their side. Unni R’s story is actually a satire that looks into the current socio-political setting from a different perspective. It will be interesting to see how Rosshan gives a cinematic approach to this.

‘Prathi Poovankozhi’ will have cinematography by G Balamurugan and music handled by Gopi Sunder, who is a regular in Rosshan’s films.

Chemban Vinod, Sreenath Bhasi, Sabumon and Senthil Rajamani team up for Idi Mazha Kaattu

Its raining multi-starrers in Malayalam cinema, and latest to join the club is ‘Idi Mazha Kaattu’. Debutant Ambili S Rengan is directing the film that has Chemban Vinod Jose, Sreenath Bhasi, Sabumon Abdusamad, Senthil Rajamani and Sujith Shankar in the lead roles. This is the first time all these actors are coming together, so it will be interesting to see them sharing screen space. The film was officially announced last day with the release of its title poster. Vibe Arts is producing the film and it will be released by Century.

‘Idi Mazha Kaattu’ has its story and dialogues penned by Amal. He has also written the screenplay jointly with director Ambili S Rengan. Roopesh Shaji is the cinematographer and Manoj will be handling the edits. Gowri Lekshmi will be writing the lyrics as well as composing songs in the film. Background score will be handled by her and Ganesh Venkitaramani.

As reported by us earlier, Indrajith Sukumaran is starring in a sports flick titled ‘Aaha’. It is based on Kerala’s own sport, ‘tug of war’ aka ‘vadamvali’. Debutant Bibin Paul Samuel is editing and directing the film. Tobit Chirayath has scripted the film, which is said to be inspired from a famous team ‘Aaha Neeloor’ that had won an astonishing 72 matches out of the 73 they played in the 2008 season.

‘Aaha’ also stars ‘Vaarikuzhiyile Kolapathakam’ fame Amit Chakalakkal and Ashwin K Kumar in major roles. Santhy Balachandran of ‘Tharangam’ fame has been signed as the female lead. The film has a relatively new set of names behind the camera. Cinematographer Rahul Balachandran, music directors Sayanora Philip and Shiyad Kabeer (background score) are part of the technical crew.

‘Aaha’ is being produced by Prem Abraham of Zsa Zsa Productions. More details will be revealed by the makers in the coming days.

Even before the theatrical release of ‘Jallikattu’, director Lijo Jose Pellissery has started shooting for his new film. Earlier, Joju George and Chemban Vinod Jose were confirmed as part of the cast. Now we hear that Soubin Shahir, Vinay Forrt and Dileesh Pothan are also starring in it. Except for Chemban, none of the others have acted in Lijo’s films. So it is sets up for an interesting collaboration. Shoot for this yet-to-be titled film is currently progressing in Idukki district. Veteran Madhu Neelakandan is cranking the camera. More details will be announced by the makers shortly.

Meanwhile, Lijo’s long awaited ‘Jallikattu’ is set to have its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The festival is scheduled to be held from September 5-15. The film has Antony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose, Santhy Balachandran and Sabumon Abdusamad in major roles. After its festival screening, the film is likely to have its worldwide theatrical release in October.

Priyadarshan’s magnum opus ‘Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham’ is currently in the post-production phase. The makers have roped in Rahul Raj to compose background score for this epic film. Rahul has been away from films for over a year as he was busy doing his Masters in scoring at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Valencia. ‘Marakkar’ os probably the first film after the completion of his post graduation. He has earlier worked in several hit films like ‘Chotta Mumbai’, ‘Ritu’, ‘Hey Jude’ etc.

Last day, Rahul took to his official social media handle to thank Priyadarshan for making him a part of ‘Marakkar’. The flick is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. While Mohanlal plays the titular role, the cast also includes several other big stars from across the country. Suniel Shetty, Arjun Sarja, Keerthy Suresh, Ashok Selvan, Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Prabhu, Mukesh, Fazil, Siddique, Manju Warrier, Baburaj, Nedumudi Venu, Hareesh Perady, Nandu, Innocent, Ganesh Kumar, Suresh Kumar and many others are part of the film.

‘Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham’ is said to be made on a budget of around Rs 100 crores. Mohanlal’s Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are jointly producing the movie. Since it is a VFX heavy film, it demands extensive post-production. A Los Angeles based company is handling the VFX works. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the film will hit screens on March 26, 2020.

Actor Jayasurya’s is celebrating his birthday today and wishes are pouring in from all corners. Actors like Soubin Shahir, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Kunchacko Boban Anu Sithara and many others have wished through their social media handles. Meanwhile, the makers of Jayasurya’s new film ‘Thrissur Pooram’ have released the first look. The poster features Jayasurya in a ‘mass’ look along with Manu, Manikuttan, Murugan and another actor.

‘Thrissur Pooram’ is being directed by Rajesh Mohanan and is produced by Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House. Music director Ratheesh Vega is debuting as scriptwriter with this movie, which is touted to be an action-packed mass entertainer. It has Jayasurya playing a larger-than-life character named Pullu Giri. Swathi Reddy plasy the female lead and she will be seen as Jayasurya’s wife.

‘Thrissur Pooram’ is shaping up as the most expensive film in Jayasurya’s career. As per the makers, the film is structured just like the real Pooram festival. It is divided into several chapters each signifying the various stages of the festival. Senthil Krishna of ‘Chalakkudikaran Changathi’ fame reportedly plays the villain. Sabumon Abdusamad, Vijay Babu, Gayathri Arun, Mallika Sukumaran and Sreejith Ravi are also part of the supporting cast.

‘Thrissur Pooram’ has cinematography by veteran RD Rajasekhar and edits by Deepu Joseph. Besides scripting, Ratheesh Vega is handling the music department as well.
