Ya Moula: Here’s a new song from Dileep’s Shubharathri

‘Shubharathri’, which hit screens on July 6 continues to do well in theatres. The movie starring Dileep and Siddique in the lead roles is written and directed by Vyasan KP. The makers have now released a new song online. The track titled ‘Ya Moula’ is composed by Bijibal and lyrics is penned by Harinarayanan. Ranjith Jayaraman has rendered the track.

‘Shubharathri’ is a feel good film that is based on real life events. The story revolves around Mohammed (Siddique), a do-gooder Muslim man who gets ready for his Hajj pilgrimage. The day before his journey, he encounters an unexpected situation through which Krishnan (Dileep) comes into his life. How they resolve it forms the rest of the story. The movie basically sends out a message about religious harmony and the need for compassion among humans.

‘Shubharathri’ also has Anu Sithara, Shanthi Krishna, Sheelu Abraham, Asha Sarath, Nadirshah, Indrans, Nedumudi Venu, Sai Kumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Prashanth Alexander in important roles. Abraham Mathew of Abaam Movies has produced the movie.

Official: Dhanush and Aishwarya Lekshmi in Karthik Subbaraj’s gangster thriller

Recently, we had reported about Dhanush and Malayali actress Aishwarya Lekshmi teaming up for director Karthik Subbaraj’s new film. The project has been formally announced today via social medias. S Sashikanth of Y Not Studios is producing the movie, which is a gangster-thriller set entirely in the United Kingdom. A leading actor from Hollywood is also expected to be part of the cast.

This yet-to-be titled film will have music by Santhosh Narayanan, with whom Karthik Subbaraj has collaborated in all his other films except ‘Petta’. Shreyaas Krishna will be cranking the camera and Vivek Harshan will be handling the edits. The makers have issued a press release revealing the entire technical crew. They have also informed that shoot will begin next month.

This is Aishwarya Lekshmi’s second film in Tamil. She is making her debut with Vishal’s upcoming film, which is being directed by Sundar C. Tamannah Bhatia is also part of the movie, shoot for which is still progressing.

Shylock will be a Rajamanikyam-like film, assures makers

Mammootty’s new film ‘Shylock’ was launched only recently and fans have already pinned high hopes on it. Ajai Vasudev is directing the movie and Joby George is producing it under the banner of Goodwill Entertainment. Scripted by newcomers Bibin Mohan and Aneesh Hameed, the movie is said to be an action-packed mass entertainer.

Recently, in a casual chat with one of the followers in Facebook, the makers assured that ‘Shylock’ will be a ‘Rajamanikyam’ like film. Considered to be one of the best mass flicks in Mammootty’s career, ‘Rajamanikyam’ has a cult following even 14 years after its release. If ‘Shylock’ indeed manages to live up to that level, it is certain to set the box office on fire.

‘Shylock’ has been planned as a bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam. Mammootty plays a financier’s role in the film and it is said to be a grey shaded one. Veteran Tamil actor has been signed to play a very prominent role and Meena will be seen as the female lead. The movie’s technical crew comprises of DOP Renadive, music director Gopi Sunder, editor Riyas K Badhar and art director Vinod Raveendran.

Full fledged shoot is slated to being from August 7.

Release postponed for Prabhas’ Saaho

Prabhas’ much-hyped mega budget film ‘Saaho’ was originally scheduled for release on August 15 on the occasion of Independence Day. However, the makers have now postponed it to August 30 as the post-production works could not be completed. ‘Saaho’ directed by Sujeeth is an action packed thriller made on an international scale. It is being made on a whopping budget of Rs 300 crores. The release date had to be pushed as the team is not willing to compromise on any aspect.

‘Saaho’ is releasing in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil languages. Hence the movie has actors from various Indian languages as part of its cast. Shradhha Kapoor is paired with Prabhas. Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chunky Pandey, Mandira Bedi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Arun Vijay, Lal, Vennela Kishore, and Tinnu Anand are playing other prominent roles.

Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati are jointly producing ‘Saaho’ under the banner of UV Creations.

As we had reported earlier, Parvathy is playing the lead in actor-turned-filmmaker Sidhartha Siva’s new film ‘Varthamanam’. National award winner Aryadan Shoukath has scripted the movie, which is based on the issues faced by college students in New Delhi. Roshan Mathew, noted for his roles in ‘Aanandam’ and ‘Koode’, is playing the male lead in the movie.

As per latest reports, Tovino Thomas is also part of ‘Varthamanam’. He is said to be essaying a brief cameo role in the movie. Parvathy and Tovino have previously acted together in ‘Ennu Ninte Modieen’ and ‘Uyare’. The nature of Tovino’s role is not yet known but it will be interesting to share them screen space again.

Siddique, Dain Davis, Nirmal Palazhi and a bunch of North Indian actors are also part of this Varthamanam’s cast. Veteran Alagappan is cranking the camera and Vinesh Banglan is handling the art department. Aryadan Shoukath is producing the movie along with Benazeer of Benzy Productions. It was shot extensively in Delhi, Uttarakhand and other North Indian states.

Kamal Haasan-Shankar team’s ambitious sequel to their 1996 classic hit ‘Indian’ was put on hold for a while. After its formal launch in January this year, the makers were proceed with the full fledged shoot but they faced quite a few roadblocks. In the meanwhile, there were even reports about the project getting temporarily shelved. Kamal Haasan’s political commitments and budget overrun were said to be the reasons for the same.

However, it now seems like the makers have resolved all the issues and are planning to resume shoot from August. As per latest reports, along with Kamal Haasan, ‘Indian 2’ will have a big supporting star cast. Bollywood action star Vidyut Jammwal, Kajal Agarwal, Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Aishwarya Rajesh are also said to be part of the movie. The makers are yet to give an official confirmation about this.

‘Indian 2’ has Kamal Haasan reprising his role of Senapathi, a freedom fighter-turned-vigilante. Shankar has written the movie’s screenplay and dialogues are penned by Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairmuthu and Lakshmi Saravanakumar. Others in the technical crew include music director Anirudh Ravichander, cinematographer Ravi Varman, editor Sreekar Prasad and production designer Muthuraj. Lyca Productions is producing this movie.

As we already know, Prithviraj’s 2017 horror flick ‘Ezra’ is getting remade in Hindi with Emraan Hashmi in the lead. Jay R Krishnan, who directed the original, is helming the remake as well. The Hindi version, which is also titled as ‘Ezra’, went on floors today in Mauritius. Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Krishan Kumar and Abhishek Pathak are jointly producing the movie. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh broke the news by tweeting,

‘Ezra’ was one of the biggest commercial hits in Malayalam in 2017. Starring Prithviraj, Priya Anand and Tovino Thomas in major roles, the movie was noted for the novelty in the plot and its top quality production values. It is believed to be the first Indian movie with a horror theme set in a Jewish backdrop. It was also widely regarded as the first attempt in making a proper horror flick in Malayalam rather than the usual horror comedies.

Last year, the movie was also selected for screening at the 22nd Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival.

While Vijay Sethupathi has rendered the Tamil lyrics, the Malayalam words are sung by Dulquer Salmaan. Vijay Deverakonda has rendered the Telugu part. This is a huge promotional tactic by the makers that will publicized the movie among the general audience.

‘Dear Comrade’ is written and directed by Bharat Kamma. From the recently released trailer, it looks like an intense coming-of-age romantic film. Vijay Deverakonda plays Bobby, a passionate college-going youngster who falls in love with Lilli, a cricketer, played by Rashmika Mandanna.

Both the lead actors are hugely popular among the South cienma audience courtesy the success of their films like ‘Pelli Choopulu’, ‘Arjun Reddy’ and ‘Kirik Party’. They further shot to fame last year with ‘Geeta Govindam’, in which the two shared screen space for the first time. ‘Dear Comrade’ is being released in four languages considering their popularity alone.

The trailer of Bollywood’s upcoming film ‘Mission Mangal’ has just been released. Based on Mangalyaan, India’s first interplanetary mission to reach the Mars orbit, the movie is surveyed by Jagan Shakti. It boasts of a star-studded cast lead by Akshay Kumar. Vidya Balan, Nithya Menen, Tapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharman Joshi and ‘Pink’ fame Kirti Kulhari will be seen in other prominent roles.

As per the makers, ‘Mission Mangal’ is the incredible, true story of a scientist, Rakesh Dhawan, played by Akshay Kumar and Tara Shinde, played by Vidya Balan, who lead a team of scientists who overcame their personal challenges and failures to serve as the brains behind one of the greatest space missions in history- the launch of India’s first satellite to Mars.

The technical crew of ‘Mission Mangal’ comprises of Ravi Varman as the DOP and Amit Trivedi as the composer. Chandan Arora has done the edits. Fox Star Studios, Hope Productions and Cape Of Good Films are jointly funding this movie, which is slated to hit screens worldwide on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15.

Tovino Thomas to star in Swadeshabhimani Ramakrishna Pillai biopic

Tovino Thomas seems to be a signing spree. The actor who already has around ten projects, is adding one more to his kitty. He is in talks for the biopic of late journalist Swadeshabhimani Ramakrishna Pillai. Ex MP and journalist Sebastian Paul is scripting the movie and it will be directed by Pramod Payyannur. Discussions are still in the initial stages and an official word is expected to be made soon.

Ramakrishna Pillai was a nationalist writer, journalist, editor, and political activist. He was the editor of Swadeshabhimani, the newspaper which became a potent weapon against the rule of the British and the erstwhile princely state of Travancore and a tool for social transformation. Ramakrishna Pillai was arrested and exiled from Travancore for criticing the then Diwan of Travancore, P Rajagopalachari and the Maharajah.

Sebastian Paul is scripting the movie after doing extensive research works. The movie will traverse through a time span ranging from the late 1870s to 1920s. It will focus on Ramakrishnan Pillai’s arrest and his subsequent life thereafter. More details regarding this ambitious film is expected to be revealed by the makers shortly.
