Ajay Devgn to play the villain role in Thala 60?

After the success of ‘Nerkonda Paaravai’, Ajith and director H Vinoth are set to team up once again. Bollywood based producer Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios are jointly producing the movie, which has been tentatively titled as ‘Thala 60’. Shoot for the movie is scheduled to begin by the end of this month.

‘Thala 60’ is planned as an action thriller that will be shot extensively in foreign countries. Reportedly, the makers are in talks with Bollywood star Ajay Devgn to play the antagonist in this film. An official confirmation is yet to be made but it will definitely be huge if Devgn agrees to be part of the film. It must be remember that he is also starring in another South Indian film – SS Rajamouli’s upcoming biggie that has Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Ajith plays a bike racer in ‘Thala 60’. Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor, daughter of late Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, is also likely to make her Tamil debut with this movie. More details will be officially announced soon.

Mamangam teaser to be released on Mammootty’s birthday

‘Mamangam’, the most hyped Mammootty film in recent times is currently in the final stages of post-production. While fans have been eagerly waiting to hear updates about the film, it is learnt that the makers are planning to its teaser on Mammootty’s birthday, which falls on September 7. It is certain to be double the treat for the fans. The M Padmakumar directorial is shaping up as an action packed historical flick. Venu Kunnappilly of Kavya Films is producing the film.

As per the makers, ‘Mamangam’ is a historic film with almost 80% of it being inspired from real events. The movie’s original director Sajeev Pillai penned the script after an extensive research of over twelve years. Shankar Ramakrishnan later adapted the screenplay. It is based on the religious festival, Mamangam, that took place every twleve years in a place called Thirunavaya, on the banks of the Bharathapuzha, for over 280 years.

‘Mamangam’ has Mammootty playing a the role of a fearless ‘chaaver’. Unni Mukundan also plays a prominent character as Chandroth Panicker. Others in the cast include Kaniha, Anu Sithara, Prachi Tehlan, Siddique, Sudev Nair, Tarun Arora, Suresh Krishna, Mani Kuttan, Manikandan, Ineya and Sudheer Sukumaran.

We had earlier reported about Asif Ali starring in the directorial debut of RJ Mathukutty. The film titled as ‘Kunjeldho’ has gone on floors today. It is being produced jointly by Suvin K Varkey and Prashobh Krishna of Little Big Films. Vineeth Sreenivasan is also part of the team as the creative director.

Asif Ali has written in his Facebook page,

My next project ‘Kunjeldho’ written and directed by RJ Mathukutty, and produced by Suvin K Varkey and Prashob Krishna under the banner Little Big Films, starts rolling tomorrow.
Hope this would turn out to be a great entertainer!

As per trustworthy reports, ‘Kunjeldho’ is a campus based flick and it will have Asif Ali playing a 19-year-old. The lead role was earlier offered to Dulquer Salmaan but it is learnt the actor was not confident enough to pull off a teenager’s part. Mathukutty has also scripted the movie, which has been planned as a full-on fun entertainer.

Swaroop Philip will be cranking the camera and music will be handled by Shaan Rahman.

The movie is being produced by RD Raja’s 24 AM Studios and KJR Studios.

According to director Mithran, ‘Hero’ will be on the lines of his directorial debut ‘Irumbuthirai’, with a very relevant social message in it. Abhay Deol reportedly plays the villain in the film. The actor is well known for his performances in films like ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, ‘Manorama Six Feet Under’ and ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye’. ‘Hero’ marks his entry to Kollywood. It is also Kalyani Priyadarshan’s maiden Tamil film.

‘Hero’ has George C Willaims cranking the camera and Ruben handling the edits. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the music director. The film is expected to hit screens sometime by the end of this year itself.

After almost two years of shooting, the Anwar Rasheed directorial ‘Trance’ has finally been wrapped up. The makers shared the info through their official social media handle. Expectations are sky-high among the audience as the film has been well guarded right from the announcement was made. Except for the cast and crew details, nothing much is known about it, which includes even its genre. This secrecy maintained by the makers has proven successful in triggering the audience’s curiosity.

Debutant Vincent Vadakkan has scripted ‘Trance’. Fahadh Faasil plays the lead role, and since the storyline traverses different timelines, the actor will be seen in multiple looks. Along with Fahadh, the film also has a solid cast comprising of Nazriya Nazim, Soubin Shahir, Chemban Vinod Jose, Vinayakan, Gautham Menon, Dileesh Pothan, Arjun Ashokan and Sreenath Bhasi.

Amal Neerad cranks the camera and Jackson Vijayan is in charge of the music department. Academy Award winner Resul Pookutty is handling the sound design. Director Anwar Rasheed himself is producing the film under his own banner Anwar Rasheed Entertainment. It is said to be the most expensive film in Fahadh’s career.

The makers are planning to release the movie for this year’s Christmas in December.

As informed earlier, the second single from Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming movie ‘Bigil’ has been released online. The track titled as ‘Verithanam’ is penned by Vivek and composed by meastro AR Rahman. Vijay himself has sung the track. It is an foot-tapping fun dance number that has a ‘thara local’ flavour. This is the first time the star is singing for AR Rahman, so fans are highly excited about it.

‘Bigil’ directed by Atlee is a mass entertainer with woman’s football at its crux. The movie has Vijay dual playing a dual role as a gangster father and his son, who is a footballer-turned-coach. Nayanthara is paired with Vijay in the movie. Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Yogi Babu, Vivek, Induja, Varsha Bollamma, Reba Monica John, Daniel Balaji and Anand Raj will be seen in supporting roles.

The movie produced by AGS Entertainment, is scheduled for a grand Diwali release in October.

Indrajith Sukumaran and Dulquer Salmaan to team up for the first time!

Dulquer Salmaan’s long awaited film ‘Kurup’ has finally been launched. Shoot has commenced today in Palakkad. Srinath Rajendran of ‘Second Show’ and ‘Koothara’ fame is directing the film. KS Aravind and Daniel Sayooj Nair have jointly scripted the film based on the life of Kerala’s most wanted criminal Sukumara Kurup.

Dulquer Salmaan plays the titular role of Kurup in the film. Sunny Wayne and Shine Tom Chacko were already confirmed as part of the cast. Latest reports suggest that the movie will also have Indrajith Sukumaran in a prominent role. This is the first time Indrajith and Dulquer are acting together, so it will be quite an exciting scenario to watch them share screen space.

Indrajith currently has some highly promising films lined up. He is part of Rajeev Ravi’s multi-starrer ‘Thuramukham’, ‘Kiran Prabhakaran’s ‘Thakkol’, Bibin Paul Samuel’s ‘Ahaa’ and ‘Lucifer’ editor Samjith Muhammed’s maiden directorial ‘Thalanarizha’. The actor’s maiden web series directed by Gautham Menon is also set for release this year. In the series based on the life of late actress-turned-politician J Jayalalithaa, Indrajith essays the part of MGR.

The first single from Mohanlal’s upcoming film ‘Ittymaani Made in China’ has just been released online. Titled as ‘Kunjade Ninte Manasil’, this is a fun track composed by 4 Musics and sung by Shankar Mahadevan. Debutants Jibi and Joju are directing the movie, which is touted to be a fun-filled family entertainer. The song also clearly indicates the same.

‘Ittymaani’ has Mohanlal playing double role as a father-son duo. Reportedly, the father character is a martial arts trainer based in China, while his son, Ittymaani, is a caterer by profession. He owns the company, Ittymaani Catering Service based in Thrissur. ‘Joseph’ fame Madhuri Braganza is paired with the father character and Honey Rose plays the romantic interest of Ittymaani.

The movie’s cast also includes Radikaa Sarath Kumar, Siddique, Vinu Mohan, Aju Varghese, Kailas, KPAC Lalitha, Johny Antony, Dharmajan, Hareesh Kanaran, Salim Kumar, Sijoy Varghese, Nandu, Aristo Suresh and Swasika. The film is scheduled for a grand release during the Onam season in September. Antony Perumbavoor is producing it under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

Gautham Menon to direct Andhadhun Tamil remake?

As reported by us recently, Sriram Raghavan’s black-comedy thriller ‘Andhadhun’ is getting remade in Tamil with Prashanth in the lead. The actor’s father Thiagarajan had bagged the remake rights officially. Though the director’s name is yet to be announced, it is widely speculated that Gautham Vasudev Menon might helm the remake. After a series of financial issues related to his films, Menon is slowly trying to make a comeback with ‘Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta’, which is scheduled for release next Friday (September 6). It will be interesting to see if he signs the dotted lines for ‘Andhadhun’ remake

‘Andhadhun’ was one of the most acclaimed films in Indian cinema last year. The movie won several awards at various levels, which includes three at the National level as well. Ayushmann Khuranna’s stellar performance won him the National Award for Best Actor. It also won the award for best adapted screenplay and best Hindi film. Besides the critical acclaim, the movie emerged as a big blockbuster as well, earning over Rs 100 crores from the box office alone.

Dhanush and Siddharth were the first names that emerged for the Tamil remake of ‘Andhadhun’, but eventually it landed on Prashanth. Thiagarajan believes that it will be a cake walk for his son to reprise Ayushmann’s character as he is a pianist, who has passed grade 4 in piano at the Trinity College of London.

As Jayaram’s ‘Pattabhiraman’ has continues to do well in theatres, the makers have released a new song online. The track titled ‘Maarivil Maanath’ is sung by KS Chithra and set to tunes by M Jayachandran. Murukan Kattakada has penned the lyrics.

‘Pattabhiraman’ directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam is a light hearted entertainer with a very relevant social message in it. The movie discusses about food adulteration and its harmful effects in detail. Jayaram plays the role of a health inspector in the movie. Sheela Abraham plays his wife.

The cast also includes Baiju Santhosh, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Sheelu Abraham, Hareesh Kanaran, Miya George, Parvathy Nambiar, Ramesh Pisharody, Devan, Prem Kumar, Sai Kumar and many others. Ravi Chandran has cranked the camera and music department is handled by M Jayachandran. Rajith KR is in charge of the edits.

Abraham Mathew has produced the movie under the banner of Abaam Movies.
