Maanaadu: Simbu removed from Venkat Prabhu’s Maanaadu

Director Venkat Prabhu and Simbu were supposed to team up for a political thriller titled ‘Maanaadu’. It has been over a year since the project got announced but it is yet to go on floors. Producer Suresh Kamatchi has now informed that Simbu will no more be a part of the film. Apparently, the producer got fed up with the unnecessary delays and postponement of schedules.

Informing his stand on the issue, director Venkat Prabhu has tweeted,

It’s very unfortunate that I couldn’t work with my brother #str in #maanaadu Everything is time bounded. Considering the amount of emotional and financial pressure that the producer is going through, I have to respect the decision taken by the producer. Thnks for all the love!

Venkat Prabhu will now be making the film with a different actor. The makers had earlier announced Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead. It now remains to be seen if she is still part of the project. This in not the first time, a Simbu film is getting dropped. Several of his announced films have not seen the light. The actor was last seen shooting for ‘Maha’, the landmark 50th movie of Hansika Motwani. Simbu played an extended cameo as a pilot in the film.

Sun Pictures to produce Rajinikanth’s next with Siva?

For a while now there have been reports about Rajinikanth teaming up with director Siva of ‘Veeram’ fame. Kalaipuli S Thanu, who funded the superstar’s ‘Kabali’ was the front runner to produce the film, but it now seems like Sun Pictures has bagged the project. It is worth a mention that, Rajinikanth and Sun Pictures are also collaborating in ‘Darbar’, directed by AR Murugadoss.

Earlier this year, Rajinikanth had met Siva and discussed a few ideas, after the director delivered a huge blockbuster with ‘Viswasam’ starring Ajith. The movie which was released in January during the Pongal holidays had a tremendous run at the box office after the common audience, especially the families, lapped it up. If reports are to believed, Siva is planning a similar family drama for Rajinikanth. Before that the director will be teaming up with Suriya. As announced earlier, it will be produced by KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green Entertainment.
