Indian 2 to be made on a budget of over Rs 200 crores

As we already know, Kamal Haasan and Shankar is teaming up for an ambitious sequel to their 1996 classic hit ‘Indian’. Though the movie was formally launched in January, shoot was stalled halfway after the makers faced quite a few roadblocks. The film is now being revived and full fledged shoot is set to begin from August 12. Lyca Productions is backing the film and it is said that the movie will be made on a lavish budget of over Rs 200 crores.

Along with Kamal Haasan, ‘Indian 2’ will have a big supporting star cast. Bollywood action star Vidyut Jammwal, Kajal Agarwal, Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Aishwarya Rajesh are also said to be part of the movie. Recently, Priya Bhavani Shankar confirmed about acting in the film with a tweet which reads,

‘Indian 2’ has Kamal Haasan reprising his role of Senapathi, a freedom fighter-turned-vigilante. Shankar has written the movie’s screenplay and dialogues are penned by Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairmuthu and Lakshmi Saravanakumar. Others in the technical crew include music director Anirudh Ravichander, cinematographer Ravi Varman, editor Sreekar Prasad and production designer Muthuraj. The makers are planning it as a summer release next year.

Thalapathy 64: Kiara Advani in talks for Vijay’s next

As reported by us earlier, Vijay’s next after the ongoing ‘Bigil’ will be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Pre-production works including casting for the movie are still under progress. Buzz is that Bollywood actress Kiara Advani is being considered to play the female lead in the movie. One of the leading actresses in B-Town, Kiara made her South debut last year with the Mahesh Babu starrer ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’.

Lokesh’s upcoming film with Vijay, which is tentatively titled as ‘Thalapathy 64’ is said to be a gangster story. The director made his debut in 2017 with the surprise hit ‘Maanagaram’. Since then, Lokesh has been rated as one of the most promising filmmakers in Tamil. He currently has ‘Kaithi’ starring Karthi gearing up for release.

Malayalam actor Antony has been roped in to play the villain role in ‘Thalapathy 64’. Composer Anirudh Ravichander, cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan and editor Philomin Raj are said to be part of the technical crew. Xavier Britto, who is said to be a relative of Vijay, will be producing the movie. Official announcement will be made shortly.

Thalaivi: Jayalalithaa biopic starring Kangana Ranaut to roll from October

As we already know, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is starring in the biopic of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Director AL Vijay is helming the movie, which has been titled as ‘Thalaivi’. ‘Baahubali’ writer KV Vijayendra Prasad is scripting the film, which has been planned as a bilingual in Tamil and Hindi. The Hindi version has been titled as ‘Jaya’. It is being produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri.

Meanwhile, it is reported that Kangana has already started prepping up for the role. Before becoming one of India’s most powerful political faces, Jayalalithaa was a leading actress in the Tamil film industry. Since the biopic will be covering all these areas, Kangana will be putting loads of efforts. She has already started to learn Tamil diction, classical dance and will also be putting on weight. Shoot is scheduled to begin by the first week of October

‘Thalaivi’ aka ‘Jaya’ has an efficient technical crew. Nirav Shah will be cranking the camera and music will be composed by GV Prakash. Antony will be handling the edits. National award winning Malayali make up man Pattanam Rasheed has also been signed for this prestigious project.

Recently, the launch of Vijay Sethupathi’s new film Tughlaq Durbar was officially launched. Directed by debutant Delhi Prasad Deenadayal, it is a political satire. Aditi Rao Hydari plays the female lead in the movie. Latest to join the cast is Manjima Mohan. It is her first film with Vijay Sethupathi and she is said to be cast in a very crucial character.

‘Tughlaq Darbar’ has Vijay Sethupathi playing a politician. Veteran actor Parthiben will also be seen playing a prominent role. According to the makers, the movie has an out-and-out mass subject.
Balaji Tharaneetharan, who has directed films like ‘Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom’ and ‘Seethakaathi’, is penning the dialogues.

’96’ director Prem Kumar will be cranking the camera and Govind Vasantha has been roped in as the music director. It is being produced jointly by 7 Screen Studio and Viacom 18. Full fledged shoot will be commenting shortly and it is planned as a 2020 summer release.

Lijo Jose Pelissery’s ‘Jallikattu’ is one film that it is unanimously awaited by Malayali as well as non-Malayali cinephiles. The movie has been in the making for nearly a year and if reports are to be believed, it will hit screens in October. Starring Antony Varghese in the lead, the movie is based on S Hareesh’s short story ‘Maoist’.

The story discusses about the Maoist situation and a person’s right to freedom, from the perspective of two buffaloes.
Taking the crux out of Hareesh’s short story, the have developed a screenplay which explores the beastly side of man. According to Lijo, ‘Jallikkattu’ is a satire told with lot of humour. Interestingly, Chemban Vinod plays a Neanderthal in the film. He himself reveled this in a recent interview.

Chemban has been part of Lijo’s films so far and for ‘Ee Maa Yau’, he won the prestigious Silver Peacock Award for Best Actor at International Film Festival of India (IFFI), 2018. Playing a Neanderthal is something unheard of in Malayalam. So, the audience can expect to see another stellar performance from Chemban Vinod.

‘Jallikkattu’ was recently watched by celebs like Indrajith Sukumaran, Geetu Mohandas and Anurag Kashyap and they all had high words of praise for it. Official announcement regarding its theatrical release date is expected to be made soon.

‘Jabariya Jodi’ starring Siddharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra is gearing up for release. The movie is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on August 9 (Friday). Prashanth Singh is directing the movie which promises to be a colorful mass entertainer. The trailer, which was released recently, also promised a fun ride.

As per the makers, it is a quirky romantic comedy based on the unique concept of Pakadwah Shaadi or groom kidnapping, which is prevalant in the Indian heartland.’Jabariya Jodi’ has Siddharth Malhotra playing a rough Bihari thug. Parineeti is paired opposite him. The lead pair is coming together for the second time after ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’. The cast cast also includes Aparshakti Khuranna, Sanjay Mishra, Javed Jaffery, Chandan Roy Saniyal, Gopal Dutt and Neeraj Sood.

‘Jabariya Jodi’ is co-produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Shailesh R Singh under the banners of Balaji Motion Pictures, Karma Media & Entertainment and ALT Entertainment.

For the last few days, the makers have been releasing the character posters. Latest to come out is that of Tamil actor Arun Vijay. His character is named as Vishwank, and he looks extremely stylish in the suited get up.

Chemban Vinod Jose is currently one of the most wanted character actors in Malayalam. Along with acting in multiple projects, he is also finding time for scripting. He made his debut as a scenarist in 2017 with the blockbuster hit ‘Angamaly Diaries’. He scripted the movie after being inspired by his own experiences and the lives that he has seen around him in his hometown, Angamaly.

Chemban is currently working on the script of a new film, which has been titled as ‘Bangalore Diaries’. Just like ‘Angamaly Diaries’, this new film is also inspired from his early days in Bangalore. The actor spent around twenty years of his life in Bangalore doing various businesses before landing in cinema. Chemban revealed about scripting ‘Banglaore Diaries’ in a recent interview, but did not divulge any further details about its director, cast or when shoot begins.

On the acting front, Chemban will be next seen in the one of the titular roles in the Joshiy directorial ‘Porinju Mariam Jose’. The movie which has him playing one of the leads alongside Joju George and Nyla Usha is scheduled for release on August 15. Kunchacko Boban’s new film ‘Anjaam Pathiraa’ directed by Midhun Maneul Thomas had gone on floors only recently. The movie is touted to be a thriller, a genre that the director is attempting for the first time. Midhun has also scripted the movie. Kunchacko Boban plays the role of a criminal psychologist named Anwar Hussain in it. He recently took to his official social media handle to inform the same. The actor has already started shooting for his portions.

Apart from Kunchacko Boban, ‘Anjaam Pathiraa’ also has a big supporting cast comprising of Sharaf U Dheen, Remya Nambeesan, Sreenath Bhasi, Indrans, Unnimaya Prasad and Jinu Joseph. Dileep commits a new film with Chattakkari fame Santosh Sethumadhavan

Of late, Dileep has been signing back to back films. He already has around five projects lined up and latest reports suggest that he has committed for one more. The actor will be teaming up with Santosh Sethumadhavan for a family drama. PV Shaji Kumar, a recipient of numerous awards including Kendra Sahitya Akademi, is scripting the movie based on the director’s story. The movie is said to be titled as ‘Rahasyam’.

Santosh Sethumadhavan is the son of legendary filmmaker KS Sethumadhavan. In 2008, he made a short film titled ‘Appuvin Nayagan – Spotty (My Hero)’ that won the Rajat Kamal at the 56th National Film Awards for the Best Film on Family Values. He then made his feature film debut in 2012 with ‘Chattakkari’, which was a remake of the 1974 classic of the same name directed by his father. .

Santosh’s new film with Dileep is scheduled to start rolling only by next year. The actor was last seen shooting for ‘Jack Daniel’, directed by SL Puram Jayasurya. After its completion, he will be working on the remaining portions of his ambitious 3D film ‘Professor Dinkan’. ‘My Santa’ with Sugeeth, ‘Keshu Ee Veedinte Naathan’ with Nadirshah, ‘Parakkum Pappan’ with debutant Viyan Vishnu and ‘Pickpocket’ with P Balachandra Kumar are his other confirmed projects.
