Popular Bollywood actress to play Indira Gandhi in KGF sequel

Rocking Star Yash’s ‘KGF’ has been one of the most talked about movies in Indian cinema in recent times. The multilingual film which hit screens last December film emerged as a huge blockbuster all across the country. Fans, cinephiles and critics alike are eagerly waiting for the second chapter. Shoot for the second installment is currently underway.

Latest reports suggest that the makers have approached Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon to play Indira Gandhi’s role. The actress has already confirmed that she is playing a Prime Minister’s role in the film, but added that it’s not based on Indira Gandhi.

Tandon is quoted saying, “Yes, I am playing a Prime Minister in the KGF sequel. But my character has nothing to do with Indira Gandhi. I play a steelwilled Prime Minister named Ramika Sen. You can draw your own conclusions from that. Ramika is gritty and gutsy, and she walks the talk. I loved her from the minute I was told about her. Plus, there is the added incentive of working with a really dedicated and sincere team.”

Earlier, it was reported that Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has been approached by the makers to play a meaty role in the film. However, his casting is yet to be made confirmed. Prashanth Neel, who scripted and directed the first part of KGF, is helming the second installment as well.

The first part was basically a build up to what is to follow. It was primarily centred round Raja Krishnappa Bairya aka Rocky, born into poverty, who arrives in Mumbai in the 1960s, on a quest for power and wealth. It focussed on how Rocky emerges as a dreaded gangster and gets involved with the gold mafia. Circumstances land him in Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), from where the core plot actually evolves. The first part had a cliffhanger ending, so fans and cinephiles are highly excited about the next installment.
