Here’s the teaser of Karthi’s new film Kaithi

As informed earlier by the makers, the teaser of Karthi starrer ‘Kaithi’ has been released online. The movie directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is touted to be an action-packed thriller. SR Prakashbabu and Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures is producing the movie.

‘Kaithi’, which means prisoner in Tamil, has Karthi playing a jail convict. The movie’s promos look intense with blood shades all over and it hints at a rustic action packed flick. The cast also includes Narain, George Maryan, Ramana, Dheena, Vatsan Chakravarthy, Yogi Babu, Mahanadi Shankar, Ponvannan and Thalaivasal Vijay. Sathyan Sooryan of ‘Theeran’ fame has cranked the camera and music is by Sam CS.

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj made his debut in 2017 with the superhit action-thriller ‘Maanagaram’. He is also in talks for Thalapathy Vijay’s next film. Karthi meanwhile has some promising films coming up. He is currently shooting for Jeethu Joseph’s film which also stars Jyothika and Nikhila Vimal. The star has also committed for a film with ‘Remo’ director Bakkiyaraj Kannan. Touted to be an action cum family drama, the film marks the Tamil debut of current South Indian sensation Rashmika Mandanna.

Three back to back releases for Tovino Thomas in June!

Tovino Thomas had a flurry of releases last year. But this year so far, he has had just two releases – ‘Lucifer’ and ‘Uyare’, both of which had him in extended cameo roles. Putting an end to the dullness, the actor is having three films getting ready to hit screens next month. ‘Virus’, ‘And The Oscar Goes To’ and ‘Luca’ are the three films gearing up for release.

‘Virus’ will be the first to hit screens, on June 7. The Aashiq Abu directorial, which is based on the Nipah outbreak, is one of the most awaited films of the year. Along with Tovino, the movie also stars Revathy, Asif Ali, Kunchacko Boban, Indrajith Sukumaran, Parvathy, Rima Kallingal, Poornima Indrajith, Remya Nambeesan, Madonna Sebastian, Soubin Shahir, Joju George and many others. Tovino plays the role of Kozhikode collector in the film.

Next in line for release is ‘And The Oscar Goes To’, directed by Salim Ahmed. The makers have announced June 21 as the release date. The movie has Tovino playing the role of a young passionate filmmaker. It tells the story of a film taking its director to the Oscars. Tovino has pinned high hopes on it as he believes it’s an international film made in a completely commercial format.

‘Luca’ directed by Arun Bose is slated for June 28. Tovino plays the role of a scrap artist in the film. It is said to be an intense romantic flick with shades of an investigative thriller. Ahaana Krishna plays the female lead.

First look poster of Dileep’s Shubharathri to be released tomorrow

Dileep’s ‘Shubharathri’ is getting ready for release in July. The movie’s first look poster will be released tomorrow (May 31) evening at 6 PM. Written and directed by Vyasan KP, the movie is based on some real life events. Along with Dileep, Siddique also plays one of the leads.

Anu Sithara is paired with Dileep for the first time. There is also an elaborate supporting cast that includes Shanthi Krishna, Nadhirshah, Indrans, Aju Varghese, Nedumudi Venu, Sai Kumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Asha Sarath, Sheelu Abraham, Hareesh Peradi, Manikandan, Saiju Kurup, Sudhi Koppa, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Prashanth, KPAC Lalitha and Thesni Khan. Music director Bijibal and lyricist BK Harinarayanan will also be appearing in cameo roles in the movie.

Alby is the cinematographer and music department is handled by Bijibal. Hemand Harshan is the editor and Renganaath Ravee is in charge of sound design. Abraham Mathew of Abaam Movies is producing the movie.

The official trailer of Taapsee Pannu’s new film ‘Game Over’ was released just a while back in social medias. The movie directed by Ashwin Saravanan was originally made in Tamil alone. But it is now being released in Hindi as well. Anurag Kashyap is associated with the Hindi version. The trailer was released by Dhanush and Rana Dagguabti through their respective social media handles.

‘Game Over’ is a thriller film that promises to explore something not seen before in Indian cinema. Taapsee plays the lead role in the film as a person on wheel chair, who is defending her home from a mysterious identity. As per the makers, it is not just a typical home invasion thriller. The trailer looks stunning with an overall terrifying mood.

Ashwin Saravanan is well known for helming the horror flick ‘Maya’, that had Nayanthara in the lead role. The movie which was also his debut directorial was a surprise hit that won appreciation from the critics and common audience alike. Ashwin has written ‘Game Over’ jointly with Ramkumar Kaavya. Y Not Studios and Reliance Entertainment are jointly producing the movie, which has been scheduled for release on June 14.

Unda is a socially relevant film with strong politics in it: Khalid Rahman

Mammootty’s much awaited cop flick ‘Unda’ is getting ready for release. Khalidh Rahman, who made an impressive debut with ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ is directing the movie. He has also penned the story based on a real incident that occurred during the election time in 2014. The movie revolves around a set of events that occur when an unit of policemen from Kerala reach the Maosit affected areas in Chhattisgarh for election duty.

According to Khalid, ‘Unda’ is a socially relevant film with clear politics. 80% of the movie is based on true events while the rest have been fictionalized to make it cinematic. The movie will have a drama mood throughout along with elements of thrill, action and light-hearted humour.

‘Unda’ has Mammootty playing Manikandan CP, an ordinary police sub inspector who heads the 8-member unit to Chattisgarh. Unlike his other recent films, here there will be no space for hero glorification or other such gimmicks. Though the veteran has played police roles umpteen times in his career, his character in ‘Unda’ is said to be very different from the ones he has done before.

The movie’s cast also comprises of Asif Ali, Vinay Forrt, Shine Tom Chacko, Jacob Gregory, Rony David, Arjun Ashokan, Noushad Bombay, Gokulan, Abhiram and Lukman. Krishnan Sethukumarr is producing the movie under the banner of Movie Mill in association with Gemini Studios.

As we already know, actor-writer Anoop Menon is turning a director with a movie titled ‘King Fish’. Its first look poster was released just a while back by Tovino through his official social media handle. The movie has Anoop Menon, director Ranjith, Durga Krishna and Divya Pillai in the lead roles. The first look features Anoop Menon and Divya Pillai.

Anoop Menon has also scripted the ‘King Fish’. It was originally supposed to be directed by VK Prakash but he had to opt out due to date issues. The movie is said to be a rom-com that revolves around Bhaskara Varma, who is a member of a royal family, and his uncle. Anoop Menon plays Bhaskara Varma’s role while director Ranjith essays the role of his maternal uncle Neelakanda Varma. Niranjana Anoop, director Lal Jose, Dhanesh Anand, Aaryan Krishnan Menon and Nirmal Palazhi are also part of the cast.

The much-awaited KV Anand directorial ‘Kaappaan’ is getting ready for release in August. The movie which boasts of a stellar star cast lead by two of South cinema’s biggest stars – Mohanlal and Suriya, is unarguably one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year. The two stars are coming together for the first time and naturally expectations are sky-high.

Going by the hype, it is said that the Kerala rights of ‘Kaappaan’ has been bagged by Tomichan Mulakuppadam for a huge price. He had earlier released some other Tamil biggies like ‘Vivegam’ and ‘2.0’. With the presence of Mohanlal and Suriya, ‘Kaappaan’ is certain to take a big opening in Kerala. A last minute change in the distribution rights is also on cards, as has the case been in several Tamil films of late.

‘Kaappaan’ is touted to be an action packed thriller. The movie has Mohanlal playing the Indian Prime Minister’s role while Suriya will be seen as a high-rank National Security Guard (NSG) officer. It also has Arya, Sayyeshaa, Boman Irani, Shamna Kasim and Samuthirakani in major roles. The movie was shot in several countries across the world. Lyca Productions is backing this big budget flick.

After nearly two months of continuous shoot, Tovino Thomas starrer ‘Kalki’ has finally been wrapped up. The actor himself took to his official Instagram handle to share the same with his followers. He has written a brief note sharing his experience working with the team. The post reads,

And now it’s peace after the storm. @kalkithemovie is officially wrapped up, after 62 days of hardship and fun. My character was unlike any I have played before, the most challenging one, I’d say. And all these days I was in a circle of longstanding friends and made a bunch of newer ones too. All of this means the expectation is high, as we present Kalki to you on August 8th. It’s relaxation mode now, and it’s highly deserving for the entire team. Thanks to everyone who was with me on this ride. May it all be worthwhile, like how good the whole experience was! ‘Kalki’ directed by debutant Praveen Prabharam is touted to be the first proper mass action entertainer in Tovino’s career. The actor plays the role of a police officer in the movie. Though he has done cop roles in films like ‘Ezra’ and ‘Tharangam’, this will be his first film in which he will be seen in a full fledged police officer role. As per the makers, Tovino’s character in the movie will be larger than life like a typical mass hero.

Gouri Kishan starts shooting for 96 Telugu remake

Gouri G Kishan, who won hearts with her impressive performance in the superhit film ’96’, has been roped in for its Telugu version as well. She is reprising the role of Jaanu in the Telugu remake, which has already started rolling. Earlier in the day, Gouri took to her social media handle to share the news with her followers. C Prem Kumar, who directed the original, is also helming the remake.

’96’, the romantic drama starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha is unarguably one of the most sensational blockbusters in South Indian cinema in recent years. The movie tells a poignant tale of two childhood sweethearts who get to meet after two decades for a school reunion. In the Telugu version, Sharwanand and Samantha will be playing the lead roles. Dil Raju of Sri Venkateswara Creations is producing the movie.

Gouri meanwhile has finished shooting for her debut Malayalam film ‘Anugraheethan Antony’, also starring Sunny Wayne. She has also shot for a music video in which she is paired with ‘June’ fame Sarjano Khalid.
