Thala 60: Ajith to play a bike racer in his next!

Recently, we had reported about Ajith hitting the gym for his new film, which is said to be an action thriller. H Vinoth, who has directed Ajith in the yet-to-be released ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’, will be helming his next as well. Bollywood based producer Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios are jointly producing the movie, which is tentatively titled as Thala 60.

As per latest reports, the movie will have Ajith in the role of a bike racer. Ajith’s passion for bikes and racing is very popular and his fans are excited than ever upon hearing this news. In a recent interview, producer Boney Kapoor had revealed that the film will capitalize on Ajith’s love for racing. The movie is expected to be shot in exotic locations in Budapest, South Africa and the Middle East.

Ajith is currently in the process of shedding all the extra weight that he had gained for ‘Viswasam’ and ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’. In a recent video that was taken during a casual event, the actor is seen in a clean shaven look with a cap on his head. It is said that Thala will be sporting a stylish new look in the film.

Director Vinoth has been working on the script for some time now. According to him, it is a huge project that demands lot of pre-production. The makers have planned to start shooting shortly after the release of ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’. The Tamil remake of ‘Pink’ is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on August 10.

After all the waiting, we are now just a day away from the release of Mammootty starrer ‘Unda’. The movie has been slated to hit in a good number of screens from tomorrow (June 14). Expectations are high for the movie, majorly due to the promising new-gen team and the intriguing promos released so far. The movie directed by Khalidh Rahman of ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ fame is touted to be a realistic cop flick.

‘Unda’, which has its screenplay penned by Harshad, is inspired from some real life incidents that occurred back in 2014 during the Lok Sabha elections. It is centered around a set of events that occur when an unit of policemen from Kerala reach the Maosit areas in Chhattisgarh for election duty.

Mammootty plays a police inspector’s character named Manikandan CP. The superstar will be seen as an ordinary policeman without any sort of larger-than-life heroic elements. It is expected to be a completely realistic film without any superstar glorification or other commercial gimmicks.

Shine Tom Chacko, Arjun Ashokan, Jacob Gregory, Rony David, Kalabhavan Shajon, Gokulan, Abhiram, Dileesh Pothan and Lukman play supporting roles in the movie. Asif Ali and Vinay Forrt will be seen in brief cameo appearances. Cinematographer Sajith Purushan, music director Prashanth Pillai and Bollywood-based action choreographer Sham Kaushal are part of the technical crew.

Krishnan Sethukumarr is producing the movie under the banner of Movie Mill in association with Gemini Studios.

As informed earlier by the makers, the teaser of Prabhas starrer ‘Saaho’ has just been released online. As expected, it is an action-packed teaser featuring an extremely stylish Prabhas. The teaser has some stunning visuals captured by R Madhi and is edited to perfection by veteran Sreekar Prasad. It will also be screened in theatres from June 14.

‘Saaho’ directed by Sujeeth is touted to be a high octane action thriller. It is made on an international scale with a massive star cast and crew. As per the makers, the movie is being made on a whopping budget of Rs 300 crore, of which Rs 90 crore is spent on the action sequences alone. It is being made as a trilingual in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil languages.

‘Saaho’ has stars from various industries as part of its cast. Bollywood actress Shradhha Kapoor is paired with Prabhas. Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chunky Pandey, Mandira Bedi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Arun Vijay, Lal and Tinnu Anand are playing other prominent roles in the movie.

Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati are jointly producing ‘Saaho’ under the banner of UV Creations. The movie is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on August 15.

Musical prodigy Lydian Nadhaswaram to compose for Mohanlal’s Barroz

As we already know, Mohanlal is set to turn a director with an ambitious 3D film, titled ‘Barroz’. The movie has been planned to start rolling from October, so pre-production works have already commenced. Interestingly, child prodigy Lydian Nadhaswaram will be composing for the movie. The 13-year-old has already landed in Kochi to start works for the movie.

Lydian, who is a Tamilian by birth, is a student of AR Rahman’s academy. He shot to fame when he recently won the CBS talent show ‘The World’s Best’ where he received a million dollar prize money. He played the classical piece ‘The Flight of the Bumblebee’ in not just the regular speed but in much faster variations as well which left both the judges and the audiences stunned.

The extraordinarily talented Lydian played the composition at 325 beats per minute which is almost double the speed of a normal pianist. It will be interesting to see what kind of music he produces for ‘Barroz’. Since it is a film primarily targeted at the kids and fantasy lovers, 13-year-old Lydian is a perfect choice. Besides ‘Barroz’, he is also in talks for a few projects in Bollywood, Hollywood and is also collaborating with AR Rahman.

‘Barroz’ scripted by Jijo Punnoose is based on a mythical story set in the Portuguese backdrop. It is fascinating story about an innocent ghost named Barroz. Besides wielding the megaphone, Mohanlal is also playing the titular character. Barroz is said to be a mythical figure who was the gaurdian of Vasco da Gama’s valuable treasures for 400 years.

Ace cinematographer KU Mohanan will be handling the camera for this 3D film. The makers are planning to shoot in exotic locations in Goa, Portugal and several other foreign countries. The movie is being produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

Last day, actress-turned-filmmaker Geetu Mohandas made a startling revelation through her social media handle. Malayali actor Roshan Mathew, who has done a key role in Geetu’s upcoming movie ‘Moothon’, is heading Bollywood. He has been roped in to play the lead in Anurag Kashyap’s new film.

It must be noted that Kashyap, one of the leading filmmakers in Indian cinema, was involved in ‘Moothon’ as the co-writer. Apparently, the director was highly impressed by Roshan’s performance in the movie and decided to sign him for his next. Though other details regarding the movie are not yet known, Roshan couldn’t have asked for a better launch in Bollywood. Shoot for the movie commences today in Mumbai.

Geetu Mohandas’ Facebook post reads,

When I was filming Moothon, I got close to all my actors, rooting for them and wanting the best to happen in their lives always . That ‘want’ will be forever. I’m so proud to announce that my actor and good friend, Roshan Mathew with his unbelievable performance in Moothon, has landed himself a beautiful project as the lead in none other than the maverick filmmaker #Anurag Kashyap ‘s latest. The shoot commences tomorrow in Bombay.

Roshan Mathew had his first break in 2016 with the youthful entertainer ‘Aanandam’. He later did notable roles in films like ‘Koode’, ‘Orayiram Kinakkalal’ and more recently in ‘Thottappan’. A very active person in the theatre scene, Roshan had recently directed a English-Malayalam bilingual play titled ‘A Very Normal Family’.

As informed earlier in the day by us, the trailer of Thala Ajith’s ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ has just been released online. The movie directed by H Vinoth is the remake of acclaimed Hindi film ‘Pink’. Boney Kapoor, husband of late actress Sridevi, is producing the movie, which is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on August 10.

‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ has Ajith reprising Amitabh Bachchan’s role from the original. Shraddha Srinath is essaying the role done by Taapsee Pannu. Bollywood actess1 Vidya Balan’s is making her debut in Tamil with this movie by playing the role of Ajith’s wife. Kalki Koechlin is also making a guest appearance in a song.

‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ has high expectations since Ajith is doing something different from the regular commercial potboilers after a very long gap. ‘Pink’, directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, was a widely acclaimed film that even went on to bag a National award. The Tamil version is also expected to do well.

Tovino Thomas’ new film ‘Luca’ is gearing up for release. Recently, the first single from the movie was released online. The song titled ‘Ore Kannal’ features the lead pair, Tovino and Ahaana Krishna. It is a beautiful romantic track set to tunes by Sooraj S Kurup. Nandhagopan, Anju Joseph, Neethu Naduvathettu and Sooraj S Kurup have lent their voices to the track, while lyrics is penned by Manu Manjith.

The song with its fascinating visuals of a scrap artist’s life has instantly struck a chord with the viewers. In just four days time, the song has hit over one million views in YouTube and is currently at the top position in the trending list. Needless to say, the track has managed to create a positive buzz about the movie among the common audience.

‘Luca’ is directed by debutant Arun Bose. He has also scripted the movie jointly with Mridul George. The movie has Tovino and Ahanaa Krishna pairing up for the first time. Though romance is part of it, ‘Luca’ is primarily an investigative thriller. Nithin George, Vineetha Koshy, Thalaivasal Vijay, Jaffer Idukki, Neena Kurup, Chembil Ashokan, Pauly Valsan and Devi Ajith will be seen in other prominent roles.

Shoot for Mammootty’s new film ‘Ganagandharvan’ is currently progressing at a brisk pace. The movie directed by Ramesh Pisharody is touted to be a fun filled entertainer. Mammootty plays the role of a ‘ganamela’ singer named Kaladasan Ullas in the movie. The makers have planned to remix the star’s highly popular song ‘Shanthamee Rathriyil’.

The original song, which was rendered by KJ Yesudas and composed by SP Venkitesh, will now be modified by Deepak Dev. The song which featured in ‘Johnie Walker’ (1992) is still a favourite of many. So when it gets a remix nearly three decades after its release, it will be quite a big task to suffice the expectations.

‘Ganagandharvan’ is scripted jointly by Ramesh Pisharody and Hari Nair. Debutante Vanditha Manoharan plays the female lead. The movie also has an elaborate supporting cast comprising of Mukesh, Manoj K Jayan, Suresh Krishna, Abu Salim, Salim Kumar, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Hareesh Kanaran, Ashokan, Innocent and Maniyanpilla Raju.

Veteran cinematographer Azhagappan, music director Deepak Dev and editor Lijo Paul are part of the technical crew. Ichais Productions and Ramesh Pisharody Entertainments are jointly producing the movie which has been planned as an Onam release in September.

Thala Ajith’s next release is the much awaited ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’. The movie directed by H Vinoth is the remake of acclaimed Hindi film ‘Pink’. The makers have now announced that the movie’s trailer will be out today (June 12) evening at 6 PM.
