Saaho release date confirmed; Check out this new poster

Prabhas starrer ‘Saaho’ is one of the most awaited Indian movies this year. The movie directed by Sujeeth is touted to be a high octane action thriller made on an international scale. The makers have released a new poster today featuring an intense looking Prabhas. It has also been confirmed that the movie will be hitting screens worldwide on August 15.

‘Saaho’ is being made as a trilingual in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil languages. The movie has actors from various industries as part of its cast. Bollywood actress Shradhha Kapoor is paired with Prabhas. Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chunky Pandey, Mandira Bedi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Arun Vijay, Lal and Tinnu Anand are playing other prominent roles.

As per the makers, ‘Saaho’ is being made on a whopping budget of Rs 300 crore, of which Rs 90 crore is spent on the action sequences alone. Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati are jointly producing it under the banner of UV Creations.

Talks about ‘Lucifer’ refuse to die down even after the movie has crossed its 50th day of its theaterical run. Recently, actor Suriya was all praise for the movie and its director Prithviraj. In a chat show, when asked if he would ever direct a movie, Suriya said that he has no such plans but has immense respect for artists who can do that. He particularly mentioned about Prithviraj’s directorial debut ‘Lucifer’ and how he enjoyed watching the movie. He praised Prithviraj for presenting Mohanlal so well. Suriya also expressed his admiration for Prithviraj’s craft as a director.

‘Lucifer’ is currently the highest grossing Malayalam movie of all time. As per the makers, it has done a worldwide business of over Rs 200 crores. It is the first Malayalam film to have achieved such a remarkable feat. With ‘Lucifer’, Mohanlal once again stamped his authority at the box office and proving why he is the biggest crowd puller of the industry.

‘Lucifer’ scripted by Muriali Gopy is a mass entertainer set in the backdrop of Kerala politics. It is produced by Mohanlal’s own banner Aashirvad Cinemas. The movie is now available on digital streaming platform Amazon Prime in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu languages.

Confirmed: Vikram’s next is with Imaikka Nodigal fame Ajay Gnanamuthu

It has been a while since reports about Vikram teaming up with Ajay Gnanamuthu started surfacing online. Finally the official announcement was made last day. Ajay, a former associate of AR Murugadoss, has previously helmed two hit films – ‘Demonte Colony’ and ‘Imaikka Nodigal’. His second film starring Nayanthara, Anurag Kashyap and Atharvaa Murali emerged as a big success at the box office.

Ajay’s next film with Vikram is also said to be a thriller on the lines of ‘Imaikkaa Nodigal’. 7 Screen Studio and Viacom 18 Studios are jointly producing the movie, which is yet to be titled. The makers have planned to start shooting from August and is planned an April 2020 release.

Vikram is currently awaiting the release of ‘Kadaram Kondan’, directed by Rajesh M Selva of ‘Thoongavanam’ fame. The long delayed Gautham Menon directorial ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ is yet to be completed. The epic mythological flick ‘Mahavir Karna’ is also in the making. The movie directed by Malayali filmmaker RS Vimal is being made as a multilingual on a huge budget of over Rs 300 crores.

Mammootty starrer ‘Madhura Raja’ is fast approaching its 50th day of theatrical run. Despite a slew of releases, the movie is still running in a few centres across. As per latest reports from trade analysts, the movie has crossed the Rs 80 crore mark. Leading Kollywood trade analyst Ramesh Bala has tweeted that the movie has done a worldwide gross of Rs 82.60 crores toll now. It has successfully emerged as the highest ever grosser in the megastar’s three decade long career.

‘Madhura Raja’ is the spiritual successor to the 2009 superhit film ‘Pokkiriraja’. It is directed by Vysakh and scripted by Udhayakrishna. Prior to release, expectations were huge among the audience and as it turned out to be, the makers delivered exactly what they promised – a complete mass entertainer for this holiday season. Family audience have taken a particular liking to the movie. It is the perfect kind of entertainer that the for kids and elders to enjoy alike.

Along with Mammootty, the movie also stars Anusree, Jai, Mahima Nambiar, Anna Reshma, Shamna Kasim and Jagapathi Babu in crucial roles. Apart from doing good business in Kerala, the movie has also done well in overseas centres, particularly in the UAE region.

Shoot for Mohanlal’s ‘Ittymaani Made in China’ is currently progressing at a brisk pace. The team still have around a month of shoot. The team, including Mohanlal will be travelling to China for the final leg of shoot. The makers have planned to shoot there in July for five days.

Recently, the first look poster of ‘Ittymaani Made in China’, was released last day. The poster had Mohanlal in a traditional Margamkali attire. It gives vibes of an out and out fun entertainer. A mega ‘margam kali’ portion was shot recently which had Mohanlal, Salim Kumar, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Hareesh Kanaran and Johny Antony dancing along with hundreds of margam kali artists.

‘Ittymaani Made in China’ is helmed by debutant director duo Jibi and Joju. Honey Rose plays the female lead in the movie. Veteran Tamil actress Radikaa Sarath Kumar is also playing a key role. Siddique, Vinu Mohan, Aju Varghese, Kailas, Soubin Shahir, Salim Kumar, Sijoy Varghese, Nandu and Swasika are also part of the supporting cast.

Antony Perumbavoor is producing the movie under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

The official trailer of upcoming Tamil film ‘Gypsy’ was released earlier in the day. It is a hard-hitting trailer that follows the life of a gypsy, played by Jiiva. He apparently plays a character who leads a nomadic life style and at a particular point he spearheads a public uprising. From the trailer, we can make out that the movie touches upon several socio-political issues that are plaguing the country.

‘Gypsy’ is directed by Raju Murugan, a much revered filmmaker in Kollywood circles. Both his previous films – ‘Cuckoo’ and ‘Joker’ won widespread acclaim. ‘Joker’ went on to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. As per the director, ‘Gypsy’ is a message-oriented commercial entertainer with travel and romance as the two major elements.

‘Gypsy’ marks the Tamil debut of Malayali actor Sunny Wayne and director Lal Jose. The former plays a communist leader named Sakhavu Balan in the movie. Sunny’s powerful voice over is there throughout the trailer. His is said to be a brief but very important character in the movie.

‘Gypsy’ cast also includes Natasha Singh, Susheela Raman, Raj Kiran and Sathyaraj. The movie has music by Santhosh Narayanan.

Tovino Thomas’ new film ‘Luca’ is currently in the post-production phase. The movie’s first look poster was released recently. The poster featuring the lead pair, Tovino and Ahaana Krishna, gives vibes of a romantic flick. Though romance is part of it, ‘Luca’ is primarily an investigative thriller. It is directed by debutant Arun Bose. He also scripted the movie jointly with Mridul George.

‘Luca’ has Tovino playing the role of a scrap artist. Ahanaa Krishna’s character is named Niharikaa. The movie was predominantly shot in Fort Kochi and surrounding areas. Its supporting cast includes ‘Ottamuri Velicham’ fame Vineetha Koshy, Thalaivasal Vijay, Jaffer Idukki, Neena Kurup, Chembil Ashokan, Pauly Valsan and Devi Ajith.

On the technical front, Nimish Ravi has cranked the camera and Nikhil Venu is in charge of the edits. Promising young composer Sooraj S Kurup, noted for his works in movies like ‘Valleem Thetti Pulleem Thetti’ and ‘Solo’, is handling the music department. Linto Thomas and Prince Hussain are jointly producing ‘Luca’ under the banner of Stories and Thoughts Productions.

Recently, the makers of Asif Ali starrer ‘OP 160/18 Kakshi : Amminippilla’ had released a song titled ‘Uyyaram Payyaram’. It is a fun track featuring a highly energetic Basil Joseph performing in a wedding reception. Zia Ul Haq has rendered the track and is composed by Samuel Aby. Lyrics is penned by Manu Manjith.

The song has grabbed attention of many in social medias. Within two days of its release, the song has already fetched over 3 lakh views. Celebrities like Aju Varghese and Vineeth Sreenivasan have also shared the song in their respective social media handles.

Kakshi Amminipilla is directed by debutant Dinjith Ayyathan and scripted by Sanilesh Shivan. The movie is basically a court-room drama centred around the case of a newly wed couple, Shajith Kumar Amminipilla and wife Kanthi Sivadasan. Asif Ali plays the lead role of advocate Pradeepan Manjodi, a political aspirant who takes up the case. Vijayaraghavan, Ahmed Siddique, Nirmal Palazhi, Mamukoya, Sudheesh and Sarayu Mohan are part of the cast.

The movie is currently the highest grossing Malayalam movie. As claimed by the makers, it has done an overall business that exceeds well over Rs 200 crores.

Ever since the release of ‘Lucifer’, there have been numerous talks about the possibilities of a sequel to the movie. The makers have left several open ends in the film and a very intriguing tail end. Time and again, they have also added fuel to speculations by hinting about a second part

Prithviraj, who made his directorial debut with ‘Lucifer’, was recently asked about the possibility of a sequel. He made it clear that he currently has no such plans as it requires a lot of time and effort to plan a sequel, which should naturally be much bigger in terms of scale. However, he also added that ‘Lucifer’ was never planned as an one-film story. Interestingly, Prithviraj had thought about doing it as an 11-episode web series as the story was that vastly spread out but unfortunately, it didn’t materialize.

Recently, writer Murali Gopy had also now posted a note in his Facebook page hinting that the wait for ‘Lucifer 2’ won’t be too long. Though the makers are yet to make an official word, fans are already excited to see more of Stephen Nedumbally aka Abram Qureshi. Let’s hope the project materialises soon.

Syam Pushkaran and Dileesh Pothan to team up for a cop flick?

The successful trio of Syam Pushkaran, Dileesh Pothan and Fahadh Faasil are set to team up once again. As per our sources within the industry, they are planning to make a cop flick inspired from a real life policeman’s service story. Scripting and other pre-production works are currently underway and we can expect an official announcement shortly.

The three had earlier teamed up for ‘Maheshinte Prathikaram’, ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ and ‘Kumbalangi Nights’, though their roles were different in each film. ‘Maheshinte..’ had Fahadh Fassil in the lead with Syam Pushkaran scripting it and Dileesh Pothan calling the shot. In ‘Thondimuthal’, Syam was the dialogue writer and creative director. ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ had the trio coming together for the first time for production. Syam was also the scriptwriter and Fahadh played one of the major roles in the film.

Expectations for their upcoming film will be sky-high as their previous works have all been highly acclaimed. ‘Maheshinte Prathikaram’ and ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ won multiple awards at the National level. ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ is also expected to sweep several awards next year.

Their new film is most likely to begin by the second half of this year. Fahadh’s father, veteran director Fazil, is said to be producing the movie.
