Vijayaraghavan looks uber-cool in this new poster of Brother’s Day
Kalabhavan Shajohn’s directorial debut ‘Brother’s Day’ starring Prithviraj Sukumaran is currently in the final stages of shoot. The movie promises to be a fun filled commercial mass entertainer. Madonna Sebastian, Miya George, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Prayaga Martin play the female leads. A new poster featuring Vijayaraghavan and Madonna has just been released by the makers. The former looks amazingly cool in his new get up. Earlier, in a location still from the movie’s sets, the veteran actor was nearly unrecognizable. It looks like he plays the role of a chilled out, supportive dad in the film.

‘Brother’s Day’ is a promising film that has a good set of actors and technicians. Tamil actor Prasanna is making his Malayalam debut with this movie. Jithu Damodar wields the camera and. songs composed by the multi-talented Nadirshah. Background score is done by 4 Musics of ‘Oppam’ fame. Listin Stephen is producing the movie under the banner of Magic Frames. It is scheduled for release this Onam in September.
Stunt choreographer from Hollywood to be part of Suriya’s next
Suriya’s new film ‘Soorarai Pottru’ with director Sudha Kongara is currently on floors. Loosely based on the life of GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan and a retired captain of the Indian army, the movie has Malayali actress Aparna Balamurali paired with Suriya. Academy award winner Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment is producing the movie jointly with Suriya’s 2D Entertainment.
Interestingly, the makers have roped in stunt choreographer Greg Powell to handle the action sequences. Powell has worked in action-heavy Hollywood films like ‘Skyfall’, ‘Fast and Furious’ and ‘Bourne Ultimatum’. It will be interesting to see his style of work in the upcoming Suriya starrer. The movie has camera cranked by Niketh Bommireddy and music by GV Prakash.
‘Soorarai Pottru’ is said to be a very ambitious project. The makers had worked on the pre-production itself for over a year. Shalini Usha Nair and Sudha Kongara have jointly scripted the movie.
Vinay Forrt replaces Indrajith in Paapam Cheyyathavar Kalleriyatte
We had recently reported about Indrajith Sukumaran signing a new film titled ‘Paapam Cheyyathavar Kalleriyatte’. However, the actor has now opted out due to date issues. He is currently busy shooting for ‘Thuramukham’ directed by Rajeev Ravi. Kiran Prabhakaran’s ‘Thakkol’ and ‘Lucifer’ editor Samjith Muhammed’s maiden directorial ‘Thalanarizha’ are also coming up for the actor.
Indrajith has been replaced by Vinay Forrt in ‘Paapam Cheyyathavar Kalleriyatte’. The movie is being directed by Shambhu Purushothaman of ‘Vedivazhipadu’ fame. Saiju Kurup, who was earlier supposed to an important role has been replaced by Tini Tom. Anu Mol and Srindaa play the two female leads. Alencier Ley Lopez is also there in a crucial role.
Just like director Shambhu Purushothaman’s debut film, ‘Vedivazhipadu’, this one is also said to be a social satire. Jomon Thomas is cranking the camera and music is by Prashanth Pillai. Sanju Unnithan of Spire Productions is producing the movie. Shoot has already commenced.
Veteran Biju Menon and the highly promising Shane Nigam are set to come together for the first time. Johny Antony is directing the movie which has been titled as ‘Daniel Kelkunnund’. Debutant Anil Lal has scripted the movie. While details about the other cast members are not yet known, the movie has a solid technical crew. Cinematography will be handled by the ace Madhu Neelakandan and music by Vidyasagar. Ranjan Abraham is the editor. Shoot for the movie is scheduled to commence from October.
Meanwhile, both Shane Nigam and Biju Menon have multiple projects coming up. Shane is currently shooting for ‘Veyil’ directed by debutant Sarath Menon. He has Dimal Dennis’ ‘Valiya Perunnal’ and Shaji N Karun’s ‘Olu’ gearing up to hit screens. Another rom-com with debutant director Jeevan Jojo is also in the making.
Biju Menon, who recently wrapped up Lal Jose’ ‘Nalpathiyonnu’, will soon be joining the sets of ‘Adhyarathri’, directed by Jibu Jacob. He is also simultaneously shooting for Rajeev Ravi’s multi-starrer ‘Thuramukham’. ‘Ayyappanum Koshiy’ in which he teams up with Prithviraj and director Sachi is also in the pipeline.
Unlike Baahubali, Mamangam has minimal VFX with emphasis on realistic storytelling: Mammootty
Ever since the first look release of ‘Mamangam’, there has been a highly positive buzz around the movie. Further heightening the hype, the makers have been released some new stills in which the 68-year-old looks amazing his well built physique and famed charisma. The movie is directed by M Padmakumar and produced by Venu Kunnappilly.
Since ‘Mamangam’ is a period flick set in a medieval era, parallels are certain to be drawn with ‘Baahubali’, which has set a new benchmark for Indian cinema in this particular genre. However, Mammootty has made it clear that ‘Mamangam’ will be a more realistic film with very less VFX and computer generated imagery. According to him, ‘Baahubali’ is completely fictitious while ‘Mamangam’ is a historic film with almost 80% of it being based on true events.
The Mammootty starrer is based on the religious festival, Mamangam, that took place every twelve years in a place called Thirunavaya, on the banks of the Bharatapuzha, for over 280 years. It will be an action packed film with more importance to Kerala’s most famous martial art form, Kalaripayattu. Sajeev Pillai penned the script after doing an extensive research for over twelve years. Shankar Ramakrishnan later adapted the screenplay.
Mammootty reportedly plays the lead role of a fiery ‘Chaaver’ (warrior) in the movie. Unni Mukundan, Kaniha, Anu Sithara, Tarun Raj Arora, Prachi Tehlan, Sudev Nair, Suresh Krishna, Manikuttan, Siddique, Abu Salim, Sudheer Sukumaran and many others are also part of the cast.
‘Mamangam’ also a strong technical crew comprising of State award winning cinematographer Manoj Pillai, veteran music director M Jayachandran and art director Mohandas. Bollywood based composer Sanchit Balhara handles the background score. The movie is expected to hit screens by the end of the year in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.
Mammootty starrer Unda censored with clean U certificate
Mammootty’s cop flick ‘Unda’ went to the censors today and the movie has been awarded with a clean U certificate. With the censoring done, the movie is now confirmed to hit screens this Friday (June 14). The movie directed by Khalidh Rahman of ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ fame is touted to be a realistic cop flick.
‘Unda’, which has its screenplay penned by Harshad, is inspired from some real life incidents that occurred back in 2014 during the Lok Sabha elections. It revolves around a set of events that occur when an unit of policemen from Kerala reach the Maosit areas in Chhattisgarh for election duty.
Mammootty plays a police inspector’s character named Manikandan CP. Shine Tom Chacko, Arjun Ashokan, Jacob Gregory, Rony David, Kalabhavan Shajon, Gokulan, Abhiram, Dileesh Pothan and Lukman play supporting roles. Asif Ali and Vinay Forrt will be seen in brief cameo appearances.
Krishnan Sethukumarr is producing the movie under the banner of Movie Mill in association with Gemini Studios.

Tovino Thomas’s new film ‘And The Oskar Goes To’ is getting ready for theatrical release later this month. Recently, the movie had its world premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Alberta in Canada. The movie garnered excellent response in the film festival. It has also bagged four awards, which includes best actor, best director, best film and best supporting actress.
An extremely delighted Tovino Thomas shared the big news to his followers in social medias. He also rated Isaak Ebrahem, his character in the movie as one of his favourite roles closer to heart. Tovino’s post reads,

Mammootty’s cop flick ‘Unda’ is getting ready for release this Friday (June 14). Khalidh Rahman, who made an impressive debut with ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ (AKV) is directing the movie. He has also penned the story based on a real incident that occurred during the election time in 2014.
‘Unda’ has Mammootty playing the role of an ordinary police sub inspector named Manikandan CP. The movie revolves around a set of events that occur when an unit of policemen from Kerala reach the Maosit affected areas in Chhattisgarh for election duty.
Young star Asif Ali has done a guest role as a police officer in the movie. In a recent interview, the actor assured that ‘Unda’ will be one of the best films in Mammootty’s career.
